Farmer Wants a Wife couple Tom Martin and Georgie Lavery surprised fans by calling it quits, but there were a few clues that suggested they were over before the told the world.
The couple, who found love on the 2025 season of the reality dating show, confirmed their engagement in July 2026, after Tom popped the question at Avalon Falls in January.
However, just three months after sharing their exciting news, Georgie has confirmed that the pair have called off their engagement and decided to go their separate ways.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, Georgie revealed that the decision hadn’t been an easy one.
“Unfortunately, Tom and I have decided it’s best for us to go our separate ways,” she told the publication.
“It’s been a really difficult decision, but ultimately, we’ve come to realise that we’re just not on the same wavelength anymore,” she continued.
“As sad as it is, we feel it’s the right decision for us both moving forward.”
While the announcement came as a shock to fans who had been following their love story, looking back at Georgie’s social media activity, there were a few signs that perhaps things weren’t going to plan.
The social media clues fans might have missed
The magazine reported that at the time of publication, Georgie still had photos of herself and Tom together on her Instagram profile. However, a closer look at her more recent posts showed that most of her content since their January engagement featured her spending time with friends or enjoying solo outings.
Even more tellingly, just five days before news of their split broke, the paediatric nurse shared a video montage celebrating Paediatric Nurses Week and eagle-eyed followers may have noticed something missing.
Her engagement ring was nowhere to be seen.
“Happy Paediatric Nurses Week so those who celebrate,” she captioned the post. “We are so lucky to have the best job in the world (and getting to wear fun scrubs everyday).”
Of course, neither Georgie nor Tom had publicly suggested their relationship was in trouble before the announcement, but the timing of the post has certainly taken on a different meaning in hindsight.
Tom and Georgie had big wedding plans
Fans were thrilled when Tom and Georgie’s engagement was revealed, with their proposal airing during the 2026 season of Farmer Wants a Wife.
While teasers for the season had hinted that one of the farmers would be getting down on one knee, New Idea exclusively revealed that it was Tom and Georgie weeks before the moment aired.
At the time, an insider told the publication the proposal was designed to be a major moment for the franchise.
“It was designed to look like a fairytale moment to cement the series as a legitimate place to find your happily ever after,” the source said.
And it seemed the former couple were already looking ahead to their next chapter, with Woman’s Day previously revealing they planned to tie the knot in April 2027.
The wedding was reportedly set to take place at Magpie’s Nest winery in Wagga Wagga.
Before their split, the pair had also been living together on Tom’s farm in Borambola, NSW.
Sadly, it seems their fairytale romance wasn’t meant to have a happily ever after.
