The Block 2023 Recap Episode 8: Two houses have a sleepover and Leah and Kyle sort sh** out

Plus, Gian sees dollar signs with an unexpected item to sell

It’s episode eight of The Block 2023 and unfortunately for Steph and Gian, a lovely friendship continued to develop between Leah and Ash (House Two) and Kristy and Brett (House 3).

In fact, the foursome who have decidedly turned themselves into the Mean Girls cast had a sleepover while House Two underwent some serious demolition.

Kristy. Nine

Given that it was a long weekend in Melbourne at the time of filming and the fact that the show’s rules means no power tools on a Public Holiday, the Blockheads continued to build their studios by hand.

Meanwhile, tensions have been brewing between Leah and House One’s Kyle, who you may remember called her out for speaking over people during the madness that was the body corporate. Like her husband in episode seven, Leah cannot let sh** go and approaches Kyle to clear the air.

Kyle, who is pretty much as chill as they come, explains there is no issue; however, he admits he doesn’t think they will ever be besties. 

Over in House Four, Steph and Gian are delighted when Scotty Cam tells them they can sell the huge swim spa in their backyard. Dollar signs flash in Gian’s eyes and he smiles from ear to ear. Finally, some luck for the underdogs!

Gian. Nine

As the contestants continue their builds, they’re reminded of the huge prizes up for grabs on The Block this week. Not only will there be a $10k cash prize from Ford for the winning room, but also a $20k wardrobe upgrade from Kinsman, and a goddamn Hermes vintage bag worth at least $20k!!

Even though Kristy and Brett have a solid alliance with their neighbours, their own pairing starts to see a few cracks as they argue about the best way to paint their studio apartment. However, during a Weber grilling challenge, where the Blockheads were tasked with cooking the perfect steak for Scotty, the long-time host awards Brett the win and the couple take home $10k.

The Block airs on Sunday at 7:00pm and continues Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
