MAFS’ Brook reveals how tall Chris really is: ‘Stop trying to fight for six foot’

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 groom Chris Nield has made headlines for his fat-phobic comments, but he’s also provided unintentional comic relief by repeatedly reminding everyone that he’s six feet tall.

The topic was again broached when his bride, Brook Crompton, walked up to the altar, and they were notably the same height. Brook even commented on it during the nuptials, asking, “Where’s the inches?” The remark left a very sour look on both Chris — and one of his groomsmens — faces.

However, in an interview with Chattr, Brook clarified that she only made that comment after she heard a rude remark one of Chris’ groomsmen made about her as she was walking down the aisle.

“When I said the comment about a few inches, well, when I walked down the aisle, his friends said ‘She’s so f**king tall, and they didn’t put that in,” Brook explained.

“So I was already feeling nervous doing something so crazy, and that wasn’t put in. So I, that’s why I said that comment. Because I was like, No, I’m f**king putting these people in their places.”

Brook explained that the groomsmen’s comment prompted her to make a reference to it during her producer-led interview at the wedding.

“I’m surprised they didn’t put it in my voxies. That was a lot of questions I was asked, like how did you feel about being told as you walked down the aisle,” Oh, she’s so fucking tall.’ That is why I said, ‘If he doesn’t like that, it’s his problem.'”

How tall is MAFS’ Chris Neild?

Brook explained that she and Chris were similar heights, and even without heels on, there’s not much difference between them.

“I’m 5’9″, and he’s only a little bit taller than me. I reckon he’s probably like, 5’11”, she guessed.

Brook added that she thinks it’s a male thing to try and fake a little extra height, but says she doesn’t really understand it.

“I just think, who gives a s**t [about height], right? Like, you know, stop trying to fight for being six feet. I don’t know, boys can be boys. I feel like boys always make up things about their height. To be honest. I don’t think Chris is funny. I think that he is a joke himself.”

Brook thinks fat-shamer Chris never should have been cast on MAFS: ‘Dangerous human’

Brook Crompton strutted down the aisle on Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 only to find a fat-shaming groom called Chris Nield at the end. Viewers have watched as Chris made multiple comments in his audition tape and at the Bucks’ party about how he’s not attracted to ‘overweight’ people.

In an interview with Chattr, Brook said that she was “appalled” by Chris’s comments and said that if she had known about them at the wedding, she wouldn’t have said ‘I do’.

“I had no idea, and to be quite frank, if I had known, that man would have been ripped a new asshole. I would have done a full runner. I think my friends also probably would have annihilated him,” she said.

“I think it’s absolutely disgusting. I’m lost for words over it, to be honest. You should not be speaking about people like that or women like that in general,” she added. “I don’t stand for that behaviour ever, and I would never, ever be with someone who speaks about women like that. And I think it’s not him being insecure; he’s a dangerous human.”

Brook went on to say that she believes Chris was only cast on MAFS for the shock factor, and said it’s setting a bad example for young people who watch the show.

“I think he should not have been allowed on that show. For the fact that there are young viewers, parents are watching it with their kids. What kind of role model are you showing, that you’re going to be putting someone on there who body-shames women in front of young children as well? I just think it’s just so wrong.”

Brook also questioned why Chris thought it was a good idea to talk about his controversial views on national television in the first place.

“Who are you to think that that’s okay to go on Married at First Sight, and have a platform and speak about people like that? That is disgusting.”

What does Brook think Chris would have done if he wasn’t attracted to his MAFS bride?

Chris was giddy after meeting model Brook, who physically checks all of the superficial boxes he had for his bride before heading to his wedding.

Brook said that while Chris was smitten with the expert’s choice, she shudders to think what would have happened if Chris was paired with someone he wasn’t attracted to.

“Lucky for him, he seems like he got what he wanted at the end of the night, he wanted someone that was, you know, not — by quote of Chris — short, fat and needy,” she told Chattr.

“The repercussions are like, what would he have actually acted like if he got someone who wasn’t that physique? They gave him what he wanted, and now, oh, he’s all rainbows and butterflies, happy that he got what he wanted. But, that does not take away from the fact that he has said those words, and what would have happened if he didn’t get someone that he didn’t like?”

Brook said that had Chris not been happy with his match, his reaction would have been damaging.

“His words and what he says speaks for itself. I think that he would have done a runner. And I think he would if it said some horrible things about her behind her back,” she said.

Brook deserves better!

MAFS’ Bec says she felt like Danny took her for a test drive: ‘Devastated’

While couples can seem perfectly matched on paper, Married At First Sight (MAFS) has shown time and time again that physical and sexual chemistry can be a bit of a wildcard. During Bec Zacharia and Danny Hewitt’s honeymoon, the pair had sex on their first night. While the bride was satisfied, the groom soon informed her he didn’t feel a sexual attraction to her.

Bec tells Chattr she was blindsided by Danny’s reaction, because she believed they “had a great time”.

“I came out really positive, and he came out and said [the sexual chemistry] wasn’t there, which was quite shocking for me. It hurt,” she says. “It kind of felt like he just drove a car, being me, and then decided, no, I don’t want to buy it. I feel like he friend-zoned me way too quickly, if I’m honest with you.”

The socialite says she can’t speak for the groom, but acknowledges he may have felt some “pressure” to have sex early on. However, this seems to have been a mistake.

“He might have felt like there was pressure to [have sex]. But I think that maybe if he had sort of expressed to me, about the sexual chemistry before having sex, maybe we could have worked on our souls connecting first,” Bec adds.

Bec feels Danny didn’t ‘give her a chance’

MAFS viewers felt for Bec after seeing her break down in tears during her honeymoon, declaring that Danny made her “feel ugly”. The bride says it was a true reflection of what she was feeling, and admits to being heartbroken.

“I felt like he hadn’t given me a chance. He had decided that we were mates based off my looks rather than my heart. And it broke me. It did,” Bec recalls.

“In that moment, I was devastated… I was blaming myself for him, not having that attraction to me, and friend-zoning me.”

However, she now knows that this whole issue wasn’t about her or her looks at all; it was about Danny and his own hangups. “It’s about him. Because I’m a really, really good, kind human being, who would take the shirt off my back for my partner and my friends,” she adds.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though, because Bec is extremely attracted to her match.

“He’s gorgeous. He’s beautiful,” she gushes. “When I saw him, I thought he was a strapping young lad, tall [and] handsome.”

We’ve seen couples overcome the lack of sexual chemistry at the start — Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels had the same friend zone issue — so fingers crossed Bec and Danny follow in their footsteps.

Meet MAFS 2026’s oldest bride Rebecca who loves a silver fox

This year’s oldest Married At First Sight (MAFS) bride is Rebecca Zukowski. The 51-year-old participant is a mother of one, and looks like she will be a dominant personality.

During the Hen’s night, the bride jokingly warned the other participants to stay away from her husband.

We haven’t seen any success with older participants on MAFS so far, but could Rebecca be the first? Below, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about MAFS bride Rebecca, including what she does for a job and who she’s paired with on the show.

What does MAFS’ Rebecca do for a job?

Rebecca is a Leasing Manager for Scape Australia in Melbourne, Victoria. On LinkedIn, she gave some insight into what she does for work.

“I’m an operations and leasing leader with over 20 years’ experience across hospitality, real estate, and customer-driven environments, including large-scale living and community settings,” she said.

“My career has been built in high-pressure, highly visible environments where performance, reputation, and people all matter. Leading in these spaces has taught me that sustainable success isn’t driven by strategy alone — it’s shaped by emotional intelligence, self-trust, and the ability to remain grounded when decisions are complex or closely observed.”

Prior to joining Scape, Rebecca worked at Accor, Jasper Hotel and Mantra Group.

MAFS’ Rebecca is a ‘sucker for a silver fox’

The MAFS bride isn’t a fan of dating apps, as she finds the prompts and photos of her matches “ridiculous”. With one failed marriage under her belt, she always imagined she would be happily paired off at this age, but the stark reality has hit her.

Rebecca is a “sucker for a silver fox”, and hopes to find a match who will indulge in luxuries with her, such as dining out, champagne and fashion. However, the most important thing for her is to find somebody who will inject a bit of fun into her life.

Who is Rebecca matched with on MAFS?

Rebecca is matched with Steve Powell, a father of four daughters who is ready to find a long-term relationship.

If you’re curious about whether Rebecca and Steve are still together in real life, head here. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait to find out what happens throughout the experiment.

MAFS’ Gia claims Bec called her a ‘trashy s**t’ during filming: ‘I felt attacked’

The drama kicked off in the premiere episode of Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026, when Gia Fleur was shown calling Bec Zacharia a “five out of ten” at the hens’ party.

However, in an interview with Chattr, Gia clarified that she was responding to an extremely derogatory comment Bec had made about her first, explaining that shortly after she arrived at the hen’s party, Bec called her a “trashy s**t’.

“She said it to my face, very early on in the night,” Gia told Chattr. That was at the beginning of the evening, before I’d said anything, but that wasn’t shown, so I get why people are thinking I’m horrible, but a lot of things are out of context, and not the whole evening was shown.”

The mum-of-one went on to say that her comment about Bec being a “five out of ten” played out differently in real life.

“To me, that’s not really what happened that night. We were there for hours, and you guys saw six minutes. That wasn’t very accurate of what happened. A lot of what I did and said was taken out of context, like the comment about Bec being a 5 out of 10. I wasn’t referring to her looks. It was referring to how she was treating me.”

Gia explained that the reaction she received from some of the other women at the Hen’s night was extremely disheartening.

“I was judged the entire night. I was given death stares. There were a lot of comments made about me, and because I’ve been bullied before, and I used to just take it, I wanted to protect myself. So, I went into defence, and I felt triggered, and I’m okay. I’ve just got to, I’ve got to unleash now, and I’ve got to protect myself and back myself. So, that’s what was shown.”

Gia says there are ‘two sides’ to Bec

It sounds like there’s no love lost between Gia and Bec, with Gia telling Chattr that she thinks Bec is sneaky with the way she treats people.

“I think with Bec there are two sides, and she likes to be careful, and she wants to say things in a certain way, and kind of a little bit get away with it.

“Whereas I just say whatever’s on my mind, there’s no filter. I’ll say the same thing behind your back that I’d say to your face. There’s no difference.

Gia said she felt like Bec “judged” her straight away, adding that was what ultimately triggered her to clap back at Bec during the hens’ party.

“I don’t know if it’s there’s insecurities there, or what it is that she felt the need to look at me at face value and just assume that I’m this and that. But yeah, that’s essentially what she did, and I felt attacked, and you know that I just gave it back, pretty much.”

“I think going forward in the show, you’ll see both sides, hopefully, and you’ll see it’s not just me. There are other people who do some things that are questionable.”

Honestly, it sounds like we have another Dom vs Olivia situation on our hands this year.

Who is MAFS’ Danny Hewitt? Meet the reformed ‘player’

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 participant Danny Hewitt reminds us a little bit of Billy Belcher. The Brit moved to Australia in his 20s, instantly falling in love with the country.

He’s covered in tattoos, but is said to be a bit of a “soft and cuddly teddy bear” underneath all his swag and cheekiness.

What else do we know about this MAFS groom? Read on to see all the gossip we’ve found on Danny.

What does MAFS’ Danny do for a job?

Danny previously worked as a tradie, but has since swapped his toolbox for corporate life. He now works in real estate and finance, and is a bit of a hotshot. According to Daily Mail, he sold $9.6 million worth of property in 12 months, so he seems to be very successful.

“He knows how to work a room,” a production insider told the publication. “He’s not afraid of the spotlight, and that’s exactly what we want.”

MAFS’ Danny has made ‘many mistakes’ while dating in the past

This MAFS groom used to be a self-described “player”, but he swears he has changed his tune. According to his MAFS bio, he has “made many mistakes” while dating in the past, and ended up losing potential relationships as a result.

He’s now determined to find his “ride or die” partner, and he’s said to be protective, loyal and the type of person who will stand by his bride no matter what.

Who is Danny matched with on MAFS?

Danny is matched with socialite Bec Zacharia, the feisty bride who is already feuding with Gia Fleur. Their wedding doesn’t get off to a good start, as Bec tearfully declares she didn’t “want to be with anyone who gets arrested”. Yikes.

So, are Danny and Bec still together today? If you’re interested in a spoiler, we have an update here. Otherwise, we’ll have to see how their honeymoon plays out.

Meet MAFS’ bride Bec, who’s set to be at the centre of the drama all season

Despite being voted Adelaide’s most eligible Bachelorette twice, Bec Zacharia hasn’t found the one, but she’s hoping that will all change on Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026.

South Australian-based Bec is hoping to find the love of her life in the experiment, who’s preferably tall, has tattoos and a beard, and is someone she can banter with.

Bec considers herself loud, outspoken and a social butterfly. She has mixed heritage, as her mum is English and her dad is Greek.

Here’s everything we know about MAFS‘ Bec so far.

Bec was engaged before MAFS

Bec was engaged before coming on MAFS 2026, and she broke it off just 4 months before their intended wedding day.

“I was engaged to a lovely Englishman,” she told TV WEEK. “But, unfortunately, I just didn’t have those feelings back. I realised that if we got married, we’d get divorced. I thought it was better off not wasting my mother and father’s money on a wedding.”

Bec and Gia set for explosive clashes on MAFS 2026

Viewers have already seen Gia call Bec a “five out of ten” at the hen’s party, and it sounds like the tension between the women continues throughout the season.

In an interview with Chattr, Gia explained that her comment was taken out of context, and it was actually about the way Bec was treating her.

“The comment about Bec being a five out of 10. I wasn’t referring to her looks; it was referring to how she was treating me. I was judged [by her for] the entire night,” she said.

Gia teased that while Bec may have gotten a good edit at the Hen’s party, she believes that may not continue all season long.

“I think going forward in the show, you’ll see both sides, hopefully, and you’ll see it’s not just me. There are other people who do some things that are questionable.”

We can’t wait!

Meet model Brook, the MAFS bride paired with ‘fat-shaming’ Chris

It seems like Married At First Sight (MAFS) bride Brook Crompton has been dealt a bad hand. The model appears to be genuinely lovely, but she’s been matched with Chris Nield, the man who caused outrage online for his fatphobic comments in Episode 1.

We haven’t seen much of Brook so far, but there’s been plenty of information about her floating around online.

Here’s everything we know about MAFS 2026 Brook.

What does Brook do for a job?

The brunette bride is a model, and has worked for brands such as Calexico, Sally Phillips and Adrift, as well as posing for publications such as Style.

Brook was signed to Dallys Models back in 2014 and has been modelling consistently ever since.

The Queenslander is an Aries who contains multitudes, and you can find her either in bed early with a facemask on, or out partying with her girls.

Brook has been “cheated on” multiple times

While Brook is described as “fiercely loyal” with a good sense of humour, she’s been very unlucky when it comes to love. Sadly, she’s been cheated on by almost every partner she’s had.

This means she’s strong, honest and confident. Brook isn’t on MAFS to find more heartbreak; she wants to find her perfect match. She’s hoping to find a partner who is loyal, mature, trustworthy along with a good sense of humour.

Who is Brook matched with on MAFS?

Unfortunately, Brook is matched with Chris. He seems like the opposite of what she’s asked for, with his immaturity showing at the Bucks’ night.

He’s one of MAFS‘ biggest sceptics, and doesn’t put his trust in the experts. To be honest, it’s unclear why he’s on the show at all.

If you’re curious to know whether or not Brook and Chris are still together today, we have a massive spoiler for you. Otherwise, you’ll have to sit tight and see what happens on their honeymoon.

Real reason MAFS’ Gia was so upset about her secret child being revealed

Married at First Sight (MAFS) bride Gia Fleur was blindsided on her wedding day when her uncle revealed during the reception that she had a daughter — a personal detail she’d planned to share privately with her husband, Scott McCristal, later in the night.

Now, in an interview with Chattr, Gia has explained why having that moment taken away from her was so upsetting, and why she wanted to wait to divulge that detail.

“I knew he didn’t have kids, I assumed that whoever I would get probably wouldn’t have kids,” she explained. “And when I saw him, I thought, ‘Oh, he’s good looking, he’s successful like me, having a kid is probably going to be like a red flag for him or something that he doesn’t want to take on’.

“I felt a bit insecure. I’ve never dated as a single mum. I was with someone for 10 years before that, so I haven’t dated anyone, so I thought, ‘Oh, it’s gonna put him off’, and I just was weary.”

Some social media users have criticised Gia for not telling Scott about her daughter straight away, arguing that it was something she should have been proud to share.

“One minute your child is your life, the next minute you want to hide it from some random you met 5 minutes ago in case he doesn’t like it. So ridiculous,” one person wrote.

However, Gia stressed to Chattr that she couldn’t be prouder to be a mum, adding that she wanted to find out what Scott was like before talking to him about her daughter.

“She’s the love of my life. I’m with her every day. I’m a full-time parent. I have full custody of my daughter, so obviously, she’s the forefront of my whole life,” She explained.

“Basically, I just didn’t want to give him everything yet. I needed to suss him out. And she’s so important to me. I don’t want them close or to know anything about each other yet, because I’m like, Well, what if this didn’t work out? You know what I mean, I was trying to protect her in a way.”

Gia reveals how hard it was to leave her daughter and go on MAFS

Gia and her daughter live in Melbourne, so when she was cast on MAFS, Gia had to pack up and relocate to Sydney for months of filming.

She told Chattr that it was a “really difficult” decision to go on the show because of the time she’d have to spend apart from her daughter. However, she knew she had to give herself a shot at finding happiness.

“I just had to FaceTime her as much as I could. And she flew up to Sydney a few times, and I went home a few times on weekends, but it was very difficult,” Gia said.

“But, I’ve been single for three years, and I had my daughter every single day of her life, and I thought I needed to do something for me where I can meet someone, and I just don’t give myself enough time, I don’t go on dating apps. And I just wanted to throw myself in the deep end and see if it could work out.”

MAFS fans slam producers for setting up Luke and Mel’s wedding: ‘A joke’

Married At First Sight (MAFS) bride Mel Akbay was left waiting awkwardly at the altar during her wedding, after groom Luke Fourniotis had to make a mad dash home to pick up the rings. She was furious with her groom and didn’t forgive him for embarrassing her, even though he tried his best to make it up to the bride.

However, MAFS fans are convinced this entire situation was planned by producers, because Mel could have been told to wait and not walk down the aisle until Luke returned.

“There’s no way that wasn’t fully set up. All three went in to get the rings. He goes upstairs when he knows they’re downstairs. Then cameras and all, they let her walk down the aisle instead of getting her car to drive around another couple of minutes. That whole set up was a joke,” one fan wrote on Facebook.

“Sure was, it was just awful MAFS does this, just crap,” another agreed.

“Yeah the producers arranged this one, and they could have held Mel’s car up,” a third added.

“Can’t the producers speak to each other to say what happened and get her to wait? Such a set up,” another remarked.

Luke’s chewing gum act divides viewers

While Luke wasn’t seen as a bad guy for being late, right before he said his vows, he spat out his chewing gum and handed it to his sister. It gave Mel the ick, with some MAFS fans on her side.

“Is Luke chewing gum? FFS bro. Deal breaker. Off with his head,” a fan wrote on Reddit.

“The gum chewing would drive me crazy. I don’t mind having gum in the mouth but just refrain from chewing for five minutes,” another said.

“Why is old mate chewing chewy at the altar…. ick. I can handle the fact he was late, but not chewing chewy,” a third chimed in.

However, some criticised Mel for being too harsh on Luke, despite his chewing gum faux pas.

“He is never going to be good enough for her in her eyes. If she’s that precious about him being a bit late and chewing gum, how the heck is she going to cope with any real issues?” one fan asked.

“I think he is a cutie and just very excited to get to the altar. She is very unforgiving even after talking to her mum who was spot on,” another pointed out.

“What a horrible girl! She doesn’t deserve him!” a third exclaimed.

“If you have high expectations [in] a partner then don’t go on this show! Honestly, these people,” another added.

If you’re curious to know if Mel and Luke are still together now, we’ve got all the details here. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait and see what plays out during their honeymoon.

Are MAFS 2026’s Luke and Mel still together?

Melissa Akbay and Luke Fourniotis are on the younger side for a Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 couple, at 28 and 30, respectively. But when it comes to finding love, they’re both looking to settle down in the near future.

In theory, the two seem kind of great together: having inherited his late Dad’s cattle farm, Luke’s Instagram suggests that he’s living a rugged kind of life – wrangling animals, building fires, and chopping wood. It all seems to square well with Mel’s enthusiasm for traditional gender roles – she’s not ashamed to say that she’s looking for a fairytale – a perfect husband, and a perfect wedding.

So, could Melissa and Luke be one of the show’s 2026’s success stories? At this stage, we’ll have to tune in to find out. While viewers are only just about to see Mel and Luke meet and exchange vows, the series actually began filming in July 2025, meaning that the couple met about six months ago.

Read on to find out everything we know.

Melissa Akbay. Image: Instagram

Melissa was put off by Luke being late to their wedding

Like all of the couples on the show, the first time that Luke and Melissa meet is at their wedding. Unfortunately, Luke ends up being late to the ceremony, as he forgets the rings. The result is that Mel ends up waiting at the altar for him, at one point saying to a guest, “where is my husband? Is he here?”

When Luke finally arrives, Mel is understandably a bit agitated, with matters getting worse when she sees him chowing down on some gum as she reads out her vows. In a pretty gross moment, he realises the gum is probably not the best idea and hands it to a family member in the audience, which very much fails to improve Mel’s mood.

Are MAFS 2026’s Luke and Mel still together?

At the moment, the couple seem quite coy, with their social media accounts containing few hints as to whether to not they are still together. What is certain, though, is that the couple have very much gotten off on the wrong foot, with Luke’s wedding lateness and chewing gum fiasco really leaving a bad taste in Mel’s mouth.

So, do the two end up making it work, despite the initial roadblock? One report from The Daily Mail, though, suggests that the couple were seen doing their own thing after just one week of living together, with Melissa filmed walking around looking deep in thought while munching on a KitKat, and Luke spotted doing some stretches.

It’s not looking good, but we can’t say for sure. Be sure to check back, as we’ll be publishing each and every update we come across about Mel and Luke’s relationship throughout the season.

Meet MAFS 2026 bride, Mel Akbay who is looking for a ‘blue’ man and her happily ever after

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 has kicked off, and Mel Akbay is one of the 2026 brides hoping to find her happily ever after.

Mel Akbay is a romantic at heart who’s chasing that fairytale ending. Feeling the pressure of time and worried she’s being left behind, Mel admits she wants nothing less than the “perfect ending”.

Read on to find out everything we know about MAFS 2026’s Mel.

Who is Mel, and what does she do?

Mel Akbay is a 28-year-old bride originally from Canberra who now lives in Sydney, where she works as a public servant (which might explain her hopes for a picture-perfect future.) According to her Channel 9 bio, Mel describes herself as bubbly, funny and cute.

However, as she edges closer to 30, Mel admits she’s starting to feel the pressure, questioning where she’s at in life and whether love is slipping through her fingers. Now stepping into the MAFS experiment, she’s hoping this bold leap could finally deliver the fairytale she’s been waiting for.

What is Mel looking for in a partner?

Mel’s been single for six years but hopes to change that with a stint on MAFS. She said that prior to the experiment, she went on a lot of dates, but found that men in her age bracket didn’t want to settle down.

Mel didn’t go into detail about the exact qualities she’s looking for in a man in her Channel 9 bio, instead cryptically saying she’s looking for a ‘blue’ man for her ‘pink’  self. So, does she herself even know what qualities she really wants in a partner? We’ll have to watch to find out!

Who does Mel get married to on MAFS?

Mel is tying the knot to Luke on MAFS. A trailer has already teased that Mel is left stranded at the altar, so what is it that holds Luke up? And, will he show up at all? All the answers to these questions will be revealed in the second episode of MAFS 2026.

MAFS 2026 airs Monday – Thursday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

MAFS fans blast Alissa for making David get on one knee: ‘Major red flag’

The new season of Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 has finally kicked off, and it’s safe to say that it’s off to a chaotic start. In one of the most controversial moments of the evening, Adelaide bride Alissa Fay basically demanded that her match, Queenslander David Momoh, get on one knee and propose… at the altar.

As a visibly surprised David pushed back on her request, stating, “I can’t tell if you’re being serious” and “it’s too late, babe”, Alissa made clear that she was serious and wasn’t going to back down. Eventually, he gave in to her request, as his friends looked over in shock and concern.

The moment didn’t sit well with fans online, with one Reddit user saying that Alissa gave off “major red flag vibes”. Others say the demand was “manipulative” and reflected Alissa’s desire for “control and submission”. “It was no longer a request but a command, once she refused to go any further with it despite him saying he was uncomfortable with it,” added another fan.

Fans reflect on the racial politics of the moment

Many also found Alissa’s request especially inappropriate in light of David’s Nigerian heritage. “Something about it sat a bit uncomfortable to me,” another user began. “The image of a white woman demanding a Black man kneel… If I was her, and that was my game plan, and I walked in and saw him… I wouldn’t have gone through with it.”

Host of the MAFS Funny podcast, Joshua Fox, had similar thoughts. “Seeing [a white woman] standing there demanding David, who is a Black man demanding he… take the knee in front of a room full of strangers… Like that felt like just a little bit off given the significance of taking the knee and how… getting down on one knee… is now a symbolic gesture protesting racial inequality, systematic racism and police brutality.”

Fox said he was especially shocked when Alissa continued to make the demand after David didn’t seem comfortable with it. “When Dave was like, ‘nah, I don’t really want to do that’, the way she was like, ‘nah, I’d do it’. And with all these people are watching. She was very firm… I know Alyssa just meant it in the proposal way, but maybe she should have just been like, ‘Oh yeah. No worries’, when he went ‘nah’, because that’s where my mind went.”

MAFS 2026 airs Monday – Thursday on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Rachel Hunter reveals the blunt warning she left the I’m a Celebrity cast with after jungle exit

Rachel Hunter was the first campmate eliminated from I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia 2026, after a major shake-up that has seen the show ditch fan voting in favour of a new elimination challenge.

Reflecting on the new twist, Rachel told Chattr that she had warned the rest of the cast that it would dramatically change the camp dynamic, and not necessarily for the better.

“I was like, to self-eliminate against each other, it’s just going to cause [chaos]. I warned them when I left, I was like, you guys, this all changes now, like it all changes because of this, because of the elimination process of how it’s going without the fan vote,” she told Chattr.

“I mean, it’s an alliance. It’s definitely an alliance unless, like, I haven’t seen the rest of the show, unless it is an elimination process through the challenges [without any voting].”

Rachel pointed out that without the fan vote, there’s less chance the camp’s most beloved personalities will stay on our screens for long.

“Because you do want the ones who are real sparky and feisty in there! But, my journey in there… it was what it was. Like, what can I do? But, yeah, I’d love to come back and do more on TV in Australia,” she said.

Although she was a fan favourite, Rachel became the first to be eliminated after losing a challenge against Matt Zukowski, though she stayed humble about her elimination.

“I don’t want to get into, oh my god, like, you know, could I have gone any further? Is it unfair? Is it all this? It was what it was,” she said.

“Obviously, I wanted to stay longer. But, I said to Rebecca, God, if I stay any longer, and we were just talking about the self-preservation of, like, wanting to stay longer. And how you how your strategy would have changed. It probably wouldn’t have changed because I am who I am, but I was bummed [to leave].

Why isn’t there a fan vote on I’m a Celebrity Australia 2026?

Unlike the previous season of I’m a Celebrity, this year’s was pre-recorded and filmed in November 2026.

Because the show isn’t aired live, it wasn’t possible to include a fan vote in the challenges and eliminations throughout the season. However, fans will have input into deciding the winner.

The final three I’m a Celebrity contestants will be put to a public vote, with the contestant receiving the most votes crowned the season’s winner, with Julia Morris telling Chattr that even she doesn’t “know who wins”.

Those three celebrities have reportedly already filmed a segment in which they win the show, and only the real winners will play out on TV during the grand finale night. Not only does this help stop spoilers from leaking, but it also means the winner finds out their fate in real time with the rest of Australia.

One groom will apparently be ‘made to leave’ MAFS in the first two weeks

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 may have just kicked off, but we already have word that one of the grooms will be leaving the show in a matter of weeks.

Chris Nield wasn’t well received by viewers after announcing in his audition tape, which played during the premiere episode of MAFS 2026, that “fake tan, needy and fat people” turn him off. Fortunately for those fans, according to the MAFSFunny podcast, Chris and his fatphobic values won’t last long in the experiment.

“Well, the good news for you is, and again, spoiler alert, he’s not going to be on the show for very long, I think two weeks at best,” podcast host Josh Fox said.

Chris will be marrying model Brook Crompton on the popular reality show, and Josh said that Brook didn’t exactly warm to her new husband.

“I’m not going to go into the exact specifics now or spoil too far ahead… But what I will say is, regardless, like what we may watch over the next week of him and his wife, I think they first hit it off at the honeymoon, trust me when I say, it doesn’t last long, she sees straight through him. And there is a big thing that happens. And at one point she was like, ‘Nope, see ya’. And yeah, [she] flew home, but then she came back.”

Josh added that after she came back, another “big thing that happened off camera, that basically changed everything, and he was made to leave within 48 hours of that thing happening.”

Viewers react to MAFS’ Chris’s fat-phobic comments

Viewers slammed Chris online after he made the comment about “fat people” being a turn-off in his audition tape, and he later doubled down on the claims, once again claiming that he’d never date a ‘fat’ person at the MAFS Bucks party.

“Can I just pop Chris on my s**t list already?” One person wrote immediately after the segment aired.

“Chris needs to worry about that hairline he’s trying to hide more than other people’s bodies,” another wrote, while a third penned: “Chris fell out of the douchebag tree and hit every branch on the way down.”

“I’m 8 mins into MAFS, and Chris is a f**kwit. 8 mins,” another wrote.

Based on the online response, it’s safe to say Chris’s exit probably won’t be mourned by many viewers.

Meet MAFS 2026’s Rachel Gilmore, the wholesome bride who’s genuinely looking for love

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 bride Rachel Gilmore hasn’t been in a serious relationship for 14 years. Instead, she has found herself in many “situationships” and is hoping to find that “white picket fence” happily-ever-after on Australia’s biggest reality TV show.

Keep on reading to see what else we know about Rachel.

Who is Rachel Gilmore and what does she do?

Rachel is 35 years old and works as a Team Leader in Melbourne, Victoria. According to her MAFS bio—and, honestly, it’s clear from her photos—she’s a warm and bubbly woman with maternal energy and a heart of gold.

She’s known for her big personality and fierce loyalty to the people she loves. The 2026 bride isn’t afraid to stand up for what’s right, which is exactly the kind of energy we need this MAFS season!

Heartbreakingly, though, Rachel hasn’t had much luck in love. Throughout her dating experiences, she’s never been with a man who has made her feel attractive or given her genuine compliments. This has left her questioning her own worth and led her to believe she’s “not beautiful enough” to be in a relationship. As a result, Rachel hasn’t been in a serious relationship for over 14 years.

Our hearts are already breaking for Rachel, so please, experts, get this one right and don’t mess it up for our girl!

Who is Rachel’s marrying on MAFS?

According to photos shared by The Daily Mail and posted on the MAFS fan account, MAFS GOSSIP, it appears Rachel is paired with groom Steven.

Steve is a former musician who now fixes boats for a living. Throughout his life, Steven has found dating challenging, saying he’s struggled with women who come to the table with a never-ending checklist of expectations. He’s hoping to find someone who’s ambitious, easy-going, and accepts him for who he is.

MAFS 2026 premieres on Monday, February 2 at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

With Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 about to hit our screens, the MAFS 2026 cast is set to deliver drama, emotion, and entertainment. One participant who already stands out is Adelaide bride Alissa Fay.

She’s tipped to be one of the most talked-about brides from MAFS 2026, and already has a large fanbase.

Here’s everything we know about Alissa so far.

What does MAFS’ Alissa do for work?

Alissa is both a social media influencer and a nurse. She has over 268,000 followers on TikTok and works with different brands online. She’s walked red carpets, flown to the other side of the world, and shares slices of her life on TikTok.

The bride is an ambassador for the car brand Southern Chery, and was even flown to Paris for a photoshoot with them. On TikTok, she described it as an “experience” she would “never forget”.

“If you had told me when I started my social media career five years ago that I would be working with Australian Motors / Southern Chery I wouldn’t have believed you,” she said. “So unbelievably grateful to be on this journey with Southern Chery.”

Her most popular TikTok has over 2.2 million views, so she will be bringing her built-in fan base along for the ride.

Alissa is “fiery but lovable”

According to Daily Mail, Alisa’s friends say she’s “fiery but lovable” and “someone who doesn’t back down from a challenge”.

The bride is said to love the spotlight (which seems true, considering her social media presence) and will likely be the talk of the town during MAFS 2026.

She recently ended a high-profile relationship, with sources claiming she’s on the show to find love. Time will tell!

Who is Alissa matched with on MAFS 2026?

Alissa has been matched with 31-year-old David Momoh, who’s a self-described hustler and rapper, according to Daily Mail Australia.

However, it may not be a happy ending for the couple, as a source told Chattr that Alissa was on the show for the wrong reasons. “Everyone will understand when they watch MAFS, because it was very obvious what she was there for,” the insider told Chattr. “She was only there for her influencing career; she wasn’t genuine.”

MAFS 2026 premieres on Monday, February 2 at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Meet MAFS 2026’s Steven Danyluk: From rockstar dreams to fixing boats

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 groom Steven Danyluk has lived a few different lives; from chasing rockstar dreams to now fixing boats for a living. Once tunnel-visioned on his career and admittedly guilty of putting work first, Steven says he’s finally ready to prioritise love and find a woman who accepts him for who he truly is.

Who is Steven, and what does he do?

Steven Danyluk is a 34-year-old groom from New South Wales and a self-described goofball who loves adventure and isn’t afraid to be a little silly. According to his Channel Nine MAFS bio, he once dreamed of making it big as a rockstar, chasing the kind of fame Guns N’ Roses achieved. But life had other plans. Instead of performing on sold-out stages, Steven now rocks in a different way, fixing boats as a marine technician. Quite the pivot, right?

What is holding Steven back from finding love?

Dating has never come easy for Steven. Self-admittedly, he finds the dating world “uncompromising,” feeling that women often have a never-ending checklist; and as a result, love has yet to find its way… until now!

But if the MAFS experts have got it right this year, all of that could be about to change. Steven’s single days might be numbered… and this time, it could be for good, and gosh, we hope that this is the case for Steven.

Who is Steven’s bride-to-be, and what is he looking for?

With MAFS premiering tonight, we don’t officially know for sure, but based on photos shared by The Daily Mail and posted on the MAFS fan account, MAFS GOSSIP, it looks like Steven is to be wed to be is bride, Rachel Gilmore.

What we do know is that Steven is looking for a woman who is ambitious, easygoing, and can handle his sense of humour. Here’s hoping Rachel can take a joke or two… but we’ll find out for sure very soon!

MAFS 2026 premieres on tonight, February 2 at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Meet MAFS 2026’s David Momoh, the self-described hustler and rapper

With Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 hitting our screens tonight, and among this year’s grooms is David Momoh, who is a self-described hustler who’s confident he can have it all. Ambitious, outspoken and unapologetically driven, David is stepping into the experiment believing he can balance love, success and his fast-paced lifestyle… but whether that confidence translates into commitment remains to be seen.

Who is David Momoh and what does he do?

David Momoh is a 31-year-old groom from Queensland who wears many hats, something that becomes instantly clear with a quick scroll through his Instagram. With 10,000 followers and a carefully curated feed, David presents himself as ambitious, driven and constantly on the move. Professionally, he works as an e-commerce product manager, balancing his corporate career with a strong personal brand and a history as a rapper.

With his fingers in many different pies, David is also unapologetic about the attention he receives from women, admitting his DMs are often “coming in hot”. While some may interpret this confidence as cocky, or even assume that he’s a playboy, David insists that couldn’t be further from the truth. Determined to move past relationships that don’t last beyond a year, he says he’s genuinely ready to find “the one” and is willing to make time for the right woman. So… let’s wait and see, shall we?

David’s Christian upbringing

David comes from a Christian family in Nigeria and moved to Australia with his family at the age of 12. Raised in a faith-led, community-focused household by parents who are both pastors, his upbringing continues to shape his values today. When it comes to love, David is clear about what he wants: he’s looking for a woman who either shares his faith or respects it. For him, there’s no in between.

What kind of woman is David looking for?

According to his official bio on Channel Nine, David admits that physical attraction is important to him. The type he usually goes for? A feminine blonde who’s fit, with a “big booty” and a “small waistline”.

Well, David, we hope you get everything you’re looking for.

Who is David’s bride-to-be?

According to sources, David’s bride-to-be is a social media influencer and nurse, Alissa Fay, who is already getting the wrap for being on the MAFS 2026 for all the wrong reasons, and it’s not even kicked off yet.

Still, as every MAFS fan knows, first impressions don’t normally tell the full story, and time will only tell how this relationship unfolds.

MAFS 2026 premieres on tonight, February 2 at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

I’m A Celeb fans furious with first elimination: ‘Not watching with Rachel gone’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2026 was pre-recorded at the end of last year, so fans are unable to choose who leaves the jungle. The first elimination saw Rachel Hunter sent home after going up against Matt Zukowski in a challenge.

The campmates were split into two teams, yellow and green. Each team were able to nominate one person from the other team to be nominated for elimination, with Cyrell Paule from the green team announcing they had picked Rachel.

“I’m just very cut, and to me, this really showed that the game has changed. Everyone’s out for survival in this right now,” Rachel said.

Gary Sweet from the yellow team then revealed they had picked Matt.

“My heart sunk, it wasn’t the best feeling,” Matt said. “I will fight with every breath and smash out whatever’s put in front of me.”

Rachel and Matt faced a tough elimination challenge at the Elephant Graveyard, which saw them compete in a game of bluff. Basically, each contestant had to guess what coloured card their opponent was holding, without seeing it. And, with the most incorrect guesses, it was Rachel who was the first celeb eliminated from I’m a Celebrity Australia 2026.

Fans slam the new I’m a Celebrity elimination format

Fans flooded the official I’m a Celebrity Australia Instagram to complain about the elimination challenge, making it clear they miss the days when viewers had the power to vote.

“Much preferred the viewer votes for their favourite celebrity and charity. This new format is too much like Survivor,” one person wrote.

“Shocking way to get eliminated! So disappointing! I feel like the surface was barely scratched with Rachel, and she would have so much more to offer, and now she’s gone. She was one of the few legit world-known celebs in there,” a second wrote.

“This way of eliminating celebs is actually terrible. Means the person and charity that people wanted to win won’t win,” a third chimed in.

Others vented their frustration over seeing fan favourite Rachel eliminated so early in the competition.

“Such a big mistake, I’m done. I didn’t know Rachel meant so much to me in the jungle until you got rid of her. Good luck with the rest of the season,” a fan commented. Another wrote “Noooo I didn’t want Rachel to go, whatever happened to the public voting?”
