Brook Crompton has been swept up in the first Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 scandal, after news emerged that she is pregnant with her ex’s child — a man she was dating before filming — while she is still in the experiment.
In an interview with Chattr, Brook revealed that she broke up with her ex, Harry, shortly before filming MAFS, and said their relationship was very serious.
“I had come out of a relationship where we were settling down. We were talking about wanting to have children, you know, I wanted someone mature who adores me for me,” she said. “I was coming out of that, I wanted someone that’s mature, that knows who they are.”
Brook has since confirmed that she and Harry got enaged over the Christmas break. Prior to their hard launch, Brook made it clear that she was no longer with Chris — who has received a huge amount of backlash over his fatphobic comments — in an interview with Chattr, and hinted that she was happily in a relationship.
“Let’s just say, I do have some beautiful plans with a beautiful non-fat shaming man,” she said of her Valentine’s Day plans.

All the details about Brook’s pregnancy
In early February, Daily Mail Australia shared a video of Brook kissing her ex-boyfriend Harry as they decorated a Christmas tree together after she finished filming the show. Then, Courier Mail reported that Brook’s been spotted out and about in Brisbane and she’s visibly pregnant. The publication noted that her ex is the father, and sources have claimed the couple are expecting their baby in June.
The news was confirmed on Sunday, February 15, when Brook did a sit-down interview with Woman’s Day about her pregnancy and revealed that she’s recently gotten engaged, too.
In the interview, Brook revealed that she got back together with her ex about two weeks after she left the MAFS experiment in August.
“He had to put in the hard yards, because he broke up with me,” Brook told the publication. “But no, really, we were both like, ‘OK, if it didn’t work back then, what are we going to do to make it work now?’”
“But Harry invited me away to the Maldives a couple of weeks later for a surfing trip with his family friends, and that just cemented things for me.
“We just had the most beautiful time. We were better than we had ever been.”
Brook went on to reveal that she discovered she was pregnant “around November”.
“I had a dream that I was pregnant,” says Brook. “I woke up and thought, ‘That was crazy,’ but I did a pregnancy test… and it was positive!”
And, Brook’s dream run continued when Harry popped the question to her on Christmas Day, while the couple were holidaying in Aspen, Colorado.
“I genuinely wasn’t expecting it,” adds Brook. “I thought maybe he’d propose after we had the baby.” Instead, Harry led her out for a walk – blindfolded. “My mascara was running down my face,” Brook laughs. “It was so beautiful. So special. He hid it so well.”
Brook said that she and Harry are choosing not to watch MAFS, and, instead, focus on their future together.
“We also don’t have time for the drama; we have bigger fish to fry,” she said.
“We’ve got a whole life ahead of us now. We’re engaged, we’ve got a bubba on the way. We’ve got everything we’ve always wanted!”

Brook thinks it’s unfair that she was paired with Chris
Brook joined MAFS with high hopes of finding a genuine connection; however, that all came crashing down when she was paired with fat-phobic groom Chris Nield, who she believes was cast for shock value.
Chris had viewers offside after he announced in his audition tape that his turn-offs were “fake tan, needy and fat people”, and he told the other grooms at the Bucks’ night that “overweight” people were his dealbreaker.
While Brook already made it abundantly clear that she doesn’t agree with Chris’s comments, she’s told Chattr that she thinks being paired with the 31-year-old robbed her of her chances of finding a real match on MAFS 2026
“I think it was really unfair,” she said. “I think being paired with someone like him. It was for views, and I don’t think that he should have even been put on the show, like [his fat-shaming comments] are disgusting behaviour to me,” she said.
Brook hinted that her and Chris’s onscreen relationship is far from smooth, and it sounds like they’re currently not on amicable terms.
“Honestly, I can’t believe I got paired with him, and I think it’s very damaging for a female’s self-worth and self-confidence.
“There were a lot of things that happened behind the scenes and off camera that won’t be shown on air… So I am quite appalled by that as well. And I think for me, I need to protect my peace. I went through a lot on that show behind the scenes that a lot of people won’t see, and it was to do with Chris’s behaviour, and I think he should not have been allowed on that show.”
Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Monday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
