With Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 nearing final vows, viewers are starting to ask one juicy question: where is this year’s couple swap?

Most MAFS seasons feature the infamous Couple Swap challenge, where sparks can fly behind the scenes between participants who weren’t originally matched. While this task hasn’t played out on our screens yet, a connection between two participants has viewers questioning whether a Couple Swap was cut from the edit.

Read on to find out why fans are convinced a secret couple swap went down on MAFS 2026.

Has there been a secret couple swap?

So far, there hasn’t been a couple swap this season, but fans have picked up on a romantic connection between Bec and Joel, who have been spotted multiple times together out and about in Sydney.

“I actually think these two could be a great match! I think Joel would bring the fun and security Bec needs, and I think Bec would reciprocate that behaviour,” one fan wrote.

“They look good together,” another wrote.

Some fans also thought their pairing might be a result of the Couple Swap challenge, which normally takes place during the MAFS experiment.

“They’re friends, and this looks like the wife swap week anyway,” one viewer responded.

“I’m sure this is when they do the couple swap for a day,” another suggested.

Bec sets the record straight on her relationship with Joel

Bec addressed rumours about her relationship with Joel on a TikTok LIVE Awhina Rutene from MAFS 2025. She clarified that their connection isn’t romantic.

During a recent TikTok LIVE, Awhina asked the question on everyone’s mind: “Why does everyone think Joel is dating Bec?”

Bec didn’t hold back in her response, explaining that the speculation comes down to how close they are.

“Everyone thinks Joel and I are dating because we are just like best mates, and we’re having lunches together and getting photographed,” she said.

While shutting down the rumours, Bec did admit she’s been missing him.

“I put up a story yesterday saying that I miss him — and I do — because he’s in Singapore at the moment with his mum,” she shared.

Despite their close bond, Bec made it clear there’s no romance between them.

“But no, we’re not dating… he wishes. Nah, I’m just kidding,” she added.
