Wyatt has found himself under fire from The Block 2026 viewers after making a surprisingly honest admission about his long-term plans beyond the renovation competition.
During Tuesday night’s episode, Wyatt and Chantel were driving home when the conversation turned to what they hoped to gain from competing on The Block. After Chantel called her children to check in, the couple sat down for a producer interview where they were asked what motivated them to sign up for the show.
For Chantel, the answer was straightforward. She explained that her biggest dream is to use any prize money to buy a home for herself and her children, saying she wants to build a better future for them and finally enjoy the financial security she’s worked towards after struggling as a single mum.
Wyatt’s answer took a different direction.
Rather than focusing on the cash prize, he said what he really wants is freedom — enough financial independence to spend his days doing what he enjoys instead of working to survive.
However, things took another turn when a producer asked him about his ambitions outside The Block.
Given he’d previously spoken about wanting to become an actor, Wyatt was asked again why he’d chosen to go on the show.
He admitted appearing on national television could give him the profile boost he’d need if he decided to pursue acting seriously, explaining that more public exposure would only help open doors in the industry. Even so, he maintained that freedom remained his ultimate goal.

The Block fans react to Wyatt’s acting goals
Wyatt’s comments quickly made their way to Reddit, where viewers accused him of using The Block as a stepping stone to fame rather than focusing on the renovation competition.
A scathing Reddit post has accused the couple of faking their relationship to get onto the show.
“I don’t think Wyatt and Chantel are actually in a relationship, it’s all for show,” the user wrote. “I think Chantel has a genuine want to gain money/following for the sake of her kids, but the man child wanted some kind of ‘fame’ so he can become an influencer.”
“Yes he only wants to be an actor,” another user commented on the post.
“People are finally waking up to why people go on these shows, to hopefully get noticed and given slots in other shows,” another opined.
“After tonight’s response from Wyatt about wanting exposure for his acting career and her reaction, I agree…” wrote another person.
One fan pointed out: “When he said tonight he wanted to be an actor, I laughed so hard”, to which another replied: “He genuinely thinks he will be the next Dave Bautista.”
Prior to the season airing, insiders told Daily Mail Australia that the couple broke up between the time when filming wrapped earlier this year and when the show started airing in August.
“Their break-up was one of the worst-kept secrets on the Gold Coast,” a Gold Coast source told the publication. “People were talking about it well before filming started.”
Speaking exclusively to Chattr, Chantel insisted the rumour is nonsense and the pair are still together.
“Wyatt and I are still very much together, and it’s so funny that it’s such a huge fascination. We have no desire to break up anytime soon,” she said.
The Block airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
