Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2025 star Jacqui Burfoot has said she believes Brook Crompton‘s recent ‘bad edit’ is due to her pregnancy announcement.

Shortly after the 2026 season kicked off, it was leaked that Brook — who was married to Chris Nield in the experiment — was pregnant, and that the father was the man she was dating before coming on the show. These reports were confirmed in a Woman’s Day article, with Brook also revealing that she was engaged to her baby daddy, Harry, who she reconnected with after leaving the experiment.

While the news is exciting for Brook, it does mean that it’s a spoiler that Chris and Brook don’t end up together, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise if you actually watch the show. Former bride Jacqui has said that these kind of spoilers usually lead to a bad edit for the participant involved.

“I’ve just discovered why Brook is getting a bad edit, and I’m so happy for her,” Jacqui said in a TikTok video while sharing a photo of Brook’s pregnancy announcement.

“Production hates spoilers, and they always threaten you with a bad edit if you were on the storyline. So I wouldn’t be surprised if this was taken into account,” she added, which makes sense considering Brook’s fall from grace in recent episodes.

Jacqui added that she found herself in a similar situation when she leaked information about getting together with her now fiancé, Clint Rice, after they both exited the experiment.

“I know for me, they definitely threatened me about it, and I was like, I don’t really care. Like, at the end of the day, whatever people can believe, what they want to believe, and smart people will always look through and edit and look at the reality and get to know you as a person.”

Jacqui added that she’s “so happy” for Brook over her engagement and pregnancy news.

All the details on Brook’s pregnancy

In the Woman’s Day interview, Brook revealed that she got back together with her ex about two weeks after she left the MAFS experiment in August.

“He had to put in the hard yards, because he broke up with me,” Brook told the publication. “But no, really, we were both like, ‘OK, if it didn’t work back then, what are we going to do to make it work now?’”

“But Harry invited me away to the Maldives a couple of weeks later for a surfing trip with his family friends, and that just cemented things for me.

“We just had the most beautiful time. We were better than we had ever been.”

Brook went on to reveal that she discovered she was pregnant “around November”.

“I had a dream that I was pregnant,” says Brook. “I woke up and thought, ‘That was crazy,’ but I did a pregnancy test… and it was positive!”

And, Brook’s dream run continued when Harry popped the question to her on Christmas Day, while the couple were holidaying in Aspen, Colorado.

“I genuinely wasn’t expecting it,” adds Brook. “I thought maybe he’d propose after we had the baby.” Instead, Harry led her out for a walk – blindfolded. “My mascara was running down my face,” Brook laughs. “It was so beautiful. So special. He hid it so well.”

Brook said that she and Harry are choosing not to watch MAFS, and, instead, focus on their future together.

“We also don’t have time for the drama; we have bigger fish to fry,” she said.

“We’ve got a whole life ahead of us now. We’re engaged, we’ve got a bubba on the way. We’ve got everything we’ve always wanted!”

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Thursday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
