Home and Away’s golden couple, Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor, are engaged! The pair shared matching Instagram posts to announce Patrick had popped the question on the beach, and Sophie tells Chattr it was the perfect way to cap off the year.
“It was a big surprise and the best way to end 2025 — we had been doing long distance for the best part of a year, and to finish that time off in such a special way is magical,” Sophie gushes. “He’s my best friend and created the perfect proposal.”
The on-and-off-screen couple (you might fondly know them as Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson) ended up doing long distance after Patrick had to stay in the UK for work while Sophie moved back home to Sydney. This sparked split rumours, which Patrick promptly shut down.
As for the proposal, Sophie found it challenging to get through without tears, and she was grateful for how much thought Patrick had put into it. “Thank god he got a photographer and wrote down what he said, because I was sobbing through the whole thing, so I had to re-read it when I calmed down,” she spills.
The engagement was captured by Sydney photographer JP Velarde, and Sophie’s stunning ring was crafted by Mendel Rose Fine Jewellery, which makes only 20 pieces per month.

Both Sophie Dillman and Patrick O’Connor shared Instagram posts of the proposal, with Sophie keeping the caption short and sweet. “Home has always been with you,” she wrote, along with a ring and heart emoji.
Not to be outdone, Patrick declared his never-ending love for Sophie. “Not all treasure is silver and gold mate. Soph I love you in this life, the next and forever,” he wrote.
Of course, their fellow Home and Away stars were quick to flood the comment section with well-wishes.
“Hey you, you’re incredible, and I could not be happier for you. This looks so romantic and loving. Thanks for giving us this moment to share,” Georgie Parker wrote.
“Awww loads of love to you both! How wonderful,” Lynne McGranger added.
“Congratulations Patrick and Sophie, THE BEST news!!!! Can’t wait to celebrate with you both. Love you both,” Sarah Roberts said.
“The richest feeling in the world!! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR LOVE TO YOU BOTH!!! Ahhhhhh!!!” Angelina Thomson wrote.
