The Traitors Recap Episode 2: The players can’t stop eliminating Faithfuls

It’s episode two of The Traitors Australia and two players have already been eliminated from the game, with two more set to leave tonight.

The remaining players gathered at breakfast and accusations ran wild around the bunch about who were the Traitors amongst them. Gyton found himself in the crossfire, with suspicion mounting over his intentions in the game.

Meanwhile, Elias failed to turn up to the morning meal, meaning that he was the Faithful who was eliminated (or murdered, as the show likes to eloquently put it) overnight.

The Challenge

The players gathered together for the challenge and were told by host Rodger Corser that they’d need to retrieve large puzzle blocks from a lake using a rowboat, and then arrange them into a pyramid before time ran out.

The red team finished their pyramid with just seconds to go and won eight bars of silver, which equates to $16,000 in the prize pot.

Because the red team won the challenge, they were given the opportunity to compete in the Immunity Challenge. Simone found the Lucky Shield for the second time, giving herself immunity once again.

Who was murdered and who was banished?

At the Banishment Ceremony, Gyton had a clear target on his back and despite giving a sincere pitch, the other players believed he was using his acting chops to fool them. Traitor Sam was slyly campaigning to blindside fellow Traitor Ash, and tried to encourage Gyton and Luke to vote with him.

However, the majority voted against Gyton and he was eliminated from the game. But, not before he made it clear that his vote was on Ash, raising suspicion around her claim to be a Faithful.

With Faithful Gyton eliminated, all three Traitors were safe once again.

16 remain as The Traitors Australia 2023 continues on August 21 on 10 and 10Play.

The Voice recap episode 5: One judge begs on her knees for a contestant to join her team

It’s episode 5 of The Voice Australia 2023 and we saw another round of the Blind Auditions, with one particular stand out.

The episode saw coaches Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Jason Derulo and Rita Ora battle it out for their favourite voices, and all four were desperate to secure one talent who was described as an “undeniable force”.

See below for the highlights from the 2023 Blind Auditions #4!

David Aumua

David gave such a stunning performance of You Say by David Aumua that he not only got a four-chair turn, but he also had Jess on her knees, begging him to join her team. And, that wasn’t before she blocked Guy mid-pitch.

The Queenslander opened up about his weight insecurities, and emotionally spoke about how they’ve stopped him from pursuing a career in music.

Jess’s desperate plea for the 24-year-old was successful and David officially joined Team Jess.

Nyree Huyser

Nyree also managed to get all four coaches to turn their chairs for her rendition of Stone Cold by Demi Lovato. Rita called the performance “next level” while Guy questioned: “Where have you been hiding?”.

The 37-year-old mother of three opted to go with Team Rita.

Caitlyn Bamber

Year 11 student – and Guy Sebastian super fan – Caitlyn bravely belted out Guy’s song Where Have You Been Hiding. The risk paid off and both he and Jason turned their chairs. After an impressive pitch by Jason, Caitlyn shocked the audience by choosing his teams, instead of Guys.

Maz Green

Guy and Jess both spun their chairs for Maz, who covered TikTok tune Snap by Rosa Linn. After a face-off between the two judges, Maz chose Team Guy.

Sihana Haxhnikaj

Sixteen-year-old Sihana joined Team Rita after the pop singer spun for her performance of Miley Cyrus’s Nothing Breaks Like A Heart.

The Voice continues 7.30pm on Tuesday on Channel 7 and 7plus.

The Block 2023 Recap Episode 6: More tears as a Body Corporate is called to discuss #NickGate

It’s episode five of The Block 2023 and Studio week gets underway!

The good news is, the bathrooms have already been completed after some serious tears and drama. The best news though?! These renovated additions will serve as the lush homes our Blockheads can stay in during their ~jOurNeY~.

The morning after the judging

It’s the morning after the judging and Leah is fuming after the judges called her bathroom “half-baked”. It’s not half-baked, goddamn it! It was a bloody work of art!

Meanwhile, her arch nemesis Steph and her husband, Gian, have now found new builders. The catch? They can only stay onsite for two weeks. Lol.

While this is already drama of epic proportions, Ash is furious that Steph’s dad Nick helped them and broke The Block rules, working without being paid or inducted.

Ash then calls a body corporate meeting but before the blessed affair, he runs into Steph and Gian at the McCafe telling the shocked pair why the meeting was taking place.

Whether it was a breach or not, Steph feels she is being attacked.

The Body Corporate

Unsurprisingly, Leah runs the Body Corporate and tensions rise with Kyle accusing Leah of talking over everyone.

“No one talks to me like that,” she says.

After the heated discussions, Steph and Gian promise to make amends by paying Nick and promise that next time he will be inducted…but most of the other couples are still P**SED.

There’s a clear group divide

Kyle and Leslie get a surprise after their Week 1 reveal win when they arrive at Scotty’s house in Gisborne. They are joined by avid Block buyer, Danny Wallis

While they’re living it up on vacay, Steph is in tears — again — when she realises she has to find a third builder. To make matters worse, when she goes shopping with Liberty and Leslie, they run into Kristy and Leah and a clear divide among the women is formed.

The Block airs on Sunday at 7:00pm and continues Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

The new season of The Masked Singer is set to have a singer that’s so famous that the judges are left in shock at the reveal.

The new trailer teases that the season will see a “Grammy-winning global superstar” as well as a ‘Hollywood heartthrob”.

While no celebrities are actually revealed in the clip (because that would, you know, ruin the whole concept of the show), the judges are shown being absolutely blown away by one of the reveals.

Viewers also get a first look at the masks that will be taking centre stage in the upcoming season. Among them are a cute-looking blue cow, a slightly creepy crash dummy and a strangely beautiful space fairy.

The Voice Australia 2023 Recap Episode 4: Guy’s backup singer stuns the coaches

It’s episode four of The Voice Australia 2023 and a backup singer from two of the coaches past took to the stage in the blind auditions.

The episode saw coaches Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Jason Derulo and Rita Ora stack their teams with some seriously impressive talent.

See below for the highlights from the 2023 Blind Auditions #4!

Tarryn Stokes

Tarryn from Victoria sang backup vocals for both Guy and Jess over a decade ago and blew all four judges away on The Voice with her performance of She Used To Be Mine by Sara Bareilles.

She spoke openly about her struggles with self-doubt.

“After having kids I had a bit of a break from singing, I tried to work on myself, so my confidence has built up a little bit,” she said.

However, Tarryn’s talent was obvious and all of the judges spun their chairs for her. Jason said that he felt like he “should have paid for that performance” but she chose Team Rita, who declared that she “felt like she one of the best singers in the competition.”

Nick Cunningham

It was a similar story for Nick who also got chair turns from all four judges for his rendition of Men at Work’s Down Under but chose to go with Team Rita.

Jess said that the cover was “the most epic and hauntingly beautiful version”, while Jason sang his praises. “You are a one-man band; you could play arenas,” he said.

Robbie Hunt

Robbie was one of Team Guy’s latest recruits after turning three of the judge’s chairs for his performance of Lewis Capaldi’s Forget Me. Jason was blocked by Guy, and he wasn’t happy about it.

“I got blocked before I even had a chance to turn, it’s brutal. It’s cutthroat here, everybody has brought their A-game!’ Jason said.

Alex Jeans

Alex caught the attention of Jess and Jason, who both turned for him for his take on Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. While both coaches lay down impressive pitches, he ultimately chose Team Jason.

Sean Millis

Sean got chair turns from Jess and Rita for his beautiful rendition of 7 Years by Lukas Graham. Post-performance Lukas opened up about living with a rare disease called Hunters Syndrome and how much singing means to him.

The Voice continues 7.30pm on Monday on Channel 7 and 7plus.

The Traitors Recap Episode 1: Traitors 1. Faithful 0 – season 2 starts off with a bang

It’s episode one of The Traitors Australia and Rodger Corser is back with a deliciously dangerous game of lies, deception and betrayal.

Twenty players, including an exciting mix of everyday Aussies and some very famous faces, descended on the Grand Old Hotel to win up to a quarter of a million dollars in silver bars.

Once everyone was acquainted, the cast was summoned into the Banishment Room, where three players were secretly picked to be the Traitors. They were Blake, Ash and Sam.

And even though he wasn’t chosen, Australian Survivor alum Luke Toki was ready to sniff them out — and as we all know, not much can get passed him!

The Challenge

During the first challenge, the Traitors and the Faithful worked together to begin building their prize pool having to send a Flaming Phar Lap down into a gate and set it alight.

Split into two teams, they were also playing for a “life-saving” prize that protected them from murder.

Simone succeeded in the challenge and was safe and $40,000 worth of silver bars was added to the prize pot.

The Traitors challenge one. Ten

Who was murdered and who was banished?

The three Traitors met in the Traitors Tower, excited over their first meeting, before Anjelica was the first player to be murdered.

Then, during the first Banishment Ceremony of the season, Sarah and Ash became the two main suspects; however, Annabel through anything off by saying they were focusing on the wrong type of suspect, accusing Corinne.

With the deciding vote, Gyton also chose Corinne, who was the first to be Banished. Of course, she was a Faithful.

18 remain as The Traitors Australia 2023 continues on August 14 on 10 and 10Play.

The Block 2023 Recap Episode 5: See the stunning Guest Bathroom room reveals from Week 1

It’s episode five of The Block 2023 and it’s finally time to see the guest bathroom room reveals our Blockheads have been working on during week one.

Before we get stuck into showing off their stunning creations, here’s a list of what happened during the episode.

  • Kyle and Leslie and Leah and Ash both think that they are the only house doing curves.
  • Steph and Gian are still struggling with their builder Ryan and decide it’s time to get a new team in.
  • Leah catches Steph talking to her stone maker, given that they already can’t stand each other, she thinks she is trying to steal her trades. “Is she dumb and innocent or smart and sneaky?” she tells Kristy, gossiping once again.
  • Steph’s dad Nick arrives at The Block once again and it appears he may have helped House 4 with their renovations. Leah and Kristy see red! “Is it cheating?” Eliza asks.
  • New judge Marty Fox finally joins Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer to judge the rooms.

Room Reveals

House 1 Kyle and Leslie – $30,366

Positives: The judges love the curved ceiling, with Marty saying it will photograph nicely. They also agree it has a lovely, warm feeling about it.

Negatives: Shaynna was concerned by the placement of the drain in the bathroom and Darren took issue with the fact that there was no underfloor heating in their bathroom.

House 2 Leah and Ash – $19,691

Positives: Once again, the judges loved the curved ceiling and Darren also loved the “bold style” and Venetian plaster walls.

Negatives: Marty thought the dark green made the bathroom feel like a nightclub and that the door placement was incorrect. The judges also felt the white toilet stood out for all the wrong reasons and Shaynna called the styling “half-baked”.

Naturally, Leah was upset over the judging, especially when Marty cautioned the couple not to be so bold throughout the rest of the house.

House 3 – Kristy and Brett – $17,534

Positives: It felt like a day spa.

Negatives: Overall, there were mixed reactions from the judges. Even though it felt calming, they didn’t think the theme was executed that well, with Marty calling it “bland”.

They also had issues with the industrial-style shower screen, with Marty saying the entire space had “no emotional connection”.  Darren was concerned by the mixed styles in the bathroom, urging them to pick one and stick to it.

House 4 – Steph and Gian – $22,362

Positives: The bottom half of the bathroom was a success.

Negatives: The judges didn’t like the beams, saying they didn’t “look rustic” and their one and only towel rail didn’t work.

House 5 – Eliza and Liberty – $26,262

Positives: Darren’s initial feeling was “wow” and they loved the tiles, with the feeling of the bathroom noted as “divine”.

Negatives:  The judges felt that the mixed metals didn’t really work and neither did the placement of the flush of the toilet.

The Verdict

Kyle and Leslie took out the win and were granted a one-night getaway at Scott Cam’s house in Gisborne from last season.

Fans are going WILD over this insane IRL detail in And Just Like That

The casting of Aidan Shaw’s ex-wife in And Just Like That has broken the fourth wall and sent fans spiralling, because of the mindblowing real-life link to the actress.

In season two, episode nine, Carrie Bradshaw is introduced to her on-and-off boyfriend Aidan’s ex-wife Cathy (Rosemarie DeWitt) for the first time. While the meeting may seem awkies enough, in reality, it’s SO much more.

Fans of the show may remember that DeWitt played a lawyer named Fern at Miranda’s law firm in Sex and the City.

Sex and the City. Max.

However, hardcore SATC fans will know that the casting of DeWitt runs so much deeper. She is actually the IRL wife of Ron Livingston, who played Carrie’s long-term boyfriend Berger in Sex and the City. Whew, that is some Taylor Swift-style Easter Egg dropping.

What did fans say about the casting of Rosemarie DeWitt as Aidan’s ex-wife?

Because absolutely nothing gets past SATC fans, Twitter (X?!) erupted with hundreds of users posting about the real-life crossover.

Are Ron Livingston and Rosemarie DeWitt still together?

Yep! Rosemarie and Berger, erm, Ron Livingstone are happily married and share two children Gracie James and Esperanza Mae.

What was Carrie and Berger’s storyline in Sex and the City?

Berger was one of Carrie’s long-term boyfriends on the show. However, he’s most famously remembered for dumping her via a post-it note. The note read: “I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.”

Sex and the City. Max.

Even two decades on from the infamous scene, it’s one of the most memorable parts of the iconic season. Speaking in a 2018 interview with Today, Livingstone said that the age of post-it break ups is long gone.

“There’s something about being in the age of texting, and Tinder where, like, a handwritten Post-it note is actually kind of old fashioned and quaint,” he said. “You put some effort into that.”

Hunted Australia is casting for 2024, and there’s one massive twist

For the past two seasons Hunted Australia has seen teams of two Fugitives try to evade a group of Hunters. However, the casting call for the new season suggests that this may be changing.

Interestingly, on the casting page, applicants can select a ‘solo’ or ‘team’ option, indicating that individuals may be on the run in the upcoming season.

“If you are applying alone please complete a SOLO application, if you are applying with a team-mate please complete a TEAM application,” the terms read.

Hunted. Ten.

Elsewhere on the application page, the solo aspect is mentioned again.

“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go on the run from the authorities? What would you do? Who would you trust?” It reads. “If you are ready to be part of a thrilling, life-changing adventure, either in a team of 2 or on your own…apply now.”

If you’re interested in going on the run on a reality show and think you have what it takes to evade the Hunters, you can apply for the show.

How do I apply?

Casting has just opened for Hunted season three, and those interested in applying for the show can do so through the link here.

Hunted. Ten.

What’s the application process like?

Like most Australian reality shows, the first step is answering a lengthy questionnaire. Some of the questions include: Why would you want to go on the run? What would you like to get away from? and Describe a typical day for you.

Some further questions include Who is the person you will miss the most while on the run and why? How do you feel about the level of surveillance in Australia? and Do you feel watched or does it make you feel safe?

After the application form is completed, the casting team will contact successful applicants for further details and, potentially, interviews.

Hunted. Ten.

Where is Hunted 2024 filmed?

It’s yet to be officially confirmed where Hunted Australia 2024 will be filmed. However, considering both season one and two were filmed in Victoria, it’s likely that the third season will be filmed there too.

Here’s where you’ve seen some of the famous faces on The Traitors Australia 2023 before

This year, there won’t only be three traitors on The Traitors Australia – there will also be a selection of famous faces amongst the cast.

Seven of the hopefuls heading into The Traitors residence are probably already familiar to many Aussies. Amongst them are reality TV stars, a gold Logie winner and a TikTok celeb.

Check out all the famous faces competing on The Traitors Australia 2023.

Ash Pollard

Job: Reality star

Location: Victoria

The Traitors. Seven.

Ash, a reality TV veteran, has conquered cooking, dancing, and surviving the jungle to become an unapologetic TV and radio personality.

With two young daughters, she’s sharp and strategic, which has been her survival kit in the cutthroat entertainment industry for a solid decade. Now, leaving her family behind to become a Traitor contestant, she said she’s doing it for her fam.

“It’s so cliché but I could not live without them. I would literally die for them. The decision to do this was tough but for a chance at that prize money, that will cover nappies and wipes until forever!”

Based in Melbourne and up for the challenge, Ash says that she hates lying but acknowledged it might be necessary to make it to the end.

“I despise lying as a general rule. I think it’s pathetic. White lies I feel are okay. You know, white lies you tell your kids, white lies if you’re trying to set up a surprise party… lying on The Traitors, I can understand and I think I may be doing a lot of that and I’m okay with that. I will do whatever it takes to win. If that means lying every single day, then I’ll do it.”

Gyton Grantley

Job: Actor

Location: Victoria

The Traitors. Seven.

Gyton is a well-known Australian actor who starred as Carl Williams in the original Underbelly series. He’s concerned that his career could jeopardize his chances in The Traitors.

“Let’s imagine people are aware I’m an actor, it could be an advantage or a disadvantage. I’m an actor so people will probably assume I’m very good at lying but I see being an actor as trying to find the truth in things, so hopefully people can trust me. I don’t know if it will help or hinder me, it’s catch 22.”

Gyton considers himself a strategist and is looking forward to the gameplay element of the competition. However, he says at the end of the day the reason he joined the show is for his family.

“I am a family man, it’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Hannah Ferrier

Job: Former Below Deck chief stew

Location: New South Wales

The Traitors. Seven.

After countless years as a chief stew on superyachts, Hannah has become a master in deciphering human behaviour. The former Below Deck chief stew has dealt with a myriad of personalities and situations, and has undoubtedly seen it all.

“I started filming Below Deck nearly 10 years ago and I feel like the person I was back then and who I am today are now two very different people. I’m a mum now, I have a mortgage and responsibilities,” she says.

She says that her husband has warned her to not get too comfortable with the other The Traitors competitors. “I’m worried I might talk too much which could be my downfall. I need to remember what my husband told me – not everything that goes in your head needs to come out of your mouth,” she says.

Luke Toki

Job: Survivor all-star

Location: Western Australia

The Traitors. Seven.

Known for his entertaining and strategic gameplay, Luke has gained immense popularity through his appearances on Australian Survivor. Now a father of three and a real estate agent, Luke is ready to bring chaos to The Traitors.

“Stabbing people in the back? That’s my bread and butter! Haha only in the games, not in real life. I want to get in there and make as many friends as possible to get people on my side and to stick with me… but if you look at me funny, I’m going to vote you out!” He says.

Ian Zaro

Job: Content creator

Location: Queensland

The Traitors. Seven.

With a whopping two million TikTok followers, Ian hails from Queensland as a content creator who is the life of the party. From transforming into Tina Turner to a pineapple costume for clips on the app, he effortlessly switches characters on social media and will use his adaptability to gain an edge in the game.

While being a social media personality can be easily misunderstood, Ian aims to defy stereotypes and present a new kind of influencer. He explains, “I feel like with content these days, it’s always the stereotypical beautiful person who seem to have their life in order. I wanted to be different and I’m random, I’m having fun and it’s also been fun to be one of the OG Indigenous creators in Australia as well.”

No stranger to online trolls, Ian plans to turn the tables by keeping a thick skin and handling any challenging situations that come his way.

Simone Williams

Job: Professional wrestler

Location: Los Angeles

The Traitors. Seven.

Simone is not your typical wrestler. By day, she may seem charming and sweet, but when she steps into the ring, she transforms into Princess Aussie, a force to be reckoned with.

She’s been a professional wrestler for five years, and says that her career has taught her how to be tough.

“In professional wrestling, everyone’s coming for your spot, it’s never safe. You have to always be on your game. So I feel like that will help me here because I won’t take anything on face value.”

Simone says that while she’s looking forward to the social aspects of the game, she’ll never take her eyes off the prize.

“Although I’m really looking forward to meeting a lot of people and making some cool friends, my eyes are on the prize. I’m going to make the moves I need in order for me to win.”

Paul de Gelder

Job: Former elite soldier

Location: Los Angeles

The Traitors. Seven.

Paul is a former elite soldier, shark attack survivor, and part-time rapper. He was attacked by a bull shark in Sydney Harbour in 2009 while he was doing a counter-terrorism exercise.

“Fortunately for me, I don’t have flashbacks or nightmares or hold onto things like that. I’ve been through enough in my life to realise that was just another chapter and life goes on. I also have that dark military humour and Aussie humour so I take the positive and found it catapulted me into knowing more about myself,” he said of the attack.

He says he doesn’t want to be a “leader” in The Traitors in order to avoid having a target on his back.

“I can be the follower. I can fit into any scenario and sometimes you just have to shut off your emotions and I’m very good at that,” he says.

The Traitors airs on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays at 7.30 pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Interview: It looks like The Traitors Australia 2023 celebs have an edge over their competition

In 2022, The Traitors Australia cast was filled to the brim with regular joes like you and me; however, this year, there are some very famous faces joining the ranks.

While the entire group have an advantage over their predecessors, it turns out that the celebs could have an extra edge over the competition and there’s a very obvious reason why.

“They’re career reality TV contestants,” host Rodger Corser told Chattr in an interview before the series premiere.

“They’ve [the celebs} done this, and they’ve done the media afterwards. They have done interviews and they kind of know how a show is going to be put together and they have a knowledge of what works on screen. So, they bring a version of themselves which is going to get screen time.”

This year, the group of Faithfuls and Traitors include Below Deck alum Hannah FerrierMy Kitchen Rules’ Ash Pollard, actor Gyton Grantley and Australian Survivor‘s Luke Toki to name a few.

Luke Toki, Ash Pollard, Hannah Ferrier and Gyton Grantley. Ten

He continued: “This is like shock jock radio, you can’t sit on the fence, you have to have an opinion. Even if that opinion is totally wrong, you’ve just got to put your foot in one camp.”

Why do all contestants have an advantage this season?

While last year, the contestants went in mostly blind to the experience, this year, they knew exactly what to expect.

For Corser, the cast having this valuable information about the game meant that after the first murder, it was “game on”.

“The first episode, it’s great, but a few things need to happen obviously,” he said. “Once the shock of losing the first person and being banished — which they usually get wrong — and the first murder, then it’s really kind of game on.”

The Traitors cast

Last year, contestants were only given clues as to what the show was about during the application process; however, in 2023, they’ve seen a whole other season.

“Everyone was on an even playing field of naivety I suppose,” he said. “But this year, they’re not. Annabel [contestant], she’s quite blatantly going, ‘No one knows more about the show than I do. I’ve seen every English speaking [series], I’ve listened to every podcast.’”

Perhaps the biggest trump card of all? Knowing that they have to get in there and make an impact. And fast.

The Traitors airs on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays at 7.30 pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Meet the cast of The Traitors Australia who are ready to lie and deceive their way to the end

The Traitors Australia is back for a brand new season, and this year there will be 20 cast members ready to use any means possible to make it to the end and collect the $250,000 prize money.

Amongst the competitors are some well-known Australian celebrities, as well as some everyday Aussies. While all of the contestants are entering the game with the same intention, three of them will secretly be informed that they are the Traitors and their mission is to jeopordise the other contestants.

Who those Traitors are, we don’t know yet. However, you can find out more about all twenty of the competitors below.

Anjelica

Job: Lawyer

Location: NSW

The Traitors. Seven.

Anjelica, the corporate lawyer turned pageant queen, proudly declares herself as the brunette version of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.

Representing Australia on the international pageant stage, Anjelica holds the title of reigning Miss International Australia. While she loves her life in pageantry, it’s the thrill of the courtroom that really excites her.

“I very much love the adrenaline you get when you step foot into that courtroom. It’s like a stage room so as soon as I walk in, it’s game face and performance. And you don’t finish that performance until the judge stamps that gavel!”

Should she win, Anjelica plans to gift her prize money to her mum.

Annabel

Job: Customer success manager

Location: Victoria

The Traitors. Seven.

Although she may appear innocent, Annabel is no pushover saying, “I’m like a chihuahua. You hear me before you see me but also, if you mess with me, I’ll bite your face off”.

Annabel is a massive Australian Survivor fan and a huge game player. She was born in the UK but currently resides in Melbourne as a customer success manager.

While the excitement of the game and pursuing Traitors attracts her, there is a more significant reason she wants to win the show, and that’s for her beloved toy poodle, Puffy Fluffykins.

“Last year I suffered a devastating loss. Puffy Fluffykins developed a taste for exquisite fabrics and destroyed my entire cashmere sweater collection. The prize money will go a long way in repairing the broken trust, and perhaps even providing Puffs with some cashmere sweaters of his own.”

Acknowledging that undertaking missions aren’t exactly her forte, Annabel says she will rely on her social abilities and hope it will take her far in the game.

Ash

Blake

Job: Beer sales manager

Location: Victoria

The Traitors. Seven.

With his happy-go-lucky demeanour and addiction to board games, Blake is betting on his strategy and charm to conquer The Traitors.

“I think my cheeky, double-dimpled smile and witty repartee has got me here and hopefully I can strategise and play the game to the fullest that gets me to the end,” he said.

The beer salesman says he has a deep desire to win the game and to take care of his mother who battles Huntington’s Disease. “In the past, my Mum would enjoy coming along to live stand up shows that I’d be a part of and I know being on this would be something she’d enjoy watching. I’d love to make her proud.”

Camille

Job: Former federal agent

Location: Australian Capital Territory

The Traitors. Seven.

Entering the game as a japanese tour guide, Camille is set to surprise everyone by revealing her secret past as a Federal Agent for over 17 years. From drug importations to fraud, money laundering to people smuggling, and personal protection, she’s done it all. Now, armed with her fluency in Japanese, Camille plans to put her undercover skills to use in locating The Traitors.

Although her current life revolves around being a stay-at-home mom of three kids, dealing with school lunches, pick-ups, drop-offs, and even dog duties, Camille’s past has shaped her significantly. She believes her diverse experiences will give her an edge in the game, combining her observational skills from her previous cop life with the joys of being a mom.

If Camille goes all the way and wins the game, she has plans to use the prize money to buy a campervan and take her kids on trips across Australia.

Corinne

Job: Nurse/cattle owner

Location: Queensland

The Traitors. Seven.

Despite being one of the eldest participants in the game at 61, Corinne refuses to let anything hinder her. She takes on swimming, mountain biking, and cross-country running, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Corinne, a nurse and a cattle station owner is no stranger to hard work and tough situations. From living in Arnhem Land to managing stock in Queensland as a grazier, she’s accustomed to putting in the time and effort.

“I think all my experience has given me resilience and a good bulls**t detector. I can relax amongst the chaos but not be chaos myself. I don’t think I’m going to have problems working out who’s not honest,” she says.

Elias

Job: Social media influencer

Location: New South Wales

The Traitors. Seven.

Juggling his corporate career and being an influencer, Elias admits that his friends call him “Hannah Montana”.

However, Elias reveals that he’ll be presenting himself as the latter. “I do want to keep a secret that I have a double degree in finance and marketing and corporate strategy. I don’t want anyone to know I’m educated and highly intelligent. I want them to think I’m just a social media influencer who is there to have a good time,” he said.

Elias says that he knows being successful at the game will require a lot of deception on his behalf – something that he’s not afraid of.

“I am very blunt and direct. I hate beating around the bush and would use that to influence people when I need to,” he says.

Gloria

Job: Disability support worker

Location: Victoria

The Traitors. Seven.

Gloria, a part-time model and a disability support worker, might be a good Christian, but she won’t shy away from playing tricks to get what she wants. Being an identical twins, she and her sister would occasionally swap places to mess with people. She believes that a few little white lies won’t hurt if she is chosen as the Traitor.

“It is very interesting for me to be in this game because as a Christian, we try not to lie but this is a game of lying and just knowing it’s a game, it’ll be okay. I know God understands.”

She adds that she’s not intimidated by those who will underestimate her. “To all the professionals, the psychologists, the criminal justice lawyers, anyone who thinks they have an advantage in this game, I’m coming for you. You will be beaten by a disability support worker!” She says.

Gyton

Hannah

Ian

Keith

Job: Former undercover cop

Location: Victoria

The Traitors. Seven.

Keith, a highly decorated ex-police officer, was practically born to play this game. With over 20 years of experience as a police officer, he’s been everywhere from undercover operations to negotiating hostage situations. But don’t expect him to spill all the juicy details anytime soon!

“I’m not telling anybody of my past as a cop because the Traitors would immediately look at me as a threat. They would think I’m able to uncover lies, which I can. I would rather be the retired corporate executive, the older guy, who has lived a life that’s a bit boring and sit in the middle,” he said.

Donning two Police Valour Medals, an Australian Bravery Medal, Queensland Police Ethical Service Medal, National Medal, and National Police Service Medal, Keith is ready to embrace his darker side and venture into an entirely different world.

Liam

Job: Apprentice electrician

Location: Tasmania

The Traitors. Seven.

Liam is an apprentice electrician from a small town in Tasmania called St Mary’s. The town has a tiny population and says The Traitors Hotel is going to be a big adjustment.

“I’ve never stayed in a five-star hotel in my life so going in here, I’m going to go into my room and just be so excited. I might steal the soap, some of those shampoo samples, that’s all going in the luggage.”

Liam says his interpersonal skills will help him charm people along the way. “Being on the work site, I’ve learned a lot about what not to say and what to say. So I think coming here, they’ll think he’s just a young, dumb guy but I’m not. I’m good at solving problems and puzzles and I think it’ll help me in the game.”

Luke

Job: Survivor all-star

Location: Western Australia

The Traitors. Seven.

Known for his entertaining and strategic gameplay, Luke has gained immense popularity through his appearances on Australian Survivor. Now a father of three and a real estate agent, Luke is ready to bring chaos to The Traitors.

“Stabbing people in the back? That’s my bread and butter! Haha only in the games, not in real life. I want to get in there and make as many friends as possible to get people on my side and to stick with me… but if you look at me funny, I’m going to vote you out!” He says.

Paeden

Job: Graphic designer

Location: South Australia

The Traitors. Seven.

Paeden is a graphic designer from Adelaide who has been immersed in strategy games since day one. He considers being cast on The Traitors a dream-come-true.

“Clearly it was my bulging biceps that got me on the show,” he jokes. “Actually, I’ve played these games my whole life. I know what it takes to win. It’s a balance of deception, social politics and relationship management. Coming in with a game mindset, lets me go in with nothing to lose. I don’t need more friends, I have plenty at home.”

Paeden said he’s not afraid to upset people on his quest to win. “If you signed up to play a show called The Traitors and have some sort of moral compass and want to talk down on those playing the best game pretending it’s against your ethics, you are an out-and-out moron.”

Paul

Roha

Job: Fashion designer

Location: Western Australia

The Traitors. Seven.

Roha, a natural showman, is a creative director at a dance studio. He believes his passion for fashion will help him pick out the Traitor.

“I can spot an untrustworthy person if they wear all black shoes with white socks. That is a fashion no-no! Do not come at me if you are wearing black shoes and white socks, it’s giving school kid,” he said.

Roha has a warning for the Traitors setting out the deceive him. “If I’m a Faithful, Traitors this is a message for you – you better sleep with one eye open because I’m watching your every move, every outfit, everything you say. I’m coming for you.”

Sam

Job: Marketing consultant

Location: Queensland

The Traitors. Seven.

Sam is a globetrotting marketing videographer for big-shot international brands, and he knows a thing or two about adapting his style to fit the occasion.

“I deal with all sorts of brands and businesses,” Sam explained. “So, I’ve got, like, seven different personalities in a day. One minute, I’m a fitness guru, the next, I’m selling garden equipment.”

“I have a really good game face, I’m just gonna be nice and pleasant, but when it really comes down to the crunch, I know what I need to do.”

Sarah

Job: Clinical psychotherapist

Location: South Australia

The Traitors. Seven.

With experience as a clinical psychotherapist within the prison system, Sarah has had her fair share of encounters with all kinds of people and their stories. She’s usually the person people trust, so she’s looking forward to switching that up in the game.

“I don’t want them to know I can sniff out crap. When people meet me, they either love me and my energy or other people think I’m too much. I need to be playing myself but a little bit vanilla.”

Sarah says if she wins the game she’ll use the money to get her mum a knee replacement and take her fiancée Sharon on a holiday to Santorini.

Simone

The Traitors premieres August 13 at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.

Interview: Below Deck’s Captain Jason on how he decides if a crew member needs to be fired

Barely a season of Below Deck goes by without at least one crew member being fired.

Most recently, the BD universe was sent spiralling after two Below Deck Down Under employees were fired over some shocking sexual misconduct. In light of that, BDDU Captain Jason Chambers has explained how he decides if a crew member needs to be let go.

“Personally, it’s not something I like to do obviously. I’ve been told I’ve got an art to make people feel like it [being fired] is a good thing for them,” he said in a post-filming interview on Mediaweek and Chattr’s The Entertainment Hotline Podcast on July 19.

Below Deck. Hayu.

Captain Jason explained that there are two parameters that he considers when deciding if someone needs to be dismissed from the boat.

“I feel that as a captain if there’s someone that’s not going to be at the top of their game, that’s where I’m going to make a change from a professional and qualified perspective,” he said.

“And then from a personal perspective, if there’s someone that’s really badly behaved towards another crew member, I’m definitely not going to tolerate that too,” he said. “I haven’t got the time to sift through it and try and make it all come out in nice fluffy, big flowers. There’s not enough time. If you’re not going to get on the train, you can get off it.”

What does Captain Jason look for in replacement staff?

Captain Jason explained that finding replacement staff for a fired crew member isn’t as simple as just finding anyone to fill the empty gap.

“You’re not going to just replace someone for the same result. So if I can bring someone else in, it’s going to be the other piece of the pie that I need.

Captain Jason. Instagram.

“So I’ll have a chat with them and say, ‘This is what I need, this is what I was missing and this is what I want out of you and to make that pie complete.'”

“And, there is a goal. And my goal is to try to get to the best team and the best outcomes with the best tips at the end of the season. That’s my goal, my own mantra.”

Captain Jason explains how rushed Below Deck seasons are

Captain Jason said that Below Deck seasons have much less time between charters than a regular yachting season, which leads to elevated drama on the show.

“In six weeks we are doing what most boats are doing in four months. A good charter boat might do eight charters maximum a year, we’re doing nine charters in six weeks.

Below Deck season one cast. Instagram.

“Also, you’re getting a whole crew that’s never worked together before. There’s not a week between charters where they can patch things up, or not be hung over and move on. They’re going to be hungover, it’s going to carry on to the next charter and it’s going to fester, that’s why the show is so good. It allows what would happen over a longer period of time in our industry to happen very quickly, so the audience can see it happen.”

Interview: No, The Block 2023 contestants were not cast to cause drama

With all the conflict on The Block 2023, it’s easy to assume that casting played a part in manufacturing the drama, however, a Network Nine bigwig has confirmed that’s not the case.

An anonymous production source told Yahoo Lifestyle that The Block production team set out to find women who were “highly competitive with an insatiable need to be liked”.

They added: “Last year the houses were too far apart and we realised that the usual tension was missing… We immediately knew we needed to change that this season.”

But, Nine’s Head of Content, Production and Development, Adrian Swift told Chattr during an interview before the series premiere that the production team didn’t cast contestants based on their ability to cause drama with one another.

“There is nothing we engineer,” he said. “This is nothing that we produce to get a lot more drama between the contestants, [it just happens] because they’re in such close proximity.”

“We cast purely on: ‘What will they bring to the show?’ We try and balance the guys, we try and balance it by skill level, we try and balance it by state, we try and make sure there’s always diversity in the cast. We try and make sure that the relationships aren’t all offensive, for example, that they’re not all couples.” he added.

“You can’t introduce too many variables into the cast otherwise you don’t get a full deck of cards.”

While many fans have speculated that younger contestants were cast this year in the hope of added drama, Swift made a point of saying that it wasn’t a concerted effort.

“We didn’t go how can we make a younger this year,” he said. “I’ll be honest, it does feel that way and I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad thing but it certainly wasn’t something we set out to achieve.”

How does The Block weave in drama?

Swift also explained that the show tries to focus on home renovation first and foremost, and aims to stay away from unrelated conflict.

“I think what you’ve got to do is remember that it’s a show about renovating. And it’s an argument we always have, it’s a show about renovating, and you can have drama provided in the context of what they’re doing to their properties,” he said.
