Adam and Jolene have taken out another victory on The Block 2026, narrowly beating Courtney and Sev during Sunday night’s Outdoor Terrace and Pool Week reveals.
The pair finished with 29 out of 30 points after playing their secret gnome, which helped them surpass Courtney and Sev, who finished second with 28.25 points.
It was a challenging week for the contestants, who moved outdoors to tackle their terraces, swimming pools and entertaining areas. With budgets running dangerously low, several teams were concerned about finishing their spaces. However, Scott Cam came to the rescue with a much-needed $50,000 cash injection for each team to help complete their landscaping.
The results were particularly disappointing for Courtney and Sev, who had dominated the previous week’s judging with a perfect 30 points, only to be beaten this time around by a pesky gnome.
Chantel and Wyatt secured third place with 25.5 points, followed by Lisa and Rosco on 22. Sadly, Rick and Tayla finished at the bottom of the leaderboard (again!) with 21.5 points.
But according to interior designer Chris Carroll of TLC Interiors, Rick and Tayla were robbed, admitting to Chattr that the judges should have looked beyond their design.
“Courtney and Sev delivered the best space of the week by far, but when Rick and Tayla finish their outdoor area, it will be a winning zone for sure… they’re onto an epic outdoor area,” Chris told Chattr.
“There was such a great use of texture, plenty of dining space for guests, and then a pool zone that worked for lounging around. The best part: the stairs leading down to the pool. Once completed, it’s going to be a game changer for them.”
The interior designer couldn’t say the same for Chantel and Wyatt’s design, which he said was “by far the worst” of the bunch. “Their upstairs alfresco had nothing more than a dining table in it. And now, the lower terrace seats four people with a small kitchenette. For a home of this size and at that price point, it’s so underwhelming,” Chris shared.
“They really failed to sell the dream of outdoor entertaining to a potential buyer. Their terrace was designed like an inner-city apartment, not a multi-million dollar, double-storey home. Such a letdown.”
He echoed the judges’ sentiments about the team not including a barbecue in the area. “Chantel and Wyatt declaring that a barbecue could be wheeled into the lift and taken downstairs is laughable. Nobody is doing that, nor should they have to after dropping millions on a home,” Chris said.
“Both of their alfresco zones needed to have distinct purposes, and sadly — outside of sitting at a dining table — neither of them do.”
Interior designer doesn’t believe Jolene and Adam deserved to win on The Block
Chris did not agree with the judges placing Adam and Jolene so highly on the leaderboard.
“I’m surprised Adam and Jolene scored so high even without the bonus point. I don’t believe more design means better design. They threw everything at it this week. While some components worked, others felt too much,” he said.
Chris went on to take aim at everything from their sauna to the position of their stools. “The sauna on the deck was just ridiculous. It needed to go on the side of the home or somewhere more secluded, allowing the terrace to accommodate more than four people when dining. The outdoor bar was a nice idea, but the stools all face away from the pool, only seat five people, and make conversations hard given you’re all in a row.”
Meanwhile, Chris added that he found Lisa and Rosco’s design to be another letdown despite the team performing well in other spaces. “Lisa and Rosco had a huge fall from grace, which is sad because their interiors have been so successful,” he said.
“The terrace was, I hate to say it, woeful. It was too small, furnished in a style that didn’t match their interior choices, and the kitchenette looked rather cheap.”
Even so, Lisa and Rosco had something to celebrate: despite finishing fourth, the couple took home the $10,000 budgeting award.
