Gold Coast personal trainer Wyatt has found himself in the firing line with The Block viewers on Monday night after a painful tooth left his partner Chantel doing much of the heavy lifting during the opening stages of the main bedroom and walk-in robe week.
“Everyone is doing something, except for House 2,” Foreman Dan said on Monday’s episode. This began the saga of Wyatt’s Sore Tooth, with producers telling the contestant to go to the dentist because he’d been complaining about his tooth for several days.
To this, he replied: “I think the dentist is a waste of money…. they want to take a couple grand off you to fix things that aren’t important.” And teeth? Not important!
Instead of booking the dentist, Wyatt headed to Chemist Warehouse and picked up products including teeth-whitening supplies — a purchase that baffled viewers given this would not fix his toothache. He eventually sought professional help, discovered he had a badly cracked tooth and needed to seek advice from a specialist.
Despite saying the pain was preventing him from doing much work on the house, Wyatt still managed to eat and head to the gym, while Chantel continued working on the insulation of their enormous master bedroom. This contradiction particularly irritated viewers, with social media users questioning how he could lift weights but not help with manual labour on site.
The backlash comes after Wyatt’s lack of renovation experience was already exposed earlier in the season. During guest bedroom week, the couple’s tradesman was caught painting — a violation of Block rules — with Wyatt admitting he did not know how to paint himself. He had previously described his building experience as essentially limited to flatpacks and Lego.
Last week, it was Tayla who was copping heat from viewers. But with Chantel increasingly appearing to shoulder the workload, some viewers are now turning on Wyatt and questioning whether his gym-ready work ethic is translating on The Block.
The Block viewers react to Wyatt’s excuses
In a popular Reddit, one disgruntled viewer made the pun: “Wyatt do we have to watch and listen to this massive man baby!” This post complaining about Wyatt was flooded with comments in agreement.
“Every year The Block manages to find some fully grown toddlers,” wrote one.
“I’m confused as to why someone can’t face insulation with a sore tooth but at the same time finds eating and going to the gym appealing,” added another.
Wyatt is acting like he’s living in the stone ages.

It’s so easy to go to the dentist and get yourself right these days ðð#TheBlock
Some viewers have been suggesting the gym-goer is just lazy. “I don’t think he’s dumb. I think he’s smart enough to figure out how to skate by doing the minimal, and let his wife run things instead,” commented a viewer, as another joked that “He gives sookie la la vibes.”
On Instagram, a comment on a post about Wyatt’s dentist debacle read: “They’ve got a whole Bunnings store on site, yet he’s probably the biggest tool there.” Yikes!
There is clearly no love lost between some The Block viewers and Wyatt, but like every year, the seasons are long (like, so so long), so we reckon Wyatt still has time to turn things around.
The Block airs on Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
