MasterChef Recap Episode 18: A nostalgic Service Challenge spelled chaos for six cooks

It’s episode 18 of MasterChef Australia 2023 and Nostalgia Week continues.

During the May 31 episode, it was all about evoking childhood memories with dinner from a Chinese restaurant and the home cooks were delivering just that. Literally.

For this week’s Service Challenge, the contestants took over a suburban Melbourne Chinese restaurant, Mei Jing, where, in two teams, they were required to create “everything we love about Aussie Chinese restaurants in a three-course meal”. I.e. A menu of entrée, main plus a side and dessert.

Tasked with feeding 50 diners, there were 2.5 hours of prep and cooking on the clock, before the first meals needed to be served!. Plus whoever took out the sweet (and sour) win would be placed in June 1’s Immunity Challenge for a shot at a coveted Immunity Pin.

Now you’re all caught up, it’s time for SERVICE!

The Teams

After judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen announced the task at hand, it was revealed that Theo had been to Mei Jing at least “100 times”, given that he used to live across the road.

“Technically, you have an advantage tonight, you’re playing at home!” Jock said.

Choosing randomly from the apron bag, the teams were set as follows:

Red Team: Theo (Team Captain), Brent, Cath, Declan, Robbie, Malissa

Purple Team: Rue (Team Captain), Grace, Rhiannon, Ralph, Antonio, Phil

White Apron: Adi (she chose the red team to back)

Prep and Cook Time

The Red team chose to recreate San Choy Bow, Beef and Black Bean and Lychee and Ice Cream, while the Purple team chose Pork and Prawn Spring Rolls, Lemon Chicken with Fried Rice and Pineapple Fritters with Ice Cream.

In the perfect product placement, both Theo and Rue then legged it to Coles to pick up their proteins. Rue grabbed the Black Tiger Prawns while Theo grabbed the Pork Mince.

On the Red team, Declan was in charge of slicing meat, Robbie began chopping veggies and Brent began to prep peanuts, ginger, garlic and Sichuan chilli oil for the San Choy Bow.

On the Purple team, Rhiannon took charge of the Spring Rolls, mentoring Grace.

Rhiannon and Grace. Ten

The judges were concerned by Rue’s choice to grill the Lemon Chicken and serve it with steamed rice as the classic is all fried, baby!

Rue began feeling “stressed”, deciding to go back to the classic, complete with Fried Rice.

With only two hours to go, Brent reveals he’s been cutting garlic for half-an-hour, while Declan continued slicing the meat before getting onto the Black Bean Sauce, which he was feeling confident about.

“I’m with my number one teammate, Robbie,” he said. “We work well together.”

Robbie and Declan. Ten

While Antonio was in a good place with his ice cream with only one hour left until service, Cath began stressing out, particularly because she forgot about the cream.

Crisis averted! Cath and Theo were able to save the dish by adding the component, with Theo remaining calm under pressure.

“We’re a team, that’s what it’s all about,” he said.

Over on the Purple team, Phil began to worry that Ralph hadn’t made the lemon sauce for the Lemon Chicken and the entire group began to freak out.

Ralph. Ten

It was “all hands on deck” for the Red team as they began to create their “elevated” San Choy Bow, before Cath realised they’d be feeding “real people”! LOL!

Rhiannon then took charge of the chaotic Purple team, feeling that they were “in trouble” before Mel came over with under 30 minutes to go, and was shocked to see not one Spring Roll had been rolled.

“It’s just a matter of charging ahead,” Rhiannon said, while admitting she’s never been more stressed in her life.

Meanwhile, Theo was thrilled by their San Choy Bow.

The Judging — Entree

The Red team were up first with their Pork San Choy Bow.

“[It’s a] Nice generous portion,” Jock said while saying it was “packed” full of flavour. Andy said it was “nice juicy pork”, while Jock and Mel liked the addition of “duck fat”.

Red team’s entree. Ten

While the judges were being served, the Purple team struggled to get their Spring Rolls out; however, managed to serve the dish.

“I’m so happy for them,” Mel said, adding that it was a “miracle” they got something on the plate.

Mel also said they had a “nice golden fry” and that the filling “contained a nice perfume of ginger”, while Andy said he was: “Happy on the fry, super crispy and delicious.”

Mel and a Purple team entree. Ten

The Judging — Mains

Back in the kitchen, sweet Declan was “bloody happy” with his Beef and Black Bean Sauce, which was then sent to the judges.

“They’ve done a pretty good job,” Jock said of the beef, “That’s Declan. I’m telling you.”

Andy then said that the velveting on the meat was “epic” plus there was a great amount of black beans in the sauce.

Purple Team’s main. Ten

Over on the Purple team, stress levels were at an all-time high because the lemon sauce still hadn’t been completed.

“The sauce is going to need a hell of a lot of work and no time to do it,” Phil said. After an ad break, they were still going until finally it was served to the judges.

“Nice marination on it, good fry on it,” Andy said, but added that there wasn’t enough lemon in the sauce.

Mel said it was “ok but not quite there”, while Jock said it “didn’t live up to its namesake”.

Purple team’s main. Ten

The Judging — Dessert

The Red team was in trouble with their dessert, with Cath “snowballing” and the lychee syrup sauce not even completed, while some of the ice creams weren’t even in the freezer.

Antonio then checked the Purple team’s ice cream, which…did not look like ice cream.

When placed in front of the judges, they were disappointed.

“The ice cream is not set,” Andy said before Jock said that the “organisation” was the most challenging thing for the team.

Purple team’s dessert. Ten

Cath was “really worried” about their dessert, given that their ice cream also failed miserably; however, they just had to serve it.

“What happened? The ice cream is not set,” Jock said before Andy called Cath “chaotic and frantic”, before Mel said she was “disappointed” for them.

Red team’s dessert. Ten

The Verdict

The judges revealed that neither of the desserts was executed well, so they were taking them off the table.

The Red team won the entree with their delicious filling while also winning the main, meaning that they were heading into the Immunity Challenge (alongside Adi) on Thursday!

How to watch the controversial series The Idol in Australia

What do you get when you throw Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, and Lily-Rose Depp on a set together? Well, it looks to us like the answer is a damn juicy new TV series.

The star-studded trio are all part of HBO’s upcoming series The Idol.

The show’s been touted as the ‘next Euphoria‘ and drummed up ridiculous amounts of attention on social media. And, it’s not just fans that are excited about the premiere.

Two episodes of the brand spanking new series were debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and upon wrap they were celebrated with a five-plus minute standing ovation. However, despite the excellent response at the prestigious event, The Idol has bombed on Rotten Tomatoes with an abysmal score of 27%, with the low rating likely linked to its explicit nature.

Reviewing the screening, Variety wrote that the first two episodes are populated with “revenge porn photos of bodily fluids on Depp’s face, masturbation with ice cubes, nightclub-owning scam artists and vile Hollywood sycophants”.

Lily-Rose Depp. Binge.

Rolling Stone’s review was even more scathing.

“The double-dose the festival screened felt nasty, brutish, much longer than it is, and way, way worse than you’d have anticipated,” writer David Fear said in his review.

Regardless of the criticism, the suggestion that The Idol draws parallels to the hit show Euphoria, paired with its excellent reception at Cannes, has us ready to tune in and make a decision for ourselves.

Who’s in the cast of The Idol?

Depp and Grammy Award winner Tesfaye stepped into the leading roles of Jocelyn and Tedros respectively. Tesfaye is also a creator of the show, along with Sam Levison and Reza Fahim.

Some of the other leading roles include Suzanna Son as Chloe, Aussie Troye Sivan as Xander, Moses Sumney as Izaak, Jane Adams as Nikki, and Jennie Kim as Dyanne.

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. Binge.

What is The Idol about?

After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros (played by Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. The series follows the question if her romantic awakening will take her to glorious new heights or to a very dark place.

When will The Idol be released?

For those of us in Australia, the first episode of The Idol will be released on June 5 (the same day as the US) with the following five episodes to drop every following Monday.

Where can I watch it?

The Idol is an HBO show but it can be watched in Australia on Binge.

Is there a trailer?

Yes! You can watch the official trailer below:

MasterChef Recap Episode 17: Rock hard ice cream results in a Pressure Test elimination

It’s MasterChef Australia 2023 episode 17 and last night’s Mystery Box challenge sent three cooks into the kitchen to battle it out in a Pressure Test.

The stakes were high because either Declan, Alice, or Grace was being sent packing from the competition.

The three cooks are greeted by judges Melissa Leong, Jock Zonrillo, and Andy Allen and are introduced to the legendary chef behind the beloved gelato brand Messina, Donato Toce.

In a nod towards Nostalgia Week, the cooks were tasked with creating a Vienetta-looking ice cream cake called Messinetta, which looked surprisingly simple.

The Messinetta. Ten.

However, the catch was revealed when Donato cut into the ice cream cake and revealed the complicated internal structure.

Inside the dessert was a strawberry gel that was set inside a vanilla gelato square, which was inside a chocolate gelato square and covered in vanilla crème chantilly waves with multiple tempered chocolate layers for the classic Viennetta crunch.

Inside the Messinetta. Ten.

Declan, Alice, and Grace all looked slightly overwhelmed by the task at hand; however, were ready to fight for their lives place in the competition.

The Cook

The entire cook section of the Pressure Test was nothing short of shambles and all three contestants had problems throughout the elimination round. This made for great viewing, but it was a bit of a rough trot for Declan, Alice, and Grace.

When the task was revealed, Alice started with a not-so-quiet confidence.

“I love science, and I love baking. So, I’m excited about this,” she said with a smile.

However, moments after saying she felt “pretty organised” her upbeat mood quickly shift as she made her first blunder, forgetting to clean out her ice-cream churner between making her vanilla and chocolate gelato.

The lapse had devastating consequences and left some of the vanilla gelato frozen to the base of the machine.

Alice’s frozen gelato. Ten.

As a result, she had to chip away the leftover frozen vanilla gelato, which cost her valuable time and seemingly left her feeling frazzled. She faced more problems down the track when she discovered that both her vanilla and chocolate gelato was overset.

Meanwhile, Declan started the competition off very strong and quickly took the lead; something he said he wasn’t paying too much attention to.

“Hopefully I’m going at a good steady pace, but I’m not turning around and looking where the girls are up to,” he admitted.

Despite having his Immunity Pin proudly gleaming on his chest, he decided early on that he wouldn’t be using it in the challenge.

“Game plan for my pin today is to not use it, I’d love to take it with me in the competition for when numbers get a bit smaller,” he said.

Declan with his Immunity Pin. Ten.

However, like Alice, he hit a speedbump when he misread an element of his recipe and his tempered chocolate ended up bowed, which risked the entire structure of the Messinetta.

The mistake meant that he had to go back and re-do the element, which deducted a large chunk of time for him at the assembly stage.

While Alice and Declan certainly faced some obstacles, it was Grace who struggled throughout the entire cook. She fell behind when she was unable to get the brix levels right in her first component, the strawberry gel element.

After she completed the first step, Grace’s stress levels peaked when Andy tasted her vanilla ice cream and suggested that something had gone wrong. She made the ballsy move of tasting Alice’s gelato for guidance.

Grace tasting Alice’s gelato. Ten.

“I’m tasting it, and it’s not as sweet as Alice’s gelato. So, all I can do at this point is bring some more sugar into this gelato to hopefully save it,” she explained.

The Judging

Declan was first up to the judge’s bench, and Andy questioned why he decided not to use his Immunity Pin in the Pressure Test challenge.

“There are two ways it’s going to go. One, we taste the dish, it’s epic, you keep the pin on your apron. The second is, we cut this open, something’s wrong with it [and] you get sent home,” the Judge warned.

“It looks a little rough around the edges,” he added after Declan left the room.

Jock with Declan’s Messinetta. Ten.

However, it seems Andy’s worries were unfounded, as all three judges raved about Messinetta and Jock said he “can’t pick holes in it”.

Alice was next and her earlier confidence had all but disappeared.

“My main concerns are the form, it doesn’t look exactly like the original, and then that gelato that melted on the counter,” she said.

Alice’s Messinetta. Ten.

Alice was right, her overset – and consequently melted – gelato was her undoing. The judges found that the issue caused Messinetta’s texture to be icy and dense which widened the gap between her version and Donato’s original.

At this point, it looked like Alice’s only saving grace was the fact that Grace was up next. The 24-year-old was feeling very nervous about her final dish but said she “didn’t want to give up”.

Jock had similar doubts, saying that he didn’t “think this was going to be great”. Fortunately for Grace, her spontaneous choices through the challenge managed to save her dish.

“The strawberry in the centre is delicious, the gelato is beautiful, it’s creamy,” Jock said with surprise.

The Verdict

Declan won the best Messinetta of the day, and Jock declared that it was “so similar to Donato’s in taste”.

The judges said that the texture of Alice’s gelato was a “little bit off”, and she was eliminated from the competition.

MasterChef Australia continues at 7.30 pm on Wednesday, May 31 on 10 and 10Play.

Alex Silvagni reveals what is harder: The Summit or an AFL footy field

The Summit Australia 2023’s Alex Silvagni knows a thing or two about pressure after having played for both the Fremantle and Carlton Football Clubs and now he has revealed which is harder — the footy field or climbing a mountain.

When asked by Chattr before his May 30 elimination which was more difficult, Silvagni revealed that they were equally as challenging.

“They were hard in different ways,” he admitted. “When you’re playing Buddy Franklin in a Grand Final, it’s a packed stadium full of Sydney supporters. It can be a lonely place.

“And then you get towards the end of The Summit and you have the same sort of feeling. It’s a lonely place when you get voted off. You’re surrounded by who you thought were allies.”

Alex Silvagni. Nine

According to the dad-of-two, the “social aspect” of The Summit was the one thing that really pushed him to his limits.

“That gameplay was really difficult at the end of the day, you’d be so exhausted from having to strategise the whole day and thinking about what’s next. The physical element was tough, but it wasn’t as tough as the social aspect.”

What Alex Silvagni really thought of Sam and Jans pushing the Trekkers

By far the most controversial Trekkers were Sam Molineaux and Jans Andre, who had the other competitors off-side from day one.

“You need to not put people offside,” he said. “There’s no point in point in ranting and raving and everything else. It’s not going to move people quickly. You’re just gonna get eliminated very quickly to be honest.”

For Silvagni, he took a more “Switzerland” approach when it came to his gameplay.

“I didn’t want to be to one side or the other,” Silvagni said in an interview with Mediaweek prior to his elimination. “It even was a part of voting for Josh [Waldhorn]. I thought, okay, where are the masses voting? It might’ve been a cop out but I needed to go with that because I’d put a target on my back if I’m opposed to the others and then [I chose to] sit in the middle and be that Switzerland so you’re not sticking out like a sore thumb and putting a target on your back.”

Overall, the experience was exhilarating.

“It was epic. It was just so surreal. The scenery was just absolutely remarkable. So many moving parts and so many obstacles, twists and turns.”

The Summit finale airs on Sunday, June 4 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

The Summit Recap Episode 9: The Trekkers conquer King’s Leap on their final day

It’s episode nine of The Summit and only five Trekkers remain.

As they approach the summit, a brutal twist leaves them in despair. With one teammate slated for expulsion, Jans is worried about his unpopularity, sandwiched amidst pairings Brooke and Lulu and Isaac and Alex.

His plan? To coax Brooke into ousting Alex, hoping it’ll save him. However, Isaac and Alex refuse to go quietly, insisting they’re tight allies with Lulu and Brooke.

Elimination

Team Brooke and Lulu are caught in a battle between strategy and loyalty. They know they should logically get rid of Isaac or Alex for safety in numbers but know that they have been faithful from day one.

In the end, they vote off Alex, who is gutted by their betrayal. Isaac takes off, upset with the outcome, while Jans can’t keep his grin in check. His machinations got him through to The Summit checkpoint!

Alex. Nine

The Final Challenge — King’s Leap

On the last day of a gruelling hike, emotions ran high as the group tackled their first obstacle – King’s Leap. The task involved a deep chasm, a rope, and 15kg bags that each person had to drag across.

Isaac, who was on the chopping block after getting evicted the night before, put his debilitating fear of heights aside to be the first to cross. It looked gruelling, and the group couldn’t help but comment.

Falling halfway through, he had to start again, before, Lulu, a world champion boxer with strong arms, struggled too. After a couple of wavers, she made it to the other side and rejoiced at the sight of the pinnacle of the mountain.

Isaac. Nine

Brooke was up next, and despite her concerns, she channelled her strength and determination to conquer that rope for her kids and a better life.

With sheer grit, she pulls herself across the obstacle, screaming in agony. However, amidst the echoes of her screams, Jans and Isaac hear the Mountain’s Keeper’s arrival.

Brooke was nearly at the end of the obstacle, but she was stricken with terror. Despite this, she rallies herself with some sideline encouragement and sheer perseverance and finally makes it across, exhausted but exhilarated.

Then, it was Jans’ turn to cross, weighed down by his stolen cash. He was concerned that the money would throw off his balance during the crossing.

Although a veteran ultra-marathon runner, the obstacle proved to be a struggle.

Finally, before his crossing, Isaac watched anxiously, having previously attempted the obstacle himself but failed. Even Jans, who was now on the other side, was worried about Isaac’s chances, and the group became uncertain whether to wait for him any longer.

Nine.

The Mountain’s Keeper has one last twist

Isaac was in dire straits regarding his second cross, but when his Jans urged him to think of his mum, he found the strength he needed to push through.

Isaac’s grit and determination saw him attempt the rope once more, impressing his peers with his newfound vigour. But alas, the Mountain’s Keeper was determined to make it a bumpy ride for him.

Although Isaac struggled, his mum’s voice kept him going. He was not a quitter, and he would fight tooth and nail until the very end.

Nine

Isaac finally made it across, much to the delight of his companions, yet, the biggest challenge was yet to come when they stumbled upon a yellow duffel bag dropped by the helicopter in the sky.

With caution, they opened it to reveal a note that would change everything!

The Summit finale will air on Sunday June 4 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

FBoy Island Recap Episode 2: We were cursed with a chocolate bath and a whole lot of tears

It’s episode two of Binge Original Series FBoy Island Australia, and after episode numero uno ended on a cliffhanger, it was time to see whether Grand High FBoy (GHFB) Caleb or sweet, sweet Nick were about to be kicked to the curb.

The first ep ended with male entertainer Sean ready to speak up about GHFB’s bulls**t response to Molly being cheated on and now we get to see the fall-out.

After Sean says his peace, Molly is more confused than ever; however, in a shock elimination twist, she ends up sending our sweet, sweet Nick home.

After both “who tf is Angin” and Nick reveal they are “nice guys”, mullet Eric announces he is indeed an “FBoy”. Upon leaving the villa, Angin and Nick ride off in a limo…while Eric, is treated to a plebby buggy ride on a push-bike.

Eric. Binge

Mullet Eric ends up in “Limbro”, a makeshift cage on the beach where host Abbie Chatfield greets him.

“Hello Eric, I’ve been waiting for you,” she says, to which he responds: “OK”.

Limbro is “purgatory for FBoys” and gives the eliminated children a chance to improve themselves by camping out in the middle of nowhere.

Cory and Darcy’s rivalry continues and there’s a group date of Capture the Flag

Meanwhile, back at the flaccid d**k villa, the battle for Ziara’s heart rages on between pro-Bballer Cory and #dadshoes Darcy, who you might remember from episode one as the idiots who had to be separated by producers.

However, Ziara’s romantic interests extend beyond the two, as she also sets her sights on “hot name” Izaya.

Then, during the first group date, all the boys must prove themselves in a game of Capture the Flag – or as the locals call it, “Hurting for a Squirting”.

The challenge? Da boiz must protect the ladies at all costs.

Ziara, Molly and Sophie pick their teams with GHFB Caleb being chosen last, which is f**king funny and ironic, really….

The game is a wild and chaotic affair, culminating in laughter and a rainbow of paint covering everyone…except for Ziara’s face, which means that her team was victorious!

The Mixer

Once everyone was sparkling clean — just like their teeth after this show ends — peroxide Justin steals some alone time with Sophie at the mixer, with sparks flying from the very beginning.

Sophie and Justin mack on — something she hasn’t done in a loooong time; however, some painter called Nico becomes suspicious of Justin’s intentions, especially since he told them he “doesn’t like none of them, girls”.

Meanwhile, things got romantic between Ziara and “hot name” Izaya during their one-on-one, and Molly finds herself drawn to Sean’s chivalrous actions. But when flame emoji-throwing Benny overhears some parts of their conversation, things take a turn for the worse when he calls him out for being a dog to the bros and chaos ensues.

Sophie then tells Benny off for his red flag behaviour, admitting that she liked him because he was funny, but now she’s not so sure.

By the end of the mixer, the ladies have chosen three men to go on a date with. Sophie chooses peroxide Justin, Ziara chooses… Cory (huh?!) and Molly picks Sean.

The single dates are based on ICONIC reality TV dates

The next day, it’s date time and Abbie reveals that the pairings will be going on dates inspired by some of the most iconic reality TV dates to ever date.

Molly and Sean are given the task of engaging in the world’s longest TV kiss, while Sophie and Justin get dirty with pottery and then… in the most unfortunate of news, Ziara and Cory hop into a chocolate bath — which should have been left on The Bachelor in 2018.

Binge.

The Elimination

As the time for elimination came, all of da boiz were clearly quite nervous but the women… were not.

TBH, we’re still pretty unclear why the ladies sit there looking like they are about to send someone to the gallows, but we digress.

Binge

Finally, it was time to decide “who was still in play and who would be left playing with themselves”. (LOL, Abbie!)

Sophie was up first with her bottom two. She picked who TF is Ryan (because “this is the first time I’ve heard you speak”) and flame emoji throwing Benny because he was “argumentative”.

Ziara chose cheerleader Eden, who, even though he looks about 18, has been out of the dating scene “for a long time” becoming hella emotional. She also chose #dadshoes Darcy.

“I’m attracted to FBoys and I’m attracted to you,” she says to D-Man. “So, if you put two and two together…”

Finally, Molly chose Taco Tuesday Mikey and Joey, peroxide Justin’s IRL bro, whom she promptly gets rid of.

Binge

While it’s been precisely 24 hours, peroxide Justin loses his mind and takes a minute away from the group to…cry.

“Youse are all duds,” he says and WHAT. IS. HAPPENING?

Sophie kicks cheerleader Eden to the curb and Ziara says goodbye to who TF is Ryan.

Unfortunately, Eden and Ryan were both “nice guys” but Joey? An a-grade “FBoy!”

Well, well, well….

FBoy Island Australia 2023 is streaming now on Binge.

Chris Dawson’s past crimes are in the spotlight again in new podcast The Teacher’s Accuser

The Australian has released a brand-new new podcast The Teacher’s Accuser, which delves into convicted murderer Chris Dawson’s alleged 1980 affair with a 16-year-old.

It’s the third instalment for the publication, which details Dawson’s associated crimes and follows in the footsteps of their prior releases The Teacher’s Pet and The Teacher’s Trial, both of which covered his high-profile murder case.

The drop coincides with Dawson’s court proceedings surrounding the unlawful sex case, which began in the NSW District Court on May 29.

The Teacher’s Accuser, supported by Harvey Norman, will feature news and analysis from the trial of convicted murderer Chris Dawson who stands accused of having unlawful sex with a 16-year-old in 1980 when he was working as a physical education teacher on Sydney’s northern beaches,” a press release about the podcast said.

The Teacher’s Accuser. The Australian.

Who is Chris Dawson and what crimes has he committed?

Dawson is a former high-school teacher who was found guilty in 2022 of murdering his wife Lynette Dawson in 1982.

New South Wales Supreme Court Justice Ian Harrison found that Dawson murdered his wife so that he could start a new life with a then 16-year-old student, who babysat for the family.

At age 74, Dawson was sentenced to at least 18 years in jail over the murder and it has been indicated that he will appeal the conviction.

Now, he is facing additional charges of unlawful sex with a 16-year-old. The case is currently before the court.

In terms of his former spouse, Lynette’s body has never been found and her disappearance was one of Australia’s longest-running cold cases.

Interest surrounding the crime was sparked back up after The Australian released their first podcast of the current series Teacher’s Pet in 2018.

Lynette and Chris Dawson. The Australian.

Who is behind the podcast?

The Teacher’s Accuser is led by the man behind the other podcasts in the series, Hedley Thomas. He is assisted by The Australian’s team of award-winning journalists including David Murray, Claire Harvey, and Matthew Condon who will cover the court proceedings, and unpack every step of the legal drama as a weekly podcast.

Where can I listen to it?

The first episode of The Teacher’s Accuser dropped today and is available on all leading podcast platforms, with subscriber-only extended analysis at theteachersaccuser.com.

New episodes will drop weekly.

FBoy Island Recap Episode 1: Walking red flag Caleb needs to be voted off the island immediately

Well folks, here we are. It’s episode one of Binge Original Series FBoy Island Australia which means it’s time to sit back and relax and get ready to judge 24 men from the comfort of your own home.

By far the most relatable part of this show will be watching the women try their darndest to separate the weeds from the flowers, which, in IRL is f**king hard.

But, in this series, everyone is an FBoy until proven innocent and our leading ladies — Molly O’HalloranSophie Blackley and Ziara Rae — will have to decipher who is in it for the cold hard cash and who is, for all intents and purposes on this show, a “nice guy”.

Ziara, Sophie, Abbie and Molly. Binge.

So, with that let’s dive straight in!

Introducing FBoy Island

We begin with a definition of the term FBoy.

  1. A player
  2. Hopelessly charming and endlessly selfish
  3. Must be stopped

Lol. No truer words have ever been spoken!

While host Abbie Chatfield’s voiceover plays, men frolic in the water, giving us a taste of the absolute debauchery we’re about to witness; before we are introduced to the girls.

Molly has been royally screwed over in the past and is here to “call out shi**y behaviour”, while Sophie hasn’t had sex in two whole years. Ziara on the other hand, only ever attracts f**kboys, so obviously, this is going to turn out great!

As the 24 men descend on the island straight from their day jobs of GTL (Gym, Tan, Laundry) while drenched in Lynx Africa; one guy has already earned himself the title of the biggest f**kboy to ever f**ckboy…. we shall call him Grand High FBoy (GHFB)!

Another guy is tattooed up, complete with one on his face, and claims that he’s “very successful” with the ladies, while another just loves love, y’all!

The guys arrive at the “sick” villa

The guys arrive at the villa “ready to kill it”, we’re one exclaims, “This is sick” before we’re introduced to cheerleader Eden, who says he’s here to “win love”. Cool.

Dreamy brown-eyed bae, carpenter Joshy, is ready to “meet a nice girl” but the others? They’re just in it for the bros.

US pro basketballer Cory sees no competition around him (“They’re just young, dumb and full of c*m”) and content creator Lakshya has zero qualms about calling out the smell of fake tan and testosterone…

And then there’s personal trainer Caleb from the US. The aforementioned Grand High FBoy who has already claimed the title of “get him off this show immediately”. He just wants the money and ain’t afraid to play for it.

“I would choose the bag dawg and run.” CHARMING.

Abbie Chatfield introduces Molly, Sophie and Ziara

The irony is not lost on us when Abbie arrives wearing a peacock top before DJ Sophie a.k.a “I’ve not had sex in two years” is introduced to da boiz.

“Holy f**k, she is smoking!”, between jobs Mitch says before UK Benny — also a DJ — throws “fire emojis” everywhere.

Sophie admits that all the men “catch her eye” (which is concerning for a number of reasons); however, singles out Justin who is obviously such a Fboy that he basically screams it.

Up next is Ziara, who struts the platform like she’s modelling for Gucci and the guys lose their collective sh**.

Binge.

Emergency officer Darcy thinks Rihanna has been cast, but, since Binge doesn’t have that type of budget, he’ll just have to settle for Ziara, while Cory has fallen in love, booked the wedding venue and has named all three of their kids.

Ziara admits that “red flag central” is her type and likes the look of “hot name” Izayah before Molly arrives, adamant she’s not going to be f**cked over once more. LOL.

Then we meet sweet, sweet, construction manager Nick who is just so damn cute, we want to squeeze him. He’s already got “butterflies” which means, he’s definitely not winning this show. And like any perfect intro to a Stage 5 clinger, he is backed by rousing violins while he just…stares. For a long time.

Nick. Binge.

Molly, who seems to be the only one with 20/20 vision, says the guys “could be alright”, and if she finds love from this, we’ll be very surprised.

The Meat Gala

Abbie reveals the $50k grand prize before announcing “The Meat Gala”, where the three girls have two wristbands each to give to the guys they deem suitable to be in a situationship with whom they’re “vibing” with.

Molly chooses Grand High FBoy Caleb as well as sweet, sweet Nick, Ziara chooses “hot name” Izayah and pro-Bballer Cory while Sophie chooses brown-eyed Joshy and… Caleb. Ugh. Grrrrrl.

“If you’re an FBoy, then you’ve got to have some game. Coming out chest out, I know what I’m doing,” he says. “I’ll play the game and slither through…”

Caleb and Sophie. Binge

After the “wristys” were given out and the guys found out they were living in a “flaccid di**”, Abbie reveals that the first elimination would be taking place the next day.

Nighttime at The Meat Gala

The women, it turned out, were being treated like royalty and were in fact not living in a flaccid penis. Instead, they were treated to a luxury villa with a pool. Meanwhile, the guys were surrounded by “d**ks”… and also a ton of pee pee paraphernalia.

After Nick admitted he just “loves love”, the girls focused their attention on Grand High FBoy Caleb and whether or not they thought he was one.

The girls, alongside Abbie, decide on a game plan which was to “trick” the FBoys, which will probably prove supremely difficult since these men are masters of manipulation…

Back at da Boiz’ villa, accountant Mikey is displeased by the ratio of “sausages” to “taco”, while the others drank probably water, cheering their glasses.

When the ladies arrive, fire emoji throwing Benny is thrilled to see them, as are the others who pounce on the women like they’re on heat. Vlogger Clay called it “pulling out all the strings” and babe, that’s not how the saying goes.

Sophie chatted to Mitch, whose second red flag was moving from a small country town to the Gold Coast before he casually admitted his favourite pastime was partying. Fab.

Ziara then spent some QT with Cory, who said he was “100 like an emoji” and looking for love (Lol) before she chatted with Darcy. Cory, who had just finished his time with her, was hella jelly and uh oh. RED FLAG.

Caleb spins a hectic yarn and Molly reveals what really happened with her fiancé

Darcy pulled out the Rihanna card again before Grand High FBoy took his opportunity to chat with Molly. When she asked him about getting two wristys, we cut to him dancing like a d**ckhead, parading them around.

He then tells Molly he has six sisters and this taught him how to respect women…

“I want to cherish and be good to women… that’s what they want to hear,” he later tells the cameras. NOPE.

Molly then drops the bombshell that her fiancé cheated on her with an escort, four hours after she had slept with him. Not only that, she found them together in his office and the escort was bent over his desk.

Molly. Binge

Caleb talks to Ziara while the girls choose their first dates

Grand High FBoy then sets his sights on Sophie and he pretends to GAF which really “confuses” her.

Sweet sweet Nick tells Molly she is “beautiful”, before some mullet called Eric introduces himself to Sophie as George.

Picking an opportune moment, GHFB pounces on Ziara…and she loves it.

“I’m thinking he would be a nice guy on the streets and FBoy in the sheets,” she says before he admits to the cameras that he only likes her “for the show”. When the girls reconvene on a garden bench, they talk about him.

“You’d have to be a really f**ked up f**k boy to talk about your sisters and mum,” Sophie says. HAHAHA. Oh, Sophie. Unfortunately, Ziara is into it and Molly says she can have him.

When it comes to picking their dates, Sophie chooses brown-eyed guy Joshy because he was the “class clown” while Molly chooses Nick, because he leaves her “breathless”, and he is literally deceased from the romance.

“I get to be myself and I don’t have to bat off other guys,” he says. LOL!

Ziara chooses Darcy and Cory literally wants to throw punches at the “Johnny Bravo knock-off”.

The First Dates and GHFB Caleb is called out

The next day, da boiz struggle with remembering Ziara’s name, although, she shouldn’t take it too personally because they call Darcy #dadshoes…

Meanwhile, sweet, sweet Nick and Molly are on some camels wearing truly the most heinous helmets. They dismount the animals and arrive at a picnic blanket.

Molly thinks Nick is really “sweet” and they share a kiss…until he delivers the ultimate FBoy line: “Bros before hoes”. FML.

Back at da boiz villa, they’re lapping up their free holiday.

Binge.

Cory then drops the bombshell that GHFB Caleb has essentially blamed Molly for being cheated on. According to Cory, he said the “reason that stuff happens to her is that she ain’t got no good pu**y”.

The boys are furious and summon Caleb for a showdown. GHFB tries to justify his actions but to no avail; and male entertainer Sean won’t let him off the hook, insisting that Molly be informed.

Sophie and brown-eyed Joshy chat about their shared family values and things heat up when Sophie discloses she’s been celibate for two long years.

Joshy’s patiently hoping to end the dry spell and Sophie’s feeling like he just might fit the bill. All in, Sophie thinks he could be a real catch.

Ziara’s outing with Darcy kicks off with a strong physical attraction. While she fancies Darcy, she’s a magnet for FBoys and has her guard up.

Meanwhile, Cory is envious that someone like #dadshoes Darcy got picked for the date over him. As we return to the rendezvous, Darcy wins over Ziara, convincing her he’s no FBoy, culminating in a smooch.

Once Darcy is back in the retreat, Cory’s jealousy boils over upon hearing of the kiss, prompting him to throw Darcy out of their shared room. Tensions rise and the producers are forced to step in!

The Elimination

At sundown, the game of elimination begins with Molly, Sophie, and Ziara entering looking stern.

Sophie puts forward between jobs Mitch and some dude called Angin who we never saw, not even once.

Ziara brings mullet Eric and Clay forward, before Molly shocks everyone by nominating Caleb and – wait for it – Nick!

Da nominated boiz then start pleading their case to stay, but it’s Angin and Eric who finally get kicked to to the curb; however, just before Molly could announce another verdict, male entertainer Sean intervenes.

He’s sceptical about Nick escaping the chopping block while Caleb’s wrongdoing could go unnoticed. He puts his hand up and tells Abbie that he needs to tell Molly something…

MasterChef recap episode 16: A nostalgic challenge sends three cooks to the Pressure Test

It’s MasterChef Australia 2023 episode 16 and this week the contestants are transported back in time with Nostalgia Week.

Each cook is presented with a Mystery Box which contains five different – noticeably unbranded – cereals, one of which they must include in their dish of choice.

We’ve got choc pops instead of Coco Pops, weetbrix instead of Weetbix, rice puffs instead of Rice Bubbles and some vaguely branded cornflakes and fruit loops.

Before diving into the cook, the contestants reminisce on the memories the cereals bring back for them.

“Every now and again this was our treat, and honestly, I would eat the whole box,” Rhiannon said about the choc pops/Coco Pops.

The revelation leaves Judge Andy Allen fairly shocked.

“No wonder you weren’t allowed it,” he laughed.

Like the other Mystery Box tasks, the contestants were informed that the cooks of the bottom three dishes will find themselves in the elimination Pressure Test on May 30.

The Cook

As the contestants rack their brains about what to make with their unbranded cereals, a heartwrenching moment is shown as the late Jock Zonfrillo tenderly shares an anecdote about his now five-year-old son.

“If I was in this challenge today, I think [I’d choose] Weetbix [because they are] big with my son Alfie. He’s not five yet and he’s already on four Weetbix [a day]. As a little tribute to my son, I would make an Onion Tatin, but I would use the Weetbix to make flour to make a rough puff,” he told fellow judges Melissa Leong and Andy.

Ten.

Back on the cooking side of things, Antonio picked coco puffs as his cereal of choice, for his Coco Pop Eclair.

“That’s my childhood in a bowl,” he said.

As has been made abundantly clear in previous weeks, Cath was stoked about the nostalgic challenge, as she likes to focus on past experiences when it comes to her cooking. She chose to do a Cornflake-infused ice cream dessert with a salted caramel element.

The cook continues

Everyone’s favourite jokester Declan pointed out that at age 24 he’s still a “spring chicken” and that he doesn’t have to think too far back for a nostalgic dish. He picks Weetbix – a product he says he still eats for dinner today.

When Declan revealed that he planned to make three different types of muffins; a banoffee cornflake muffin, a chocolate coco pops muffin with berry compote and a weetbrix raising muffin, the judges are questioning if they might be a bit dry because of the cereal element. When they share their concern with Declan, he looks equally as baffled.

Declan. Ten

It appears as though ice cream is the dish of choice for Nostalgia Week. Cath, Rhiannon, Brent and Theo all decided to make some variation of the frozen dessert.

On the savoury side of things, we had Melissa with Spicy Fried Chicken Crumbed in Rice Puffs, and Ralph with a Cornflake Pork Chop with Mashed Potato and Mint Sauce.

While the cook looked to be going quite smoothly for most contestants, Robbie couldn’t find a potato masher which he called “that thing you push potatoes with”.

Thankfully, Declan headed to the utensil room to help him find it.

Grace seemed quite confident about her choice to create a cereal with a bunch of tiny pop tarts with froot loops in them, which she called a “bowl of fun”. However, the judges were very confused about her dish and their faces truly say what words can’t.

Jock and Andy. Ten

The first – and only – major cooking disaster hit when Adi realised that she forgot to steep her cake in milk “which was the whole point of this bloody cake” so she had to scrape the creme off and pour the milk on with a spoon.

“I just hope the flavour of the Froot Loop milk is strong enough,” she said.

The Judging

First up was Antonio with his Coco Pops Eclair. TBH, it was one of the most attractive-looking dishes and the judges d-eclaired (pun intended) that it tasted as good as it looked, with Jock giving it a round of applause.

“That’s flawless mate. It’s really good,” he told him.

Ten

Next up was Cath with her Corn Flake Icecream with Salted Caramel and Strawberry Pickle. She received good feedback from the judges, and Jock said that he can see her progression.

Malissa headed to the judging bench with her Rice Bubble Fried Chicken. The response from the judges was lukewarm, and Andy told her that the chicken was “really oily”.

Alice’s (giant) Tropical Fruit Loop Parfait with Passionfruit Caramel looked and sounded amazing, but did the taste stack up? According to the judges, it, unfortunately, didn’t.

“Your parfait is split, it might have been too much-powdered fruit loop in there,” Andy said.

Ten

Grace headed up to the bench with her bowl of Pop-Tart Cereal and, erm, an entire plastic jug of milk which is… questionable. Rather than popping it in a pouring jug, Grace glugged the dairy into the homemade cereal herself at the judge’s table.

“I think this is what happens when you have too much sugar… it just tastes like shortbread that’s been soaked in milk,” Jock told Grace with a grimace. Andy agreed, “Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.”

Garce. Ten

Theo’s “Mum-I-Dropped-My-Ice-Cream-Sandwich” description of his dish was on point, as he presented a plateful of ice cream with thin cookie cakes on top. The cake and ice cream concoction won glowing reviews from the judges.

Despite Adi’s milk-steeping cake troubles, the judges loved her Froot Loop Cake and Jock called it “genius”.

Declan – who had dubbed himself “the muffin man” – had a fall from grace when the judges said that his dish had the exact problem they were worried about; his muffins were dry.

“Not excited about your muffin mix,” Jock told him.

Last up was Ralph, who had made a Cornflake Pork chop with Mashed Potato and Mint sauce. He was worried that the pork wasn’t cooked fully through. Turns out, he needn’t be. “The pork is cooked beautifully mate,” Jock told him.

The Verdict

Antonio and Ralph were congratulated for having the two best dishes in the episode and, Grace, Declan and Alice were declared the bottom three.

MasterChef Australia continues on Tuesday, May 30 at 7.30 pm.

The Summit’s Indy Thompson believes that “gender” contributed to her elimination

Cue The Summit’s dramatic music because Indy Thompson’s time on the mountain has come to an end.

During the May 29 episode, Lulu Hawton pulled the trigger on Thompson’s time, but the marine scientist insists that it was her “gender” that made her a bigger threat.

According to the Trekker, Hawton and Brooke Kilowsky’s BFF status ultimately sealed Thompson’s fate. But hey, at least Thompson gave credit where credit is due – Kilowsky was “quite the power player”!

“The two of them were so incredibly close,” Thompson admitted during an interview with Chattr before her elimination.

Indy The Summit
Indy Thompson. Nine

“Whatever Brooke said, Lulu went with and she flew under the radar sitting under Brooke’s wing. There’s no one to blame. That’s playing the game essentially numbers-wise. If you want to look at gender, they’ve got more of a chance getting rid of another female to get the two of them to the top.”

Regarding her departure from the show, Thompson said she “wasn’t filled with sadness”.

“I believe in an old saying that it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. So for me, although it’s devastating, being as close as I was, I was so grateful for the experience that I had. It wasn’t filled with sadness. I was just filled with happiness at the fact that I got to get as far as I did.”

Indy Thompson reveals she was “petrified” of heights

As Sam Molineaux and Josh Waldhorn tackle mountains for fun, Thompson, hailing from a small town in Tasmania, found it to be a truly terrifying experience.

“I’m not used to hiking and like I always thought that was for a chairlift and choppers to get to where you wanted to go and I still don’t understand why people do it for fun. I never will,” she continued: “I’m petrified of heights, but you couldn’t let on about it. You had to put your head down, bum up, get the job done situation rather than taking in the views and the scenery because you’re so worried about keeping yourself on the mountain.”

Nine

Her day job sees Thompson teaching others fish conservation for the future, something that wasn’t shown on our screens.

“It’s the most important thing in my life,” she said. “It was actually having the show feature my everyday line of work or what inspires me basically my every day. So that was a big one [to not be shown] was the sustainability and conservation aspect of what I do.”

Even though Thompson’s backstory didn’t make the editing cut, she was thrilled that the climbers relied on grit and determination instead of their life story to reach the top.

“Now I hope Australia gets to see a little bit of the other side of the story, which I’m sure they will. Not only those who get to the top but also the people who have been shafted along the way.”

The Summit continues on Tuesday, May 30 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

The Summit Recap Episode 8: Stolen money and a shock decision sends one Trekker home

It’s episode 8 of The Summit and day 12 of the climb as the hikers prepped for treacherous snow-covered terrain.

Lulu, the boxing champ, is feeling right at home and ready to reign supreme while outsider Jans tries to make a strategic move by offering to lug the stolen cash duffle bag. But the group finds themselves ensnared in a terrifying whiteout, forcing them to retreat back to camp and putting their summit deadline in jeopardy.

Nine.

Day 13 Elimination

Day 13 of the mountain adventure was going downhill fast. Weather clears, snow climb ensues, but it ain’t all sunshine and roses!

The Mountain’s Keeper comes to the rescue, offering a lift on a 20-metre line to get the gang over the glacier; however, there was a catch. Lulu takes a leap of faith, only to find out she has to sacrifice one person along with their cash.

Nine.

Panic ensued as the group was called across the glacier one at a time and Lulu now had to choose between her friend Indy and the money-stealing Jans.

Lulu attempted to send Jans packing but realised she couldn’t let go of the stolen $300,000 in his duffle bag. When the moment of truth came, Lulu called Jans back from across the glacier, leaving Indy stranded on the mountain.

Indy. Nine

Family video calls

With one less hiker and a shared bag of cash, the group takes a breather.

Jans is elated his brilliant plan to carry the money has helped him survive against all odds and Alex is in disbelief, vowing to target Jans in the future.

As they continue up the mountain, the group gets a surprise visit from the Mountain’s Keeper who gives them a chance to make a call to their loved ones before they face their final ascent. After 13 days of a gruelling journey, the raw emotions pour out as they connect with their near and dear ones back home.

But the journey is far from over. As they advance forward, the terrain gets precarious. To proceed further, they must pass through a glacier filled with treacherous crevasses, and the most hair-raising obstacle of all – a spine-chilling ladder crossing. Alex, who crossed last, struggles to keep his calm hearing the sound of ice cracking.

Nine.

The Trekkers reach the final checkpoint

Thirteen days of trekking have led the group to their final checkpoint.

The mood is grim – one of them is going to be sent packing. Lulu, who had initially wished to be rid of Jans, now thinks it might be his time to go. Brooke, however, is torn between her complicated friendship with Jans and the decision at hand.

Jans, well aware of his precarious position, is counting on his alliance with Brooke to stay afloat.

When Jai pays them a visit, he reminds them of the high stakes at play. Four of them will survive this mountain, but who will be the one to trudge back down with nothing to show for their efforts?

The Summit continues on May 30 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

People are betting on who will become CEO of Waystar Royco on Succession

**WARNING: This article contains spoilers for season four of Succession!**

As far as television events go, the Succession finale is the creme de la creme. The poignant episode will mark the end of the Roy family’s story, and we’ll finally find out who will fill Logan Roy’s shoes in the highly coveted position of CEO of Waystar Royco.

Ever since Logan (Brian Cox) not-so-tragically died in episode three of season four, many of the main characters have been jockeying for the position of power.

While it may seem a bit of a no-brainer that Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) will step up and claim his rightful place as Chairman and CEO, betting odds actually suggest that a much more questionable character will nab the role.

Characters from Succession
Succession. HBO.

Who is tipped to be Logan Roy’s successor?

Australian betting site Sportsbet bizarrely has cousin Greg (played by Nicholas Braun) listed as the most likely to “win” and become CEO with shocking odds. Greg has a return of $2.50, which means that for every $1 bet on him, $2.50 will be returned. The stats are pretty wild, considering Greg’s loose relation to Logan, and his perpetual – yet slightly endearing – f*ck ups that he consistently manages to make, but could have something to do with an Esquire article that was pushing for him to be Logan’s successor.

Who else has high odds of replacing Logan as CEO of Waystar Royco?

In second place, and sitting at a return of $3.25 is Siobhan Roy (Sarah Snook), and in third is Tom Wambsgan (Matthew Macfadyen) at $4.00. Logan’s son Kendall sits way down at number four, with betting odds of $4.

Sportsbet.

Can I still bet on Cousin Greg?

Unfortunately, if you’re looking to make a quick buck off the possibility of Cousin Greg becoming Logan’s successor, you’re too late to bet in Australia.

Sportsbet has officially closed off all Succession bids, as the show’s finale is airing today.

Stream the Succession season four finale on Foxtel Now and BINGE from May 29.

FBoy Island: Abbie Chatfield reveals she only attracts FBoys and she couldn’t be more relatable

Binge Original Series FBoy Island has landed and host Abbie Chatfield says has revealed she knows a thing or two about F**kboys after attracting them in her personal life.

Premiering on May 29, the 10-episode reality series follows three Australian women, Molly O’HalloranSophie Blackley and Ziara Rae as they navigate the dating pool together to uncover who are the self-proclaimed “nice guys” looking for love, and who are the self-proclaimed “FBoys” only there to play the game and take home the cash prize.

“I think all I attract are Fboys, which is super hot and iconic from me,” Chatfield told Chattr during an interview before the series premiere.

While the definition on the show is explicitly about guys playing the three leading ladies for money, IRL Chatfield gives another explanation.

Ziara Rae, Sophie Blackley, Abbie Chatfield and Molly O’Halloran. Binge

“I think that the definition would be somebody who is going to mess you around and lie to you and string you along.”

And for the TV and radio personality, being strung along is “the most painful part”.

“I can be rejected, I’m fine to be rejected,” she admitted. “But when someone is pretending they like you and doing all these things that you think should mean that they want to be with you, that you’re the only one that they’re really interested in and then you get the rug pulled from underneath you, then it’s an Fboy move to have unclear intentions.”

Abbie Chatfield reveals that FBoy Island “flips the script” on women in dating

The series was seen as a lil’ controversial; however, Chatfield believes it actually “flips the script” for women in dating.

“We’re usually told to be so small and gaslight or gaslight ourselves into thinking that the problems that we have with men in relationships, that you’re ‘crazy’ to bring it up. That you’re being too much or you’re taking things too personally,” Chatfield said.

“But in this show, everything is super analysed and I think it’s quite invigorating. It’s quite validating for these women and to me and hopefully for those watching at home as well. To see that it isn’t you, [that] you aren’t crazy for pointing out things that you think aren’t how you should be treated and I think it’s been such a great experience.”

Binge.

Some contestants kinda hit on Abbie during filming

While overall the gig was great, The Masked Singer Australia judge said that she did experience a little bit of cheeky on-set behaviour from some of the men.

“There were a few wolf whistle moments that were a bit much,” she said. “I just went, ‘shut up’. These men are in this environment where they get called out for things. It was quite amazing really, even on set. They’re completely under scrutiny all the time, so it’s really easy for them to be put back into their place.

“It’s really easy for them to be put back into their place because they are so used to being on a pedestal and being so high up on the pyramid that is the patriarchy, the structure is that when they’re in this environment, if I say shut up, they do. It’s absolutely wild. I hope the boys learned a thing or two to be honest.”

The men of FBoy Island. Binge

While Chatfield has the “courage that some people don’t” in these kinds of situations, she praised the three women for banding together to call the crappy behaviour out.

“They were very honest,” she said. “It was really great casting with these three women. They’ve done such a good job by themselves, so I wasn’t needed that much until the end.”

Stream FBoy Island from May 29 only on Binge.

The Summit Recap Episode 7: The eliminated contestants were given the ultimate task

It’s episode seven of The Summit Australia and day 11 for the Trekkers, but there’s a twist coming directly from the eliminated contestants!

After all the craziness of Sam’s ousting and prize money thievery, Brooke has now teamed up with Jans, Sam’s trusted ally. Is this a genuine connection or just a sneaky move?

Brooke’s downplaying of Jans’ links to Sam only adds to Indy, Josh, and Alex’s worries that Brooke’s getting in the way of the plan to vote out Jans.

As the seven hikers make their way up the mountain, a looming deadline of three days and a 165km distance covered so far can make anyone nervous. And yet, there’s always that one obstacle.

A checkpoint, 30kms away, stands between them and their destination, which they are almost a day behind schedule to reach.

Determined to pick up the pace, they commence an uphill climb, and Jans, looking to survive by being a group’s guy, decides to win over Isaac.

Jans. Nine

The Waterfall

As they reach a mammoth waterfall to cross, Jans recalls Isaac’s previous struggle with the heights, but now it’s his chance to befriend Isaac and confirm a rumour about a potential danger to the group.

Josh steps up to take the lead during the daring waterfall crossing knowing all eyes are on him. Bags on backs? No way, too risky! Josh decides to throw the bags himself as Alex helps toss them from the other side.

Unfortunately, their plan backfires and Jans is thrilled by Josh’s fumble. Meanwhile, poor Isaac is fuming and plotting to vote Josh off. But wait, Isaac saves the day with a brilliant throwing technique suggestion that gets the job done. Crisis averted!

As the group trudges on, wet, cold, and exhausted, Josh starts to feel the heat. The second leg of the obstacle looms ahead – a 200m climb up a rocky waterfall.

Josh, with his mountaineering experience, takes the lead to show off his skills but fate has other plans. He flounders and gets stuck mid-climb!

Josh. Nine

After a gruelling two hours, Josh finally reaches the top, hoping against hope that the others will be equally challenged. However, Jans takes the lead, showing off his mountain credentials, and inspires the rest of the team to conquer the climb.

While Josh watches them scale the heights with growing anxiety, he’s convinced that Isaac, after his last debacle at the waterfall, is going to have a “complete and utter freak out”

The race against the chopper

Isaac’s fear wasn’t enough to stop him from competing against Josh once again.

As they crossed the snowy terrain, the Mountain’s Keeper dropped a bag, launching the group into a race for a guaranteed seat on a nearby chopper.

Unfortunately, only six spots were available, which meant one person would be left behind. Josh quickly nominated Jans for elimination, but Isaac had other plans. He spilled the beans to Alex about Josh’s desire to see him gone on the waterfall abseil.

Nervous about his spot in the competition, Josh added Isaac to the elimination list. However, during the vote, Isaac put Josh’s name forward, and the group followed suit, saying their goodbyes as Josh left the campsite.

Celebrating their victory with champagne, the remaining hikers soon learned that the eliminated group held control over the prize money distribution and forces were at play at the base of the mountain…

The Summit continues on May 30 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

Masterchef Recap Episode 15: An overnight cook sees one contestant leave for good

It’s MasterChef Australia 2023 episode 15 and it’s that time of the week where one contestant must leave the competition.

All of the remaining competitors, except for Declan, were up to cook; however, unlike previous eliminations, this one wasn’t an intense race against the clock, it was actually a two-day event!

The cooks were allotted 45 minutes to prepare their dishes before returning the following day with 60 minutes to finish.

Elimination cook

Brent decided to utilise the extra time by using the sous vide technique on some duck legs for his Bebek Goreng dish, while Malissa too chose an Indonesian flavour with her Beef Redang.

Meanwhile, Robbie used a slow cooker for the first time in his life and whipped up Asian Style Poached Duck while Theo prepared a Slow-Cooked Lamb Shoulder with Slow-Proofing Bread in the hope to make his dad proud.

While the overnight portion was beneficial for some of the contestants, others faced huge problems as time went on.

Rhiannon was upset when she discovered that her Beef Rendang had dried out and was overcooked, while Malissa’s ragu was unbalanced and Robbie’s broth lost all of its flavour.

Amy also found herself in a disappointing situation when she discovered that her pork was overcooked and she had limited time to perfect her blue tortillas.

But, it wasn’t all grim. Brent’s duck legs looked great and Theo’s lamb cooked just as he’d hoped.

Elimination judging

Amongst some of the best dishes were Theo’s Lamb and Flatbreads which the judges loved, and Brent’s duck was called the best dish he’s cooked in the competition so far. Both men made the cut.

Masterchef. Channel 10.

The elimination came down to the worst three dishes – which were Malissa’s unbalanced Ragu paired with Pasta that wasn’t cooked al dente, Rhiannon’s Beef Rendang which was considered dry with an acidic sauce and Amy’s Mexican Japanese fusion also had dried out.

MasterChef. Channel 10.

Who was sent home?

The judges declared that Amy’s Mexican dish had dry meat, sauce that didn’t belong, and tortillas that were too thick, so she was sent home.

MasterChef Australia continues at 7:30pm on 10 and 10Play.

The Summit’s Josh Waldhorn has a very famous dad and how did we not know this?!

Josh Waldhorn’s The Summit expedition may have ended, but it inspired him to follow in his late father’s famous footsteps.

The 53-year-old native of London, UK is the son of Gary Waldhorn, an actor known for his roles in The Vicar of Dibley, Brideshead Revisited, The Professionals, The Bill and Heartbeat.

“He was a Shakespearean actor, really, but he was known for sitcoms,” Josh said during a chat with Chattr prior to his elimination.

“I grew up in the schools of theatre with all sorts of famous people. I was even in a play with him, Waiting for Godot which was a very famous production.”

Amidst the company of his father’s co-stars Dawn French, James Fleet, and Four Weddings and a Funeral star Richard Curtis, Josh and his family attended a memorial, flying back to the UK to pay tribute to Gary who passed away at 78 in January 2022.

There were also video messages from celebrities like Dame Judi Dench and others, which added an extra touch of love and warmth to the event.

Succession star Brian Cox’s advice for Josh Waldhorn

At the age of 10, Josh foreshadowed his passion for acting while starring alongside his dad in Godot in 1980.

Now, with aspirations of reviving his thespian talent, he reached out to Succession’s Brian Cox for guidance.

The tale began with a charming anecdote of growing up with Brian’s son, Alan Cox, who then ventured off to become Watson in Young Sherlock Holmes.

More recently, while Brian was down under for a literary festival in Melbourne, Josh left a note with the box office for him, which resulted in a 90-minute conversation between the two and Brian said to him, “You know, why don’t you [get into acting]?'”.

Josh confessed that since performing has “been in his blood”— having even had roles in a few TV series and a couple of short features — that The Summit would help him get back in front of the screen.

“I’ve been quietly hoping that this show [The Summit] might give me a reason to just get on with it,” he said.

Josh Waldhorn applied for The Summit after his father died

Gary’s passing left Josh in a “dark place”, so he embarked on The Summit for an “adventure”.

“One of the things I really would like to be seen as from this show is that I’m an inspiration to all the millions of people out there that are in a dark place in their lives,” he said.

“It’s proof that you can come out of that and that you can find your way out and you can have a renaissance. That you can find yourself again and take on an adventure and get out of your comfort zone.”

The Summit continues Monday, May 29 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

The full Barbie trailer is here and we *finally* know what the movie is about

As if the fact that it’s Friday wasn’t already great, Warner Bros has gone ahead and made our day *chefs kiss* by dropping the full Barbie trailer.

Barbie fans (and pretty much, the entire world) was sent into a tailspin early last month when the Barbie teaser trailer dropped and debuted a positively sparkling world consisting of perfectly arched doll feet and pink sand beaches. But, while the visuals were nothing short of mesmerising, there wasn’t a whole lot of information about what the upcoming blockbuster was actually about.

Fortunately, that’s all changed with the brand-spanking new drop of the full two-and-a-half-minute Barbie trailer today.

Watch the full trailer here and we will discuss below.

So, what will the Barbie movie be about, then?

The trailer starts off with Margot Robbie as Barbie living her best life in Barbie Land; she’s got her man Ken (played by Ryan Gosling) at her side, and a planned choreography dance party scheduled for the night ahead with all her Barbie friends.

However, disaster strikes when she begins to notice some unusual changes like her feet going flat and experiencing gravity for the first time. Shortly after, she’s informed that she will have to leave Barbie World and head into the real world AKA Earth.

She’s given a pair of Birkenstocks and her and Ken head off to the real world. Here, they face a myriad of problems that don’t exist in Barbie Land, and some clever humans cotton on to the fact that she’s a doll that’s come to life. Worried about the fallout from Barbie’s transition to earth, Will Ferrell’s character, who looks to be the supervillain in the movie, sends his team on a mission to get Barbie “back into a box”.

Who’s in the Barbie movie?

By now, it’s very well known that Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are the two main characters in the film, and play Barbie and Ken respectfully. We’ve also touched on the fact that Will Ferrell has a large part.

However, they are far from the only big celebs in the blockbuster, we’ll also be seeing household names like Simu Liu, America FerreraKate McKinnonMichael Cera, Dua Lipa, and Helen Mirren, as well as a bunch of other huge stars.

When will the Barbie movie premiere?

Set your countdown apps people, because Barbie will be released in Australia on July 20, 2023.

Where can I watch the other trailers?

Prior to the full trailer being dropped today, there have been two teaser trailers released. You can watch them below:

Barbie will be released in cinemas nationwide on July 20, 2023.

Four bombshell moments from the wild Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion

The hotly-anticipated #Scandoval Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion part 1 episode finaaaaally aired on Hayu last night, and boy, was it a doozy.

In case you’ve been living off the grid for the past few months, an affair recently went down on the show that was so scandalous that it managed to make its way into headlines across the world – including The New York Times.

Tom Sandoval – who is one of the OG cast members on the show – had an affair with one of his girlfriend of nine years Ariana Maddix’s best friends Racquel Leviss. Ariana found out about the affair when his phone fell out of his pocket and she picked it up and discovered an explicit recording from Racquel to Tom.

The affair caused a huge rift between all of the cast members, with most taking Ariana’s side and condemning both Sandoval and Racquel for their actions.

This all happened at the beginning of March. While some cast members have leaked info about the affair and the cast’s reactions to the press, fans have been patiently waiting for the reunion episode to air to see what really went down.

After months of anticipation, part one of the reunion aired last night, and, it didn’t disappoint. Check out five of the wildest moments from the reunion below:

Ariana’s red revenge dress and her savage comment about Tom Sandoval

Pics dropped of the jaw-dropping red dress that Ariana wore to the reunion back when it was filmed back at the end of March, but we still can’t get over what a power choice it was. What most don’t actually know though, is that the red number is actually a cropped jacket and matching pencil skirt by Mônot, not a dress.

An-y-way, it looked fire but the scorned reality star didn’t just look hot AF, she retained her trademark sass and threw a zinger Sandoval’s way. “Well, he looks like sh*t,” she commented as she walked past him.

Raquel watched the reunion from a trailer nearby

Racquel Leviss. Hayu/Bravo.

For (probably) the first time in Racquel’s Vanderpump career, she was the star of the show. But, despite her huge role in the shenanigans, she watched the reunion from a trailer outside and many fans are wondering why.

Well, upon finding out that Racquel had been f*cking her best friend’s boyfriend of nine years, Scheana Shay allegedly punched Racquel in the face and the reality mistress obtained a restraining order over the incident, meaning that the two reality stars couldn’t be in the same room for the reunion.

James Kennedy had to be physically restrained

James Kennedy. Hayu/Bravo.

James Kennedy has come a long way since he made his debut on VPR as a meek 20-year-old busboy at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant Sur. Over the past few seasons he’s found his feet as a DJ and has become one of the show’s breakout stars.

However, casual fans who have just tuned in for the #scandoval (Tom Sandoval scandal) may not know that he used to be engaged to Racquel, and considered Sandoval one of his closest friends.

So, James was rightly quite mad about the affair and made these feelings very obvious at the reunion. At one point, he had to be physically restrained after getting into a heated argument with Tom Sandavol. And, it wouldn’t be a VPR reunion with an iconic James Kennedy line, which he delivered in spades.

“I am way more ripped than you!” He screamed at Sandoval mid-fight.

He later stormed off set because he wasn’t down with how much Lisa was supporting Sandoval.

Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz’s mixed up timelines

Vanderpump Rules. Hayu/Bravo.

For those who aren’t super familiar with the dynamics and backstories within the Vanderpump Rules group, Sandoval and Tom Schwartz are super-duper close besties, who even own a bar together (with Lisa Vanderpump) called TomTom. Throughout the past ten seasons, they’ve covered for one another time after time when it comes to dogging their girlfriends, and share a very strong bro code which (most probably) states that they will always cover for one another.

When news broke of Sandoval’s affair, Tom Schwartz was dragged down too as fans were convinced that he knew and critcised him for not telling Ariana. After all, she was a groomsman at his wedding and the pair had been pals for nine years.

In the reunion, the host Andy Cohen asked the boys men when the fair started and it seemed they hadn’t run through their timeline prior to filming. Tom Schwartz claimed the affair started in August while Sandoval said it was late January.

Vanderpump Rules Reunion season 10 part 2 drops on June 1 at 9:00pm on Hayu.
