Married At First Sight (MAFS) has seen Bec Zacharia and Danny Hewitt’s relationship go through plenty of struggles, but the couple have put on a united front throughout the experiment.
Coming onto the show, Bec was looking for a serious match, as she’s already broken one engagement prior to MAFS. Her groom Danny is a “reformed” player, looking for somebody to finally settle down with. A sense of humour is also important to both the bride and groom. So, on paper, they’re a good match.
Although Bec and Danny struggled to find a spark on their honeymoon, their connection grew from strength to strength through the MAFS experiment. By the tail end, Bec had told Danny she loved him, but the groom refused to say it back.
So, did Danny’s feelings end up catching up to Bec in the end, or did the couple throw in the towel and go their separate ways? Read on to find out everything we know about their relationship status.
Are MAFS’ Bec and Danny still together in real life?
Bec spilled her heart to Danny at Final Vows, but he turned around and dumped her, leaving her heartbroken. So, what happened after they both walked away from that fateful meeting?
Bec says Danny didn’t ever reach out to check in on her after Final Vows
Bec told Chattr that she was absolutely devastated after learning of Danny’s decision.
“I didn’t get out of bed for six days, she said. “The people that were there for me day in day out were Rebecca [Zukowski], Rachel [Gilmore] and Sammy [Stanton], every day, five times a day, these people were on the phone to me.”
Bec added that even though Danny saw how wrecked she was after he dumped her, he didn’t so much as shoot her a text to check up on her.
“He refused to speak to me,” she revealed. “Danny did not ring me. He did not speak to me. I ended up ringing him. He didn’t answer. I had to message him and say, Danny, I need to speak to you.”
“After Final Vows, he messaged Sammy Stanton and said, ‘Tell Bec I’ll call her in a couple of days’. He never rang. I was the one who had to reach out to him to try and get answers as to why this happened.”
Source says Bec was blindsided at Final Vows
Back in March, an insider revealed to Chattr what happens between Danny and Bec at Final Vows. The source, who’s close to the cast told us that the couple made it to the end of the experiment, but Danny blindsided Bec and dumped her.
“They make it to Final Vows, and Bec chooses to stay with Danny, but Danny doesn’t choose to stay with Bec, which kind of plays into the narrative and discourse online, which is that Danny’s actually not into her,” they said.
The source added that the audience probably won’t be surprised by the result, as Danny has made it abundantly clear that he’s not feeling Bec.
“Everyone can probably tell that’s going to happen because he’s just not into her. If someone’s into you, you know.”
Unsurprisingly, the Insider said Bec was heartbroken upon learning Danny’s decision.
“She was in a really bad place for like, three days. She wasn’t okay. It was a blindside for her, because she was like, ‘I love you’, and she was expecting him to say it back, but he didn’t. He left.”
Danny’s allegedly been chatting to female fans on his burner Instagram account
In an episode of MAFS Funny posted on March 23, host Josh Fox speculated that Danny has been more focused on getting Instagram followers like his stripper friend, Will Parfitt, reporting that Danny’s using his burner account to DM female fans.
Apparently, Danny messaged one woman, stating, “We can hang out at my hotel, though I know that sounds sleazy as f**k,” “If it’s dark, we can go somewhere very quiet, but I’ve got to be careful,” and “I can wear a hat”.
He’s also reportedly been spotted on double dates with Filip and Stella, accompanied by a woman tradie.
Bec told fans that she and Danny are still together on IG live
Bec also went rogue on Wednesday, March 11 and popped on an Instagram Live with former MAFS bride Awhina Rutene, where she spilled a bucketload of tea.
During the Q&A session, a fan asked Bec if she and Danny “aren’t together”, and the MAFS bride confirmed they are, revealing they attended the filming of MAFS: After the Dinner Party together just days before it aired on March 11.
“We are definitely together, you’ll see us, we flew to Sydney for the Stan show, but we both live in different states at this point in time,” she replied.
On top of that, Bec is currently following Danny, and he follows her back. This could either mean the two are still very much in love, or perhaps they’re just keeping up appearances while the show is on.
To throw another spanner in the works, Stranded on Honeymoon Island star Georgia Moore shared an interesting TikTok in February showing a man who appears to look like Danny out with another woman.
“It’s Danny? The guy who has married Bec, in the current season of MAFS. It kind of looks like him,” she said. “Hold on, that’s not his wife, Bec. Who’s that? And she’s a hot brunette. Look at those abs.”

Bec teases Valentine’s Day plans
Bec also told Chattr in an interview at the beginning of the season, she has plans to celebrate her birthday and Valentine’s Day with a few people, and said it will be “full of love”. Could this be a hint that it includes Danny?
She also said there’s a chance that she could fall in love with Danny, which sounds hopeful. “There’s always a chance for love. You know, I can speak for myself and myself only, but I know that I came onto Married At First Sight for love as a big believe in the experiment,” Bec said.
