It must be a Wednesday because another cheating scandal has struck The Block. How fun!
What now?! At the end of Wednesday night’s episode, Rick went rogue and captured footage of a British Paints employee, Tim, seemingly painting a surface in Courtney and Sev’s house.
“He happened to notice that Tim is painting next door,” Tayla told the cameras.
“I noticed Tim had a paint roller — that’s not allowed on The Block,” Rick said in a confessional. “That is cheating,” declared Tayla. In a teaser for Sunday’s episode, Tayla is set to call a body corporate and confront Courtney and Sev about her ‘cheating’ claims.

Of course, the number one rule of The Block is that only team members are permitted to paint. So what actually happened here?
There is much more to this story. Chattr exclusively spoke to Courtney and Sev, who shared that what really happened in their ‘cheating scandal’ was completely different in real life.
Did Courtney and Sev cheat on The Block 2026?
Sev and Courtney told Chattr that Tim painting in their house was not cheating — British Paints were simply fixing a mistake made in Living, Dining and Alfresco Week.
“British Paints came through and helped us. They showed everyone how to spray the ceilings and they were also promoting a new product of theirs,” Sev told Chattr.
“It might have been just a defective paint drum… but basically, when we sprayed the ceiling, it left these big zebra lines all the way through the ceiling.”
This meant that British Paints returned to fix what they had done. The team believes that all the contestants — including Rick and Tayla — were aware of this arrangement.

“That was approved by Scotty Cam, and that was like our little deal… it was just really rich of them to start filming a situation all the contestants knew about,” Courtney added.
“They all knew the situation but Rick’s going around showing [a video] that ‘there’s a painter in your house’. We don’t actually care. We know the situation; we’re not stressed about it.”
Sev pointed out that in the previous week, she claimed Tayla had other tradespeople painting in her house while Rick was away. “The bottom line is she is a contestant. She still could have painted, and her sister or whoever subbed in at the time,” she said.
“It was a very pot calling the kettle black moment. The irony was pretty strong,” Sev continued.
“It was just so unfair and so shocking. I didn’t go around to every single house being like, just so you know, Tayla’s got six tradies in her house, plus two painters.” Ooft! Sunday should be interesting!
The Block airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
