Farmer Alex was a man who knew what he wanted on Farmer Wants A Wife (FWAW) Australia 2026, choosing Eddy as his winner before the finale.
In the fairytale moment, Alex reflected on their first date, telling her: “What took me most about you was how different it felt around you compared to how first dates usually feel. I was just totally intoxicated by everything about you,” he said.
Then came the big declaration: “Your wit, your beauty, your radiance… I’ve fallen in love with you, Ed.” Interestingly, Eddy didn’t say “I love you” back straight away, but told him she really cared about him, wanted to keep going, and was “falling in love” with him too.
It was a bit cute! But are they still together?
Sadly, Alex and Eddy have since called it quits. According to New Idea, the FWAW winners split “shortly after” filming wrapped up. And did Eddy leave a big ol’ spoiler about their fate on social media? Read on for all the goss.
The split is yet to be confirmed by the couple, but New Idea did share some curious comments Eddy had made about Alex, who picked her as his winner on Sunday night, sending home Rachel.
Eddy oddly shared that she felt “no relief” when she was chosen, adding “I think maybe I knew all along that he was gonna pick me.”
“When the emotions all calmed down, I was kind of like, ‘Oh yeah, okay, I was confident this was gonna happen maybe on some subconscious level’,” she continued.
Eddy went on to express some hesitations over Alex not exploring his connections with the other women. “Part of me does always worry that he might not be 100 per cent on that decision, just because, I mean, when you’re looking back on it, maybe he’s now realising he didn’t give them any opportunity or he didn’t explore a connection with them,” she said.
“But then, getting to know the girls, I’m also like, I don’t know if they would have been the right fit for him.”
This is a sad ending to a refreshing love story.
Eddy debuts a new boyfriend after Farmer Wants A Wife
As if this news could be a bigger shock for FWAW fans, New Idea has published photos that appear to show Eddy with her new boyfriend.
The magazine has reported that Eddy has started a new relationship with an Aussie-based Frenchman named Matthis. In photos captured on June 28, the pair were seen near Eddy’s Brisbane home, walking her dog, Whiskey, and grabbing coffee at a nearby cafe.
They were photographed embracing and holding hands, all but confirming they’re a fully-fledged romance. Apparently, the pair were introduced through mutual friends at the start of 2026 and have become inseparable.
The most awkward part is that this couple hasn’t been shy. In a huge spoiler on Eddy’s part, New Idea reports that the couple started appearing in social media photos together in January, 2026. Awkward!
In March, Eddy posted a photo on her Instagram, featuring her arm wrapped around Matthis.

Farmer Alex on Farmer Wants A Wife
Alex was introduced as a 28-year-old farmer based in Queensland’s Noosa Hinterland, where he works as a cattle and mushroom farmer. Alex’s farm life is a little different from the usual reality TV image of paddocks and tractors: Alex grows specialty mushrooms in carefully controlled indoor environments, while cattle roam the family’s 400-acre property.
Alex was the show’s first mushroom farmer, and his work clearly keeps him busy. “We’re growing rapidly so the work keeps me on the farm seven days a week,” he said. Ooft!
But all this hard work is part of a bigger plan. “I have been working hard to build my life and wealth so I can comfortably disappear overseas for a while,” Alex said, adding: “I am keen to embark on this journey with someone I love.” Umm, I volunteer!
So what was Alex looking for in a potential partner? “I am looking for someone who is deeply connected with themselves and the world around them,” he admitted. “I am looking for someone who values learning. I am a nerd at heart, and I want to be with someone similar.”
And this lucky lady had some rom-com moments coming her way if Alex has anything to do with it. “Life is too short not to make grand gestures,” he said. “I have a lust for life, and I want to share this journey with someone who feels the same.”
Farmer Alex’s love story on Farmer Wants A Wife
Farmer Alex’s Farmer Wants A Wife journey was one of the season’s most romantic.
After the speed dates, the Queensland mushroom and cattle farmer chose Eddy, Delia, Suzannah, Gabbie and Rachel to come back to the farm, sending Alicia, Ebony and Samara home.
From the start, Eddy looked like the woman to beat. Their golf-themed speed date clearly made an impression, and Alex later picked her for his 24-hour date, where he gave her a gold mother-of-pearl pendant before the pair shared a kiss.
But their fairytale start quickly hit a speed bump. At dinner, Eddy said grace, which threw Alex off completely, as he admitted he wasn’t sure he could have a long-term relationship with someone religious. Eddy later clarified that she isn’t devout, but does believe there is “something” out there and would want her children christened, though not necessarily raised in a strictly religious household.
Meanwhile, Delia dropped out of the race, as she struggled with the competitive format and chose to leave the farm, telling Alex she didn’t want to force a connection.
With Eddy still the clear frontrunner, Suzannah has emerged as one to watch after their strong early spark. Suzannah made a strong first impression in the premiere. Alex had said his perfect woman would have “pale skin and long dark hair”, then Suzannah walked in, matching that description perfectly.
Alex pulled Suzannah aside at the Country Ball, where they bonded over books, and he said they shared similarities he didn’t have with Eddy. Then in episode five, he took Suzannah on a solo waterfall date where they kissed, and he said he could see “the potential for feelings to grow for Suzannah”.
But as the weeks went on, it became clear that Alex only had eyes for Eddy. Alex took Eddy into a romantic forest setup after sending her a handwritten note, then told her he loved her and they left the show together before the FWAW finale.
Spoiler: Who does Farmer Alex pick as his winner on Farmer Wants A Wife?
While the promo for the FWAW episode that aired on July 5 teased that Farmer Alex was torn between Rachel and Eddy, it appears someone working on Channel 9’s TV guide may have made a major slip-up, with the blurb for Sunday night’s episode seemingly revealing who wins Farmer Alex’s heart.
“As farmers head on dates, Alex seeks his parents’ advice and makes a tough call, letting Rachel go for Eddie. Later, families arrive to choose one lady for a final solo date,” the description reads.

While the spoiler may be spicy, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to viewers, as Farmer Alex made it very clear all season that Eddy is his frontrunner. Throughout his dates, he has been constantly comparing all his Ladies to her and some suss social media activity, seemed to suggest Alex picks Eddy in the finale, before the TV guide spoiler dropped.
One big clue is that Alex is already following Will Fry on Instagram. Ring any bells?

In an Instagram post on Eddy’s page, she has a tagged photo of Will, captioned “Just a coupla french fries #frysiblings,” which confirms that Will is Eddy’s brother.
This could suggest that Alex has become close with Eddy’s sibling while they’ve been dating post-finale. Add to that, Will follows Alex back in return. BFFs! This revelation follows Alex being quite vocal on the show about how the other women’s dates don’t quite compare to his undeniable connection to Eddy.
In interviews, Alex hasn’t exactly been discreet about how he fell hard for Eddy, admitting that he always knew he would pick her for his first date. “When I picked, there was no question in my mind that I was choosing Eddy for that 24-hour date,” he told Marie Claire. “I was really happy with the five ladies I took back to the farm, but Eddy was the clear frontrunner.”
In an interview with Chattr, Alex spoke further about their instant spark. “I was a bit shocked by the decision that I made, because Eddy didn’t actually represent the things that I originally went onto the show looking for,” he said about picking her for the first date. “She just wowed me [in] that very small amount of time that we had together, and so I maybe [chose her] a little bit on impulse.”
Farmer Wants A Wife airs at 7pm on Mondays and 7:30pm on Tuesdays on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.
