Mimi Wong is the vivacious, energetic and magnetic MasterChef Australia 2024 contestant who started off the competition as somewhat of a dark horse, but is now thriving in challenge after challenge.
Although Mimi wasn’t able to secure immunity during the show’s visit to her home city of Hong Kong, she’s undoubtedly a talented cooked, and she’s looking to lean on some of those talents to get her to the final.
Here’s everything we know about MasterChef Australia 2024’s Mimi.
Mimi on MasterChef. Ten.
Where is Mimi from?
She was born in Hong Kong but moved to Sydney when she was just one year old. At age 11, Mimi returned to Hong Kong for seven years, following her parent’s divorce.
During that time the MasterChef contestant and her brother lived in Hong Kong public housing in a small apartment with their grandma, who instilled in them the philosophies of being a nurturer, cook and caretaker. Mimi moved back to Sydney in 2016 for university.
Mimi told South China Morning Post that she still instils the Chinese traditions she learnt during her time in Hong Kong.
“It’s me and my brother in Australia, and everyone else is back in Hong Kong, so there had to be someone to take on that matriarch role of enforcing tradition on somebody else, like: ‘I don’t care what you’re doing, you just have to come to my house’. We have to eat nian gao [rice cake] on Chinese New Year, we have to make soup on this day,” she said.
“My brother wasn’t going to do it because he’s lazy,” she says with a chuckle. “So I was like, ‘I’m going to call mum or ah por and figure out how to do it’, so that there’s still reason and purpose, and something to keep the culture and family alive between my brother and I.”

What is Mimi’s job?
Mimi works as a high school English teacher.
How did Mimi end up on MasterChef Australia?
According to her interview with South China Morning Post, Mimi was scouted after a casting producer spotted her delectable looking food on Instagram.
Although Mimi filled out the application form, she didn’t save it and consequently lost it. On the last day of applications, her boss sent her home early and she submitted hers just 45 minutes before the deadline.
“I still think back to that time, and how surreal it all felt,” says Wong. “The students were so supportive, my colleagues were super excited. It gives me goosebumps.”

Poh Ling Yeow, Andy Allen, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Sofia Levin might have been in Hong Kong to judge the MasterChef Australia contestants, but they, unsurprisingly, managed to find some spare time to check out the city’s best restaurants.
From street fare to Michelin restaurants, the food connoisseurs practically conducted a food tour of Hong Kong’s most delicious eateries, which double as a where-to-eat guide for anyone heading to that side of the world.

Sofia Levin
“We had limited time between filming to eat, but man, did we make a go of it! We hit the ground running, ditching our bags at our hotel as soon as we landed and made a beeline for Kam’s Roast Goose,” Sofia told Broadsheet.
“I’m a huge fan of discovering places rather than following recommendations when I travel, and Hong Kong is incredibly accessible in this regard. There seem to be very few bad choices to be had. Moreover, when food is cheap, your palate is willing to be more adventurous and forgiving,” the MasterChef contestant turned judge told the publication.
Jean-Christophe Novelli
“The food scene in Hong Kong is explosive, super interesting, and fascinating. The first place I visited in the middle of nowhere (just by luck) was the spacious Lei Garden Restaurant where I sat beside a massive seafood freshwater tank with live seafood,” the French chef told the publication.
“Wing Fat – The moment we got there we saw a huge line and loads of people sitting on plastic chairs out the front – it was absolute mayhem. We waited in the line for about 15 minutes before we got a table and ordered three Tsingtao longnecks stat,” he told Broadsheet.
“We ate steamed pippies in black pepper sauce, claypot-braised eggplant, and a chilli crab. It was full local style, hustle bustle, and our waiter was pumped with energy. They were turning over tables a million miles an hour. Good vibes, epic food, a must-do when you go.”

Sunrise host Nat Barr has shocked viewers by sharing her recent skin cancer diagnosis.
Fortunately, it was caught earlier and the TV presenter caught the condition “really early”, and is able to treat it.
“I had a pimple on my nose that wouldn’t go away, plus I reckon it had been a couple of years since I had a skin check, so I went the dermatologist,” Nat said onSunrise.
“He said it was skin cancer — this tiny little dot on my nose. The good thing is I got it really early, and there’s not much treatment,” she added.
“After a biopsy was taken, it did confirm that I had a small skin cancer. The good news, it could be treated non-surgically.”
Nat at the doctor. Seven.
Nat shared her story in the hope it would encourage viewers to get their skin checked regularly
Nat told her co-host Matt Shirvington that she hoped her story would work as a reminder for viewers to be diligent with their skin checks.
“You sort of go ‘Oh my god’. So many Aussies, millions, and millions of us have skin cancer, but it does make you think,” she said.
How Nat was diagnosed
Nat explained to Matt that she was diagnosed with skin cancer through AI technology. She said that the machine was able to pick up the small cancerous cells.
“That was so tiny, it was just a tiny little red thing. He also takes photos of your whole body and puts it in the AI machine,” Barr said.
“So, when you go back a year later, the AI machine can detect whether there has been a change quicker and better than the human eye can.”
After the AI machine identified the cancer, Nat underwent a diagnosis She was later diagnosed with skin cancer following a biopsy.
Farmer Wants a Wife’s golden couple Jess Nathan and Andrew Guthrie have shared a bunch of gorgeous photos from their recent wedding.
The pair met on FWAW in 2017 and got hitched in March 2024. Their wedding was televised during the 2024 finale.
For the past few months, followers have been begging the pair to share pics from the wedding, and that wish has now been fulfilled, as Jess and Andrew have dropped 18 photos from their nuptials.
There’s no debating that Jess’s wedding dress was absolutely stunning, and we know exactly where you can find it!
Weeks before her wedding Jess shared a photo of her wearing white and holding a bridal dress concealed in a bag.
“Not long now until I wear the dress of my dreams and marry the man of my dreams 🤍 @janehillbridal I cannot thank you enough. Best in the business 🫶,” she captioned the pic.
Andrew and Jess’s FWAW journey
Andrew and Jess met on season 11 of Farmer Wants a Wife. In the finale, Andrew professed his love to Jess, however, the couple later revealed that they tried to leave the show early.
“Andrew knew he was going to pick me, so we went to the producers and told them we’d fallen in love and wanted to leave, but they said no,” Jess said in an interview with Confidential.
She added that producers tried to downplay the intensity of their relationship so that the ending wouldn’t be spoiled for viewers.
“They would make sure the other girls won challenges. Whenever I was with Andrew, they only let me talk about why I wouldn’t move to the farm straight away.”
“We had a solid love story and they have spun it the other way,” Andrew added.
Kylie Jenner is keeping up with the haters and getting real about the impact of their words. In the latest episode of “The Kardashians,” the 26-year-old makeup mogul opened up to her sister Kendall Jenner about the backlash and hurtful comments she’s faced over her appearance and plastic surgery over the years.
Kylie Jenner breaks down over criticism of her appearance – 🎥 Entertainment Tonight
“It’s like a miracle that I still have confidence and I can still look in the mirror and think that I am pretty,” Kylie admitted during their candid chat. Despite her success and fame, the negative comments have taken a toll on her self-esteem.
Kylie specifically talked about her experience at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023. For the first time, she decided to go for a more natural look, wearing minimal makeup. However, this decision didn’t shield her from criticism. “I’m wearing too much makeup and it’s like, ‘You’re wearing too much makeup.’ Then I go and I don’t wear a lot of makeup, and someone catches me in a weird light,” she complained.

Reflecting on her past, Kylie pointed out, “You can look at pictures since I’m 13 — I just have these lines,” she said, pointing to her cheeks. “But I’ve had them since I was like, a child.”
In a confessional, Kylie shared that the relentless scrutiny has been exhausting. “I just hear nasty things about myself all the time,” she revealed. “After 10-plus years in the spotlight, it just gets exhausting.”

Kylie and Kendall delved deeper into the harsh treatment their family endures. “I think that’s a general thing with our family,” Kendall noted. “We’re dehumanised. They don’t think that there’s any rules with us. Whereas like, if you talked the same way you do about us about any other woman, people would come to their defence all day long. But for some reason with us, it’s like they don’t think we have any feelings.”
Despite her efforts to adopt a more natural look, Kylie confessed that the trolling continued. “I went on a journey last year dissolving half of my lip filler,” she admitted. “I hate even having this conversation over and over and over again. It feels like it’s a waste of my breath because I think, with me, it is never going to change.”
As the conversation got more emotional, Kylie began to cry. “I’ve never cried about this before, but I guess it does affect me,” she said, likening the chat to therapy. She mentioned seeing both supportive and harsh comments online, with some people defending her and others claiming she “f—ked up her face” with “so much surgery.”
Kendall quickly reassured her sister, saying, “I’m not even just saying this, you’ve never looked younger, and you’ve never looked better.” However, she acknowledged the ongoing battle against public perception, admitting, “I think it’s sadly — sadly — it’s something that we just have to like, really grow tough skin on.”
Despite the criticism, Kylie is determined to stay resilient and continue focusing on her life and career – 🎥 Entertainment Tonight
Kylie later reiterated to the cameras that she remains “strong” and “confident,” but emphasized that she’s also human and can only take so much. “I always keep it pushing,” she said. “I have to. I cannot let the comments get me down. I have s—t to do. Rise above.”
The Kardashians Season 5 streaming exclusively on Disney+, with a new episode drop every Thursday.

Sam Pang at The Logies. YouTube.
It was announced on June 16 that the comedian had nabbed the role once again, which will see him front Australian TV’s night of nights.
“Hosting the Logies last year was an amazing experience and I’m thrilled to return in 2024,” Sam said in a press release.
“Adding to the excitement Seven have also given me the greenlight to try new things this year so I’m really looking forward to displaying my underappreciated and severely undeveloped song and dance skills.”
The 2024 Logie Awards will feature a number of key changes
The 2024 Logie Awards will not only feature Sam Pang, but several key changes to award categories and the judging process.
This year, three awards will be presented as “Most Popular”. Nominees in these categories will be decided by a panel of independant industry experts before going to a public vote.
These awards are the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television, the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter and the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.
The 64th TV Week Logie Awards will air on Channel Seven and 7plus on Sunday 18 August.
Robert Irwin is one of the youngest celebrities ever to be nominated for a Gold Logie.
While Robert’s been a well-known name for, well, pretty much all of his life, he really made his mark on the entertainment scene after stepping into Dr Chris Brown’s shoes as a host of I’m A Celebrity Australia in 2024, alongside Julia Morris.
Now, he’s been announced as a Gold Logie nominee at the 64th TV Week Logie Awards and is up against some other huge names in the industry.
Robert Irwin’s journey to becoming a Gold Logie nominee
Prior to stepping into the host role of I’m A Celebrity Australia, Robert has made appearances on a bunch of TV shows.
His first was way back in 2007 in Bindi the Jungle Girl as himself. In 2017 he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and that same year his family released the TV show Crikey! It’s the Irwins.
He’s also been on episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show, RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Underand Have You Been Paying Attention?
Robert Irwin and Julia Morris on I’m A Celebrity Australia. Ten.
“It is such an honour to be recognised amongst some of the best of the best in Australian entertainment. It means a lot for me and the message that is so intrinsic to what I do,” he told the publication.
“I’ve been so humbled by the incredibly positive response to this season of I’m a Celebrity,” he added. “I hoped to bring a little bit of my passion for wildlife and conservation to this season, and it was so meaningful to hear how much audiences enjoyed that. Hopefully, we could create not only some hilarious moments but also showcase the beauty of the African wildlife.”
Who else is nominated for a Gold Logie?
Robert’s got some stiff competition for the 2024 Gold Logie. His fellow nominations include:
Entertainer and broadcaster, Andy Lee. Actress, Asher Keddie. Presenter and comedian, Julia Morris. Entertainer and Presenter, Larry Emdur. Entertainer and presenter, Sonia Kruger. Presenter and broadcaster, Tony Armstrong.
The 64th TV Week Logie Awards will air on Channel Seven and 7plus on Sunday 18 August.
Netflix’s Perfect Match season two is trashy in the best way possible, but did any of the messy couples manage to find true and lasting love?
Well, for starters, we know that not a single one of the contestants finished the show with their first pick. However, five couples left the show in, erm, (ever-so-slightly) promising relationships.
The finale episode – which saw newly coupled pair Christine and Nigel take out the win – included a short reunion of sorts, which was filmed after the couples left the house.
However, that episode was filmed about a year prior to it’s debut on Netflix. So, understandably fans are wondering if any of the contestants lasted the distance. Spoiler alert; it’s grim.
Christine and Nigel
Christine and Nigel on Perfect Match. Netflix.
Although they were only coupled up for a day, Christine and Nigel were voted by their fellow contestants as a Perfect Match, and were sent to Thailand on a couples holiday.
While their romantic getaway appeared to go well, PEOPLE have since confirmed that the couple has split.
Harry and Jess
Harry and Jess on Perfect Match. Netflix.
Harry and Jess were one of the strongest couples in the villa until Harry cheated on Jess with Melinda in episode eight.
Harry and Jess broke up after Melinda exposed his ways. However, they got back together after the finale was filmed.
Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, because the couple have since ended things for good.
“I felt like he really did want to change. I feel like he really had, I guess for lack of a better term, learned his lesson and he wanted something real,” Jess told PEOPLE. “It did not turn out how we thought it would, and there was a lot of promises and commitments that weren’t upheld, but I gave him the kind of grace that I would’ve wanted someone to give to me.”
Micah and Kaz
Micah and Kaz on Perfect Match. Netflix.
Like Jess and Harry, Micah and Kaz were a strong couple until… they weren’t.
Kaz blindsided Micah but coupling up with Christine, before later changing his mind and getting back together with her.
The couple broke up after the finale was filmed.
“I think a rollercoaster is a really good way to describe Kaz,” Micah told PEOPLE. “There was definitely a lot of moments that were probably seen that made it seem like there wasn’t much substance. But behind closed doors, there was an actual, real relationship.
“There were many, many great memories that we share that I’m happy, and I do not regret. I just don’t think that we were the right people for each other, and I don’t think that he was in a space to be someone that I could have something real with. So, just not the right time.”
Alara and Stevan
Alara and Stevan on Perfect Match. Netflix.
Alara and Stevan were fan favourites and linked up towards the start of the season. Neither side was swayed as numerous couples entered the villa, and fans were left solely disappointed when they didn’t win.
While the couple appeared steadfast on the show, they didn’t make it in the real world.
Chris and Tolu
Tolu and Chris on Perfect Match. Netflix.
Chris and Tolu found their way to one another mid-way through the season, but things are certainly soured since filming wrapped.
The two aren’t together, and Tolu has been flaming Chris on social media, after he posted a video of them together.
“I was being cordial and took a video with you, not knowing that you intended to use it for clout and click bait. Grow tf up and do better!!” She commented.
Elys and Bryton
Elys and Bryton on Perfect Match. Netflix.
Elys was originally matched with Harry, before pairing up with Justin for most of the season. However, towards the end, she decided to ditch Justin and couple up with Bryton.
MasterChef Australia 2024‘s Poh Ling Yeow has come a long way since being a contestant in the first Australian season of the series fifteen years ago.
The popular contestant — who has appeared in two seasons — is now a Judge alongside Andy Allen, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Sofia Levin, in an iteration touted as “unlike any other“.
While an honour in itself, the 50-year-old admitted she had come “full circle” given that she finally got to experience something she missed out on all those years ago.
During her first season, Poh was eliminated during a Taste Test; however, returned to the show a few weeks later. Unfortunately for her, during the two weeks she was gone, the rest of the cast had headed to Hong Kong to participate in a series of cooking challenges.
Now, in an interview with Chattr before the 2024 season premiere, Poh revealed her delight in being able to join the MasterChef crew in Hong Kong earlier this year.
The MasterChef 2024 judges in Hong Kong. Ten.
“That’s another little full circle moment for me,” she said. “Because I actually got eliminated before we went to Hong Kong in season one and then I came back as a wildcard.”
“I was really thrilled. It was amazing – we ate our heads off,” she laughed about her time in the bustling city in 2024. “There’s almost no bad food to be had. Even when something is not great, it’s still really good.”
Poh explains why “this is a season unlike any other”
Given this season of MasterChef Australia 2024 is unlike anything we’ve seen, Poh puts that down to several things.
“It’s inherent in the fact that there’s three new judges,” she explained. “We’re bringing a very different culture to the show, by way of our personalities.”
The MasterChef Australia 2024 cast. Ten.
Poh added that the contestants cast this year also play into why she expects this season to be so successful.
“I feel like it’s also related to the crop of contestants that we have this year. I feel so grateful that it’s them because I felt supported by them as much as I supported them.”
“It’s just a mood,” she added. “I feel like it’s very positive.”
Further to this, the season will also return to its much-loved roots.
“We are back to home cooking,” she said. “I feel like we’re not doing too much fancy pants cooking.”
“The Pressure Tests always deliver that, because you need that drama. But apart from that, I feel like we’ve really pulled back into more regular home cooking that people can relate to, which is something that’s really important to me.”
“That’s how we started and I feel like that’s where we should stay because we need people to be able to relate to the food,” she said.
About Poh Ling Yeow
As runner-up in the first-ever season of MasterChef Australia, Poh is proof that you don’t need to win, to win!
By her own acknowledgement, there is a part of Poh that will always belong on the contestant side – making her the perfect mentor and guide for this year’s budding home cooks.
The remaining MasterChef Australia 2024 contestants touched down in Hong Kong for a week of cooking challenges during Sunday night’s episode, however, Sav was noticeably missing.
The top seven contestants are Harry, Nat, Josh Pezza, Darrsh, Mimi, Lachlan and, of course, Sav.
After boarding a business-class flight to the bustling Chinese city, the other six contestants excitedly met up with judges Andy Allen, Jean-Christophe Novelli, Sofia Levin and Poh Ling Yeow, who informed them that Sav wouldn’t be a part of the week.
The MasterChef judges. Ten.
Why isn’t Sav in Hong Kong?
After welcoming the other six contestants to Hong Kong, Andy vaguely addressed Sav’s absence.
“Look guys, unfortunately for some personal reasons, Sav won’t be able to join us this week. But, we’ll be seeing her when we get back to the MasterChef kitchen,” he said.
The remaining MasterChef contestants sans Sav. Ten.
Twitter users speculate about Sav’s absence
Sav has stayed quiet on social media about why she wasn’t in Hong Kong, however, Twitter users have thrown around some possible scenarios about why she didn’t make the trip.
“It’s possible that Sav is an Australian permanent resident who still holds a Sri Lankan passport, in which case her “personal reasons” could be a lack of passport privilege. The visa process for Sri Lankan citizens to visit Hong Kong is complicated and expensive,” one person wrote.
Another Tweeted: “I hope all is ok with Sav. I assume she’ll be in the first elimination back in Australia.”

Over on Instagram, fans were also sharing their sadness that Sav won’t be part of this week.
“I’m so panicked rn I can’t see saw in any of the Hongkong Trailers,” one person wrote.

On Tuesday, the cooks will see how the local legends do it, experiencing the hustle and bustle of authentic dai pai dongs, or open-air street vendors, as they cook in teams for crowds of discerning diners on Stanley Street, Central.
Our top seven will then round out the week back in the MasterChef Australia kitchen with a Hong Kong-inspired lucky dip challenge with the best dish winning its maker immunity from Sunday’s elimination challenge.

If Nicole Kidman ever decides to cast her own biopic, she won’t need to search far. At the recent 49th AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, her close friend and Big Little Lies co-star, delivered a flawless impersonation of the acclaimed actress.
“Most actors wait by a phone to be chosen by a director,” Witherspoon quipped during her speech. “But as an actor, Nicole has always been proactive. Even in her earliest work, she picks her directors.” She hilariously switched from her southern U.S. accent to an impeccable Australian impression, recounting Kidman’s enthusiastic discussions about directors. Witherspoon’s playful mimicry and heartfelt anecdotes earned laughs and admiration, even from Kidman herself.

“And she’s like, ‘But do you see that director?’” said Witherspoon. “‘I mean, it’s incredible. Reese, we must get her. We must!’”
When speaking on how the partnership on Big Little Lies was born Witherspoon shares “Because there’s one thing Nicole knows very very well, that there’s power in collaboration, and there’s even more power in sisterhood”

The star-studded event featured tributes from fellow Australians Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, and Cate Blanchett, as well as a tear-jerking speech from Kidman’s husband, Keith Urban (Pass the Kleenex!)
Urban shared a moving story about their early marriage struggles and Kidman’s unwavering support during his rehab stint.

“We got married in June 2006 and barely four months into our marriage, my addictions that I had done really nothing about blew our marriage to smithereens and I went into the Betty Ford centre for three months,” Urban began. “Four months into a marriage, and I’m in rehab for three months with no idea what was going to happen to us.”
“If you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl,” he continued.
“Nic pushed through every negative voice — I’m sure even some of her own — and she chose love. And here we are tonight 18 years later.”

The couple, who share teen daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, met in January 2005 during an event where Urban got her phone number on a “tiny piece of paper” that he said he carried “in my pocket for well over a week.”

“The thing about Nic — she loves life,” Urban added. “I’ve actually never met anyone who has such a passion for being alive. She knows the importance of expressing feelings as well. I wasn’t raised like this at all so our girls are very lucky to be learning from you, baby. I’m learning too.”
But it didn’t stop there. Viewers may also have been surprised to see younger actors thanking the Aussie Oscar winner for the boost she gave their fledgling careers.
“What most people don’t know is that when I was making those films, I watched ‘Moulin Rouge’ religiously,” said Zac Efron.
“I must have seen the film over a hundred times, because it’s there that I found inspiration, and it was there that I found Nicole Kidman.”
In the crime drama The Paperboy, Efron plays a character who obsessively pursues the older Kidman. The two share a sex scene, and other scenes that are even more strangely intimate.
“It was terrifying, and it was thrilling,” Efron said. “And as my character and I were looking for guidance, there she was.”
He concluded, “Nicole, thank you so much. On behalf of the teenager who was so inspired by you on screen, and the man who stands here today proud to be one of your many collaborators, congratulations.”
The tribute gave Kidman a chance to reflect on the nearly 100 films and TV shows she has appeared in, as she stood on the stage where she won her Oscar for playing Virginia Woolf in “The Hours” in 2003.
She thanked by name every director she has worked with, including Gus Van Sant (To Die For), Jane Campion (Portrait of a Lady), Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge), Sofia Coppola (The Beguiled), Yorgos Lanthimos (The Killing of a Sacred Deer), Lars von Trier, (Dogville), Sydney Pollack (The Interpreter) and Stanley Kubrick (Eyes Wide Shut). She teared up when talking about the last two, each of whom died not long after making their final film with her.
Speaking before entering the ceremony, Kidman said the award is a payoff for some of the risks she took in her career.
“I’ve made so many risky films to the point where people go, ‘you’re actually going to do that movie?’ and I’m like ‘yeah I am,'” she said.
Starting her career at just 14, Kidman marvelled at the opportunities she’s had to work with talented individuals and play diverse characters. “It is a privilege to make films and glorious to make films and television with the storytellers who allowed me to just run wild,” she said.
“This 14-year-old girl could have never predicted all the talented people she would get to work with and the many different characters she would get to play 😱. So excited to celebrate with so many friends and peers on Saturday with the @AmericanFilmInstitute xx,” she wrote in the caption.
The evening celebrated Kidman’s illustrious career and her contributions to cinema, making her the eleventh woman and only Australian to receive the prestigious AFI Life Achievement Award. Meryl Streep, a former winner and Kidman’s co-star, presented the award, attributing Kidman’s career to her deep love for acting.

“People call it bravery when an actress bares all and leaps off into the unknown and she dives deep into the darker parts of what it is to be a human being. But I don’t think it’s bravery. I think it’s love. I think she just loves it.” Streep said bringing Kidman to tears.
“There’s an enormous amount of luck in my life. But there’s also the most important thing – love. Big, big love. And then, right there, is the love of my life and the loves of my life,” she said as she pointed to her family.
The AFI Life Achievement award “celebrates an individual whose career in motion pictures or television has greatly contributed to the enrichment of American culture,” according to the American Film Institute.

Home and Away fans think the infamous River Boys storyline is making a comeback following a recent cast announcement.
ICYMI: Aussie actor Joshua Orpin, known for playing Superboy in the DC series Titans, was announced as Summer Bay’s newest “bad boy” back in March.
While Orpin is set to debut on the long-running soap in the final week of June, little is known about his character.
Joshua Oprin. Netflix.
However, fans seem to think Orpin is connected to the Bay’s notorious gang the River Boys.
According to the Back to the Bayblog, the incoming character’s promo pic is verrrrry similar to that of Patrick O’Connor‘s character Dean Thomas’, who was the gang’s former leader.
Not only is the photo seemingly taken in the same place, but the two men wear similar outfits of a black, sleeveless top while flexing their muscles.
More Home and Away fans chat River Boys resurgence on Facebook
According to Yahoo Lifestyle, a bunch of Home and Away die-hards took to a popular Facebook group to share their thoughts on Orpin’s connection to O’Connor’s character.
“I miss the River Boy action! I need my hotties backs,” one fan penned, while another added that the show “need[s] more River Boys”.
Patrick O’Connor and Orpin. Seven.
“As soon as I saw the big scuffle and police at the end tonight, I immediately thought RIVER BOYS,” a third wrote in response to the June 20 episode.
“Maybe another Braxton Brother haha,” a fourth said.
“We shall see — funny though he could have passed for Mali’s brother.”
Joshua Orpin says Home and Away character has “depth”
After he was announced as a future cast member, Orpin told The Daily Telegraph that his lips were sealed on details about his role.
“I can say he is a bit of a bad boy who comes into the show and stirs up some trouble among the Summer Bay locals,” he admitted.
“He is seemingly one thing on the surface but he has a great depth to him that I’ve had a lot of fun exploring.”
Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has rubbished rumours that four spicy sex scenes were axed from Season Three.
Given Coughlan and her co-lead Luke Newton seemed to imply that the latest instalment of the hit Regency series would be the sauciest yet, fans couldn’t help but feel a tad short-changed when it didn’t ring true.
As such, viewers suspected some scenes must have been axed from the final cut of Bridgerton.

Rumours then heated upon when one Reddit user claimed this to be true, alleging they’d noticed four NSFW scenes that were MIA, in contrast to the preview they were given of Season Three.
What scenes were allegedly deleted from Bridgerton Season Three?
As shared on TikTok, the Redditor said “angry sex/broken furniture” ensued in one nixed scene after Colin Bridgerton found Penelope Featherington outside the modiste.
Another included the pair “laying in bed together talking about publishing Colin‘s manuscripts”.
“Colin whispering sweet nothings to Pen in front of the mirror,” the Redditor noted of the third missing moment. They also added that there was originally a “long sex montage” in episode eight.
Married At First Sight star Melissa Rawson shared a cautionary tale from her belated honeymoon with husband Bryce Ruthven in Thailand.
Posting to her blog Her Second Shift, she revealed the pair’s romantic getaway in May took a dramatic turn when cash and jewellery were stolen during a late-night visit to a massage parlour.
MAFS alum Melissa Rawthson revealed she and her husband Bryce Rawson were robbed on their honeymoon. Instagram
A night of relaxation gone wrong
Melissa explained that she and Bryce decided to unwind with a massage on the Thai island of Koh Samui.
“I had also just stopped at an ATM on the way back to the hotel and had withdrawn all our money on our card for the next day’s activities, so I was ready to spend,” Liss wrote.
The couple had to pay upfront and were taken to separate rooms for their massages. Reflecting on the night, Melissa realised there were several “red flags” she overlooked in her holiday mode.
During her massage, the masseuse moved Melissa’s belongings, including her bag, to the head of the table.
“I thought nothing of it. It was closer to me at least,” she detailed. However, after the massage, when Melissa went to pay for a cocktail on their way back to the hotel, she discovered her bag was empty.
“No cash or jewellery. My Francesca necklace that I had had for one week. Gone. (#gifted… but still, very sad),” she wrote. “And as I had just withdrawn all the money from the travel card (our credit cards were in the hotel room safe), we were skint.”
A lesson learned
Melissa admitted she was “mentally kicking [herself] for being so naïve” and offered some travel advice to her readers:
“Don’t go for a massage off the main street or while heavily intoxicated. Don’t give cash before a service or purchase (or your passport – for anything!). Always keep spare cash in the hotel safe. Try not to separate from your partner or friend/s – unless you know it’s safe to do so.”

Their honeymoon wasn’t exactly smooth sailing from the start.
Melissa described their flight from Melbourne to Bangkok as “a flight from hell,” recalling how they flew into an electrical storm.
“The plane was hit by strong wind and rain as we descended beneath the clouds. Then, it suddenly jolted and dropped violently,” she wrote. “It was only 10 or so seconds of turbulence, but I was genuinely terrified.”
It took three attempts before the plane safely landed, causing the couple to miss their connecting flight to Koh Samui.
“Passengers became unruly, shouting out to staff for information as we sat stranded,” Melissa recalled. “There was minimal communication from the pilot and no one was offered food or water during this excessive delay. When we eventually took off, most on the plane cheered.”
Despite the ordeal, Melissa confidently said that it was a “wonderful” holiday and she is “eagerly planning another trip back”.
The news was also shared on the official The Wiggles Instagram page.
“The Wiggles family is about to get a little bigger!” the account shared with its 267,000 followers.

Casting for the twelfth season of Married At First Sight is in full swing, and a production insider has spilled the beans on how to make sure you get noticed by the producers.
If you’re dreaming of walking down the aisle on national TV, listen up because these tips might just be your golden ticket!
Do you want to be on Married At First Sight? Nine
It’s all about the backstory
According to a production insider who spoke to Yahoo! Lifestyle, having a unique backstory is essential. Producers are on the hunt for those quirky details that make you stand out.
“A middle-aged man just isn’t enough. Make sure producers know you have been married three times and you have a weakness for women or men with bucked teeth,” the source shared.
“Find three character touch points and stay within that narrative. Something that makes you memorable to Channel Nine viewers.”
Catchphrases and quirky jobs
To make it onto the show, you need to be easily understood by the audience. The insider revealed that having a catchy phrase that sums up your personality is a big plus.
“Flip your boring job so it stands out. There are a hundred tradies who apply but find something that makes that interesting and unique. Like, be a ‘tradie who wears pink shorts’. It’s not hard to twist something simple like that,” they added.

Talking in sound bites
It’s not just what you say, but how you say it that counts. The insider emphasised the importance of speaking in a way that’s easy to edit.
“Make sure you are talking in melody and in short sharp sentences. They are looking for people who talk in sound bites naturally as it helps with the edit,” they detailed.
“If you’re telling a story that has three parts just pick the headline and finish with a punchline.”
Embrace your perceived edit
Once you’re on the show, the key is to roll with how you’re portrayed.
“If you think you’re being portrayed as the villain, make sure you are a PG villain and not something that will get you fired or make you unemployable,” the insider remarked.
“Play the long game – not all participants will be able to quit their careers and live off social media endorsements.”
Participants are also encouraged to follow orders and take on secret missions to spice things up.
“You might be quieter by nature but make sure you prove that you are invaluable to producers to make their jobs easier. Not everyone needs to be an alpha on screen.”
So there you have it, aspiring MAFS stars! Take these tips to heart and you might just find yourself saying “I do” in front of millions of viewers.
Married At First Sight season 12 is expected to premiere in January 2025, with experts John Aiken, Mel Schilling, and Alessandra Rampolla set to return.
