Farmer Alex’s journey came to an end on Sunday night’s Farmer Wants A Wife (FWAW) when he sent Rachel home before professing his love for Eddy.

Despite planning a date with Rachel, he pulled her aside to tell her his true feelings: “My connection with Ed is just so great that I don’t think I see a future with you.”

Alex then took Eddy away to a magical forestscape to tell her: “Your wit, your beauty, your radiance… I’ve fallen in love with you, Ed.” Eddy shared she was “falling in love” with him too, and they left the show together (but have since split up).

But what about the FWAW contestant caught up in this love story who, perhaps… didn’t want to be involved at all? Alex’s top two finalist, Rachel, has spoken out about her version of the events.

Apparently, Rachel was never all that into Alex, and she just wishes he had sent her home sooner.

“Honestly, I felt relieved,” she told TV WEEK. “I knew there wasn’t anything on my end, and I was just happy for Eddy.”

Rachel did say she was left ‘heartbroken’ but not for the reason you’d expect. “I was heartbroken, I didn’t get a chance to say bye to Eddy. That’s what made me upset,” she shared. And that’s on girlhood!

But Rachel doesn’t hold any grudges against Alex. “I don’t blame him, really,” she said. “I still had a great time despite this. It was almost like third-wheeling some friends!”

That said, Rachel does have one regret about her time on Farmer Wants A Wife. “I do wish I had left earlier than I did,” she said. “I put a lot of my life on hold to go on the show, so it would have been nice to get back to that a bit sooner. But I still had so much fun on the farm with my friends, so it felt bittersweet.”

Rachel’s journey on Farmer Wants A Wife and finding love after the show

Aside from telling Alex she hated mushrooms on the premiere, Rachel’s storyline with Alex was basically just telling the farmer ‘you clearly only want Eddy’ over and over.

From the start, Alex was laser-focused on Eddy. Most recently, drama kicked off when Rachel found Eddy’s handwritten note to Alex while looking for paper to write a grocery list.

Rachel read it as a sign that Alex and Eddy were already a done deal, and she and Suzannah started questioning whether Alex was wasting their time. Rachel told Alex his focus on Eddy had been obvious for a while. “There’s a part of me that can’t stop thinking that your mind is already made up on Eddy,” she said.

Despite initially reassuring her he wasn’t ‘closed off’, Alex later admitted his connection with Eddy was stronger and he sent Rachel home, telling her “I don’t think I see a future with you.”

But good news! Rachel has found love after the show. “I met my partner at the start of this year and we have been inseparable ever since,” she said.

“He is the kindest, most supportive person I have ever met. Watching your partner on a dating reality TV show definitely isn’t for the weak, but he has been an absolute champion and is always my number one supporter. I couldn’t be more in love.” Love that for her!

Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW) airs Sundays at 7pm and Mondays at 7:30pm on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
