Scott Cam explains why Adrian Portelli’s exit is a positive for The Block

But do the contestants feel the same way?

Adrian Portelli and Scott Cam The Block

After dominating two seasons of The Block and dropping over $27 million on eight homes, Adrian Portelli, the billionaire bidder known as “Lambo Guy” is calling it a day. No more over-the-top offers. No more stunt arrivals in yellow Lamborghinis. No more buying the entire street like it’s Monopoly. And according to Scott Cam, that’s exactly what the show needs

“I won’t be nervous about that at all,” he told Realestate.com.au. “We might not get ridiculous prices, but we’re going to give mums and dads the opportunity to buy one of these houses.”

In other words: it’s not about chasing headlines. It’s about giving real people a real shot.

Adrian been a walking plot twist for the past two years – first pulling up in a Lambo and dropping $12 million in Gisborne, then casually snapping up every single house in Phillip Island in 2024 for $15 million+. It was wild. It was record-breaking. But it also priced everyday buyers straight out of the game.

Scott Cam isn’t losing sleep over Adrian Portelli’s exit

Now, after failing to flog off his Phillip Island resort in a luxury lottery, he’s shifting focus – and The Block might finally breathe again.

“We want these homes to go to families,” Scott said. “Eventually they do, even when Adrian buys them – but this way, we cut out the middleman.”

Scott admits auction day will still bring the nerves – but this year, it’s for the right reasons.

“We want them to win. We never set anyone up to fail. They’ve worked hard – and they deserve it. Actually, sometimes people don’t deserve it… but this year, they do.”

So, The Block 2025 might not be about the big bucks, but it will be about big feelings. And as viewers, we’re not mad about it!

The Block 2025 premieres on July 27 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
