In an recent interview with Chattr, controversial groom Chris Robinson has revealed that last night’s Married At First Sight (MAFS) Commitment Ceremony was a “wake-up call.”

“Obviously, the Commitment Ceremony was really hard for me,” Chris admits. “I got some hard truths. And it was a big, big smack in the face and a wake-up call,” the 38-year-old groom says.

ICYMI, last night Chris and his TV husband Sam Stanton fronted the experts after a conflict-ridden week. Expert John Aiken, in particular, called Chris out for a communication style being so poor that Sam had become “scared” of trying to raise problems with him.

“It was an awful place to be,” Chris says about the ceremony, adding that the Commitment Ceremony was probably his “least favourite part of the whole experiment.”

“Sometimes when you’re being told you’re wrong and your mirror is being held up to your face, it’s not nice,” he adds. “I mean, that’s where the growth happens. It’s not pretty… but I do want to move forward and grow as a person.”

Can Chris see a future with Sam?

Chris and Sam once again clashed at the Commitment Ceremony last night, when Chris blindsided Sam by deciding that he wanted to “leave” the experiment. However, Sam wrote “stay”, and as per the rules of the experiment, the couple are stuck together for another week as they attempt to repair their relationship.

When asked if he believes he and Sam could potentially have a future after the Commitment Ceremony, the 38-year-old sounded hopeful.

“I still want to try and give this relationship a really good crack,” he says. So, will Chris and Sam mange to heed the experts’ advice and turn their relationship around? We’ll find out this week.

MAFS 2026 premieres on Sunday – Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
