Farmer Zac’s fairytale came to a close on Monday night as he chose Maya over Mieke in the Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW) finale.
Zac admitted to sharing an immediate “spark” with Mieke, but he decided his slower-building connection with Maya offered the future he wanted.
In the adorable finale, Zac told Maya she had brought “excitement, happiness and laughter” into his life and said the moment she feared being sent home made him realise he could not risk losing her. Maya was thrilled by his decision, and the pair embraced and kissed. This scene came after Zac broke down in tears while rejecting Mieke, who managed to end up comforting him despite her disappointment.
It was a fittingly messy end to Farmer Zac’s journey on the show, which was largely eclipsed by all the girl drama that went down on his farm. Miranda emerged as the show’s most divisive contestant, leaving the show after she was caught bad-mouthing Maya.
Farmer Zac’s other finalist, Grace, told Chattr that there isn’t much love lost between herself and Miranda. “We were never really close. When she was on the farm, there were still quite a few of us. We didn’t spend a lot of time together,” Grace admitted.
In an interview with Chattr, Miranda didn’t list either Grace or Maya as her current friends.
On this year’s FWAW, Grace found herself in a heated argument with Miranda over calling Maya ‘desperate’ which was then relayed to Zac’s sister. The scene ended with both Grace and Maya in tears and Miranda’s elimination from the show.
“She obviously did the thing she did. I did the thing I did. I don’t think it’s too gnarly or anything,” Grace said. “It was definitely interesting, and I was definitely in situations I didn’t want to be in.”
Grace added that she’s still ‘Team Maya’ when it comes to their feud.
When asked if Grace saw the video that Farmer Wants a Wife’s Instagram posted of Miranda rewatching the season while roasting Grace with cruel comments, she said she had.
Grace admits she noticed that FWAW weren’t happy with the clip “and neither were my friends,” she said. “I definitely got in the firing line of that one. Not sure why, but I’m not really going to waste any energy trying to deep it or understand it because it’s just not behaviour I agree with.”
While Grace doesn’t care what Miranda thinks of her, she did question why the video was posted at all. “I don’t really mind what she says; she’s allowed to have her own opinions. It is what it is. I was just a bit disappointed that it was being platformed — but I’ve made my concerns known.”
Grace reveals a divide between Farmer Zac’s finalists
Given all the drama that unfolded on the farm and since the show wrapped, fans may wonder whether Grace, Mieke, Maya, and Miranda stayed friends. Grace is setting the record straight, admitting the finale trio has stayed strong, but Miranda is now firmly on the outs.
“I don’t really think the three of us talk to Miranda anymore, from what I’ve heard,” Grace said.
“You have to check with the other girls, of course. I haven’t talked to her since she left, but I’m obviously still really good friends with Maya and Mieke, and I talk to them very regularly — that’s where it stands.”
Farmer Zac’s finalists don’t have a group chat but stay in contact — well, minus Miranda. “We’re actually not in a group chat, but I just have many chats on the go,” she said.
Grace went on to address whether Miranda claiming she got a ‘villain edit’ was reflective of her experience with the divisive reality star.
“I feel like everyone has layers to their personality, and there were definitely sides of her that were not shown, but… we can see your mouth moving and the words that come out of your mouth, then that’s not really as much of an edit.”
