Courtney and Sev’s second consecutive win on The Block has started drama after they narrowly beat Adam and Jolene during family bathroom week.
The pair had fallen badly behind, but managed a dramatic comeback with significant help from other contestants’ trades. Wyatt and Chantel allowed their highly sought-after tilers, the Cursio brothers, to help Courtney and Sev once their own work was finished, while Rosco also pitched in under a deal that would see Courtney and Sev pay for his bathroom tiling if they won.
The extra assistance frustrated Jolene, particularly after Courtney and Sev won by just one point, scoring 25.5 to Adam and Jolene’s 24.5. This is the second week in a row that Adam and Jolene placed runner-up behind the Brisbane besties.
Jolene complained afterwards about their win, arguing the women had been saying they were struggling before suddenly having “100 other trades” helping them finish. Add to this, Courtney and Sev had a $20,000 budget for family bathroom week but spent $53,272.
Jolene vented that Courtney and Sev’s victory was unfair because they relied heavily on outside manpower, calling them “damsels in distress” in a confessional. In a phone call, she ranted to her mother that “the girls are a joke” before complaining about how much more work she and Adam had to do to get everything finished.
Jolene isn’t the only one upset. In tonight’s teaser, Wyatt admits that he thinks “Adam and Jolene just got robbed.”
And misery loves company, as Courtney and Sev even reveal that the other contestants “aren’t really talking to us” after they won. Yikes.
So is all fair in love and (The Block) war, or did Jolene and Adam actually deserve to win? The Block fans have sided with one team — and it isn’t Courtney and Sev.
The Block viewers react to claims that Courtney and Sev didn’t deserve Week 2 win
The women do have some defenders. “Whether you like it or not, they took a gamble and won. Apart from that ridiculous curtain, they had the best bathroom by far,” read one Instagram comment.
However, the majority of the comments on The Block’s Instagram believe this was an “unfair win” as Jolene and Adam pulled off the superior bathroom — and with half the help.
“Adam and Jolene should’ve won,” said one. “The leg-ups that the girls got this week just made it an unequal level playing field.”
“Adam and Jolene deserved this win, very unfair how many tradies they had and also they got a extension on time for everyone but more to their advantage,” added another.
Others called attention to how much the team blew their budget. “We could all win if our budget is blown out of the water!” wrote one angry viewer. “There should be points deducted if they overspend!”
How is it fair that they spent over double their budget and win!? No repercussions? #TheBlock

One fan went as far as to demand the judges be replaced, after crowning Courtney and Sev as the winners two weeks in a row. “Time for new judges please,” commented one fan. “I can’t anymore.”
On Reddit, one post went as far as to claim “we all agree it’s rigged, right?” they alleged. “They want their interior designer/site manager friends to win. And now they have a 250k kitchen to help.”
However, another user questioned this complaint. “Ok, so you’re saying it’s rigged because one of the only two teams to actually FINISH their bathroom won?” they joked.
The drama will continue on tonight’s The Block, so stay tuned!
The Block airs on Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
