Filip with Stella on MAFS

We haven’t heard that much about Filip Gregov, the 38-year-old Married At First Sight (MAFS) groom whose most memorable moment was being accosted by a few of Stella’s intense friends for mentioning his YouTube channel during his wedding vows.

But you know what? I don’t think we hear about Filip’s YouTube channel enough. And I know you’re all busy. So I did the grunt work, and watched Filip Gregov’s treasure trove of YouTube videos, which cater broadly to young-ish men and see Filip dispensing advice to men who want to get “jacked”, refer to grown women as “females”, and are ready to “level up” and “dominate”.

And look, I haven’t watched all of the videos, because there’s only so much I can take. But basically, Filip’s videos are kind of self-improvement series with clear nods towards the Manosphere: we’re talking the Red Pill ideology where the primary message is to “get jacked”, “dominate” and “have your pick of the mix” — the mix, of course, being women, who tend to be talked about in Filip’s videos more as commodities than people.

So join us on our rocky quest to understand Filip Gregov’s YouTube presence, the recurring themes that pop out and why a lot of this language is more dangerous than it seems.

1. Filip loves the word “females”

Something unmistakably manosphere about Filip’s YouTube videos is his use of the word “females” when referring to women, along with a solid serving of the noun “chicks”. In one of the many videos in which Filip opines about women, in an essentialist way that is typical of Red Pill ideology, he says that “females know on a subconscious level that if you look after yourself, you can look after them, you can protect them.”

What do you reckon, females? Has he got it right? Of course, the word “females” is often used to refer to women in misogynistic spaces, as a way to belittle us and reduce us to our biological capabilities (which are definitely cool, but calm down).

I’ll admit that after watching a few videos, I had lost all hope of Fliip ever using the word “women”, but there was one in which he finally did, and it was beautiful. Honestly, it felt like a ray of sunlight was finally piercing its way through the stormy clouds above me, and for a second — just a second — I felt human again.

2. He hits on Incel talking points

In another video, Filip shouts out a distressing fact: There’s an “epidemic” of “guys not having sex” and “guys not having relationships”. He adds that the top 10 percent of guys are literally going through 70-80 percent of women, guys, I’m going to call a spade a spade. Keeping 100 with ya.”

You may remember that a similar statistic was quoted by a kid in the TV show Adolescence. In much of the Manosphere, particularly the Incel division, it’s a commonly quoted but totally debunked myth that is used to imply that men are victims of the whims of women, who obviously hold all the power and capital in this godforsaken world!

Implicit in the citing of this made-up statistic is also that men are entitled to access to women and are being shortchanged, not least because these days women are getting more of a say in who they do or don’t date. Of course, that sense of entitlement to women and sex is a problem because it can manifest in getting aggressive towards women to the point of assault.

In any case, Filip presents the tired old statistic as some kind of cosmic truth, and offers up hacks to help men get inhabit that elite tenth percentile. As you can imagine, that involves getting jacked.

3. He is regularly shirtless

Filip’s physique is definitely a source of pride in his videos — he often makes a point to show off his chest to the camera, and talk about what he does at the gym, for example, in “My exact blueprint to be shredded and jacked all year round” and “how being jacked will change your life”. Filip has put out a number of these videos, where he repeatedly makes the point that maintaining his physique means that he’s been able to rise to the top of the sexual marketplace, which again, Red Pillers take as read.

As a result of getting muscles, Filip reckons: “I’ve been able to date whoever I want, within reason… can’t go for the top top girls.” And they say love is dead!

Again, Filip is following the Red Piller’s handbook to a tee, here: if you’re buying into the idea that we all inhabit a sexual hiearchy and that women flock towards men with the lowest percentage of body fat, then having a muscly body can end up becoming a huge part of your identity, which is maybe why he’s so often not wearing a shirt.

Sadly, researchers reckon this obsession with associating masculinity with building muscle can have plenty of negative effects on men, including “poor body esteem, body shame and body surveillance’, showing that the Manosphere doesn’t just hurt women; it hurts men, too.

4. He says there’s “no excuse to be overweight”

Filip expresses his disgust with overweight men in more than one video, once again showing that Red Pill ideology also harms men. At one point, he states: “If anyone’s telling you it’s alright to have guts and have tits, they are telling you they don’t want to see you dominate.” He’s also said that the idea that women like “dad bods” is a myth, though at no point does he ask any women about this.

Actually, the absence of women’s opinions in his videos is probably very intentional. That’s because it’s common among Red Pillers to see women as deceptive to their core. So even if they say they’re open to dating men with different types of body shapes (like Dad bods, which Filip gets upset about in another video), they’re probably lying, maybe even to themselves. One of the problems with the belief that women are inherently deceptive is that men are justified in “dominating” them to straighten them out.

6. Filip reckons masturbating is “giving away your life force”

About a year ago, Filip uploaded a video called “Semen Retention No Fap Isn’t The Final Answer For Men,” and look, I’ve always said that! In the video, Filip says he used to watch porn and masturbate five or six times a day, but has stopped doing so because he was giving away his “life force” — which is how he refers to his semen — as a “tissue”.

He adds that as a man, masturbating means that you have “time, energy and focus” to find your “sexual reward” out in the wild, meaning, sex from females! “If that’s what you’re doing it for, then why not just go for the girl you want? Do you know what I mean? Why not just take it? Take her. I mean, she’s there for the taking.” Filip’s right. Women are like undifferentiated little birdies just passively milling around, waiting to be swooped away by blue-balled vultures… and that’s just biology!

While there’s so much more to explore, we’re going to end here, because life is short, and you don’t want to spend too much of it reading about this. I can only hope that you have been changed by this brief investigation into MAFS groom Filip Gregov’s cursed YouTube videos. I, for one, feel a renewed determination to never Google “Manosphere” or “Red Pill” again.
