Australia’s Elizabeth Debicki has picked up the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role On Television for her role in Netflix’s The Crown.
During her speech, she thanked the creators “for trusting me with this part”, before adding gratitude to the entire cast and crew.
Elizabeth Debicki, The Crown. Netflix
“[And] To my beautiful pretend children, who I just adore,” she said. “To my mum and my dad and to my children who are hopefully in their pyjamas watching this.”
A funny moment came when she went to thank her partner Christian who told her not to thank him so he wouldn’t be put on TV.
“So, I’m not doing that on television but I’m gonna thank you anyway!”
“Who else? Goodness maybe that’s it,” she continued. “This is just astonishing to me.”
She also thanked her agent Hilda before dedicating her win to her “beloved and dear godmother who left us too quickly and too soon”.
The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards began with a tumble off a cliff as comedian Jo Koy took to the stage for the first time as host, delivering a truly forgettable opening monologue.
Halfway through his speech, which fell flat at every moment, he said: “I got the gig ten days ago and you wanted a perfect monologue?”
While Koy revealed this was a “dream come true” for him, he also said it was for the entire room pointing out that Kevin Costner was here, who was “never in the room”.
When talking about getting the gig â which was given to him at the very last minute â he revealed he’d watched everything that had been nominated.
“I lied. I only watched Beef,” he said, giving a shout-out to the Netflix series.
Koy then poked fun at the length of Oppenheimer before saying that it was up against Barbie for Best Blockbuster; however, managed to piss off director Greta Gerwig by saying it was a film about “boobies”.
Elsewhere, he also asked Barry Keoghan where “his penis was seated”, referring to the final scene in Saltburn where he dances to Murder on the Dancefloor naked and when speaking of The Colour Purple, he threw shade at Ozempic, saying it turned your “a– hole the colour purple”.
Speaking of the hit Binge series Succession, he said it only taught him one thing.
“If you’re a billionaire, pull out. They’re not going to be like you.” Eeek.
Koy then called out Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for getting paid a ton to do “absolutely nothing” by his own streaming platform, Netflix.
One of the better moments was when the camera was on Meryl Streep, who was so freaking cute when Koy put the spotlight on her.
Frankly, it was terrible. WOW. And Twitter (X?!) hated it!
Golden Globes host Jo Koy just went off-script after one of his jokes bombed: âI got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. Youâre kidding me, right? Slow down. I wrote some of these, and theyâre the ones youâre laughing at.â#GoldenGlobes2024pic.twitter.com/K6DIDtdCes

Her midnight toilet trek was cut short when she stumbled across two men digging a hole in the dead of night. Caught off guard, Eden was knocked unconscious and bundled into an unknown car.
As the men sped off into the night, Eden came to in the boot of the car and was left reeling when she found herself face to face with the lifeless body of her best friend, Remi.

Husband and wife couple Lesley and Kyle have defended the actions of their co-stars Kristy and Leah, saying that they just got a bad edit on The Block 2023.
Although both Lesley and Kyle had huge falling outs with both Leah and her husband Ash, and Kristy and her husband Brett on the show, Kyle stood up for the women saying their edit was “disappointing”.
âUpon reflection, I do feel bad for Kristy and Leah because we spent so much time with them that we really got an opportunity to see their whole personality and who they are, and they themselves really balanced themselves out,â Kyle told Yahoo Lifestyle Australia.
The Block. Nine.
Kyle did acknowledge that Leah had moments where she was “off the charts” during the show, but stressed that she was someone he could have a âgenuine D&M conversationâ with.
âGetting to experience both sides of that, you sort of land somewhere in the middle. But as an audience, if you’re just watching the heightened Leah, then you’re not going to land in the middle,â he explained.
âEither you’re going to love her because you think she’s hilarious or youâre not because you think it’s too much.
âIt’s disappointing that you don’t get an opportunity to see everyone from their full spectrum of personality, but you can’t put that into a 40-minute episode so I get that.
“Thereâs just so much that happens in a week and to then condense that down to four days and still continue the most interesting storyline of that week, you’ve got to leave some things on the cutting room floor.â
The Block. Nine.
Lesley and Kyle think their portrayal was accurate
Since selling their house at The Block 2023 auction, Kyle and Lesley have had a chance to watch the entire show back. He told the publication that he believes the way he and his wife come across on the show was pretty spot on.
âWeâre not overly confrontational, but weâll still give an opinion when asked,â he said.
âNow that I’ve watched it back, I think we were on the show to balance out some of those other bigger personalities and that was sort of our role and we just played to our role almost naturally. Obviously, there were relationships that we formed with a lot of people that didn’t necessarily get shown a lot and a lot of things that we did that weren’t shown.â
It’s been confirmed that Big Brother Australia won’t be returning to screens this year, and reports suggest that the reality TV show has been axed for good.
TV Blackbox originally reported that the show had been cancelled following its lowest rating season ever in 2023. However, they’ve since clarified that while the axing hasn’t been officially confirmed, it won’t be back on TV in 2023.
The news originally came from journalist Luke Dennehy during an appearance on Perth radio station 6PR about Big Brother Australia’s future.
A spokesperson for Channel 7 has since stated that the channel is âstill considering [the showâs] futureâ.
The show’s future was shrouded in uncertainty after the finale aired in December 2023, and a spokesperson wouldn’t confirm the renewal of the series to Chattr.
âBig Brother performed well for this year in under 40s and, in particular, on 7Plus â both live streaming and video on demand. We will make a decision on a new season in due course,â a Seven spokesperson said.
Big Brother. Seven.
Big Brother Australia 2023 had record-low ratings
Big Brother Australia 2023 was the lowest rating ever for the franchise and attracted just 152,000 overnight viewers in the five capital cities for its 15th season.
Those stats compared to the show’s figures of 853,000 viewers with it relaunched in 2020 show a stark contrast.
Big Brother contestants complained about the show’s rejig
The 2023 season of Big Brother Australia saw a bunch of young and single contestants enter the BB house. Typically, the housemates are a fairly diverse group with varying ages and quirks.
During an interview with Chattr, contestant Anna Sophia said that she â100%â thinks that she would have gone further on the show had the casting choices been more like previous years.
Big Brother. Seven.
âIâm not gonna lie â I 100% thought there would be a lot more different personalities than there were. Quirky and different diverse people.
âBig Brother does a spin every year and it is different so I guess Iâve gone into this yearâs one. But it wasnât what I expected.â
Various other contestants shared their shock about the casting choices on Big Brother Australia 2023.
Get ready to make fetch happen all over again because the Mean Girls movie is almost here and we’ve been blessed with another nostalgia-filled trailer.
Cady Herron, Regina George, Gretchen Wiener and Karen Smith are all back for the reboot – but they’ll be played by different actresses than the OG Mean Girls film.
The trailer is absolutely jam-packed with references to the 2004 film, including Regina’s iconic ‘cool’ mum and the girls’ Christmas dance. You can watch it for yourself below:
Here’s everything we knew about the brand-new iteration.
What will the film be about?
Just like the OG film starring mega-celebs Rachel McAdams, Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried, Mean Girls follows new student Cady Heron who is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called âThe Plastics,â ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George and her minions Gretchen and Karen.
However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Reginaâs ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, she finds herself prey in Reginaâs crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the groupâs apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis and Damian, she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.
While it is LITERALLY the synopsis, there’s a huge twist. It’s a musical, based on the hit Broadway show!
Lorne Michaels and Fey both created and produced the new movie, with Fey serving as writer. The music, which is also seen in the stage production was composed by Jeff Richmond who also happens to be Fey’s husband!
When can we watch it?
While we think October 3 would have been a better choice, Mean Girls will be released in cinemas on January 11, 2024.
Is there a trailer?
Absolutely! Fetch it below!
Catch Mean Girls in cinemas nationwide from January 11, 2024.

Lauren shared a heartbreaking message for Jock on Christmas Day
The moving post comes just days after Lauren’s most recent post, which touched on her struggle of celebrating Christmas Day without Jock.
“Itâs different this year. No less love or excitement, just my stubbornness to see the kidâs faces light up in spite of it all,” she wrote alongside a video of Lauren and their children celebrating Christmas.
“Watching our gorgeous children navigating their first Xmas, I can see now that tragedy will make them. It will make them fierce and fearless, theyâll have a strength no-one can quite put their finger on,” the post continued.
“And they will undoubtedly have a life bigger than the one Jock and I dreamt for them because of this. Theyâll be stronger in the broken bits.”

The Block’s Kyle and Lesley may have had a bit of a rush trot from the judges on season 19 of the home renovation show, but that wouldn’t stop them from returning next season.
Despite consistently receiving negative feedback from the judges, Kyle and Lesley officially came in third place at the The Block 2023 auctions, beating both Kristy and Brett and Leah and Ash.
During a chat with Yahoo Lifestyle, the parents of two said that they’d love to return for season 20.
âIf they called us, there would be no hesitation,â Leslie told the publication âNow we’ve done it, I feel like we’d go in with a bit more gameplay than what we did before.â
Their hope to return may not be in vain either, The Block seasons All Stars, Fans v Faves and Triple Threat all included returning contestants, some who appeared in back-to-back seasons.
The Block. Nine.
Kyle said they would have an advantage if they return
Kyle told the publication that the experience he gained from The Block 2023 would surely help him if he were to return to the show.
âObviously they can change it up completely. We got schedules, budgets, everything up front, so obviously they can flip that and take it back to how they used to do it and then that would be a fully different experience for us,â he said.
âBut you know the person that you need to be on-site and what relationships you need to have with the builders and trades and stuff like that, and you would approach it a bit differently. I would do it, even though it’s Phillip Island and I havenât heard amazing things about the weather at that time of the year.â
The Block. Nine.
When is The Block 2024 on?
An official premiere date hasnât been announced yet. However, The Block generally starts in August each year, so the same is expected for 2024.
What we do know, however, is that this year’s Blockheads will be renovating spots by the sea on Phillip Island in Victoria.
âNothing is more important to us than delivering an incredible season for our 20th anniversary,â Executive producer Julian Cress told9Entertainment.
âItâs such a big milestone for us and we are absolutely delighted that we found the perfect location in such a wonderful holiday destination in Phillip Island.â
The renovations will take place at a popular holiday park, which has already been purchased by Channel Nine and is ready to be built at.
âWeâve purchased a holiday park just around the corner from the world-famous Penguin Parade, and so far the community has shown huge support for us and we are hoping for a really warm welcome for our new crop of contestants in the 20th year.â

Shortly after the season aired, photos were leaked of Carly kissing fellow groom Troy. Troy was paired with Ashley on the show, and the two were one of the most memorable couples of the season.
“Physically, Troy is my type. I do go for that preppy, private school-looking guy and Justin and I had a conversation about that,” she told TV WEEK at the time.
“We definitely bonded at the dinner parties, we seemed to be the ones in the relationships putting in a lot more than we were getting. I think we both sympathised with each other a lot more about that.”
The pair continued to date after the reunion was aired, but broke up nine months later.
The Bachelor Australia’s Irena Srbinovska has opened up about a condition that she and Locky Gilbert’s unborn baby has been diagnosed with.
The Bachelor couple are expecting their first child early this year, but Irena has taken to Instagram to reveal that her pregnancy hasn’t been smooth sailing.
“This is something I didnât think I was going to share but I have had a lot of questions about when my baby is due and I have deliberately not shared that for a reason,” Irena captioned a video on Instagram.
“So early in the pregnancy, our baby was diagnosed with a Single Artery Umbilical Cord which is more common than I thought. In fact, 1 in 100 pregnancies have a single artery cord. The main concern being that the baby is small to develop.”
In the post, Irena explained that the condition causes the baby to grow slowly, so she didn’t want to be compared to other women who conceived around the same time as her.
“Our baby and my bump is smaller than what is expected for how far along I am and I didnât want to be compared to other women around the same gestation as me,” she wrote.
However, the Bachelor winner decided to share her unborn baby’s condition in the hope of raising awareness for other mum’s to be who may be experiencing the same thing.

“Being pregnant isnât easy, we compare our bump, our pregnancy, our baby and our experience to those around us. I just wanted to put it out there that itâs OK if your experience is different to those of your friends, colleagues, relatives, people in media or whoever. Itâs your experience and itâs specialâŠitâs a miracle.
“Thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me, I have read them all and find so much strength from them.”
Unlike Love Island and MAFS, Survivor Australia isn’t usually the first pick for influencers looking to increase their followings. However, that’s all changed this year.
The cast for Survivor Australia 2024 has leaked, and there’s a fair few influencers amongst the bunch.
Eight of this year’s castaways have more than 5,000 followers, and that’s before the season has aired. Furthermore, three of those nine contestants have a following count in the six digits.
Which Survivor Australia 2024 contestants are influencers?
Check out the following counts of the most social media-savvy contestants below.
While the MAFS 2024 cast hasn’t officially been released yet, the brand-spanking new trailer gives us a first glimpse at who will be walking down the aisle in the upcoming season.
The trailer shows 15 of the singles who are looking for love on the popular reality show. Keep in mind that there will be 20 participants tying the knot, so we’re still left in the lurch about the identities of five of them.
However, we’ve popped together screenshots of each of the 15 participants who were shown in the trailer, which can double as a handy guide as you learn the participant’s names throughout the season. You can thank us later!
Here at home, we all know that Australian TV is pretty damn good, but we’ve finally got some global recognition!
Yup, The New York Times has released a list of the best TV episodes for 2023, and Survivor Australia made the cut.
There were 13 episodes mentioned in the article, and the Survivor ep was the only reality TV addition to the prestigious list.
Survivor Australia. Ten.
Which Survivor Australia episode was it?
The episode in question was season 8, episode 7: Return of the King. Survivor fans will know that the king reference in the episode title is about supervillain George Mladenov.
Geroge originally appeared on Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn where he came runner-up to Hayley Leake. He returned for Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains and created a whole lot of chaos before being voted out and coming in fourth. He has since competed on The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.
What did the New York Times say about the episode?
The New York Times said that Australian Survivor “has been outplaying the U.S. version for a while now”.
“Nowhere was that more evident than in this jaw-dropping episode from the âHeroes vs. Villainsâ season,” the writer detailed.
“The episode’s final tribal council featured a masterstroke of psychological manipulation by George Mladenov, or âKing George,â who emerged as one of the most telegenic antagonists of any version of the show. American Survivor is still a delight, but this iteration currently wears the crown.”
Did George Mladenov comment on the accomplishment?
Well, duh, of course, he did. George took to Instagram to share a screenshot of the article and gave himself a giant big pat on the back in his trademark style.
“All apps will now say: âOnce described by the @nytimes as one of the âmost telegenic antagonistsâ ever,” he captioned the post.

Dr Death season two is centred around the wrongdoings of a dodgy Swiss-Italian surgeon and medical researcher named Paolo Macchiarini.
The TV series follows the real-life story of Paolo who is portrayed as a heroic doctor who discovered how to replace synthetic windpipe implants in patients. However, things take a drastic turn when all of Paolo’s research appears to be fraudulent and many of his patients die as a result of his surgery.
Dr Death. Stan.
He’s eventually outed at the hands of his journalist fiance Benita Alexander. When she discovered that he had a secret wife and family she conducted an expose about his professional wrongdoings with Vanity Fair.
Meanwhile, Dr. Anders Svensson (Gustaf Hammarstan) and Dr. Nathan Gamelli (Luke Kirby) also work to bring down Paolo by showing his lack of testing prior to conducting the surgeries.
So, is Stan’s Dr Death real?
Stan’s Dr Death isn’t a documentary or biopic – it’s a dramatized version of events that went down regarding Paolo and his surgeries. However, many of the events did actually happen.
Dr Death. Stan.
Mandy Moore plays Benita and Paolo is portrayed by Ădgar RamĂrez. The series closely follows their love story – and its downfall.
While the show does cover Paolo’s story, it also has some creative liberties.
Is there a trailer?
There sure is, you can check it out below.
Where can I watch it?
All eight episodes of season two of Dr Death are available to stream on Stan.
You can also stream season one on the same platform, but it’s not related to Paolo. The first season dramatizes the story of Christopher Duntsch, an American neurosurgeon who was convicted after permanently mutilating his patients, and killing two of them.

After being passed up at The Block 2023 auction, the house that Leah and Ash renovated is still on the market.
With little interest from prospective buyers, the reality TV couple decided to lower their asking price by $75,000.
Yahoo Lifestyle Australia reported that an updated Statement of Information showed that the indicative asking price is now $3,125,000, which is down from the initial $3,200,000.
Leah and Ash’s house was the only one that didn’t sell at The Block auction. The couple allowed it to be passed over in the hope that it would sell for a higher price off market.
The Block. Nine.
Leah and Ash have had a lack of interest since listing their house
As days and weeks pass since their house went on the market, the chances of a high sale are getting slimmer and slimmer. On top of that, a potential buyer recently fell through.
Previously, it was reported that Leah and Ash’s house was set to sell for $3.1 million, which would tie them in third place with Lesley and Kyle.
However, Yahoo Lifestyle Australiahas reported that that buyer has since fallen through. The publication said that the house “has since lost all of their offers and is now sitting on the market with zero interest”.
A The Block builder weighs in on when Leah and Ash’s house will sell
While Leah and Ash haven’t publicly commented on the sale of their house since the auction, a builder from the show has shared his two cents.
The Block. Nine.
âIt is a really sad outcome for the two who poured a lot into this series,” he said about Leah and Ash’s house still being on the market.
âThey really thought they had found their happy ending but this has opened a lot of wounds for them both.â
The unnamed tradie said he believes that Leah and Ash’s house will eventually sell, but doesn’t necessarily think it will happen soon.
â2022 contestants Dylan and Jenny didn’t sell their house until February 2023 and it would seem Leah and Ash may also be looking at a similar wait,â he added.
âThe property will sell but for House 2 their Block journey is still far from over.â
