Well folks, we’ve officially reached the point in The Block 2026 where the knives are out, and this time they’re being wielded by castmates Rick and Tayla Peroomal against another team.
The father-daughter duo, who form the Green Team on the current season of the reno show, discussed their castmates in a recent interview on the Fifi, Fev & Nick radio show, saying that while everyone “got along” on the surface, there was still a fair amount a smack-talk.
The Block’s Rick and Tayla call out the “snakes” in their cast
“We all got along, but watching it, I see that there are snakes, and then poor Dad thinks that everyone’s amazing and loves everyone, and they’re behind his back talking smack,” Tayla said. For his part, Rick agreed that “there’s a few [castmates] talking smack,” and said this season’s sharehouse twist “was a big challenge.”
As for who exactly was talking smack, Tayla had a few choice words for Red Team Adam and Jolene, saying she felt “upset” watching them on the show “because Dad loved them” during filming.

It marks a stark change of tune for the couple, who told Chattr before the season aired that the cast was “one big happy family.”
“There’s no villains, we’re all good,” Rick and Tayla told us — though they did mention a small gripe with the messiness of the share house. “We were living with really dirty people,” Rick said. “F**king pigs.”
Meanwhile, Adam and Jolene also downplayed this season’s drama in an exclusive interview with Chattr. “Everyone was pretty chill,” Jolene told us. “I mean, people have their days… We live in a share house, so things are going to happen.”
The Block’s Rick and Tayla are already under scrutinty
The comments come as Tayla, formerly an early fan-favourite castmate, comes under increased scrutiny by both her castmates and The Block’s fans. On the viewers’ side, social media users this week expressed frustration over Tayla needing an “attitude adjustment” and “fluffing about” instead of locking in on the renovation.
“This constant fluffing about and not just knuckling down and working while her dad carries all the load – mental and physical – is really starting to piss me off,” one Redditor wrote.
Also pointing a target at Tayla was fellow castmates Chantel and Wyatt, who described their co-star in an exclusive interview with Chattr as “a little bit spicy.”
“I think from that moment I knew Tayla was going to be a little bit spicy,” Chantel told us of Tayla and Lisa’s reaction to their painting cheating scandal. “They were probably a bit jealous of the progress we were making.”

All the cast in-fighting comes as The Block is still reeling from the budget mix-up that almost sent Chantel and Wyatt packing… and we’re only in the first half of the season! There’s still plenty of rooms and potential feuds to come, so buckle up!
The Block 2026 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday — Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
