The Block 2026 judges certainly had their opinions about the contestants’ choices in last night’s episode, but not everyone agrees!
Interior designer Chris Carroll of TLC Interiors (@tlcinteriors) has shared his take on last night’s ep exclusively with Chattr and his thoughts are rather intriguing.
Firstly, he agrees with the judges that Lisa and Rosco’s home is very livable, but he feels the judges are “sleeping on” another pair.
“Lisa and Rosco have a great sense of cohesion in their home; the rooms connect well, and there’s an overarching style,” Chris began. “However, the judges are sleeping on Chantel and Wyatt. Are the rooms a bit boring? Sure. Does this mass-appeal approach work when selling to the general public? Absolutely. So many Aussies love the safe, all-white look, so Chantel and Wyatt, though not winning major points from the judges, are delivering a home people can put their own stamp on.”
He also agreed with Marty’s opinion that Adam and Jolene’s kitchen was a standout, but that the “best kitchen anyone’s seen in 20 years” accolade was a “stretch”.
“This room orientation — with the island running parallel to the dining table overlooking the living room — is always the most successful layout,” he said. “It allows for a real connection between the zones, feels more harmonious, and points toward the view. The best kitchen anyone’s seen in 20 years is a stretch, but it was impressive.”

From a design POV, Chris tipped his hat to one team in particular, noting that they have the best design instincts of the entire cast.
“Lisa and Rosco are delivering design that pushes the envelope a little without taking it too far,” he opined.
“It still reads as ‘quiet luxury’ without being boring or all-white. Given so many of the other kitchens were oak or light, theirs was a nice point of difference.”
Which contestants made “cheap and tacky” choices
As for the teams that could use some work, he noted that Tayla and Rick’s kitchen “came across as a bit tacky” due to all the wine fridges.
“If anyone legitimately owns that many wine bottles, they’re a collector. And a collector would want a cellar for their bottles, not several display areas in their kitchen to show off their vino to guests. It doesn’t make any sense.”
He also noted that “a few appliances need to go” from some kitchens.
“In Courtney and Sev’s, the industrial style fridge really breaks up the calm, harmonious feel they were going for. It would look right at home in a restaurant kitchen, but not in a residential setting of this style,” he began.
“The same can be said for Rick and Tayla. Who needs three tall wine fridges in their kitchen and another half-height fridge in their pantry? The show went bonkers with sponsored products this week and some of the zones were worse for it.”
He concluded: “All three judges are wrong about the wall of mirror in Adam and Jolene’s living room. Regardless of whether you can see the view in the mirror from the kitchen, it still transports me to the seventies in the worst way. It feels cheap.”
