Dave Hand is the first Married at First Sight (MAFS) Australia participant to make it into the Netflix reality universe, starring on Perfect Match Season 4, and he’s certainly made an impression so far.

Within hours of entering the Perfect Match villa, Dave made out with both Ally Lewber and Nat Cruz, before partnering up with Mackenzie Bellows. Then, when Sophie Willett entered in episode four, Dave quickly formed a strong connection with the former Love Is Blind villain, and the pair ultimately went on to win the season together.

Filming of Perfect Match took place in November 2025, so six months have passed since the final was filmed. Did Sophie and Dave’s relationship survive outside the villa? Read on to find out everything we know about Perfect Match‘s Sophie and Dave’s relationship status.

Are Perfect Match’s Sophie and Dave still together after the show?

Unfortunately for Dave and Sophie stans, the couple’s relationship didn’t last after the show. Dave told Chattr in a post-finale interview that he and Sophie spent a day together in Mexico post-finale but things started to fizzle out when they were apart.

“We never put a label on it. It’s a hard thing, because it’s like I’ve literally known this person for seven days. That’s the reality of it. I only knew Soph for seven or eight days, and then we won a show and parted ways,” he explained.

“Life just happens,” he added. “Me and her are close, we talk and everything’s good, but it was just a sort of thing, there’s a whole bloody ocean in between us.”

Dave and Sophie jetted off to the Maldives as their prize for winning Perfect Match Season 4 about a month after filming wrapped, but things were purely platonic on their getaway.

“When we got to the holiday — like we never really discussed anything beforehand — we sort of went on it,” he revealed. “We ended up obviously catching a flight together to the Maldives on a Seaplane, and we sort of sat down the first day, and I just voiced how I felt. I’m like, ‘Look, I don’t want to lead you on — not lead you on, but like, be intimate this trip, and then we’re just going to separate, and go our separate ways again after it. I feel like that we’re in a good position, I respect you as a friend and I’d love to keep that relationship as a friend and enjoy this trip together as friends.

“And she said, ‘I agree’, she goes, ‘I wasn’t sure what to say to have this conversation. I’m glad you brought it up on the first day.’” He added. “She agreed with everything I said. She thanked me for bringing it up.”

What’s happened between Dave Hand and Sophie Willett on Perfect Match Season 4?

Sophie was a latecomer and only arrived at the villa in episode 4 after she was picked in the boardroom by challenge winners Demari Davis and Marissa George.

She arrived alongside Katherine Laprell, Kassy Castillo and chose Dave for a date by default after Jimmy Presnell and Jimmy Sotos were both picked by her fellow intruders. However, Dave and Sophie hit it off on their date and went ahead and matched that night.

While they initially kept things fairly casual — even kissing other contestants at the singles mixer — their connection has started to blossom, with Dave telling Sophie in Episode 7 that he isn’t interested in anyone else.

“Watching everyone tonight, I realise we’re still drawn to each other, and there’s no one else that I’m interested in in this place,” Dave told her.

In an interview with Chattr, Dave said that moment was when he realised he was starting to have genuine feelings for the Brit.

“We went on to the mixer party, we only were matched for about 24 hours before that, but even going off and then sort of coming back to Sophie and having the chats and stuff like that, about closing off and sort of locking in together, that was a good turning point for both of us.

“We were always drawn to each other, having a laugh and stuff like that, so it was like, I care about this person, and in there the emotions are very intense… it is intensified, and to have that connection that you didn’t expect was really cool.”

Dave reveals what Perfect Match’s Sophie is really like

Sophie’s first reality show was Love Is Blind UK Season 2 and she built a strong connection with Kieran Holmes-Darby, but when it became clear that he was also very interested in his now-wife Megan Jupp, she made it clear she wasn’t willing to be a second choice and walked out of the show.

Sophie’s assertive nature on Love Is Blind managed to help her score the title of the season’s villain from fans, but Dave told Chattr that that perception couldn’t be further from the truth.

“She is such a sweet soul, her and her dad have a really good bond, her and her family. She’s got a cute little dog. She lives a little simple life. She’s not a villain, she just speaks her mind. She might say something that people don’t agree with, but she’s not, she’s not a villain. She’s, she’s a lovely, lovely, sweet person. She’s a good support, she builds you up as well,” he gushed.

Dave added that he and Sophie bonded over being able to share more of their real personalities than was shown on their initial reality TV shows.

“I feel like we both get to show our personality a lot more on Perfect Match. Especially me, you hardly ever got to see me show any emotion, I was very quiet on MAFS, and same with Sophie. I feel like she’s come out of her shell completely on this show on Perfect Match, and I’m so glad that she got that.

“We had conversations about her villain edit, and the way she was portrayed, and the way that sort of the people treated her, so I knew that it was special to her to have fun on this show and sort of express herself.”
