Wyatt has quickly become one of the most divisive personalities ever cast on The Block, but is he just misunderstood? His family has a lot to say.
Last week, a nasty argument unfolded over dirty dishes. Jolene’s frustration with Chantel and Wyatt boiled over after the couple repeatedly cleaned only their own dishes after family dinners before heading to the gym. Fed up with what she saw as their lack of effort around the shared house, Jolene threw Wyatt’s half-full protein powder in the bin and left Chantel’s dirty bowl on the bench with a note telling them to clean up after themselves.
Chantel quickly suspected Jolene was responsible, while Wyatt realised his protein powder had been deliberately dumped. The latest feud follows the contestants frequently mocking how often Wyatt leaves the worksite to go to the gym. This petty kitchen drama further intensified tensions between the teams and now Wyatt and Chantel’s family want to set the record straight.
In an exclusive with Chattr, Wyatt’s sister, Indii Violett, said that her brother’s gym use is not just a way to keep fit, but an integral part of his type 1 diabetes management plan.
“It’s pretty unfair the way they carry on with him about the gym because it’s kind of not something he can help,” Indii told Chattr. “Exercise and diet are super important to him because they’re his main tools in managing it,” she said.
“It’s not just about fitness and aesthetics. It’s actually his primary treatment plan… everyone seems so blown away that he goes to the gym so often. And if they actually understood where he’s at, I don’t think they’d be that upset about it.”
Indii went on to explain how this affects Wyatt’s ability to go out drinking with his co-stars at the pub, which has become a point of contention between the teams. “He can’t drink. There’s a lot of sugar in alcohol… it would be no good for his health. He’s in his groove. He does his thing. This is managing his diabetes,” she said.
Wyatt’s sister went on to admit she recognises there’s a double standard at play. “A while ago he made a comment about Lisa sleeping, and I think people took that completely wrong. He wasn’t giving her drama for sleep. She has every right to sleep. She’s pregnant. What he meant was no one’s questioning her because she’s pregnant. She needs to nap. He has type one diabetes, and the gym is his management plan. We shouldn’t be questioning him needing to go to the gym.”
Overall, Indii hasn’t been thrilled watching her brother’s portrayal as a stereotypical ‘gym bro’ on The Block. “He’s not just an asshole or just doesn’t want to hang out with people. It’s a struggle for him, and he’s trying to look after his health. I really don’t think the show has any right to portray it that way,” she concluded.
Chantel’s sister Tijana Bundalo also defended Wyatt’s edit. “I understand he has gotten upset at a few things but in my opinion it has been valid, especially when you have the context that they don’t air on the show and what actually happened behind closed doors,” she told Chattr.
“He is kind, thoughtful, considerate and has gone above and beyond for Chantel and taking on three children that aren’t his own.”
Wyatt’s family defend him against Jolene on The Block
Wyatt’s sister Indii Violett spoke about her reaction to Jolene’s revenge act. “It was pretty outrageous,” she said. “I could be wrong, but it’s not a normal way to respond to someone leaving a bowl in a sink, especially when it’s not even Wyatt’s bowl.”

Indii went on to explain that Wyatt’s protein powder serves a higher purpose for his health. “Something I think people don’t understand with Wyatt is that he self-manages his diabetes, so he doesn’t have an insulin pump, which means exercise and diet are super important to him because they’re his main tools in managing it,” she continued.
“Not meeting his protein requirements, which he uses the protein powder to do… decreases muscle mass, which means his body can’t store as much glucose, and his blood sugar can spike and become much harder to control.”
This makes Jolene’s actions much more serious. “For her to tip that out is actually detrimental to his health, which is why I find it so wild,” Indii added.
However, Indii did want to clarify that she was unsure whether Jolene was aware of the important role that protein played in Wyatt’s health regimen. “I don’t think Jolene fully understood why he’s the way he is with certain things or why he needs protein powder,” she said.
Chantel’s sister Tijana Bundalo echoed Indii’s sentiments that Wyatt’s condition is misunderstood on The Block. “Jolene tipping out Wyatt’s protein powder was inappropriate and insensitive to Wyatt’s disability. The way he eats and prioritises his health helps with his type 1 diabetes and from what I can see, helps him live a relatively normal life without health consequences,” she said.
“I have witnessed Wyatt inject his insulin in the kitchen every single day, after every single meal. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to have to do that, just to stay on the good side of health,” she continued.
“I feel really disappointed with the way Wyatt’s character is being portrayed. I have lived with Wyatt for a while now and he is the biggest teddy bear.”
It’s unclear how much information has been shared with The Block cast about Wyatt’s diabetes, but Courtney has previously defended Wyatt, telling Chattr there is more to his ‘health obsession’ than meets the eye.
The Block viewers react to Jolene tipping out Wyatt’s protein powder
The backlash to Jolene’s protein powder stunt on The Block 2026 was swift, with viewers accusing her of taking her feud with Chantel and Wyatt too far.
Some viewers slammed the decision online, with one writing: “Throwing away the powder is childish behaviour and no way to be holding the high ground.” Another argued on Reddit that Jolene should have confronted the couple directly rather than “throwing out the protein powder and leaving the note”.
However, some viewers still sympathised with Jolene’s original frustration, arguing Chantel and Wyatt should have contributed more to cleaning the communal areas in their shared home.
The Block airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
