The first Married At First Sight (MAFS) Dinner Party turned the drama up a notch. Bec Zacharia admitted to Rebecca Zukowski that rival Gia Fleur could be her husband Danny Hewitt’s type and then everything kicked off. Gia said in one of her interviews she believed Danny was checking her out, while Bec refused to speak on the matter.
However, Bec has since broken her silence and tells Chattr she doesn’t think Gia is Danny’s type after all.
“In that moment [when I was talking to Rebecca], I was just [thinking], ‘Oh, maybe she is [his type]’. You know, it was like an intrusive thought that just came out then and there. It wasn’t something that I had been sitting, stewing and thinking about,” Bec tells us.
“It was just a thought my mind had, and I said it, and it was obviously picked up and is now a big storyline.”
As for whether Danny was actually checking out Gia during the Dinner Party, Bec was surprised to see those claims.
“I watched that episode last night… for the first time,” Bec says. “I had no idea that [Gia had said that]. If I’m honest with you, it’s not something that I saw on the night.”
She adds that it was interesting that there was no footage of Danny looking at Gia, and says she doesn’t know if it took place or not.
“It’s not something that I clocked on that evening,” Bec says. “At the end of the day, I suppose, as you know there’s a rivalry between Gia and I… I can only presume that maybe that was going to help her case with our rivalry.”

Bec was upset by Danny’s Dinner Party reveal
The other major Dinner Party moment happened when Danny told the group he had a great friendship with Bec. Seeing as Bec has been so desperately fighting for his feelings to become romantic, this was shattering for the MAFS bride.
“It is difficult to hear that, because as I said before coming into this experiment, I really believed in it, and I was like, you know, I want this to work so much,” Bec spills.
“At that point, it’s difficult because you don’t want your romantic partner to call you your best friend. But at the same time, we had the most incredible honeymoon, and we did create like the strongest bond from it.”
And while Bec was upset during the Dinner Party, she now has clarity on that moment and can see where Danny was coming from. “Looking back on it and watching it [now], it didn’t hurt quite as much,” she reveals.
If you’re curious to know if Bec and Danny are still together, we have all the clues here. Otherwise, we’ll have to see what happens at the Commitment Ceremony.
Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Monday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
