MasterChef Recap Episode 40: Will a collapsed cake mean the end for one cook?

It’s MasterChef episode 40 and the top six is about to become a top five after tonight’s challenge.

The episode saw Malissa, Kat, Declan, Rhiannon, and Brent face off in a dessert challenge before the judge’s three least favourite dishes saw those cooks battle it out in the elimination round.

Consummate pastry chef and chocolatier Kirsten Tibballs joined judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong, and Andy Allen to set a sweet Elimination Challenge over the two rounds.

She unveiled a basket of sweet ingredients including raspberries and hazelnut praline paste and the contestants were informed that they must be used in both rounds. They were also given a clock with a ninety-minute timer and told it too will need to be used across both rounds.

The Cook

Rhiannon opted for Lemon Cake with Raspberry Sauce and Bitter Almonds, and the dish took her 41 minutes. Andy loved her dish but said the almonds should have been crushed.

MasterChef. Ten.

Malissa went for a Chocolate Parfait with a Raspberry sauce and Almond Crumb which took her 51 minutes. Kristen said her parfait was “fantastic” and “smashing”, and it was gold stars all around from the rest of the judges, aside from the fact that she included raspberry seeds in her sauce.

MasterChef. Ten.

Kat decided to make a Chocolate Mousse with Hazelnut Cream and Vanilla Shortbread, which took her 52 minutes. Melissa said the presentation was “cute” but said the mousse “lacked structure”.

MasterChef. Ten.

Declan chose a Choux Bun with a Raspberry Craqueline and Hazelnut Praline Filling. He went for broke and spent a whopping one hour and three minutes. Jock said his “risky, risky” time choice gave him a “right to be nervous” but declared the dish was excellent.

MasterChef. Ten.

Meanwhile, Brent ducked out of the competition and used his Immunity Pin, so he cooked… nothing.

MasterChef. Ten.

The Verdict

Declan’s Choux Bun with a Raspberry Craqueline and Hazelnut Praline Filling was the judge’s favourite, and Rhiannon, Kat and Malissa were sent to the elimination round.

Round Two Cook

All three contestants had limited ingredients left for their elimination cook and Rhiannon had the most time left by far with 49 minutes. Malissa and Kat were close time-wise with 38 and 39 minutes respectively.

Rhiannon cooked a Chocolate Fondant with Hazelnut Ice Cream and Lemon Crumb while Malissa choose a Hazelnut Ice Cream Sandwich. Kat went for Flourless Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Raspberry Coulis.

Unfortunately for Rhiannon, with just four minutes to go her fondant collapsed when she tried to plate it.

MasterChef. Ten.

Kat was disappointed with the look of her cake, while Malissa was in perky spirits about her dish and thought it was “great”.

The Judge

Kat was the first to present her dish to the judges and said the plating up looked “really ugly” but Jock said it was a “great cake”.

MasterChef. Ten.

Malissa was next and her dish proved the age-old adage of not judging a book by its cover. Despite looking beautiful, the judges said the excessive baking powder used in the ice cream sandwich’s shortbread ruined the flavour.

MasterChef. Ten.

Despite being all but convinced that Rhiannon’s collapsed chocolate fondant was sending her home, Jock said the flavour was “fantastic” and said that he’d “readily” eat it again.

MasterChef. Ten.

The Verdict

Malissa’s overzealous use of baking powder bought her dish down, and she was sent home from the competition.

MasterChef Australia airs Sunday – Thursday at 7.30pm on 10 and 10Play.

Hold the phone! Has Dr Chris Brown’s I’m A Celeb replacement host finally been revealed?

After what feels like a 558-month wait (okay, five, but still), it’s finally been revealed who is kinda-sorta-maybe replacing Dr Chris Brown as co-host on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Australia.

An insider has dished to Daily Mail Australia that Australian comedian Sam Pang will be slipping into Dr Brown’s jungle attire to host the show alongside Julia Morris.

The unnamed source told the publication that Pang is the “prime contender to fill the big boots left behind” by Brown.

They added, “Pang could provide a fresh spin on the popular reality show with his comedic genius”

“Our viewers love a good laugh and Sam’s knack for making even the most serious situations hilarious is just what we need to bring a new dynamic to the show.”

Who is Sam Pang?

Sam Pang. Channel 10.

Pang’s media career has been going from strength to strength in recent times. He’s been announced as the host of the 2023 TV Week Logie Awards, and is a permanent panelist on the quiz show Have You Been Paying Attention?.

From 2009 until 2017, he hosted Eurovision for SBS alongside Julia Zemiro. He’s also co-hosted Network Seven’s The Front Bar alongside Mick Molloy and Andy Maher since 2015.

Why did Dr Chris Brown leave I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here?

In February, Brown announced that he would be leaving Network Ten after this year’s season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here wrapped filming to head to rival Network Seven.

Dr Chris Brown. Instagram.

“What I’ll miss the most? Just turning up for work and not really knowing what has happened overnight and just getting excited to bring the craziness of that jungle life to the forefront,” Brown told MediaWeek after announcing his decision to leave.

“It’s been a very privileged front row seat to have and something that I’ll always treasure. And obviously standing alongside Julia has been amazing too.”

“I feel like every year we go to Africa and in the back of your mind, you’re thinking maybe it’s the last one, so at least for me there’s a degree of certainty around that and I can really try to really focus on enjoying it.”

Brown will be hosting Seven’s new series Dream Home, an inspiring new renovation competition that will see everyday Australians have their houses transformed, as well as a new, untitled adventure series.
Both shows will begin production later this year.

Rush Australia 2023: The fustercluck of episode one recapped in hilarious tweets

Chaotic new reality adventure series Rush has begun and episode one was a bit of a fustercluck for almost all of the contestants.

The fact that none of them knew each other prior to joining the show, paired with some of the contestants having next-to-no experience with international travel, certainly helped conjure up some drama.

Over on Twitter, Aussies were having a lol about some very questionable choices the cast made throughout the ep. Here are some of the best and funniest reactions:

Rush continues July 3 at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Rush 2023 Recap Episode One: The travellers complete their first mission in Brazil

It’s episode one of Rush, Australia’s newest global adventure series, and twelve Australians began their journey on a thrilling race around the world.

With the help of international supermodel and TV star David Genat (DG), the travellers were put into three teams, ready to move across nine different countries with one mission. Be the first to get to the Escape Zone and move on to the next destination.

During the July 2 episode, we met our contestants whose sight and hearing were taken away, before finding themselves at one of the most iconic events on earth. Rio Carnival in Brazil!

Contestants on Rush. Nine

The Teams

  • Team Navy: Madi, Sofia, Tylen and Tommy.
  • Team Gold: Lola, Priscilla, Saxon and CK.
  • Team Scarlet: Najmah, Fiona, Adam and Hamish.
Rush cast. Nine

The First Drop Zone

The countdown was on as the teams were dropped into Rio de Janeiro. 3,2,1… taking off their headphones, they were met with a sensory overload – the electric atmosphere of Rio Carnival buzzing around them.

Joining in with the festivities, they dance and laugh, with Madi from Team Navy realising that “we’re in Rio for Carnival”!

Nine

While immersing themselves in the fun, their watches ping with a message from host DG with a cryptic clue.

“Atop a mountain you’ll see a light. Redemption awaits, it’s a mesmerising sight,” he wrote.

The teams embark on a mission to track down DG at the iconic Christ the Redeemer.

Leading the pack with their impeccable teamwork, Team Scarlet triumphantly reach the destination first, armed with a dossier with information about the missions they need to complete and a stash of local currency.

“Tomorrow you must complete one mission at Rocinha Valley – play a game of soccer against the locals and score one goal,” David tells them.

Team Scarlet. Nine

Meanwhile, Team Navy, after some initial squabbling, manage to find DG, only to realise they’re a step behind Team Scarlet.

As for Team Gold, well, let’s just say they get caught up in a sticky situation when a taxi driver demands more moolah than they anticipated. Eventually, they find our Golden God, albeit being the last team to do so, putting them at the tail end of the race.

Day Two — Rocinha

Day two kicks off with all three teams setting off to complete their next mission!

Team Scarlet takes the lead once again, closely followed by Team Navy and then Team Gold.

They needed to track down Rio’s biggest favela, Rocinha, (an urban slum of over 150,000 people crammed into just two square kilometres) and tackle the locals in a thrilling game of soccer.

“It’s a bit scarier than we first initially thought, so stress levels were high,” Team Navy’s Tylen says.

With the game reigning supreme as Brazil’s national sport — and the favela’s notoriety for being a tad unwelcoming — these brave adventurers needed all the wit and charm they could muster.

Nine

Team Scarlet score a goal after being first to find the soccer field and make their way to Paraty, a coastal playground for Brazil’s rich and famous. Once there, they’re confident they’re in the lead by at least an hour, so they stop for some food.

Najmah doesn’t think they should be stopping, saying: “Right now everyone looks for food but the mission isn’t to look for food, the mission is to go and find the hotel to check in.”

But Teams Navy and Gold decided to catch a taxi, meaning they weren’t very far behind.

Hotel Check-In

Unfortunately, Najmah was right and Team Navy overtake Team Scarlet, being the first team to check in at the hotel. Team Gold — who were also starving — decided that food would set them back and they went straight to the hotel, with Team Scarlet finishing last.

Team Gold. Nine

“Being led by good old Hamish, I knew that something wasn’t right, my guts were telling me something bad was gonna happen and to fall from first to last place is devastating,” Najmah said in an on-camera interview. “That burger was not worth it.”

Fiona also knew they had made an error in judgement.

“We’ve made a big mistake, we probably should’ve got a taxi but if my aunty had balls she’d be my uncle,” she said. LOL.

The First Elimination

After winning the first leg, Team Scarlet was now trailing behind with the final dash to the Escape Zone at Paca Beach.

While Team Navy race on foot to get there, Team Gold are coming up behind them, but were not close enough to reach DG first.

For Team Scarlet, the hike along the beach proved difficulty, particularly for Najmah.

“I’m gonna need to be carried out of here on a stretcher,” she said.

Nine

Reaching DG last, the group were forced to choose who among them was going to be sent home.

Najmah nominated Adam due to his travelling inexperience; however, Hamish and Adam turn the tables on her and say that she should be the one to fall. Since they couldn’t come up with a unanimous decision, Fiona had to make the final call and nominates Najmah.

Upon reaching DG, Hamish says: “We tried to take the emotion out of it and just go strategy wise and based on that we voted out Naj.”

Najmah. Nine

Rush airs on Sunday at 7:00pm and continues Monday and Tuesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Dancing with the Stars Recap Episode 3: A shock walk-out and a perfect score rock the competition

It’s episode three of Dancing with the Stars Australia 2023 and it was certainly one for the history books as one competitor scored a perfect 40, while another walked away from the competition.

Home and Away’s Emily Weir reached for the stars with her emotionally charged contemporary dance routine, leaving the judges in awe.

Her powerful performance, inspired by her triumph over personal challenges, earned a perfect score and a standing ovation. Judge Craig Revel Horwood called it “Fab-u-lous!”, while Todd McKenney let his paddle do all the talking. It was an unforgettable moment!

Paulini Curunevali absolutely slayed her princess fantasy with a stunning Beauty and the Beast performance, earning 30 points from the Judges! Mark Wilson was impressed by the “delicate movement and elegance” of the dance.

Issa Shultz totally nailed it as Danny Zuko during his Jive to Grease Lightning. The audience went wild and the judges couldn’t help but jump in on the fun. Love. Him.

Comedian Mary Coustas found her edge with her Samba, dancing to Freedom! by George Michael.

And James Magnussen impressed the judges with a slow-motion lift in his heartfelt Cha Cha.

While an improvement on his first dance, Gavin Wanganeen landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with his punk-inspired Tango which scored him 20 points.

Food critic Matt Preston performed a Paso Doble with Craig saying he had seen “tombstones with more movement”, earning him a total of six points.

The final Leaderboard for the night:

  • Emily Weir and Lyu Masuda – 40
  • Paulini and Igor Ifliand – 30
  • James Magnussen and Natalie Lowe – 26
  • Mary Coustas and Aric Yegudkin – 26
  • Issa Shultz and Lily Cornish – 25
  • Gavin Wanganeen and Megan Wragg – 20
  • Matt Preston and Jess Raffa – 6

The dance-off

Matt shocked everyone by calling it quits after his “cooked” ankle injury sabotaged his dance moves. He voluntarily left the competition which ultimately cancelled the dance-off between himself and Gavin.

What a ride!

How Zoolander changed Rush host David Genat’s life in the most spectacular way

You may know David Genat as the “Golden God” from Australian Survivor or his turn on The Celebrity Apprentice and now he’s at the helm of Nine’s new big adventure reality TV series, Rush.

While he’s been on our screens since his debut on Survivor in 2019 and subsequent win on Survivor All-Stars in 2020, having an international modelling career or being a TV personality, may have never happened if it wasn’t for a cheeky practical joke that changed everything.

Speaking to Chattr before the premiere of his new show, Genat revealed that his first foray into TV on 2011’s Search for a Supermodel began as a dare, and it was completely Zoolander inspired.

“A buddy of mine dared me to do a Zoolander impression at this casting for the show,” he said. “And so me, being a consummate idiot, I was like, ‘That’s a great idea’. So, I went and pretended to be Zoolander on this runway catwalk show and it basically got me through all these rounds.”

The series also saw the rise of models Gemma WardNicole Trunfio and Pia Miller, all of which have gone on to see major international success.

David Genat. Ten/Instagram.

At first, Genat questioned whether modelling was an “actual job”; however, once the show had ended, he was given a contract with Ford Models in New York, proving to him, that in fact, it was all real.

“It just kind of turned into this big, big career for me,” he said. “I’d had that television experience and I think TV was just something I wanted to do.”

After his supermodel status had been cemented, Genat then looked to acting as another career path, but a conversation with Sarah Tilleke, who appeared in season two of Australian Survivor, saw him take a different route.

“Sarah and I had been working together and she was just going on about how much she loved Australian Survivor and they were looking for a male model and it kind of came down to that,” he said.

Ten

David Genat had applied for other TV Show hosting gigs

Even though he is now a host of a brand-new series, Genat had actually auditioned for other gigs on TV; however, says that Rush is a “dream project“.

“I’ve auditioned for shows previously and looked for hosting gigs here and there,” he admitted. “And then when this gig [Rush] came up, that’s the one where I was like, ‘Oh, I want that. I want that so bad’.”

Luckily the stars aligned and he was offered the plum gig, travelling with the contestants to nine different countries across the globe. Not only that, but he got to live it up at some of the largest cultural festivals in the world including Tomorrowland in Belgium, Brazil’s Rio Carnaval and even visited a call to prayer at 5 am in one of the world’s oldest mosques in Istanbul.

As for the competitors, they had “sensory deprivation” by way of blackout goggles, noise cancelling headphones and they were held in unknown locations, before being “dropped into a cultural event”.

“We’re really bringing those kinds of cultural festive elements to it,” he said. “And it was so powerful, man. Like being there and seeing that. It was just incredible. An incredible experience.”

Rush premieres at 7.00 pm on July 2 on 9 and 9Now.

Listen to the full interview with David Genat on Mediaweek and Chattr’s The Entertainment Hotline podcast from Monday, July 3.

FBoy Island’s Vernon has some explaining to do after ex Brogen spills on Abbie Chatfield’s poddy

In the FBoy Island Australia finale, contestant Vernon Lyon was exposed as the ultimate FBoy when his ex-girlfriend Brogen Cheek showed up and aired out his dirty laundry.

In the episode, she revealed that Vernon told her that he was going on the show in an attempt to win the cash prize, and would try to get back with her after filming wrapped.

“I have a text message on my phone, saying that I’m going there to lie and bulls**t for three weeks and win cash and then when he’s finished here he said he will come out and get me back,” Brogen told his TV love interest Molly O’Halloran and showed her the messages.

Now, she’s dished even more dirt during a chat on Abbie Chatfield’s podcast It’s A Lot With Abbie Chatfield and the tea she spilled was most certainly… a lot.

Check out some of the best tidbits from Brogen below:

How did Brogen and Vernon meet?

“We met at a nightclub. So romantic. He kind of came up to me and he was talking my ear off about how amazing I was and said my smile was the most beautiful smile he’s ever seen in his life.”

Were they in love?

“He told me he loved me within like three weeks [of meeting me]…Pretty much after four times he had met me he said, ‘I love you’ in a bath. It was in a bath.”

Vernon. Instagram.

Were they in an official relationship?

“Maybe two weeks after [he told me he loved me] he was in hospital, he did something to his wrist and I went and saw him and gave him some presents. I was trying to make him feel better.

“And then we went for a walk and he asked me to be his girlfriend at the hospital.”

Was the relationship genuine?

“It was intense from my point of view because I loved him so much, I loved him a lot. He’s a lot to deal with as you guys can all see [on the show]. So it was really fun for me. It was really exciting.”

Brogen. Instagram.

Did he cheat on Brogen?

“When we would fight, he would go out and post these things [of other women] to get a reaction out of me. Then one night, the next morning I went through his phone and saw recently deleted messages of him speaking to this girl, like sexting her.

“He was in the bathroom. I think he was brushing his teeth when I found it. And then I was really quiet in the other room so he knew I was doing something. And he runs in, I have his phone in my hand and he knew exactly what I had just seen.”

Were Vernon and Brogen serious?

“I broke up with him [after finding out about the cheating]. Then I went to work and came back to my house and there was a big bouquet of flowers at my door with a lovely note saying, ‘I want to marry you’. I want you to be the mother of my kids.”

Vernon and Molly on FBoy Island
Molly and Vernon. Instagram.

When did they break up?

“We broke up first of Feb… I got a text message from him saying ‘I’ve just been invited to go to FBoy Island. I’ll be going on as an F boy and I’m just there to win cash.'”

Is he single now?

“He struggles a lot to be by himself. If he’s out of a relationship, he’s in a new one, two weeks after. He is in one right now as well.”

Molly added, “[She] seems really lovely from all reports. I’ve had a chat with her and I’ve had a chat with him.”

Is Vernon really that good at going down on women?

Molly and Brogen on Abbie's podcast

Brogen: “No”.

Molly: “No, A for effort though. He likes being there, he enjoys what he does.”

Some sneaky pap shots have confirmed who’ll be appearing in The Real Housewives of Sydney cast

The Real Housewives of Sydney is returning after a five-year hiatus, and some sneaky pap shots have revealed who will be amongst the cast members.

Yahoo Lifestyle published photos of OG RHOS queen Krissy Marsh filming scenes in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. In the pics, she can be seen training with popular influencer PT Jono Castano.

Binge hasn’t officially confirmed the housewives who will be starring in the show yet. However, a report published in Woman’s Day said that along with Marsh, three other women have been locked in. There’s also a bunch of Sydney socialites who are rumoured to join the reality show.

Who else will be appearing in the Real Housewives of Sydney reboot?

Sally Obermeder

Word on the street is that former The Daily Edition journalist Sally Obermeder has been confirmed at one of the upcoming season’s Housewives.

Terry Biviano

Earlier this month, The Daily Telegraph reported that Terry Biviano caused chaos with producers while filming scenes for The Real Housewives of Sydney reboot.

Nicole O’Neil

Former Miss Australia Nicole O’Neil was on season one of the reality TV show, and will apparently be returning.

Who’s rumoured to join The Real Housewives of Sydney?

Amy Castano

As discussed earlier, Amy Castano’s ex-husband and business partner Jono was spotted filming scenes for the show with Krissy, which raised the question about whether she’d be involved. Interestingly, she and her soccer player boyfriend Aaron Evans were also spotted by the shoot, which suggests a big resounding yes.

Linda Rogan

It’s been rumoured that Double Bay beauty shop owner Linda Rogan will be joining the ladies this season. It’s been reported that Linda is set to butt heads with Krissy Marsh.

Melissa Hoyer

Esteemed journalist Melissa Hoyer was spotted screen testing for the show alongside Sally Obermeder and Terry Biviano earlier this year.

Vanessa Jacobs Fennell

Vanessa Jacobs Fennell regularly fundraises for charity and is somewhat of a Sydney socialite, meaning she’s the perfect fit for The Real Housewives of Sydney. Furthermore, her Instagram has been set to private and she’s following RHOS alum Nicole.

The Real Housewives of Sydney will stream exclusively on Binge.

Margot Robbie reveals whether CGI was used in *that* ICONIC Barbie shoe scene

The internet was sent into a tizzy over Margot Robbie’s perfectly arched feet when the full-length Barbie trailer dropped earlier this year.

Are they really Robbie’s feet? How did she keep them so perfectly arched? And, why is she giving away free foot content? Were (probably) a few of the questions circulating on social media.

Now, we finally have the answer to the truly perplexing question.

Did the Barbie movie use CGI on Margot Robbie’s feet?

Nope! According to the star herself, it’s Robbie’s own feet in their full glory. However, the actress revealed that a few tricks were used to make the viral scene flawless.

“Yes, it is me. No, it’s no special effects. You’d be amazed how few special effects there are in this film, actually,” Robbie said during an appearance on The Project alongside the movie’s director Greta Gerwig.

“We didn’t do that many takes of it, a couple of takes, and I kind of held onto a bar so that I was steady. We just put double-sided tape on the floor so that my shoes would stay still. I did have a pedicure that morning.”

Gerwig added: “There was a big discussion at the beginning where everyone said ‘Are you going to CGI on all the feet?’ And I thought, ‘Oh god, that’s terrifying. No, that’s a nightmare’. I was like, ‘She has the nicest feet!'”

“No she does, she has these beautiful dancer feet.”

Who’s in the Barbie movie?

Along with Robbie, who is also an executive producer on the film, there’s a host of big names starring in Barbie.

Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, and Simu Liu will take on lead roles and they’ll be joined by America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Dua Lipa, and Helen Mirren, as well as a bunch of other A-listers.

Where can I watch the trailer?

Right here!

Barbie premieres in cinemas nationwide on July 20.

MasterChef Recap Episode 39: Theo plays Beat the Chef as the final Immunity Pin was up for grabs

It’s episode 39 of MasterChef Australia 2023 and the final Immunity Pin of the season was up for grabs.

Tonight, the two winning pairs, Declan and Brent and Theo and Malissa from Wednesday’s service challenge triumphantly returned to the kitchen to cook for a guaranteed spot in the top five plus given the chance to win the last gold pin.

This Immunity Challenge was all about sound and the Judges wanted the cooks to tap into the sound that make them feel something when they eat.

For round one, the contestants had 60 minutes to create a dish with a sound that made the judges salivate. The cook who produced the best dish would then win a guaranteed spot in the top five, plus a chance to cook in round two for the final immunity pin of the season.

Round two saw the winning contestant go head-to-head with a professional chef, Chase Kojima. They both had two pantries to choose from, including One pantry that had lots of ingredients, but a limited amount of cooking equipment; and the other pantry had limited ingredients but lots of cooking equipment.

Round two pantry. Ten

Round One

Brent cooked a Chilli Crab Tostada with a Lychee Orange Salsa, hoping for a “crunch”.

Jock Zonfrillo said it had a “big crunch” but the flavours weren’t as “big” as he usually brings. While guest judge Shannon Bennett said it put a smile on his face.

Brent’s dish. Ten

Malissa was up next and she presented a Frozen Mousse with Popping Candy, Tuile and Roasted Figs. Her sounds were “pop” and “snap”!

Jock said it was great fun while Andy Allen said the “technique” was great. Unfortunately, it wasn’t “super delicious” and Melissa Leong said she could have done “a little bit more”.

Malissa’s dish.

Declan then showed off his Sizzling Pepper Steak which delighted the Judges with a cracking sizzle.

While it was good, Mel said that he needed to elevate the dish and Shannon said that it didn’t come together.

Declan’s dish. Ten

Theo was last, hoping to deliver a “crunch”. He presented Kangaroo with Crispy Betel Leaf.

The crunch was loud and “crispy” and Andy called it “so good”, calling it “one of the tastiest things we’ve had all year!” He applauded him for his brain working “at a different level”.

Melissa called it a “cracking concept” and Shannon loved it while Jock gave him a well-earned round of applause.

“It makes me happy, happy, happy,” Jock added.

Theo’s dish. Ten

The first member of the Top 5 and playing in round two was Theo.

Round Two

In Round Two, Theo partook in the final Beat the Chef opposite Chef Chase Kojima. Theo chose more ingredients with less equipment.

During the judging, chef Chase’s dish was delivered blind to the judges first. It was Surf and Surf with a Bonito Tataki with a Moreton Bay Bug Tempura.

Andy called it a “very unique dish”, Jock loved the Passionfruit Dressing calling it “brilliant”; however, Andy thought the Bug wasn’t crunchy. While Melissa said it’s “not a perfect plate of food”.

Chef Chase’s dish. Ten

Next up was Theo’s Mexican Pork with Pineapple Salsa.

The Judges thought it smelled “pretty epic” and Andy thought the salsa was a “stand-out”; however, Jock said there were “a lot of strong flavours in the sauce”. He thought there could be “20% less ingredients” in there.

The Verdict

Chef Chase’s score:

  • Andy – 7/10
  • Melissa – 7/10
  • Jock – 7/10

Final score: 21/30

Theo’s score:

  • Jock – 7/10
  • Andy – 7/10
  • Melissa – 6/10

Final score: 20/30

This meant that Theo was unsuccessful in winning the final Immunity Pin; however, he has become the first contestant in the Top 5.

MasterChef Australia airs Sunday – Thursday at 7.30pm on 10 and 10Play.

Tips to secure a ticket to Taylor Swift’s Australia tour because we know All Too Well how hard it is

While the upcoming Taylor Swift Australia tour is most certainly a good thing, the caveat is that tickets are ridiculously hard to get.

If your following on Instagram is anything like mine, then you’ve probably seen IG story after IG story of Swifites virtually waiting in the Ticketek line to secure pre-sale Eras tickets this week, only to leave the site empty-handed. And, with the general sale for Taylor Swift tickets opening on Jun 30, it’s likely to be another figurative blood bath for Swifites.

So, to help you get your hot little hands on one of those coveted tickets, we’ve popped together five tips that should increase your chances.

Taylor Swift. Instagram.

 1. Sign in to your Ticketek account

Once you’re in, make sure your payment details are updated so that you can make the process smoother, and won’t get cut off by the timer.

2. Only use one browser at a time

Don’t use multiple browsers in the hope that it will increase your chances of getting through the waiting lounge. There’s a chance this might actually decrease your chances of getting through.

“To help speed up your sale process we do not recommend having multiple browsers/windows/tabs open or attempting to log in via multiple devices,” the Ticketek FAQ reads.

3. Use a Ticketek account that you’ve used to purchase tickets before

Take this one with a grain of salt, but social media users believe that an established Ticketek account has a better chance of making it out of the waiting lounge and into the ticket purchasing section.

“If you’ve made previous Ticketek purchases you have a higher chance of being selected – Ticketek clearly knows you’re not a bot,” an Instagram user claimed.

“It definitely depends on if you’ve made another Ticketek purchase. It affects your cookies,” said a second.

Taylor Swift. Instagram.

4. Don’t use your work internet

Ticketek identifies customers by their IP addresses. This is done to ensure fairness so that one person doesn’t end up with a lot of tickets. So, if someone else (like a co-worker) has purchased a ticket on the work internet, then you won’t be prioritised in the queue.

If you don’t have the option to use your home wifi, you can always hotspot your phone, which will have its own individual IP address.

5. Be quick with payment once you’re through to the purchase page

When you get through to the ticket page, make sure you make the payment process, er, swift because there’s a time limit.

“Once they’re through they need to remember to keep an eye on the timer and complete their purchase within the time frame,” A Tiketek spokesperson told The Guardian.

Taylor Swift. Instagram.

So there you have it, somewhat of a solution to the Champagne Problems of not being able to get your hands on a Taylor Swift pre-sale ticket.

Tickets for the Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras tour go on sale for the general public on June 30 via Ticketek.

The one thing Kim Cattrall demanded in order to appear as Samantha Jones in And Just Like That

Sex and The City fans collectively lost their s**t when it was announced that Kim Cattrall had finally agreed to star as Samantha Jones in And Just Like That.

After said stans collected themselves, there was one burning question that most were pondering, how the hell did HBO get Kim Cattrall to return, given that she has been locked in a savage feud with her former Sex And The City co-star Sarah Jessica Parker for yonks now.

Welp, Cattrall has finally revealed on Live TV what she needed to agree to come back as her infamous character, and TBH, it really wasn’t all that outlandish.

What did Kim Cattrall demand in order to come back as Samantha Jones?

During an appearance on the talk show The View, Cattrall said that there were a few requirements she asked for before agreeing to return for a cameo, but only shared one of them.

“It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, ‘What can we do?’ And I went, ‘Hmm…,’” Cattrall said. “Let me get creative and one of those things was to get Pat Field [stylist] back because I just thought that if I’m going to come back I gotta come back with that Samantha style, I gotta push it and we did.”

Field famously dressed the characters on Sex And The City, but notably didn’t return for the reboot.

“The main reason was a time conflict. I wasn’t able to be in New York doing that and be in Paris doing Emily in Paris,” she previously told WWD.

“But I told them to call my very dear friend Molly Rogers, who also worked in my store back in the day. She did Sex and the City with me from start to finish. She knew it well so she’s doing it. My dance card was full.”

Patricia Field and Kim Cattrall. The View.

Did Kim Cattrall film scenes with the other And Just Like That actors?

Apparently not! Charlotte York’s (Kristin Davis) hubby Harry (Evan Handler) told People that he only heard of Cattrall’s return when it was publicly announced.

“I think it [her return] is great. I do,” he said. “Apparently, [her cameo] was shot in the garage somewhere with no contact with anybody, so the only place I have to welcome her is into my living room when it airs on television.”

MasterChef Recap Episode 38: O(h) my! The final six compete in a fresh produce Service Challenge

It’s episode 38 of MasterChef Australia 2023 and the top six — Cath, Malissa, Brent, Declan, Rhiannon and Theo — were divided into three teams of two.

In their pairings, the cooks had to first pick an ingredient from the beautiful farm that supplies produce to the two-hatted restaurant, O.MY before they were allocated a course to feature the ingredient at the eatery.

Each team then had a 15-minute briefing with chef Blayne Bertoncello followed by two hours to cook their course for 16 diners, plus Judges Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen.

The two teams that cooked the best dishes progressed into Thursday’s Immunity Challenge, cooking for a guaranteed spot in the top five, plus the last Immunity Pin of the season.

Grey Team: Cath and Rhiannon

Green Team: Brent and Declan

Brown Team: Theo and Malissa

The Teams. Ten

What they decided to cook

Declan and Brent chose Tomatoes and were allocated dessert while Cath and Rhiannon’s Kaffir Lime got mains and Malissa and Theo picked entree for their Blue Spiced Basil.

First to have their one-on-one time with chef Blayne, Theo and Malissa decided to work on a Raviolo filled with Blue Spice Basil with Ricotta and Herbs and a vegetable broth.

Rhiannon and Cath were up next, telling chef Blayne they wanted to make a Seafood Curry with oil out of the leaves.

Finally, Brent and Declan decided on…”Ummmm”…struggling to think on their feet, Declan came up with a Panna Cotta with Tomato, Basil and Strawberries with a Balsamic Glaze and a Tomato Granita.

The Cook and the Judging

All of the teams struggled with a lot to do, with Declan and Brent deciding to add honey and black garlic to their Panna Cotta. Stressed they couldn’t taste everything all together before service, they had to hope for the best.

As the diners arrived, Malissa and Theo were still making their Raviolo; however, were able to serve a stunning dish.

The presented a Ricotta and Basil Raviolo with Vegetable Broth and Blue Spiced Basil Oil.

Both Jock and Andy “really liked” it and could picture it being on the menu at O.My.

“It’s unbelievable,” Andy said.

Malissa and Theo’s dish. Ten

Next up were Cath and Rhiannon who were yet to cook their fish. Andy popped into the kitchen to move them along, but they were panicking.

Surprising herself, Rhiannon managed to plate up the dish which was then sent to Andy and Jock. They were presented with Flathead with Seasonal Vegetables, Kaffir Lime Oil and a Curry Broth.

Andy said they’d shown “restraint” and the fish was cooked perfectly and Jock loved the flavours.

Rhiannon and Cath’s dish. Ten

Meanwhile, Declan was nervous about de-moulding the Panna Cotta which wasn’t coming out of its shell. He realised too late that he hadn’t sprayed the tray.

Once completed by Brent’s “tiny welder hands”, the Judges were presented with Tomato Honey Panna Cotta with Strawberry and Tomato Granita and a Black Garlic Glaze.

Jock called it “unusual” and “ballsy” and Andy thought it was “interesting… in a great way”. They both agreed it was a “clever” dish and had “hit the brief”.

Declan and Brent’s dish. Ten

The Verdict

The dish of the day went to Theo and Malissa’s entree while Declan and Brent, who had the “hardest” task of the day, also wowed the Judges. All four are going to play for the final Immunity Pin and a guaranteed spot in the final five.

MasterChef Australia airs Sunday – Thursday at 7.30pm on 10 and 10Play.

FBoy Island Australia 2023: Molly and Nick awkwardly reveal whether they’ve said “I love you”

Molly O’Halloran and Nick Brown are one of two couples that have surprisingly lasted since the filming of FBoy Island Australia 2023 wrapped.

The couple built a connection during the very first episode of FBoy Island but despite the fact that filming wrapped months ago, the reality TV couple have only just said “I love you” to one another.

“We have said it. It took us took us a lot longer than it took those two,” Molly told Chattr, referring to co-stars Ziara Rae and Izaya Leota.

“We have only very, very recently said it,” she added, while Nick stayed quiet.

Molly and Nick. Instagram.

Nick then explained that he held back his feelings during filming because he was worried that Molly wouldn’t pick him.

“Especially in the last episode, I had no idea that it was going to be me when,” he said before adding: “We both really liked each other. I was being really careful with what I said. I didn’t want to put myself out there too much to sort of potentially get let down. I was a bit guarded, but so was she.”

Molly also agreed that she wasn’t fully vulnerable with Nick during filming, either.

“I thought, you know, potentially after this show he might be a different person and not the guy that I thought he was.”

Are Molly and Nick still together?

Molly and Nick. Instagram.

Yes! Molly and Nick are currently in a long-distance relationship, but the Occupational Therapist has plans to move to Sydney to be with Nick.

“We’ve got a couple of trips booked as well, but then hopefully moving a little bit closer. I have definitely been looking at the job market up in Sydney to just see what’s out there,” she said.

Who else is still together from FBoy Island?

Two out of the three couples are still in a relationship. Aside from Molly and Nick, Ziara and Izaya are still happily together.

“We’ve been so excited. Obviously, we haven’t done anything like the normal boyfriend/girlfriend would do. We haven’t been to restaurants or movies, nothing like that,” Ziara told Chattr.

Ziara and Izaya. Instagram.

“We came off the island and it was like, ‘What is your favourite colour?’ We just completely jumped the gun because you’re in this completely different environment where emotions are so high,” she admitted.

“So we’ve just been using the time to really get to know each other and spend as much time together as possible and I am so excited to be able to show him off finally.”

However, Sophie Blackley and Joshy Allen split up shortly after filming on the reality show wrapped. Check out more details about FBoy Island Australia, including when the season two finale will air.

Million Dollar Island recap episode 7: 12 thoughts I had watching Log Camp whinge about food

It’s Million Dollar Island Australia 2023 episode seven and the richest person on the Island Corey is back in charge of elimination picks.

This week, only players who have a single wristband can be eliminated. Log Camp is in charge, but going by the amount they’re complaining about the lack of food they have, I’m questioning if they’ll have the brainpower to strategically pick nominations.

Here are 12 thoughts I had during episode three of Million Dollar Island Australia, episode seven!

1. Corey’s in charge and his camp keep talking about how hungry they are. Call me crazy but what if he gave immunity to players in exchange for food? Have I cracked the code!?! Put me on that island, stat.

2. Oh wow, we’re six minutes in and I called it already. Although I admit the host Ant did clue me in with his narration.

Million Dollar Island
Corey talking about food. Seven.

3. Top Camp ain’t about sharing their food. But they will have all the food they desire if they’re eliminated, so they may as well just give some up and stay safe in the game IMO.

4. For once, I agree with Brett. Log Camp should stop whinging about not having food and just do something about it.

Million Dollar Island
Brett has this much sympathy for the hungry people at Log Camp. Seven.

5. Oh wow, Brett is going to be p-i-s-s-e-d because his camp members decided to share some of their food in exchange for promised immunity.

6. Of course, Corey stuck to his word and keep all of Log Camp safe because of their food deal. What a snoozefest.

The elimination challenge

7. Wow these people suck at the challenge, more than half got the first question wrong. No wonder they only have (had?) one wristband.

Million Dollar Island
Chaos. Seven.

8. I can never understand why people say “me” instead of “my”. Like, it takes the same time to say both words? I’m looking at you, Jack.

9. Ummm, what’s wrong with the colour of Yasmin’s legs? You should probably tap out now, girl.

Yasmin’s purple/red legs. Seven.

Survival challenge and elimination

10. Oooohh the winner not only gets to stay, but also gets a huge box of food? My money is on Log Camp now because those people want some tucker BAD.

11. Jack has a lot of products on his list… but Matches?! I dunno about that Jack. Wishful thinking.

Jack’s list. Seven.

12. Jack wins and I guess I’m going to have to endure some more “me” slang in coming episodes. Le sigh.

Million Dollar Island Australia continues on July 3 at 7.30pm on 7 and 7Plus.

Praise be! The guys behind The Betoota Advocate Presents reveal season 2 is “all but confirmed”

Hold onto your Akubras because it looks like season two of the Paramount+ Original Series The Betoota Advocate is coming!

During an interview with Mediaweek and Chattr’s The Entertainment Hotline podcast, Editors at Large Errol Parker (Charles Single) and Clancy Overell (Archer Hamilton) revealed that the streaming service was ready to green-light another instalment of the show.

“Paramount+ have all but to confirm that there will be a second season,” Overell admitted, before giving an inside scoop on what we can expect.

“I think we might push it out a bit more,” he said. “Obviously this season tells a lot of wild stories from Queensland and the 1980s and early 2000s Sydney. I reckon we could have a lot of fun in the backcountry of Tasmania.

“I reckon there are a lot of stories that haven’t been told in Western Australia. They sit there, they get away with a lot. You know what I mean? Who the hell knows what’s happened in Western Australia over the years.”

Clancy Overell (Archer Hamilton) and Errol Parker (Charles Single). Paramount+

How does The Betoota Advocate get their controversial topics approved?

So far, the series has covered the rise and fall of Hillsong, the Super League War and on June 28, the Cronulla Riots, where the co-hosts will take us through a day in 2005 when the beachside suburb made international headlines, while even putting Australia on the don’t travel to list.

Given that the topics they cover in the Paramount+ Original Series — and on their highly popular Instagram The Betoota Advocate — are often controversial, both Parker and Overell admit that lawyers are heavily involved.

“Legally speaking, we’ve got lawyers who will tell us what is illegal and what will result in people getting sued,” Overell said while adding that as far as tastefulness goes, they “bounce that off each other.”

“You need a diverse group of people to do that with, you can’t just have a bunch of blokes saying, ‘I think everyone will find that funny’. You should ask around a little bit, which is what we do.”

Even though it’s hard to comprehend otherwise, Overell said that they’re not “aiming to narrate people’s lives”, even if it can feel that way.

“What that tells us when people have that response is, well, your life is very similar to the people we write about, or indeed ourselves.”

MasterChef Recap Episode 37: A 134-step Pressure Test proves too much for one cook

It’s episode 37 of MasterChef Australia 2023 and an elimination Pressure Test saw one fan-favourite leave the competition.

During the episode, international trailblazer, three-time Michelin star and three-hatted chef, Clare Smyth tasked Rue, Malissa and Cath to cook a dish straight from her menu at her Sydney restaurant, Oncore — the Beef and Oyster.

Inspired by a beef, oyster and Irish stout pie and given that there were a whopping 134 steps, it was extremely challenging to replicate and the contestant that plated up the dish least like Clare’s was sent home.

Ten.

The Cook

While Rue and Malissa managed to stay on top of the finicky recipe from the start, Cath struggled, making the first error. Instead of melting the fat for the beef sauce over low heat, she burnt hers, which forced her to start again.

As the clock ticked down and the seared wagyu component waiting to be cooked, Cath faced a tough decision: risk it all and go for both the steak and oyster crisp, or just nail the steak and hope for the best and guided by her intuition, she gave it her all to complete that oyster emulsion.

Cath. Ten

Rue powered through her first Pressure Test of the season; however, during the two hours, she encountered hiccups, with her salty reduced ragu sauce being the biggest disappointment.

Thanks to her quick thinking, she used vinegar to balance it, but due to multitasking, continued to make small missteps along the way. With time running out, she knew her oyster sauce consistency wasn’t quite right before realising too late that she had forgotten her raw wagyu slices to wrap around the poached oyster.

Rue. Ten

Malissa, who has been in her fair share of elimination cooks, found her groove during the cook and was determined not to use her Immunity Pin.

She did her best to trust herself throughout the cook; however, towards the end, her nerves got the better of her and with just seconds to spare she decided to play the pin, making her way to the safety of the gantry.

Malissa. Ten

The Judging

Upon tasting, it looked like Rue had almost nailed it, but didn’t quite get there. The Judges and Clare commended her for delivering almost the whole dish.

While her pie mix was on point, the wagyu was slightly under-caramelised and undercooked and the beef and oyster sauce was a bit too runny.

Rue’s dish. Ten

Cath’s sauce was hailed for its consistency and glossiness, compared to Rue’s and her oyster emulsion was also top-tier in flavour and texture.

Cath’s dish. Ten

The Verdict

Although both dishes lacked an element, only the sauce set them apart, with Cath’s most resembling Clare’s original which meant Rue was eliminated from the competition.

MasterChef Australia airs Sunday – Thursday at 7.30pm on 10 and 10Play.
