Well well well, that certainly was a doozy of an episode of The Block 2026 last night, wasn’t it?
In case you missed it, the bubbling tension among the groups came to a head when Tayla called a body corp to ask for more time given her father Rick’s injury.
Well, that went down like a led balloon as the only team that agree to it was Lisa and Rosco (bless their cotton socks).
Jolene wasn’t buying Tayla’s reasoning, suggesting Rick’s injured knee wasn’t the real issue. Speaking to the cameras, she claimed the pair might not be so far behind if Tayla spent more time on site.
“She’s just so bloody entitled, she’s a brat,” Jolene snaps.
In her confessional, Courtney says Tayla’s comments have “pissed me right off” and refuses to give more time, adding: “I just wanted to prove a point, no.”
With the decision being an almost resounding no, the teams get back to work.
Then later at the sharehouse, Sev consoles Rick about his injury.
“I just want to say, I don’t want to come across like I’m not sympathetic towards your injury,” she tells him.
It then cuts to Lisa and Rosco’s confessional where the couple call BS on Sev’s explanation.
“And then we get home, and they’re like,” Rosco says, before Lisa imitates Sev: “‘Oh Rick, I just want to know, how’s your knee? I just want you to know that it came across really harsh and really cold’. While there’s a camera there!”
Lisa adds: “If you care about his knee, you would’ve let him have an extra couple of hours to climb up and down that ladder and do all his painting. If you’re that worried about your kitchen not winning, then you’ve got bigger problems, I’m sorry.”
The Block’s Courtney and Sev respond to Lisa and Rosco’s dig
Speaking exclusively to Chattr, Courtney and Sev denied the idea that they were faking their concern for Rick.
“With Rick being in hospital, Sev and I would message him daily, making sure he was okay,” Courtney said.
“I’m sure Lisa was too busy to do that, and you know she also came to the body corp not knowing what she was going to do, what decision she was going to make. She was completely up in the air and flip flopping. At the start, it was very much like no, I don’t think we’re going to do the extra time.”
Sev then interjected: “And then in the end they fell short and said they needed more time, so we became their scapegoat to just put the blame on us. There was a pile-on with the whole Rick thing.”
She added: “Absolutely, we are sympathetic, empathetic to what Rick went through. He looked like he was in no state to be on his knees painting, doing any sort of physical play, and we knew Tayla couldn’t be on her own either. Our thought process was he is not fit to play this competition in this moment.”
The gals went on to say that they have receipts to prove how caring they’ve been of Rick throughout the process of his injury, but feel they don’t need to “prove it to anyone”.
“It’s really disappointing that Lisa would say that because yeah, it’s just simply so untrue,” Courtney said, adding that: “She would have no visibility over our relationship. We spent so much time with them away from cameras, so for her to sort of go on the record and say something like that, it hurts a little bit.”
“True to Lisa’s form, though,” Sev said.
Are Courtney and Sev still friends with Lisa and Rosco?
In light of the shade, the ladies admitted their relationship with Lisa and Rosco is somewhat fractured.
“Love Rosco, we think he’s a great bloke,” Sev said.
“We do sort of feel there’s a coldness from Lisa towards us, and that was pretty prevalent throughout the competition. But like, if someone doesn’t like you, that’s on them. If she thinks we’re smug, that’s her prerogative. We we are established, confident, competent women. That some people will convey that as being cocky or smug, again, that’s your prerogative. So it is sort of hurtful to hear that that’s the case.”
She went on to say that they’re in a “post-Block life now” and they just want “everyone to have a successful outcome”.
“I just don’t see any point in throwing words at each other and saying, you know, she’s XYZ because she was someone different in the competition, and she’s someone different now. So that’s my perspective on that,” she said.
Courtney then pointed out that she and Lisa were “never close on the show” and “still aren’t now”, but praised her for not coming between her friendship with Rosco.
