Read on at your own risk because there are spoilers galore. You’ve been warned!

There were six couples who formed strong relationships in the Love Island Australia 2024 villa.

  • Em and Mercedes
  • Kaylah and Eric
  • Sophie and Dylan
  • Niko and Mia
  • Steph and Mimi
  • Taylor and Hannah

Are Em and Mercedes still together?

Nope, Em Miguel Leigh and Mercedes Knox are just one of this year’s Love Island Australia couples to break up before the show had even finished airing.

Although the couple were crowned the winners during the Love Island Australia finale, they have since revealed that they split shortly after leaving the villa.

In an interview with Chattr, Em explained that once she arrived back in Australia after filming Love Island, she began to doubt her relationship with Mercedes.

“There were a couple of things that I was flagging in [the Love Island] environment with Mercedes—definitely one being the way he spoke to me when we had our first argument.”

“After I got home, I regained a perspective that you’re just not allowed in the villa because of the environment.

She added that she experienced some issues with Mercedes in the real world.

“Honestly, one instance happened outside of the villa very fast that crossed my boundaries and that definitely added to me not wanting to continue things further pretty quickly after being back home,” Em explained.

“There were massive boundaries crossed, so no, I would not be comfortable rekindling things.”

In an interview with 9Entertainment, Mercedes explained how the break up came to be.

“I think I got home on Tuesday, and on Saturday, we agreed to take space. But I feel like the way Mercedes communicated that was a little lost in translation for me,” she said.

“His intention, he said later on, with taking space was that we would come back together. But I got that message and I was like, ‘We’re done’.”

Verdict: No, Em and Mercedes aren’t together.

Are Kaylah and Eric still together?

It sounds as though Eric Garcia and Kaylah Holmes may well still be going strong outside of the Love Island Australia 2024 villa.

Before Eric even stepped foot into the villa, fans of the show believed they had noticed a glimpse of Kaylah with a leaked Islander in a promo video, who is now identifiable as Eric.

Kaylah also admitted in an interview with fashion brand White Fox that she’s “still currently” with her “partner she met in the villa.”

We’re guessing she’s referring to Eric.

Kaylah and Eric are one of three couples that made it to the grand finale.

Verdict: Yes, it sure sounds like Kaylah and Eric are still together.

Are Dylan and Sophie still together?

Dylan and Sophie on their final date

Sophie Mills and Dylan Towolawi broke up shortly after leaving Love Island Australia 2024, and he’s now dating Mimi Paranihi.

Dylan and Sophie started having some issues after he discovered that she hooked up with Zane Prophet at Hotel Amor. Then, things took another dramatic turn when Dylan made an offensive comment about Sophie at the Movie Night.

Although the couple left the show still together, they announced their split shortly.

“Dylan did start acting a little bit funny, and he did give me a ring and let me know that there’s somebody from his past that has come back up and that he’s interested in getting to know again,” Sophie told 9Now.

“I just decided to remove myself from the equation, and I think it was probably for the best.”

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with the publication, Dylan explained that he and Mimi hooked up on a night out.

“After that night happened, we were just always talking and seeing each other on group nights. Then, the last month and a half, we’ve been out and staying at each other’s houses,” he said.

Verdict: No, Dylan and Sophie aren’t still together.

Are Niko and Mia still together?

Niko Fotopoulos was besotted with Bombshell Mia Dalkos from the moment he met her, and the two quickly formed a strong relationship on the show.

However, like most of the other couples, they didn’t manage to make their relationship work on the outside.

“Interstate is hard,” Nico told 9Entertainment. “When we got out of the villa, it was roughly about six weeks where we were talking, exclusive and seeing each other, travelling down to Adelaide and [Mia] to Sydney.

“After that it got a bit difficult, just a personality clash. It’s nothing to do with her as a person, we just didn’t align as well as we originally thought.”

Following the revelation from Niko, Mia took to Instagram to confirm that she and Niko were never actually a couple.

“No we’re not still together. We actually never were together officially. We spoke for a few weeks after the villa, but yeah, nah. We’re civil. That’s it,” she said during an Instagram fan Q&A session.

Niko and Mia made it to the grand finale alongside Kaylah and Eric and Em and Mercedes.

Verdict: No, Niko and Mia aren’t still together.

Are Steph and Mimi still together?

Mimi and Steph outside the Love Island Australia 2024 villa.

Nope, Steph Blackos and Mimi’s relationship is well and truly over.

In a post-elimination interview, Steph said that he and Mimi dated outside the villa but split shortly after.

“Mimi and I are not in a relationship. We decided to stop things one month after the show, but we are on good terms together. I don’t regret anything. She’s an amazing woman,” he told 9Now.

Mimi clarified that she broke up with Steph after the two didn’t see eye to eye in their relationship.

“I actually called it quits with him, purely because he did and said things that I was not comfortable with. He showed another side of him that I didn’t like,” she explained.

“When the show finished, we actually got into quite a big argument that involved me stating that I didn’t want to continue this relationship.

“He kind of crossed my boundaries quite a few times, and I was quite upset about it. I feel like he was a different person outside of the Villa.”

Ooft.

Verdict: No, Mimi and Steph aren’t still together.

Are Hannah and Taylor still together?

Love Island Australia 2024's Hannah and Taylor.

Hannah Steinfeld and Taylor Reid left the Love Island 2024 villa with the intention of pursuing a relationship on the outside, but that never came to fruition.

Both Islanders confirmed that they dated briefly IRL but split shortly after.

Taylor told 9Now that he and Hannah “had a conversation because there was some information that came to light that we needed to speak about.”

“We started to get to know each other without the cameras and see each other’s lives and lifestyles, and there was something that didn’t sit with me morally,” he added.

Hannah declined to comment on the reason behind their breakup but said that they still share a friendship.

“Taylor and I are not together. I’ll just confirm that Tay and I are still really close friends and that we’re as close as we were in the Villa, just not romantically,” she said.

Verdict: No, Hannah and Taylor aren’t still together.

Love Island Australia 2024: Mia has spilled some tea about her split with Niko

If you’ve followed Love Island Australia 2024 closely, you likely noticed one of the season’s standout couples: Niko Fotopoulos and Bombshell, Mia Dalkos.

This Greek duo captured the hearts of fans with their chemistry, but now that filming has wrapped, the burning question about Niko and Mia is: Are they still together?

Here’s what we know about the pair’s relationship status post-villa.

Niko and Mia: Does this couple survive Love Island Australia?

Although it appeared on our screens that Niko and Mia were meant to be, like most of the other couples this year, their relationship didn’t survive on the outside.

Throughout Love Island Australia 2024, it was clear that Niko and Mia’s biggest hurdle would be the distance between them, as Niko lives in Sydney and Mia in Adelaide.

And, according to an interview Niko did with 9Entertainment, that’s exactly the reason they broke up.

“Interstate is hard,” he told the publication.

Meanwhile, Mia took to Instagram on Christmas Eve to reveal that she and Niko were never actually a couple.

“No we’re not still together. We actually never were together officially. We spoke for a few weeks after the villa, but yeah, nah. We’re civil. That’s it,” she said during an Instagram fan Q&A session.

Things looked promising for Niko’s relationship with Mia before the breakup bombshell he dropped during the interview.

In late November, TikToker Olan Tekkers posted a video interviewing the 2024 Islanders about their time on the show. During his chat with Niko, he asked if he’d found his “Greek goddess,” presumably alluding to Mia. At the time, Niko enthusiastically replied, “Fuck yeah.”

Turns out, it wasn’t meant to be!

Niko’s long-term situationship

An alleged long-term ex of Niko’s recently came out of the woodwork and dropped “receipts” about their time together.

During episode 26, which aired on December 9, the Islanders were shown their partner’s audition tapes.

In his video, Niko admitted to being in a situationship that lasted for two years but said he wasn’t “emotionally attached.”

Now, a woman named Bella has gained traction on social media after posting screenshots of what she’s claimed is a conversation between her and Niko.

In one of the texts, it appears that Niko said he “cared for” Bella, and there’s also a spicy, long break-up text. Read for yourself below.

Niko and Mia’s Love Island story

In Episode 16, we learnt that Niko – who had been coupled up with Hannah Steinfeld until this point – was going on a blind date with the new Bombshell Mia.

Ahead of their date, Niko received the following text:

“Yassou Niko, today is your lucky day!”

“A beautiful Greek boy deserves a beautiful Greek girl. Get ready for the best date of your life. Love Mia.”

Fans are wondering if Love Island couple Niko and Mia are still together.

On their waterfront date, Niko updated Mia on all the happenings in the villa, including his romance with Hannah. He explained that Hannah had shared she was interested in someone else in the villa (Taylor Reid) and that this date with Mia represented a “fresh start” for him.

During the next Recoupling ceremony, Mia coupled up with Niko, but to the surprise of audiences at home, Hannah was left single and without the chance to recouple. She was sent straight home.

Fortunately for Hannah, she reentered the villa when Taylor was given the opportunity to recouple with her. As for Mia and Niko, their relationship thrived and they left the grand finale together as a couple.

However, things clearly went down hills after the cameras stopped rolling.

What are fans saying about Love Island Australia’s Niko and Mia?

This pairing was easily a fan favourite from the very get-go. Folks were happy to see Niko meet such a compatible match after Hannah. However, after Movie Night, it seems views have shifted somewhat.

During the drama-filled Movie Night, Niko was left feeling that his ex Hannah never had feelings for him, which brought up some disappointment for him. He ended up speaking with Hannah, telling her he genuinely thought she was the “most beautiful, nicest, most bubbly girl”. He added that Hannah was his “type to a tee, like Margot Robbie.”

“Maybe I was just sort of love blind,” he told Hannah.

Hannah took this information and brought it directly back to Mia, who was then left feeling like Niko still had feelings for his ex.

Fans on Reddit shared that they felt disappointed in how Niko responded to Mia’s concerns.

“Even though I do think Hannah somewhat twisted what Niko said, I also don’t love the way Niko has responded to Mia If he really did like her, he would be more receptive to her concerns and how she feels without getting so mad and making it purely about him? A little empathy goes a long way,” one Redditor wrote.

“I honestly didn’t think what Niko said to Hannah was a big deal, however I can see how him bringing it up added with how much questions he asked Hannah during the truth bike can be suspicious to Mia. He should’ve also listened to Mia’s concerns more, even if he believes that he genuinely doesn’t have feelings anymore,” said another.

“I feel like Niko was just trying to explain to Hannah he was really into her and it was a genuine connection for him and that he felt like it was fake from her end because of Taylor. I definitely think he said some stupid stuff, but I think his meaning was twisted, and he’s bad at explaining himself or they aren’t showing it,” shared a third.

Niko’s and Mia’s break up means that five of the six strongest Love Island Australia 2024 couples aren’t together anymore.

MAFS 2025’s Billy Belcher: the tatted-up “top bloke” & Englishman

Married at First Sight 2025 (MAFS) is shaping up to be one of the dishiest seasons yet, with plenty more rumoured drama on set to look forward to.

Among the chaotic cast is 31-year-old Englishman Billy Belcher. He’s paired up with the first ex-Bachelor contestant to appear on MAFS, Sierah Swepstone.

Here’s everything we know about Billy so far.

MAFS 2025 Billy Belcher

Was Billy a last-minute addition to the MAFS game?

According to Daily Mail Australia, Billy was indeed a last-minute addition to the experiment, with producers bringing in the “tattooed larrikin” to the bucks party at the eleventh hour to add “an extra dash of excitement”.

According to the outlet, the plasterer by trade is key to the show’s mission of bringing even more diverse and dynamic personalities to the mix.

One insider explained, “Casting someone from England was important. The show’s success overseas has shown us that viewers love seeing a mix of backgrounds and cultures. Billy brings that unique British charm and authenticity that we believe will resonate well with the audience.”

According to Daily Mail, Billy’s “bold personality and unique style” will deliver an “interesting twist” to the series.

What do insiders think of Billy?

“Billy is a top bloke, full of personality and style. We knew he would bring something unique to the show,” an insider shared with Daily Mail

Another source added, “He’s got a great sense of humour and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. We think the viewers will love him.”

What do we know about Billy Belcher?

Billy moved to Australia with his family when he was 16-years old. According to his Channel 9 bio, Billy is extremely protective of those he loves, and calls himself a “mummy boy”.

Billy’s looking for “miss perfect” and hopes to find someone who’s positive, confident, and enjoys a Saturday night at home with a glass of wine and a home-cooked meal.

Could that be Sierah? We can’t wait to find out!

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7:30pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Are Love Island Australia 2024’s Em and Mercedes still together?

Model couple Em Miguel Leigh and Mercedes Knox were voted the winners of Love Island Australia 2024, so are they still together now?

Despite being voted the audience’s favourite couple, Em and Mercede’s relationship didn’t last long in the outside world.

Read on to find out more about what led to Em and Merecede’s break up.

Em and Mercedes: Did they survive outside Love Island Australia?

Em, a 26-year-old content creator, and Mercedes, a two-time FBoy Island US winner, were the first couple in the villa to make their relationship official.

However, the couple’s glaringly obvious obstacle was being from different sides of the world—which, according to Mercedes, led to the demise of their relationship.

During an interview with Chattr, Em explained that once she’d landed back in Australia, and Mercedes was in America, she started to see their relationship differently.

“My travel home was about 35 hours. I just thought about [the relationship] on the way home and realized that I didn’t actually trust this person.”

The model said that doubts crept in about Mercedes’ intentions, as he’d previously been on FBoy Island US twice.

“I was really grappling with, ‘Is he genuine? Was he just trying to make it to the end? He’s done it two times before.'” she explained.

In an interview with 9Now, Mercedes elaborated further and explained it was he who suggested that they take some time apart.

“Coming back from the Villa, we were on a high,” he said.

Em and Mercedes on Love Island Australia. Image: Nine.

“After you come back, there’s a grace period where you get back to real life, and I kind of figured both of us were going to need that and incorporate that… so I said, ‘I think we need a break’.

“Then the break turned into being broken up.”

Em told the same publication that she felt the former couple miscommunicated about their breakup.

On the upside, the Love Island winners appear amicable with each other, so is there a possibility they could rekindle their flame?

“Em is super excited to see me when I come to Australia,” Mercedes told 9Now.

“I don’t know if I would’ve said ‘super’… I’ll see you,” Em joked in response.

We guess it’s not a no?

Em and Mercedes’ Love Island story

Are Love Island Australia 2024 Em and Mercedes still together
Em and Mercedes entering the villa. Image: Nine

Mercedes entered the villa as a bombshell, initially exploring connections with Xanthe Wessen and Sophie Mills. But things took a turn when Taylor Reid gave him the green light to pursue Em.

The pair got together just minutes after Em ended things with Taylor, who wasn’t too pleased despite giving his blessing. As usual, things move fast in the villa!

From there, Em and Mercedes’ relationship went from strength to strength, and the two made it to the Love Island Australia finale alongside Kaylah and Eric and Niko and Mia.

What happened between Em and Mercedes after the Truth Bike?

em truth bike challenge love island
Em wasn’t happy with Mercedes after the Truth Bike. Image: Nine

During the ‘Truth Bike’ challenge in the villa, Em became pretty upset with Mercedes after he decided to share with the group that the couple had been intimate during their time in the villa together.

Following this, Mercedes attempted to talk to Em, who asked for a moment alone.

“I don’t know what’s going on, you should at least tell me your emotions,” Mercedes said.

“You’re mad at me for telling the truth on a truth bike.”

Em later spoke with Sophie, sharing that she was hurt, and Mercedes called her “emotionally immature” because of her reaction to him sharing details about a private moment between them.

Fans on Reddit have had mixed responses to this.

“Okay, watching the episode currently, and it does seem like he [Mercedes] genuinely reflected and realized how his response was a bit fucked up (def credit Steph for being a true friend and telling him what he did wrong). Really hope he tries to empathize with her [Em] more before lashing out in future situations,” said one fan.

Another viewer was less forgiving: “Why are we acting like you are given truth serum for the truth bike? You make a CHOICE, to tell the truth or not. He’s reminding me of his first shows: Fuck Boy Island.

Another wrote, “I saw some serious red flags in that bathroom moment. Aggressive, domineering. The way he refused to give Em space when she asked to it was red flag city. Mercedes has this gentle, lighthearted exterior, but the dude has a few demons in there.”

Mercedes’ reality TV past

If Mercedes looks familiar, you might recognise him from FBoy Island America, where he won… twice. Yes, the Texan model made waves in the show’s second season by stealing a connection from his own brother, Marquise, in a move described as both “shocking” and “shady” by TikToker Leah Sauer (@positivelyuncensored).

@positivelyuncensored I need someone to discuss this niche topic with 😭 #loveisland #loveislandaustralia #loveislandusa #fboyisland #realitytv ♬ original sound – Positively Uncensored

Leah didn’t hold back, saying, “The only difference between Mercedes on FBoy Island seasons one and two and Love Island is he went and got himself some contacts.”

She also commented on his flip-flopping tendencies, pointing out his habit of tailoring his personality to suit different women. “Pick one!” she joked.

However, not everyone is convinced Mercedes is playing the same game. One Redditor speculated, “He’s acting like a completely different person on this show. It’s made me wonder how scripted FBoy Island was.”

Well, Mercedes has bagged his third win on a dating show, and he’s still single. Do with that what you will.

The Block’s Dan and Dani share tragic news about their newborn baby

The Block Foreman Dan Reilly and his wife Dani have tragically shared the news that their baby has passed away.

Dan and Dani confirmed the devastating news in a joint Instagram post in December and shared that Billie Vera Reilly was just 10 days old when she passed.

“Billie Vera Reilly 8/12/24 – 18/12/24,” Dani began.

“It is with insurmountable grief that we share the news that our daughter, Billie, has passed on from this life and into the next at just 10 days young.”

“In Billie’s short time in this world, she taught us an intensity of both love and pain we never knew possible. She taught us what really matters. Billie was so wanted, so loved and she made us parents… and what an honour it is to be her mummy and daddy. She will always be our daughter,” Dani continued,

“It’s clear to us that Billie was far too good for this world but if we know anything for sure, it’s that Billie’s legacy will make an impact greater than all of us.”

Dani went on to ask fans to give the couple privacy during the troubling time.

“We understand there will be questions, and so many of the answers we just don’t have yet. We’ll share more in time but for now we ask for privacy as we work through this together and with our loved ones.”

What time is Squid Game Season 2 released in Australia?

In some big news for Squid Game fans: not only are we getting closer to the release date for Season 2 (and Season 3!), but the official trailer has been released.

Yep, ICYMI, Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2 will drop this year, and Season 3 next year — meaning the gap between the two instalments is small.

The bad news? Season 3 will be the final instalment of the series. Boo!

Here’s everything we know about Season 2… and 3.

When will Squid Game Season 2 be released?

Season 2 of Squid Game premieres on Netflix on December 26, 2024. Netflix shows are typically released at midnight Pacific Time, which is 6pm AEST — so you can expect Squid Game Season 2 to pop up on the platform then.

While we know that the final season (Season 3) will be released in 2025, there’s no specific date just yet.

How to watch Season 2

The series is exclusive to Netflix and will be available to stream on the platform. Fingers crossed the whole season drops on the release date!

Is there a Squid Game Season 2 trailer?

There sure is, and it’s action-packed. The latest Squid Game trailer shows Seong Gi-hun (Player 456) asking to be put back into the game with the hope of creating change and ending the whole thing. However, the trailer highlights a long list of problems that stand in his way — including other players.

What is Squid Game Season 2 about?

The deadly games that made up Season 1 will be back for Season 2. It picks up three years after Player 456 won his games and took home around $38 million in prize money.

He’s determined to put a stop to the Games and is using his new fortune to fund his mission.

His first step is to find the man in a sharp suit playing Ddakji in the subway. However, once he begins his pursuit, he realises the only way to possibly stop the games is to reenter them.

How many episodes are in Squid Game Season 2?

Season 2 will only have seven episodes, which is a drop from the ten episodes released for Season 1.

The show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, explained his reasoning behind the choice.

“I wrote seasons two and three at the same time, and we were in production for both simultaneously, and currently we are in the post-production process for Season 3,” he told Deadline.

“When I was writing the script for the two seasons, I felt like there was a big turning point or an inflection point, and that was the end of episode seven, so I thought that it would do it justice to have a separate season after that.

“That’s why I had the first seven episodes as Season 2 and then the rest of Season 3.”

Who is in the Squid Game Season 2 cast?

Of course, (spoiler alert!) a huge chunk of characters died in Season 1, so some fan faves like Kang Sae-byeok (Player 067) and Ali Abdul (Player 199) won’t be returning. RIP.

However, Player 456 (Lee Jung-jae), Frontman (Lee Byung-hun), Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), and the Sales Man (Gong Yoo) are all back for Season 2.

They’ll be joined by newcomers including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri and Won Ji-an.

How to watch Paris & Nicole: The Encore in Australia

Reality TV’s iconic duo Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton are returning with a new The Simple Life-esque TV series called Paris & Nicole: The Encore.

Over two decades have passed since Paris and Nicole left behind their cellphones, credit cards and celebrity for The Simple Life, and fans are hanging out for the long-awaited release of Paris & Nicole: The Encore.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new series.

When does Paris & Nicole: The Encore air?

The new series will be released on December 12, 2024.

How to watch Paris & Nicole: The Encore in Australia

Paris & Nicole: The Encore is a Peacock special. Although Peacock isn’t available in Australia, we’re able to stream it on Hayu. Yay!

You can also stream the reality TV queens’ OG series, The Simple Life, on 7plus, 10Play and Prime Video.

Is there a trailer for Paris & Nicole: The Encore?

There is, and we love it. Watch it below for yourself.

How many episodes will there be?

The new show is a mini-series and will consist of just three episodes.

What happened to The Simple Life?

The Simple Life started in 2003 and ran for five seasons — it ended in 2007.

Nicole and Paris had a falling out in 2005, which is rumoured to be why the show ended. The story allegedly goes that Paris hosted Saturday Night Live that same year and didn’t invite Nicole to the filming.

As revenge, Nicole allegedly showed Paris’ sex tape to a group of people at a watch party.

Following the feud, the two socialites filmed the entirety of The Simple Life Season 4 and Season 5 separately.

Reflecting on the conflict, Paris called it “a little blip” in their 40-year friendship.

“Our lives are so braided together outside of that. Our relationship has spanned almost 40 years. So for us, I think that was more of a little blip,” she told W in October.

Messy! The perfect reality TV recipe.

MAFS 2025: Meet Tony Mojanovski, the season’s golden oldie

The Married at First Sight 2025 (MAFS) hype is in full swing, with this season set to be one of the juiciest seasons of the experiment so far!

This year’s MAFS cast features plenty of interesting characters, including NSW’s own Tony Mojanovski, the oldest groom of MAFS 2025, who has quite a colourful past.

Here’s everything we know about Tony so far.

Before MAFS, Tony Mojanovski made headlines as a local hero

Tony, 53, is a council worker from the Wollongong suburb of Port Kembla. Back in 2022, Tony made it into the news as a local hero when he tried to save a teenage fisherman who was swept off the infamous Honeycomb Rocks.

Tony was walking his dog when he saw the tragic incident take place. His noble actions solidified him as a community figure with a heart of gold.

What do friends and family think of MAFS’ Tony Mojanovski?

According to Daily Mail Australia, Tony is described by those closest to him as a “humble guy.”

While Tony has struggled to find lasting love, his friends hope MAFS will be the turning point.

“Tony’s a fun, genuine guy,” one friend shared with the outlet. “He loves fishing and the gym, and his dog Teddy is his life.”

But not everyone is sure Tony’s ready for the drama that is MAFS.

“Tony doesn’t like conflict,” the friend admitted, “so I’m not sure how he is going to handle the dinner parties when things heat up.”

Who is Tony matched with on MAFS?

Tony’s TV bride is Morena Farina, who is a wedding MC and DJ and is also the oldest bride of the season. But their honeymoon phase might be short-lived…

MAFS (Married at First Sight) 2025 Morena Farina
MAFS’ Tony Mojanovski is reportedly matched with Morena Farina. Image: Instagram

Is Tony still married to his ex?

According to Daily Mail, Tony is still technically married to his ex-partner!

The publication claims that while Tony has been separated from his long-term partner for three years, the paperwork officially ending their marriage is incomplete – a revelation the outlet claims blindsided bride-to-be Morena, who was “instantly smitten” with Tony.

“It was one of the best days of her life,” a source told the news outlet, “but then it all came crashing down when Tony made his bombshell confession.”

“At the honeymoon, he brought it up. He said, ‘If I’m married, does that bother you?’ It was a mess from the start,” added another source, who is reportedly close to Tony.

Apparently, the couple’s troubles will be a focal point for the MAFS 2025 season, with Tony reportedly feeling “pressured” by the situation.

“It got so bad that at one point he wanted to tap out,” the same source added.

Will the couple make it work, or become another possible walk-out of the season? We can’t wait to find out!

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

You can stream Gremlins in Australia on Binge.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

No Christmas streaming list is complete without mention of The Muppet Christmas Carol. This early ’90s film sees our beloved Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday story, with Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit and none other than Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge.

It’s about as heartwarming as Christmas movies come.

Batman Returns

If you thought we were done with the ’90s nostalgia, we’re not. Batman Returns is the second film in the Tim Burton series of Batman films, and it focuses on Michael Keaton‘s Batman struggling against Danny DeVito‘s The Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer‘s Catwoman and Christopher Walken‘s Max Shreck… during Christmas, of course.

This film is one example of a sequel improving on the original, and for that alone, it’s worth watching.

You can stream Batman Returns in Australia on Binge.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Love Island Australia 2024’s Em reveals if she’d get back together with Mercedes

Em Miguel Leigh and Mercedes Knox won Love Island Australia 2024, by a viewer vote but fans found out they split shortly after the finale was filmed. Now that the Islanders know how much Australia was rooting for them, would they be open to rekindling their relationship?

During an exclusive interview with Chattr, Em explained in detail why her relationship with Mercedes broke down and revealed whether she’d be willing to get back together with him.

Why did Love Island’s Mercedes and Em break up?

Em told Chattr that she and Mercedes had next to no time together after the finale, and her doubts started to creep in once they were apart.

“I think [the Love Island] experience is so wild, and you don’t have any perspective at all. You’re so close to everything. I will say when I was in that experience, I thought I’d met my person,” she explained.

“After I got home, I regained a perspective that you’re just not allowed in the villa because of the environment.

“There were a couple of things that I was flagging in [the Love Island] environment with Mercedes—definitely one being the way he spoke to me when we had our first argument.”

Em said that the time apart made her reevaluate her relationship with Mercedes.

“We wrapped the finale at 1am and then made it to the hotel at 2:30am. Then, my flight out was 3:30am the next day, so we had 25 hours in total together [outside of the villa].

“And, we had publicity to do the next day, social media, chat to a psychologist, so there was really no time to spend together outside of the experience before I was back on a plane, and then all of a sudden back in Sydney, it was so disorienting.

“My travel home was about 35 hours. I just thought about [the relationship] on the way home and realized that I didn’t actually trust this person.”

Em confirmed that the whole villa knew that Mercedes had been on FBoy Island US twice, but she didn’t consider that a red flag until after she’d left Spain.

“I was really grappling with, ‘Is he genuine? Was he just trying to make it to the end? He’s done it two times before.'” she explained.

Em told 9Now that she and Mercedes decided to take a break after the show because of the distance and never ended up getting back together.

Would Em consider getting back together with Mercedes?

Although Em and Mercedes share the title of Love Island Australia 2024 winners, Em told Chattr that she doesn’t see the couple rekindling their connection.

“Honestly, one instance happened outside of the villa very fast that crossed my boundaries and that definitely added to me not wanting to continue things further pretty quickly after being back home,” Em explained.

“There were massive boundaries crossed, so no, I would not be comfortable rekindling things.”

On the plus side, a single Em means we could see her on the next season of Love Island All Stars.

Tomorrow, When the War began actor Lincoln Lewis reacts to John Marsden’s death

Author John Marsden has died at age 74, and Lincoln Lewis, who starred in the writer’s Tomorrow Series movie adaptation, has paid tribute to the Australian icon.

John’s death was confirmed by The Candlebark and Alice Miller Schools, which he founded, on Wednesday, December 19.

“John Marsden transformed countless young lives through both his writing and his groundbreaking approach to education,” the school said in a statement.

“As one of Australia’s most beloved and successful authors, he sold more than 5 million books and was translated into 15 languages.”

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also paid tribute to John, saying his work would “live long in the national memory”.

“Vivid, funny, quintessentially Australian, he wrote with a real love for our land and a true sense of our people’s character,” he added.

“His was a great Australian voice that spoke to all ages, here and around the world.”

John wrote Tomorrow, When the War Began in 1993, the first book of the Tomorrow series. It went on to spawn seven books, and then he wrote a follow-up trilogy, The Ellie Chronicles.

The original title was made into a feature film, which starred Lincoln (Home and Away), Phoebe Tonkin (Boy Swallows Universe), and Caitlin Stasey (Neighbours).

Throughout his career as a writer, John published more than 40 books.

Lincoln Lewis reacts to John Marsden’s death

Lincoln, who played Kevin Holmes in the Tomorrow, When the War Began movie, took to Instagram to pay his respects to the Australian author.

“Saddened to hear of the passing of legendary Australian author John Marsden – writer of the Tomorrow When The War Began book series,” the actor began.

“I remember John came for a set visit while we were filming in Fox Studios towards the end of production. Very few times in my life have I been as star struck as when I shook his hand. Lost count how many times I told him that his books were the only thing I willingly read in high school,” Lincoln added.

“He was so polite, so graceful and just genuinely happy to be there. Seeing his eyes and smile beaming after watching our scenes being filmed – getting to see his books brought to life is something I’ll never forget, both as an actor & a fan of the books.”

Mercedes Knox’s Love Island Australia 2024 win is his third reality TV crown

Mercedes Knox entered the Love Island Australia 2024 villa as a Bombshell and wound up winning the entire series during the finale.

He initially coupled up with Sophie Mills but quickly found his way to Em Miguel Leigh. They made their relationship official but have since split up.

Let’s take a closer look at Mercedes’ story.

What do we know about Bombshell Mercedes Knox?

bombshell mercedes love island australia

Mercedes is a 28-year-old model from Dallas, Texas, with a reputation for being particularly charming with the ladies.

In a video with Love Island Australia producers, he shared that “the thing girls like about me most is my charisma. I’m smooth, and any girl would melt when I talk to her.”

Where have you seen Love Island’s Mercedes before?

For some, Mercedes may already be a familiar face in the reality TV world. He appeared on Season 2 of FBOY Island USA and won alongside his former girlfriend, Louise Barnard, splitting a $100,000 prize.

Mercedes later returned to FBOY Island USA for Season 3, where he reached the top again, this time splitting his $100,000 prize money with model Hali Okeowo. Seemingly, that relationship didn’t last either, because Mercedes is back on reality TV screens — this time on Love Island Australia.

What did Mercedes go onto Love Island Australia looking for?

In an interview with producers, Mercedes said that he was looking he could “bring home to mama.”

He explained that he was “done with the bad girls” and was searching for something real. However, he said that if the girl he was interested in is already in a couple, he’d “act like she’s not in a couple. Everybody is single to me.”

“The other guys in the Villa are definitely going to be intimidated by me, I’m going to come in there and show the girls what they’re missing,” he added.

Where to find Mercedes on social media

If you’d like to give Mercedes a follow on socials, you can find him on Instagram: @mercedesknoxx and on TikTok: @knoxmercedes.

There’s quite literally a Reddit thread dedicated to “what is it about Mercedes,” discussing his charm and his appeal on FBOY Island. So, we can’t help but believe him when he says he’s the “worst nightmare” (and perhaps a dream come true) for the other contestants in the Love Island Australia villa.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see whether Mercedes can win his third reality TV show.

Love Island Australia 2024 is airing on 9Now.

Mia Hewitt’s role on Home and Away has been revealed

Speculation has been running wild ever since Mia Hewitt, daughter of Aussie power couple Lleyton and Bec Hewitt, was spotted on the set of Home and Away earlier in December.

Photos of Mia first surfaced on Monday, 16 December, showing her holding a Bunnings umbrella and standing alongside actress Jessica Redmayne, who plays Harper Matheson.

It raised the question of whether the 19-year-old is following in her famous mum’s footsteps. Bec, of course, starred in the iconic, long-running Aussie soap from 1998 to 2005 as the beloved Hayley Smith Lawson.

Is Mia really stepping into the spotlight? Or does she have her own plans?

We’ve got the latest scoop!

What is Mia Hewitt’s role on Home and Away?

You might be a little surprised to learn that Mia isn’t on set to act. But she’s still very much a part of the Home and Away family. The talented teen has actually been working behind the scenes for some time.

Channel 7 confirmed the news exclusively to Chattr

“She is not cast, she is part of the crew, working as a casual wardrobe assistant, and has been part of the Home and Away family for the past year and a half,” a Channel 7 spokesperson said.

As Yahoo Lifestyle reported, Mia’s earned some fan love behind the camera, with sources revealing she’s “well-liked” by both the cast and crew.

The publication noted Mia was spotted on the Home and Away set working alongside the production crew, and helping out in various jobs including holding up an umbrella for a cast member.

Outside of Home and Away, what else has Mia been up to?

When Mia’s not rolling up her sleeves for Home and Away, she’s busy pursuing her own passion for music.

She plays guitar and sings in the band Father’s Favourite – a “bohemian rock ‘n’ roll” duo.

Speaking of the Hewitt family’s musical talents, don’t forget that Bec also launched a singing career before marrying tennis star Lleyton in 2005.

The couple is still going strong and shares three kids: Mia, Cruz, 15, and Ava, 13.

Talent runs in the Hewitt household

Mia isn’t the only Hewitt making a splash lately. Cruz, Lleyton and Bec’s 15-year-old son, is carving his own path by following in his dad’s legendary footsteps on the tennis court.

Proud dad Lleyton even took to Instagram to share a cute post celebrating Cruz’s progress at The Newcombe Medal Awards. Aw, so sweet!

MAFS couples do get paid and a 2025 participant has spilled exactly how much

We all know Married at First Sight (MAFS) can be the launchpad for social media stardom, but how much money do contestants have to fork out during the experiment, and what are they actually paid for their time on one of Australia’s most-watched reality TV shows?

From pay cheques to clothing allowances, we’ve done the digging and here’s the scoop on what it really costs to find your one true love on TV.

MAFS money questions answered. Pictured: Ivan Sarakula and Janelle Han
Former MAFS participants Ivan Sarakula and Janelle Han. Image: Instagram

Do the couples on MAFS get money?

Yes, but it’s not exactly life-changing money.

Women’s Day and the Daily Telegraph have previously reported that contestants get paid around $1,175 per week.

And, an unnamed MAFS 2025 contestant has confirmed the reports to Yahoo Lifestyle Australia.

“Nothing could prepare me for what I had signed up for, and while you do get sucked in by the glitz and glamour, the remuneration is appalling,” they said.

“You get $150 a day plus a $128 food allowance for the week. All up, you get $1,178. The way we are paid as ‘contributors’ and not as a proper job is how they can pay you so little.”

The same participant said that the cast is expected to work seven days a week, but because they are contributors, they don’t receive overtime pay.

“Some shoots were twenty hours, and paying us as ‘contributors’ is a loophole that allows for no overtime,” they said.

“The weekly ‘dinner parties’ could go well past midnight, and the ‘commitment ceremonies’ averaged between 8 and 12 hours.”

Former participants on how much they were paid to be on MAFS

Nasser Sultan, who appeared on the 2018 season, told Now to Love: “You get $150 for the day, that’s it… It’s not $150 clear. You still have to pay rent if you’re renting, you’ve gotta pay your rego, and it’s 12-hour filming days.”

An anonymous MAFS contestant shared similar feelings with The Daily Telegraph about the money. “I am broke after being on the show,” they revealed to the publication.

“I couldn’t even make my rent payments with what we were being paid… We would film late, so I’d be ordering takeaway most nights.”

MAFS money questions answered. Pictures: MAFS Australia contestants Nasser Sultan and Jesse Burford.

Season 7’s Mikey Pembroke discussed his earnings on the I’ve Got News For You podcast, explaining he “pocketed about $1,000 bucks” during his MAFS stint.

He added: “The show makes an incredible amount of money,” but MAFS contestants are left with just enough to scrape by.

Pay details appear inconsistent across seasons, with some suggesting pay cheques have grown slightly.

In a Q&A on Instagram, 2023 groom Jesse Burford claimed contestants were paid $1,175 per week.

According to News.com.au “villain” of MAFS 2022, Olivia Frazer, said she earned “around $1,100 a week,” while her co-star Al Perkins told Daily Mail: “MAFS will pay you just over like a grand a week… But it’s not until the endorsements afterwards, that’s where you make your money.”

Olivia’s rival, Domenica Calarco, admitted her pay was far from glamorous during an interview on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, saying it was “about minimum wage.”

For reference, Australia’s weekly minimum wage is currently $915.90 per week, per the latest figures from the Fair Work Ombudsman.

Do MAFS contestants get a clothing allowance?

Sort of.

Nasser told Now to Love that while the show doesn’t officially cover wardrobes, contestants often hustle to score free clothing.

“The girls would message companies on Instagram and ask for free clothes to be sent to them, and so we’d be sitting there and these deliveries would show up,” he said.

Meanwhile, 2019 groom Liam Cooper revealed on episode 169 of the So Dramatic! podcast that contestants had to dig into their own pockets: “They only gave us [a] $150 budget and then the rest we had to put in and that’s all we were given as a reimbursement.”

But, things do appear to have improved slightly over the years on the money-front.

On episode 170 of the So Dramatic! podcast, 2021 bride Beck Zemek revealed producers offered $500 for her wedding look and $200 for Final Vows.

However, she added, “Most people [gave] out dresses for free or for just $500 because they knew it was going to be on TV. Mine was a $3,000 dress.”

Jaimie Gardner, another 2021 bride, told the publication that each contestant received $1,500 for their MAFS wedding attire, plus $500 for bridesmaids and groomsmen.

But overall? A lot of costs come out of pocket.

MAFS money questions answered. Pictured: MAFS Australia contestants Olivia Frazer and Jaimie Gardner.

During an Instagram Q&A, 2022 bride Olivia said, “you get paid $1100 weekly… Out of that you have to pay for your rent, bills, food, hair, make-up, outfits (so many outfits because producers need to approve).”

The anonymous Daily Telegraph source echoed this:  “I spent a bomb on outfits, hair and makeup, and to top it off, they didn’t even let us wear what we wanted.”

And for those wondering, MAFS producers even have the final say on what contestants wear. Season 10 bride Janelle Han revealed to Refinery29 Australia that cast members often pull pieces from their own wardrobes, only for producers to step in with approval.

“For commitment ceremonies and any of those sorts of events, we submit three photos and then they finalise the final one… That’s because they don’t want any outfit clashing,” she explained.

Plus, Han noted that contestants are also responsible for doing their own hair and makeup on the show.

Does Married at First Sight pay for the honeymoon?

While details are a little scarce, a look at the US version of MAFS offers some clues.

According to Women’s Health, each couple’s honeymoon is all-inclusive, though they don’t get to choose the destination.

There’s also a popular theory suggesting couples who are likely to stir up the most drama and become Main Characters are treated to the most glamorous MAFS honeymoon spots by producers.

Take the 2024 season of MAFS Australia, for example. While Eden Harper and Jayden Eynaud‘s honeymoon stayed local in Airlie Beach, never even leaving their home state of Queensland, Sydney’s Tim Calwell and Sara Mesa were whisked away to the tropical paradise of Fiji.

Does Married at First Sight pay for the wedding?

Yes… but with a catch.

Over in the US, ScreenRant noted that producers typically cover the money for weddings, rings, and bachelor/bachelorette parties, but hinted that participants don’t necessarily have free reign over their budgets.

From what we gather, the show covers some costs, but anything beyond that comes out of the contestant’s pocket.

Bride Jaimie told So Dramatic! that producers “recommend you go to cheap wedding places,” although she rejected this suggestion.

MAFS money questions answered. Pictured: MAFS Australia contestants Ivan Sarakula and Martha Kalifatidis.
Ivan Sarakula and Martha Kalifatidis spill on the money that goes into MAFS weddings. Image: Instagram

Similarly, Daily Mail reports that MAFS Australia Season 7 groom Ivan Sarakula forked out his own money to fund a more elaborate big day, despite the producers providing a budget.

Co-star Martha Kalifatidis told the publication: “Apparently, Ivan actually got money out of his own pocket to pay for part of his wedding because he wanted it to be so elaborate, and the show gives you a budget.”

How much money do MAFS experts get paid?

Alessandra Rampolla, John Aiken, and Mel Schilling may be an important part of the MAFS experiment, but their reported pay cheques don’t exactly match the show’s soaring ratings.

A New Idea insider revealed in 2020: “The experts are on $50,000 each for the whole series and they feel they are being underpaid.”

Experts Alessandra Rampolla, Mel Schilling and John Aiken
MAFS Experts Alessandra Rampolla, Mel Schilling and John Aiken. Image: Nine

Well, it’s not like the experts are exactly struggling for cash. According to The Tab, Alessandra and John are worth £1.8 million (AUD $3.61 million) each, while Mel sits at £1 million (AUD $2 million). Not too shabby!

Well, there you have it! MAFS contestants don’t exactly walk away loaded (at least not initially), and much of the love story comes with a hefty personal price tag.

“H20 trio”: Love Island 2024’s Em gives an update on her friendship with Mimi and Sophie

The friendship between Em Miguel Leigh, Sophie Mills and Mimi Paranihi was one of fans’ favourite things to come out of Love Island Australia 2024.

Throughout the season, viewers watched the three women come increasingly close and support each other through the tough times inside the villa — including Sophie’s rollercoaster romance with Dylan.

However, it was recently revealed that Mimi has started dating Dylan Towolawi since the show wrapped, and Love Island winner Em opened up in an interview with Chattr about how that affected the dynamic of the trio’s friendship.

Where Em, Mimi and Sophie’s friendship stands now

Em told Chattr that her friendship with both Mimi and Sophie has grown even stronger in the real world.

“We are all such, such good friends. I was just with them all yesterday because Soph is in Sydney at the moment,” she said.

“They’re actually out right now having a coffee and a walk around, but I was too sick to join. We’re all as close as ever.”

Em added that she and Mimi are planning a holiday away together.

“We’re loosely planning a trip to Japan for next year, which is exciting. We both love the snow, so I really want to go snowboarding. She’s gonna go skiing,” she explained.

“If I got one thing out of this whole experience—I got multiple things—but, I would say, I’m most grateful for the both of them and their friendship.”

Has Mimi’s relationship with Dylan affected her friendship with Sophie?

Sophie and Dylan were coupled up for the majority of their time on Love Island Australia 2024, and while they went through adversity on the show, they left as a couple.

Em said that although Mimi and Dylan are dating, the new relationship will not cause a rift between Sophie and Mimi despite their history.

“The Sophie, Dylan and Mimi situation, I feel like everybody’s just been quite mature about it all, it was all aired out pretty quickly,” she explained.

Em added that while the whole situation wasn’t exactly ideal for Sophie, the women’s friendship trio is still as strong as ever.

“Sophie just wants the best for Mimi. Obviously, she wishes that maybe it could have been someone else, but it’s not, and that’s okay. It’s not going to affect their friendship at all,” Em said.

Phew! We don’t know if our hearts could handle a rift between the three women.

With 22 albums to her name, Marcia has sold over 2.6 million records and achieved multiple chart-topping hits. Her ongoing impact on Australian music was recognised in 2007 when she was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

In 2024, she starred as Teen Angel in the John Frost/Crossroads Live production of Grease.

In 2023, she released The Gospel According to Marcia, an album celebrating her musical roots and early experiences with gospel music.Marcia was part of the Australian Idol judging panel during the original show’s seven consecutive seasons, and she returned as a guest judge during the show’s 2023 reboot. Sometimes controversial, always entertaining, Kyle is one of Australia’s most recognisable broadcasters and media personalities.

Originally from Brisbane, Kyle began his radio career at 21, landing his first gig at Austereo’s Triple M in Brisbane before moving to Sydney in 1999 to host Hot30 Countdown at 2Day FM.

Since 2000, he has been the co-host of the hugely popular Kyle & Jackie O Show, which made headlines with its record-breaking 10-year deal with KIIS FM which was inked in 2023, reportedly worth $200 million.

The show has earned multiple Australian Commercial Radio Awards, including wins in 2006, 2007, 2011, and 2015.

Kyle was also a judge on the original Australian Idol from 2005 to 2009 and returned to the judging panel for the reboot in 2023

In 2008, he hosted The Australian Big Brother alongside Jackie O and also served as a judge on The X-Factor Australia from 2010 to 2011, and Australia’s Got Talent from 2010 to 2013.

Sometimes referred to as a “shock jock” due to his unfiltered personality, Kyle was once named “most hated Australian identity” by  Zoo Weekly in 2006. Still, his outspoken attitude has endeared him to much of the public and helped him build a loyal fan base.

When he’s not on air, Kyle heads his own entertainment and investment company, The King Kyle Group, which produces and manages content across radio, TV, publishing, film, and music.

Amy is a multi-platinum, award-winning Australian indie pop singer-songwriter. Hailing from the Gold Coast, Amy’s career took off in 2016 with the release of the six-times platinum single Adore, which became a nationwide hit.

She also earned the APRA award for Song of the Year for her chart-topping hit I Said Hi, which garnered massive success and topped airplay charts across Australia. Fun fact:

Amy’s stage name is inspired by her love for the movie Jaws.

Her debut album, Love Monster, skyrocketed to the number one spot on the ARIA charts and was certified platinum. In 2018, it was honoured with four ARIA awards and nominated for another five.

Love Monster went on to become the highest-selling album by an Australian artist in 2018 and also made waves in the US, peaking at number two on the Billboard Heatseekers album chart.

Amy made history as the first Australian artist to be named Apple’s Up Next Artist, which led to appearances on major platforms, including The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

In addition to her music career, Amy competed on Celebrity Apprentice Australia in 2022, and in 2023, she joined the judging panel of Australian Idol for its reboot. Now, she’s returning for Australian Idol 2025, ready to help discover the next great Aussie talent!

Til Death Do Us Part: Jock Zonfillo’s widow Lauren announces new book about love and loss

Jock Zonfrillo’s widow Lauren Zonfrillo (née Fried) has written a book titled Til Death Do Us Part that explores love and loss, touching on her experience of losing the late MasterChef Australia judge.

Lauren took her Instagram account to share news about the book with her followers.

“The kids and I have been surrounded by so much care, so many people felt the loss of Jock,” she said in a video.

Lauren went on to explain that the overwhelming response to Jock’s death encouraged her to put pen to paper.

“It’s been really hard for me to explain how we got from absolute catastrophe to the new version of our lives, which, in spite of it all, is quite bright and optimistic,” she said.

“So I’ve written my book, which is my journey through grief. It was not at all cathartic.”

Lauren and Jock got married in 2017 and shared two kids, Alfie and Isla. The former MasterChef Australia judge was found dead in his hotel room in April 2023. His cause of death was never publicly shared.

Lauren Zonfrillo said writing the book took her to a “dark” place

During the video, Lauren told her followers that writing Til Death Do Us Part took her down a traumatic path emotionally.

“I reread journals from some very dark and broken places, and probably undid a bit of my progress, to be honest, but it did make me think deeper about some really complex parts of grief. And so I write about my spirituality and my connection to Jock,” she said.

Lauren explained that the book covers dealing with grief and her personal experiences with the matter.

“I write about my spirituality and my connection to Jock now,” she said.

“I write about grief amnesia, which is the physical response to trauma which has impacted my memory, my mind and my body.

“The unrelenting firsts that just keep coming in waves and living a life of intention and living with urgency.”

Till Death Do Us Part will be released on May 6, 2025.
