Gwen Stefani made a confusing admission about being “Japanese” despite having zero ties to the country

Suffice it to say that Gwen Stefani saying she is “Japanese” is a little confusing, considering she was born to an Italian American father and an Irish American mother.

The Voice US judge, who is from California, spoke about her heritage while speaking about a visit to the district of Harajuku in the early 2000s.

During an interview with Allure magazine, the Don’t Speak singer told the interviewer (who was of Asian heritage) about how she had made the trip before she released her controversial collection Harajuku Lovers in 2004.

“I said, ‘My God, I’m Japanese, and I didn’t know it’,” she said, before adding: “I am, you know.”

During the conversation, Gwen also claimed that she identified as “a little bit of an Orange County girl, a little bit of a Japanese girl, a little bit of an English girl”. Eeep!

According to News.com.au, when the journalist Jesa Marie Calaor reached out to the singer’s rep about it, they said she had “misunderstood” what she was trying to say.

Asking for comment about it, the request was refused by Gwen’s team.

Doubling down, Gwen said: “(It) should be OK to be inspired by other cultures because if we’re not allowed, then that’s dividing people, right?” she said during the initial interview.

Gwen Stefani has been called out in the past for cultural appropriation

When the Rich Girl singer was dating former No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal, she often wore a bindi on her forehead.

When asked about the cultural accessory worn by Hindu women in 2019, she said she got a “little defensive” when it was called “cultural appropriation”.

“I get a little defensive when people (call it culture appropriation) because if we didn’t allow each other to share our cultures, what would we be?” she said in an interview with Billboard.

“You take pride in your culture and have traditions, and then you share them for new things to be created.”

Hmm, we don’t think that’s how it works, Gwen.

An erect paintbrush set tongues wagging on The Bachelor and now Bella has an x-rated confession

Goodness, gracious! The Bachelor Australia 2023 certainly came to play during its premiere on January 9 and now Bella Johnson is set to spice it up even more!

During the premiere, we were blessed with an erection on prime time TV (ahem, Felix Von Hofe), a plastic vagina named Sophie who gave birth to a plastic baby and a brutal rejection which saw Jed McIntosh lose his actual sh*t in mopey frustration.

Speaking of Jed, during tonight’s episode, Bella (one of his ladies) will blesse us with an x-rated confession!

In case you’ve forgotten who she is, this firecracker took the drummer to a tattoo parlour on their first date… not intense at all!

In an exclusive clip obtained by News.com.au, Bella is shown giving her uncensored verdict on the brand-new Bach-pad — the new home of our three leading men.

This year, instead of cocktail parties in the garden, the women have been blessed with “penthouse parties”, and frankly, what a welcome addition!

“So I walk into the Bach pad… and there’s a f*cking pool inside? Then I notice that there’s actually an oyster bar,” Bella says with excitement.

“There’s three things I love in my life: Champagne, d*ck, oysters. All of it is in the room.

“Whatever happens today, I think it’s brilliant.”

“There’s three things I love in my life: Champagne, d*ck, oysters. All of it is in the room,” Bella Johnston says. Source: Ten.

Who is Bella Johnston on The Bachelors Australia 2023?

According to her offical channel 10 bio, Bella is still single because she “chooses to be”.

In fact, Bella’s parents taught her that, when it comes to love, she should always trust her gut.

In the relo department, the 27-year-old from NSW has had a few failed relationships and admitted it’s completely “on brand” for her to apply for The Bachelors.

“I am passionate, I am hilarious, I am full of energy and love making plans!” she said.

“It would be amazing if I had a partner to do it with, but also not the end of the world if I don’t. Also, I am an absolutely incredible cook. But I’m not into gender roles so he’d have to do all the washing up.”

We just love her!

Inspired by John’s autobiography of the same name, the 10-part serialised drama will track John’s rise from a poverty-stricken immigrant with no education, no money, and no prospects, to become Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul in Sydney’s Kings Cross – barely half a mile long with every form of criminality on offer.

Who is in the cast of Last King of the Cross?

Joining Lincoln and Claude on the Golden Mile are Ian McShane (Lovejoy) Callan Mulvey (300: Rise Of An Empire), Tess Haubrich (Spiderhead), Claude Jabbour (Eden), Maria Tran (Echo 8), Matt Nable (Riddick) and Damian Walshe-Howling (Janet King).

ICYMI: The Biggest Bombshells from Prince Harry’s Explosive Spare Interviews

Prince Harry has unleashed in not one but TWO bombshell TV interviews and to say our heads are spinning is an absolute understatement.

From dishing about his relationship with his brother Prince “Willy” William to the heartbreaking death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, “Harold” did not hold back in telling what he calls, his “truth”.

But perhaps the biggest controversy was that he delivered untold details about private moments, begging the question, is this what “privacy” looks like to the Duke of Sussex?

prince harry
Prince Harry has unleashed not one but TWO bombshell TV interviews. Source: ITV.

For his UK interview — which aired on January 9 on Channel 7, Prince Harry spoke with Tom Bradby, an ITV journalist he has known for over two decades.

The second, a US chat, he spoke to journalist Anderson Cooper, in a 60 Minutes interview that aired an hour earlier in Australia on Channel 10.

While Harry said a lot during these sit-downs, the nuance of what he didn’t say was more telling.

But have these interviews opened a larger can of worms?

Prince Harry suspects his family of leaking stories

Perhaps one of the more eye-raising revelations was that Prince Harry suspects his family of leaking stories to the British press.

“We’re talking about an antagonist, which is the British press, specifically the tabloids, who want to create as much conflict as possible,” he told the ITV journalist.

“The saddest part of that is certain members of my family, and the people [who] work for them are complicit in that conflict.”

During his chat with Anderson, Harry referred to the UK media as “dragons” and said that his family would still be a “fairly dysfunctional family like a lot, but at the heart of it, there is a family, without question.”

“I think it’s hard for anybody to imagine a family dynamic that is so Game of Thrones,” the US journo told him.

“I don’t watch Game of Thrones, but there’s definitely dragons, and that’s a third party which is the British press,” he responded.

Prince Harry alluded to the fact that Camilla was the one to leak information

In the lead-up to his father’s wedding to Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles, Harry saw details leaked to the British press.

The information came from conversations he had had with William and Camilla, however, confirmed his brother didn’t leak them.

As for Charles’ marriage to Camilla?

“We asked him not to get married. He chose to, and that’s his decision, but the two of them are very happy together,” he told Bradby, while saying to Cooper, that he hoped the wedding made Camilla less “dangerous” to him.

Kate Middleton was the perfect “sister he never had” until Meghan Markle entered the fold

When the Princess of Wales married his brother, Harry felt like she was a sister he never had.

“I did a lot as the third wheel to them, which was fun at times, but also, I guess, slightly awkward at times as well,” he told ITV.

But then came Meghan.

Even though William and Kate were fans of her TV show Suits, Meghan was not what they were expecting.

“I don’t think they were ever expecting me to get into a relationship with someone like Meghan, who had a very successful career.”

“There was a lot of stereotyping that was happening,” he said.

“It felt to me as though that was causing a barrier to them welcoming her in: American actress, divorced, biracial.” Ooft.

Furthermore, Harry admitted that the Royal “fab four” concept was a media construct.

Prince Harry said that it was Kate who made Meghan cry before the wedding

While the tabloids said what Harry called “25 different versions” of the story, the truth behind whom made who cry before his nuptials finally came out.

Kate was the one who had actually bought Meghan to tears and during a tense meeting between the four, Kate had gripped “the edge of a chair so tightly that her knuckles were white”.

Meghan described a moment of forgetfulness by Kate as “baby brain” and everything erupted.

“Kate tells Meg they’re not close enough to talk that way, and William says, ‘That’s not what happens here in Britain’,” an excerpt from Harry’s memoir Spare detailed.

“Why wasn’t it corrected?” Harry told ITV.

“They [the Royal Family] were more than happy to put out statements for less volatile things. The palace still could have come out and said, ‘this never happened’.”

As for whether William told his brother not to marry the US actress: “It wasn’t that he tried to dissuade me from marrying Meghan, but he aired some concerns early on and said, ‘This is going to be really hard for you’. I still don’t really understand that.”

Prince William called Harry “spare” during a tense discussion about Harry’s wedding beard

For royalists worldwide, one of the most shocking fallouts of the royal scandal has been William and Harry’s relationship breakdown.

The prince lamented that after the death of their mother “were on different trajectories, dealing with the same traumatic experience in different ways” and by the time they became adults, he believed his older brother had “insisted on turning our brotherhood into some kind of private Olympiad”.

According to the 38-year-old, one of the more vicious fights erupted over a small detail at his wedding – his beard.

A former military man, Harry had to gain permission from the Queen to sport facial hair during the ceremony.

While the late Queen agreed, William had other ideas.

“This beard felt to me at the time like the new Harry, as almost like a shield for my anxiety … and I think William found it hard that other people told him to shave his off,” Harry told Tom.

However, another altercation between the pair became physical.

“Me and William used to fight all the time, when we were kids. What was different here was this level of frustration.

“I talked [in the memoir] about the red mist that I had for so many years, I saw this red mist in him.

“I can pretty much guarantee that, if I wasn’t in therapy, then I would have fought back, but I didn’t.”

During an interaction at the late Prince Philip’s funeral, William asked Harry to look him in the eye.

“Harold, you must listen to me — I just want you to be happy, Harold. I swear. I swear on Mummy’s life,” William had said to him, using the “secret code” words reserved for extreme crisis.

“It stopped me cold. I didn’t believe him. It is heartbreaking. This whole thing is incredibly sad, but there’s a way out of it.”

Prince Harry drove through the Parisian tunnel where Princess Diana died

One of the more heartbreaking and poignant moments was when Harry reflected on the loss of his mother and during the ITV interview, he explained how his father and told him about Diana’s death.

“Darling boy, Mummy’s been in a car crash,” King Charles had told him at the time.

As for their walk behind her coffin, the boys had decided to do it together — one would not do it without the other.

One of the more heartbreaking and poignant moments, was when Harry reflected on the loss of his mother. Source: Getty Images.

“There was this weight on my chest for so many years. And I was never able to cry,” he said of his mum’s death during the 60 Minutes interview.

“The idea that she’d been taken away and that William and I were now motherless, I couldn’t understand,” he recalled.

“I needed proof that she was in the car.”

At the age of 23, Harry travelled through the Pont de l’Alma tunnel.

“I needed to take this journey, I needed to take this at the same speed,” he said, before adding:

“When you’ve actually experienced the same thing which you assume your mother’s driver was experiencing at the time, then it’s really hard to understand how some people have come away with the conclusions of that night.

“And that the people [who] were predominantly responsible for it all got away with it.”

Harry also explained that Charles had apologised to him, saying he should have “got you help years ago”.

Sunshine, Love and Roses: Here’s Where The Bachelors Australia 2023 Was Filmed

The Bachelor’s Australia 2023 may have seen a huge shake-up with triple the love and a brand new cast, but these are not the only MAJOR changes we’ve seen this season.

While previous years have been filmed in Sydney, the tenth iteration — starring Felix Von Hofe, Jed McIntosh and Thomas Malucelli — has been moved to the the sunny shores of the Gold Coast.

While Le Chateu (2021) had some old school romantic charm, the brand new digs have more of a “Bach- in-Miami” vibe, suitable for a modern day fairytale to unfold.

The $14.5m luxury Broadbeach Waters mansion was created by renowned Gold Coast designer Jared Poole and covers almost 2,400 square metres with spectacular views.

There’s an open-plan kitchen, lounge and formal dining spaces that spill onto a waterfront pavilion, creating the ultimate alfresco entertaining space.

The double-storey Beverly Hills-style home has a central manicured lawn area, a gym, a stunning pool, refurbished bathrooms, an inbuilt wet bar/barbecue and a cosy fireplace.

“The Bach Pad” is home to the three Bachelors

While the bachelorettes lived it up in their McMansion, across the skyline, the three Bachelors took up residence in a “Bach Pad”.

Complete with a sparkling indoor pool, gym, a drum kit for drummer Jed, a telescope and a pool table, this impressive apartment is perfect for downtime away from the chaos.

According to Realestate.com.au, production of the series created about 80 local jobs, boosting local tourism.

Emily Ratajkowski Can’t Get Over Ellen’s “F*cked Up” Interview With Taylor Swift from 2012

When Taylor Swift appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2012, she was forced to “ring a bell” every time a celeb man she dated flashed up on screen.

In what was supposed to be a fun segment, the chat began increasingly awkward, with the Anti-Hero singer repeatedly asking host Ellen DeGeneres to “stop”.

Now, a decade later, the interview — which has gone viral again thanks to TikTok — has received huge backlash, including from Emily who called it “F*cked up”.

“This is so f*cked up,” the supermodel wrote under a post on social media. “She’s literally begging her to stop.”

During the segment, Taylor Lautner, Justin Bieber, Joe Jonas and Justin Timberlake were featured, with Taylor begging to keep “the one shred of dignity that I have.”

“I don’t want to [do it]. They’ll send me angry emails, and I don’t want to get them,” she added.

“Stop it, stop it, stop! This makes me feel so bad about myself. Every time I come up here, you put a different dude up there on the screen, and it just makes me really question what I stand for as a human being.”

Taylor Swift indirectly spoke out about the incident during a 2019 interview

During an interview with Zane Lowe on the Apple Beats podcast in 2019, Taylor seemingly spoke out about the incident without naming names.

“When I was like 23, people were just kind of reducing me to — kind of making slide shows of my dating life and putting people in there that I’d sat next to at a party once and deciding that my songwriting was like a trick rather than a skill and a craft,” she told the host.

“It’s a way to take a woman who is doing her job and succeeding at doing her job and making things, and it’s, in a way, it’s figuring out how to completely minimise that skill.”

If Sydney’s Dapto Had a Middle-Aged Super-Hero IRL, We’d Be Blessed with Disney+’s Koala Man

What would happen if Sydney’s Dapto had a middle-aged koala superhero who fought petty crime? You’d probably get Disney+’s newest offering Koala Man.

The comedy centres around a ‘Strayan dad Kevin and his not-so-secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime in the Australian suburban town of Dapto.

And if the tagline is anything to go by, “average dad, below average superhero”, we’re certainly in for a thrilling ride.

“Average dad, below average superhero” is the tagline to Koala Man. Source: Disney+

From Aussie creator creator/animator Michael Cusack — who also voices Kevin — the series is executive produced by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit

Koala Man is a relatable, Aussie “hero”

Kevin — an anti-hero of sorts — will do whatever it takes to defeat villainous masterminds, supernatural horrors, or worse: jerks who don’t take their rubbish bins down on the proper days. Lol!

During a recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, creator Michael said the idea came from there being “a specific type of dad that almost wishes they were a police officer”, however, since they did not fulfill their dreams, they “decide to take the law into their own hands.”

“They’re always like, ‘Someone’s got to do something about this behaviour’, and that’s usually how a traditional superhero story starts.”

While most superheroes have some sort of exciting superpower, according to the Wollongong born animator, “the key to keeping this one Australian” is that our hero has none.

Who is the in the Koala Man cast?

Alongside Michael is truly an all-star cast including Succession’s Julie Snook as Kevin’s wife Vicky, Flight of the Concord’s Jemaine Clement as Bazwell and The Greatest Showman’s Hugh Jackman as the most well-liked man in Dapto (and head of the Town Council), Big Greg.

But more importantly, Aussie colloquialisms and humour is the real star here, something that will hopefully prove to be successful with a US audience.

“Sometimes when the Americans are baffled it’s even funnier for them,” Michael told the outlet.

“I was a little worried, but I was also confident that we grew up on The Simpsons and that had words we didn’t understand, but I still got it and it was still funny.

“I hope the flipside is still the case – it’s funnier to them if they don’t know whether something’s real or I made it up. They can be baffled and amused, I’ve discovered.”

Koala Man streams on Disney+ from January 9.

Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp Comes Out as Gay With an Epic Nod to His Character Will

Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has come out as gay while giving an epic nod to his character Will Byers from the Netflix runaway success.

Taking to TikTok, the 18-year-old shared a short clip of himself lying in bed with text: “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years, and all they said was ‘we know,'”. Love this for him!

Noah lip-synched to an original sound by user princessazula0, which said: “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, it will never be that serious.”

In an ‘art imitates life’ moment, the actor captioned the upload with: “I guess I’m more similar to will [sic] than I thought”.

During season four of Stranger Things, the series hinted at Will’s queer sexuality when he began to resent Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike’s (Finn Wolfhard) relationship.

David Harbour Hinted at Noah Schnapp’s Character Being Gay

David Harbour, who plays Detective Hopper also implied Will being gay in an interview with Variety.

“If you’ve been watching the show, you should know that Will is not interested in El. He’s interested in someone else in the group.”

While it was never confirmed as fact, Noah revealed in another interview with the same publication the importance of ambiguity.

“I feel like they never really address it or blatantly say how Will is. I think that’s the beauty of it, that it’s just up to the audience’s interpretation,” he said.

“If it’s Will kind of just refusing to grow up and growing up slower than his friends, or if he is really gay.”

Hugh Jackman Branded Ryan Reynolds “Insufferable” and Frankly, Their Friendship Is Somethin’ Else

Aussie Hugh Jackman has branded ~aRch NeMesIS~ Ryan Reynolds “insufferable” in a hilarious Tweet and for those who are obsessed with their hectic friendship, it just took a goddamn turn.

Even though he’s up for a Golden Globe nomination himself, Hugh, 54, couldn’t help but take a swipe at his BFF, whose song Good Afternoon from Apple TV+’s Spirited has been nominated for an Academy Award.

Taking to Twitter, The Greatest Showman actor posted a two-minute public service announcement, begging the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to not recognise his pal…

“Hey everybody, it’s 2023, and I really, really wanted to send out a positive message at the beginning of the year, but recent events have made that impossible,” Hugh joked.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love Spirited. It’s a great movie. The entire family watched it … I love Will [Ferrell], I love Octavia [Spencer]. Obviously, I did The Greatest Showman with Benj [Pasek] and Justin [Paul] – they’re incredible, and I love their music.

“And Good Afternoon, the song, I laughed the entire way through. It’s absolutely brilliant. However, I just heard the Academy have short-listed Good Afternoon in the Best Song category.

“Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the Best Song Category would make the next year of my life insufferable. I have to spend a year with him shooting Wolverine And Deadpool. Trust me. It would be impossible. It would be a problem.”

How did Ryan Reynolds Respond to Hugh Jackman’s Public Service Announcement?

Never one to back down, Ryan responded: “Disagree. I think the deep fakes that sung and danced for Will and I would love to perform at the Oscars.” LOL!

He then shared Hugh’s video to his own Insta account with the ultimate clap back from his hit film.

“I know it’s still early but Good Afternoon to you, Mr. Jackman.”

Kim Kardashian Sends Aussies Into Google Meltdown Over Honey Blonde Hair

The Kardashians OG influencer Kim Kardashian has once again sent Aussies into overdrive and this time it is over her honey-blonde hair.

After dying her locks platinum blonde to recreate Marilyn Monroe’s ICONIQUE look at the Met Gala in 2022, the 42-year-old has gone slightly darker for her “blonde era”.

Now, the reality star is sporting what her celeb hairdresser Chris Appleton describes as “honey hair”, a trend that is rising in popularity on Google.

According to LOOKFANTASTIC, fans down under have been searching for “Kim K’s honey hair” in droves, with a rise of over 9000 per cent in recent weeks.

On top of this, “honey hair” is also a breakout search topic, with a staggering 9300 per cent rise on the search engine.

The popular trend saw a steep incline after the mum-of-four share her new do on Instagram back in December.

Captioning a carousel of pics, she wrote: “Thoughts on Honey? Should I dye my hair platinum again or go dark?”

Celebrity Stylist Chris Appleton “Set the Record Straight” on Kim Kardashian’s Hair Colour

In a TikTok video posted by Chris, the celeb stylist reiterated that the hair colour was, in fact, not “caramel” but “honey”.

“Alright guys, I’m going to set the record straight and be really honest with you. This is not ‘caramel Kim’ this is ‘honey Kim’.”

Clearly a large bee in his bonnet (honey bee, not caramel bee), he took aim at people who were referencing the incorrect colour.

@chrisappletonhair It’s honey NOT Carmel lol 🍯 ##kimkardashian ♬ original sound – Chrisappleton1

“It’s a very different colour,” he said, before adding it was “lighter and softer and more golden.”

“We wanted this vibe for Miami… about being gold and tanned and having fun.”

The video was a PSA of sorts, because, guys, if you go to the salon and ask for “caramel”, “you’re going to get very different results.” DAH!

How to Get the Kim Kardashian and Hailey Bieber Honey Blonde Hairstyle

Award-winning celebrity stylist Jaye Edwards told news.com.au that the look had recently “spiked in popularity”.

“Honey hair is a warm based natural looking tone (which) has spiked in popularity thanks to celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Kim Kardashian,” he told the outlet.

“We have seen a huge rise in the salon of people showing us images of Hailey as their transformation reference pic.”

“We have seen a huge rise in the salon of people showing us images of Hailey as their transformation reference pic.” Source: Instagram.

He also explained that Hailey’s “soft ombre” hair is all about a few strategically placed, subtle honey highlights.”

“The key to keeping this look natural is by keeping the highlights in the brunette family and never going all the way to the root,” he told the outlet.

Talk about Kim-fluence!
