The Block 2026 contestants have revealed that several alliances formed during the competition, some of which still exist now that the show is done filming.
If there’s one thing The Block proves year after year, it’s that spending weeks living, working and renovating alongside the same people is bound to create some very intense friendships, and equally intense rivalries.
And while the 2026 cast have repeatedly insisted they all got along, it seems the contestants naturally formed their own little friendship pods behind the scenes.
So, who was actually hanging out with who? Here’s what we know…
Rick and Tayla found their people in Courtney and Sev
Speaking to Chattr, Rick and Tayla were asked which contestants they had become closest to throughout the competition and their response was clear: Courtney and Sev.
“The girls, Court and Sev,” Rick said, with Tayla adding: “Definitely.”
Rick explained that while they “got on well with everyone”, he and Tayla ultimately “bonded more so with the girls next door”.
He added that he “took an attraction to Adam and Jolene at first, being the oldest in the group”, but ultimately wound up closer with the gals “than anybody else”.

And it seems the friendship went both ways.
Courtney and Sev also revealed to Chattr that Rick and Tayla were among their closest friends on site, describing their relationship with the pair as particularly strong.
Courtney said she and Sev had been “best friends” with Rick and Tayla during filming, along with Rosco.
“We were inseparable. Like we always helped each other out,” Courtney said of her friendship with Rosco, before explaining that there were several different bonds forming throughout the competition.
“Rosco and Courtney just have a beautiful friendship, and same with Adam,” Sev shared.
“They were like these three little musketeers that just would have very inappropriate jokes, so it can’t make it on TV, but they had such great banter and a beautiful friendship throughout the show.”
Courtney and Sev reveal the cast formed different ‘pods’
According to Courtney and Sev, the cast naturally separated into smaller friendship groups as the weeks went on.
“It’s only natural that this type of experience is going to make little pods or cliques of friendships,” Courtney told Chattr.
For Courtney and Sev, that meant forming strong friendships with Rick and Tayla as well as Chantel.
“We got along beautifully with Tayla and even Chantel across the road,” Courtney said.
She also explained that the nature of the competition made it easier for some contestants to form particularly tight bonds.
“I think it was easier for everyone that’s on site to form a connection and really be bonded through the traumas of what actually has to happen on site,” she said.

However, Courtney made it clear that the friendships weren’t necessarily one giant, interconnected group.
“We’ve got great friendships with everybody independently. They might not all be linked together, but there are great friendships there,” she said.
So where do Lisa, Rosco, Adam and Jolene fit in?
While Rick and Tayla found themselves closest to Courtney and Sev, there appears to have been another particularly tight-knit group forming around Lisa, Rosco, Adam and Jolene.
Rosco was asked who he was closest to during the competition and he didn’t hesitate.
“Obviously Adam and Jolene, but Adam, Rick, and then Courtney, mainly for me,” he told Chattr.
Lisa also named Adam and Jolene when discussing the people she was closest to.
“Adam and Jolene, yes,” she said. Lisa then added: “I think Courtney and Sev, like, are we good friends?”
Courtney revealed that several moments drove a wedge between the girls and Lisa throughout the season, including Lisa’s comments about Courtney and Sev declining to give Rick and Tayla more time to finish their room, then asking about his injury later on.
She also offered some insight into the dynamic, revealing that while she and Rosco were extremely close during filming, her relationship with Lisa was a different story.
“Lisa and I were never close during the show. We still aren’t now,” she said.
Rick and Tayla were also close with Chantel and Wyatt
Rick and Tayla also had plenty of love for Chantel and Wyatt, despite admitting they didn’t spend as much time together as they would have liked.
“We love Chantel and Wyatt,” Rick said.
“It’s just a little bit of a shame they didn’t spend more time in the house.”
He recalled eventually getting the chance to sit down and chat with the pair, saying he told Tayla afterwards that they were “actually really nice people”.
“We got on so well with them. We got on so well with everyone, but it’s just a shame they didn’t spend more time interacting with us all,” he said.
Tayla also revealed that Chantel reached out to them after filming to apologise for anything that may have been said during the intense competition.
“She texted me this big long message,” Tayla said.
The pair ultimately reassured her that there were no hard feelings.
“Like, we’re all fine. We’re all in this for the same reason. Like, it’s done now. Don’t apologise,” Tayla recalled telling her.
Where do The Block friendships stand now?
Despite all the different friendship circles, the entire cast apparently remains connected in one very 2026 way: a group chat.
Rick revealed that all the contestants are in a group chat together — although he admitted he’s not exactly the most active member.
“We’re in a group chat with all the contestants, but I don’t really reply in the group chat to be quite honest,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lisa and Rosco recently revealed that one team out of the five had bailed on the group chat.
“Four out of five houses are talking. Well, four out of five houses are talking in the group chat,” Rosco told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
Lisa then appeared to hint that not everyone had remained on good terms.
“Most of the houses are friendly,” she added. Notice the ~most~?
Speaking to Woman’s Day, an insider later revealed Chantel and Wyatt are the pair who have ditched the group, claiming they have “completely ghosted” their co-stars.
“There’s been no communication in the WhatsApp group, no calls, no texts. They’ve just removed themselves from the whole thing,” they said.
The source adds: “They left The Block at the end of filming and really have only interacted with the other houses once.”
Rosco appeared to sum up the current state of the cast’s relationships rather neatly.
“Well, we’re all still friends, but we probably don’t really talk to each other as much,” he told Chattr.
So while there doesn’t appear to be one giant Block supergroup, the cast have definitely formed their own little alliances and friendships.
And judging by Courtney and Sev’s “little pods” comment, it sounds like those relationships were a pretty important part of surviving the chaos of The Block.
The Block airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
