Between the sweet love stories and the adorable dates, Farmer Wants A Wife 2026 looked set to add a few more success stories to the franchise’s impressive track record, but all of the couples have now called it quits. Eek!
Farmer Dylan and Ally had one of the season’s most on-off romances. Their adorable chemistry was obvious early on, but things unravelled when Ally dramatically left the farm. She later returned at the Black Tie Dinner, where she and Dylan reconciled, and Dylan ultimately chose her over Scarlett, declaring his love in the finale.
The pair came together as a couple at the reunion, which aired on August 2, but confirmed their split immediately after. Their relationship had ended around a month after filming, after Ally spent several weeks on Dylan’s farm.
Meanwhile, Zac chose Maya over Mieke in the FWAW finale after their connection steadily strengthened throughout the show. The pair survived beyond the reunion and even attended the Logies together, making them the last remaining couple from the 2026 season.
On September 27, 2026, Zac and Maya announced they had split, explaining that maintaining their relationship between South Australia and Melbourne had become difficult and that the timing wasn’t right for their next step to move in together.
Their breakup means all five couples formed in the 2026 finale have now split. Yikes. But it isn’t unprecedented: the 2020 season ultimately had no surviving couples either, so 2026 isn’t the franchise’s first completely unsuccessful year.
That said, it doesn’t set a great precedent for the class of ’27, right? With this in mind, Chattr spoke to Maya and Ally about the future of FWAW.
Maya and Ally address the future of Farmer Wants A Wife amid zero successful 2026 matches
In an interview with Chattr, Maya defended FWAW despite the 2026 season resulting in no relationships.
“I don’t think it says anything about the Farmer Wants a Wife system,” Maya told Chattr.
“I think that relationships obviously take work and they take time and energy and effort and I think that it’s more about making it last long-term outside of the show. With Farmer Wants a Wife, you’re not always filming, you’re not always having the show around you, so I don’t think it really had to do with them.”
Maya praised the show for connecting her with Zac. “They introduced Zac into my life, and I don’t regret any of that,” she said. “It’s definitely not anything bad on their end.”
The FWAW winner understands that fans feel especially invested in her breakup — given Maya and Zac were the last couple standing.
“I understand that everyone has their own opinion, and I appreciate that,” Maya said.
“I think that long distance can work for so many people, and I’m happy for them. But unfortunately, just didn’t work for us, and so I don’t think putting negative energy out there is the right thing to do, but I also can’t control everyone, and so I just tend to keep going about my day as I do.”
Ally told Chattr that even though her relationship with Dylan was short-lived, she doesn’t begrudge the show for not leading her to a long-lasting relationship.
“It hasn’t quite turned out how I thought it would, obviously,” she admitted. “But I feel like I’ve learnt this year that you need to adjust to things when they don’t necessarily pan out the way you thought they would, and good things will come your way.”
Ally has nothing but fond memories of her time on FWAW. “I loved my experience,” she said. “Even though my relationship with Dylan didn’t work out, I still look back on the relationship with Dylan and also my experience on the show, and I just feel like I had the best time.”
Maya added that she doesn’t believe the show’s format needs an overhaul. “I wouldn’t change the structure of it!” she said.
“It’s very rare to find your forever love through a reality TV show, so I think they did as much as they could and it’s up to us to continue that relationship outside of it.”
