Delia left Farmer Alex speechless after she pulled him aside just before the elimination in Episode 3 of Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW) and told him that she’d chosen to leave the Farm.
“Sorry to pull you for a chat so quickly doing this, but just not feeling myself. Like, this is not me. I don’t know that I’m going to be able to shift that thinking, so that way I thought maybe I could lighten your load, and I could just put my hands up, and go home. Really, sorry,” Delia told Farmer Alex in the episode.
Now, in an interview with Chattr, Farmer Alex has shed some more light on exactly why Delia wanted to leave the farm and self-eliminate from the competition.
“Delia walking out, I think, was the only way that that was going to end for her. She wasn’t able to keep it together on the show,” he said.
Farmer Alex explained that Delia struggled with the production side of it, and having to be filmed constantly, which played a big part in her deciding to leave.
“I think it became all a bit too much for her. She even said to me, she’s like, ‘I can’t be myself, so I’m not going to be able to date you honestly, because I’m not giving you my real self,'” he said.
“So, yeah, her leaving it made the first farewell easier, because the decision was made for me, but yeah, there’s no other way that could have gone.”

Do the Farmers feel rejected when their Ladies self-eliminate?
Alex isn’t the only Farmer to have one of his Ladies self-eliminate on FWAW 2026. While Jessie was picked to come back to Farmer Jason’s farm, she decided it wasn’t for her after making it all the way to his town.
And, it looks as though Farmer Jason will receive a double blow of rejection, with Jessica expressing her frustration at the end of the episode that he decided not to eliminate anyone, and storming out of dinner. Jessica is later recorded behind a closed door with her mic still on, and she can be heard saying that she’s “just gonna go”.
So, does it hurt the Farmer’s feelings when the women they chose to come back to their farms don’t want to be there?
“It’s a weight off your shoulders because you don’t have to make that hard call, but at the same time, it does hurt in some ways, because you think, could I have done better? Yeah, is there something wrong with me, but at the same time, if you’re not, if you’re not feeling it, you’re not feeling it, and I completely understand that,” Farmer Dylan shared.
Farmer Jarrad agreed, adding that dealing with rejection is something the eliminated women had to deal with as well.
“We knew what we were getting into, and I think it’s just as hard for the girls as well. Getting rejected is never nice, and so I think as long as it’s done in a respectful way, and I think, from my perspective, if someone didn’t want to be on the farm, then yeah, I think I actually appreciate people being honest in that situation,” he told Chattr.
“If there is a girl that does want to be there and wants to be with you, it’d be a shame for them to be sent home if there’s someone there that doesn’t want to be there. So, yeah, I think you could look at it both ways, but I think, if someone doesn’t want to be there, I think it’s good that they actually put their hand up and say, it’s time for me to go. I think that’s fine.”
Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW) airs Sunday — Tuesday on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
