Many Australian Survivor fans were disappointed to see that two-time contestant Simon Mee wasn’t included in the cast for Survivor: Australia v The World, and he’s revealed to Chattr whether he was approached for the upcoming season.

Simon said that he wasn’t asked to join, but with the high calibre of contestants in the mix — like All Stars winner David Genat and Shonee Bowtell, who’s racked up the most days on the show — he understands why he didn’t get the invite.

“I have received a bunch of DMs from people disappointed that I wasn’t cast for the season,” he told Chattr. “I wasn’t contacted for the season. I think it was just above my pay grade.

“But I’m not upset I missed the cut. If it had have been a full cast of 24 with 12 Aussies I would have wished my name was in the mix, but when you step back and look at the quality of the cast for the cut down season, I don’t think anyone would be upset.

“The whole cast is epic, and I truly believe that the Aussies have put their very best tribe forward, and I can’t wait to see them all go head to head and show them why Australian Survivors can hold their own against the best in the world.”

Who does Simon think has what it takes to win Survivor: Australia v The World?

Simon told Chattr that he’s “definitely backing the Aussies home to take the crown”, adding that he thinks Sarah Tileke, from Australian Survivor 2017, will be one to watch.

“I’m really pumped to see Sarah play – I think she’s a real dark horse and can go the distance. I’ve waited a long time to see her play again.”

Simon also pointed out that this season will finally show who’s better — George Mladenov or David, who both claim to be the best Australian Survivor players ever.

“I can’t wait to see George go head-to-head with the King of the Jungle and the Golden God. We are finally going to see who is the true King / God of Australian Survivor. There’s a lot on the line here!

“I’m so pumped to watch this season go down. It’s going to be fast-paced, brutal and a lot of fun. There’s a lot on the line and plenty of big characters with a lot to prove.”

Survivor: Australia v The World premieres on Sunday, August 17 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
