Married at First Sight’s Rhi Disljenkovic is opening up about the lessons she’s learned from her past relationship, sharing a cryptic post four months after splitting from her MAFS partner, Jeff Gobbels.
In a series of Instagram images, Rhi shared some of her insights. “Love isn’t always enough. Love without communication, effort, respect, shared values and a shared vision for the future will eventually leave someone feeling alone,” she wrote.
She went on to admit feelings of ‘loneliness’ in a past relationship. “Being in a relationship doesn’t mean you can’t be lonely. Sometimes the loneliest place you can be is next to someone who makes you feel unseen, unheard or unsure of where you stand,” she wrote.
Rhi warned her 336k followers not to stay in a relationship out of fear of the unknown. “Don’t stay because you’re scared to lose the life you have,” she said.
“Choose the person who makes you excited about the life ahead of you, not the person you stay with because you’re terrified of having to build a new one.”
The PT went on to reveal she felt pressure to change herself by an ex-partner. “The right relationship won’t cost you yourself. If keeping the relationship means becoming smaller, quieter, less independent or less like yourself, the price is too high,” she wrote.
The Melbourne content creator went on to speak about not feeling ‘chosen’ in the past. “You shouldn’t have to convince someone to choose you. Marriage. Kids. Commitment. A future together. You deserve someone who is excited to build those things with you, not someone you have to keep convincing to want them,” she said.
“Believe patterns, not promises. Words can make you stay. Actions show you what you’re actually staying for. Consistency will tell you more than any apology, promise or ‘I’ll change’ ever will.”
When did Rhi and Jeff split after connecting on Married at First Sight?
Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels had one of the more unusual beginnings in MAFS history. When they were matched on the 2025 season, Rhi and Jeff arrived at the altar already knowing each other. They had met through mutual friends and briefly dated in 2023, before things ‘just fizzled’ between them but they remained friends. Neither knew the other had applied for MAFS before producers matched them.
Their second shot proved much more successful, with Rhi and Jeff making it through Final Vows and continuing their relationship outside the experiment. They later moved in together in Melbourne and were together for roughly 18 months following filming.
Earlier this year, Chattr noticed the pair had unfollowed each other on Instagram before their split was confirmed, fuelling speculation that something was amiss.
Rhi later announced they had “decided to part ways”, describing it as “one of the hardest decisions” she had made and saying she was grateful for their love and memories.
Jeff separately confirmed ‘my relationship’ had ended, calling it an “incredibly difficult time” and thanking fans for supporting him while asking for privacy.
