Brook Crompton is caught up in the first Married at First Sight (MAFS) scandal for 2026, with reports circulating that she’s now pregnant with her ex’s child, who she was dating before filming the show.

In an interview with Chattr, Brook revealed that she broke up with her ex shortly before filming MAFS, and said their relationship was very serious.

“I had come out of a relationship where we were settling down. We were talking about wanting to have children, you know, I wanted someone mature who adores me for me,” she said. “I was coming out of that, I wanted someone that’s mature, that knows who they are.”

Brook went on to hint that she’s no longer with Chris — who has received a huge amount of backlash over his fatphobic comments — but hinted that she is happily in a relationship.

“Let’s just say, I do have some beautiful plans with a beautiful non-fat shaming man,” she said of her Valentine’s Day plans.

What is the pregnancy scandal surrounding Brook?

Daily Mail Australia shared a video of Brook kissing her ex-boyfriend Harry as they decorated a Christmas tree together after she finished filming in October.

On top of that, Courier Mail has reported that Brook’s been spotted out and about in Brisbane and she’s visibly pregnant. The publication reported that her ex is the father, and sources have claimed the couple are expecting their baby in June.

Chattr has reached out to Network Nine for comment.

Brook thinks it’s unfair that she was paired with Chris

Brook joined MAFS with high hopes of finding a genuine connection; however, that all came crashing down when she was paired with fat-phobic groom Chris Nield, who she believes was cast for shock value.

Chris had viewers offside after he announced in his audition tape that his turn-offs were “fake tan, needy and fat people”, and he told the other grooms at the Bucks’ night that “overweight” people were his dealbreaker.

While Brook already made it abundantly clear that she doesn’t agree with Chris’s comments, she’s told Chattr that she thinks being paired with the 31-year-old robbed her of her chances of finding a real match on MAFS 2026

“I think it was really unfair,” she said. “I think being paired with someone like him. It was for views, and I don’t think that he should have even been put on the show, like [his fat-shaming comments] are disgusting behaviour to me,” she said.

Brook hinted that her and Chris’s onscreen relationship is far from smooth, and it sounds like they’re currently not on amicable terms.

“Honestly, I can’t believe I got paired with him, and I think it’s very damaging for a female’s self-worth and self-confidence.

“There were a lot of things that happened behind the scenes and off camera that won’t be shown on air… So I am quite appalled by that as well. And I think for me, I need to protect my peace. I went through a lot on that show behind the scenes that a lot of people won’t see, and it was to do with Chris’s behaviour, and I think he should not have been allowed on that show.”

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Monday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
