Despite Alex and Eddy leaving FWAW together weeks before the finale, it was revealed on the Reunion that this wasn’t quite the fairytale ending fans expected. In fact, the couple split just a few weeks after leaving the show, as Eddy ended their relationship after realising their initial spark had not translated to the outside world.
Of course, this didn’t come as much of a shock to those who are chronically online. Within days of Alex and Eddy leaving the show, New Idea broke the news that not only had the couple called it quits, but Eddy had a new man — and they had the paparazzi pics to prove it.
And now, almost two weeks since the FWAW Reunion aired, Eddy is ready to hard-launch this mystery man, a Frenchie named Matthis. Posting a carousel of cute couple pics, she joked that her new boyfriend had to watch “me date another bloke on TV, my guy has well and truly been through it.”
In the comments, Eddy joked that she didn’t mind her couple pics being leaked in the tabloids. “I bet being papped by New Idea wasn’t on your couples bingo card,” commented her co-star, Gabbie Farnham.
“Hahaha low-key loved it,” Eddy replied.
In another telling reply, a follower congratulated Eddy on her relationship but referred to Alex as a ‘walking red flag’, to which Eddy replied: “Thank you so much, so sweet of you.” Oop!

Farmer Alex Thompson-Welch and Eddy Fry looked like one of Farmer Wants A Wife 2026’s strongest matches, but their relationship unravelled just weeks after filming ended.
At the reunion, Alex revealed Eddy had suddenly “recoiled” and “pulled back” once the cameras stopped rolling.
He said she ended things during a brief video call while travelling in regional Victoria. “It was a 10-minute video chat… and I haven’t really spoken to her since,” he said, admitting the split “took me by surprise”.
In an awkward exchange, Eddy explained that spending more time together away from the show made her realise they had “different relationship styles”, plus their differing religious beliefs, which had already caused tension during the season, also became a major stumbling block.
Eddy admitted she had been “caught up in the spark” during filming, but later realised her faith wasn’t something she was prepared to compromise on. Eddy also said their views on politics differed and that Alex was more “intense” than she had initially realised.
Alex felt Eddy hadn’t given the relationship enough of a chance, telling her, “I felt like you didn’t want to give it a go.” However, Eddy concluded they simply weren’t compatible.
