Farmer Alex and Eddy on Farmer Wants a Wife

Farmer Alex has made it clear from the start that he has strong feelings for Eddy, picking her for the first Farmer Wants A Wife 24 hour date and gifting her a pearl necklace. However, they recently hit a speed bump after Farmer Alex was thrown off when she said grace at the dinner table.

The move prompted Farmer Alex to ask Eddy about his religious beliefs, and she said that she’s “not a devout Christian or anything, but I do believe I feel like there has to be something else out there.”

Farmer Alex said in a producer-led interview that he doesn’t think he’d be able to date someone or have a long-term relationship with someone religious, and told Eddy that he was agnostic. She responded by saying she’d like her future kids to be christened, but thinks a relationship with Farmer Alex can work as long as he’s not an atheist.

The couple continued to dance around the subject before deciding that they should speak in depth about it more in the future. However, Farmer Alex has told Chattr that he’s concerned about their opposing views on religion.

“Eddy has made it clear to me that she is religious and she follows Christian teachings, and that’s not something that’s involved in my life at all, and it’s not something that I want to be involved in raising my kids,” he said.

“I really hope that her and I are able to work through it. She has told me that she derives the values from the church and not necessarily the organised religion element of it, so I’m hoping that we’re going to be able to bridge that gap and find a middle ground, even though I’ve just said that I will not raise my kids religious, which implies there’s no middle ground.”

Is it fair on the other Farmer Wants a Wife Ladies when a Farmer already has a clear favourite?

It’s been abundantly clear to viewers that Eddy is a frontrunner for Farmer Alex, and some of the other Farmers have made it quite obvious who their favourite is. Farmer Dylan has spent a lot of time gushing about Ally and Farmer Jarrad went on back to back dates with Carly.

So, how does it feel for the Ladies when their Farmer zeroes in on one person who isn’t them? Maya, who’s competing for Farmer Zac, told Chattr that while it can be disheartening, it’s just part of the process and it’s best to stick it out and keep trying.

“I think the 24-hour date solidifies a lot of strong connections. However, it is hard, I had the same experience with Grace going on the 24-hour date. I could easily tell that there was a strong connection in between them,” she said.

“But it’s just [about having] confidence in yourself, and knowing that you’ve just got to keep trying, and keep building that connection with the farmer.”

Farmer Wants a Wife airs Sunday – Tuesday on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
