Regular viewers of Big Brother Australia live stream have probably heard the housemates using the code word ‘Flamingo’, and recent evictee Vinnie has revealed what it means.
Over the past couple of weeks, the housemates have used the term ‘Flamingo’ on the live stream, with one Reddit user pointing out that they believed it referred to subjects the cast weren’t allowed to talk about.
“The housemates created the code word on (I think) the first Saturday after being told off for essentially talking about interesting stuff on a production day off.”
Housemate Connor mentioned Flamingo on the live stream on Sunday, December 7, confirming that Flamingo did have something to do with production.
“Colin asked if it was still a Flamingo morning, and the camera [person] nodded,” he said.

Vinnie explains what Flamingo means on Big Brother
Vinnie elaborated on what Flamingo actually meant in an interview with Chattr. He explained that the production crew has one day of the week off, so the cast are encouraged not to talk about anything dramatic.
“Flamingo was used on what we called a rest day. So Big Brother is shown six days a week, and on the rest day, which was the day off, the word Flamingo would be used, just whenever we got talking to like juicy comments, we would all go, we should probably Flamingo this. Big Brother would come in and be like ‘Housemates, Flamingo, hold the chat until tomorrow,” he explained.
He added that having the rest day and not being able to talk about any drama actually helped the housemates recharge their social batteries.
“It was actually a nice way to decompress throughout the day. I think Flamingo was needed. It was actually really good. Everyone in the house appreciated the Flamingo… I think every housemate will tell you that Flamingo was actually really good.”
The Big Brother Australia 2025 finale airs on Monday, December 8 at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
