Filip and Stella at MAFS FInal Vows

Married at First Sight’s (MAFS) golden couple, Filip and Stella, went from strength to strength throughout the experiment and ended up getting engaged, marking only the second Final Vows proposal in the show’s history. Now, the groom has opened up about the exact moment he knew he wanted to make Stella his wife.

In an interview with Chattr, Filip explained that Stella had made it clear she was open to an engagement throughout the season, but it was toward the tail end when he seriously started thinking about it.

“There were multiple touch points where we had good sessions on the couch, where Stella’s like, ‘Look, you can propose to me as soon as possible’. So, it was kind of marinating in my head, but it was reinforced at the end of hometown week.

“Which, in some ways, wasn’t a comfortable week for us, because we had to deal with that s**t. Personally speaking, for myself, I had to commit it to my head. Like, I want this more than ever, and how’s this all going to work? But I knew that she was my person.”

Filip explained that he spoke to his parents about popping the question after leaving home stays.

“I called my parents, I spoke to them on the way home, and in deliberations as well, for a good part of the week, I was just planning it. I got the ring, and then yeah, just kind of kept it on the hush, and yeah. Then that was it. She had no idea.”

Stella and Filip reveal they knew they’d found ‘the one’ early on in the MAFS experiment

Looking back, Filip said that while hometowns were when he firmly decided to propose, he knew that Stella was the one much earlier in the experiment.

“It was literally when we moved in together, and we had that first Dinner Party. After the honeymoon — we had an amazing honeymoon, it was absolutely epic — I was just like, this is my person, I was so into it. I was just like, I can literally see a future with her, the way that we were talking.

“We had all the honest chats. Straight off the bat, I knew that she had my back. I told her all my insecurities from day dot, I said, Look, I wasn’t perfect for this. I could be better at this, all this kind of stuff. I was just like, ‘Wow, I could never, I could never be myself in front of a person like this, and we laid it all out on the table, and I knew that she had my back so [I knew] pretty early on, to be honest with you.”

Stella added that she was locked in on Filip even earlier.

“In all honesty, probably on the third day of the honeymoon. I was like, yep, this could be my person. I was like, ‘I don’t know how it’s all going to play out, but I’ve had serious relationships in my life before, and I’d never had that feeling. Like, yep, this could actually be my forever person in three days. I kid you not.”

“When people say, ‘when you know, you know,’ I’m now a living, breathing example.”

A huge congrats to the happy couple!
