What happened with Grace and Farmer Zac on Farmer Wants A Wife Australia 2026

In a nail-biting Sunday episode of Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW), Farmer Zac made the emotional decision to send Grace home during the black-tie dinner, choosing Maya and Mieke as his final two women.

The elimination came as a shock, defying the FWAW odds because Grace had appeared to be an early frontrunner, receiving Zac’s first 24-hour date and sharing his first kiss of the season. But more recently, their connection had stalled, with Grace not receiving another one-on-one date.

Their farewell was messy and emotional, with Zac sobbing so heavily that Grace struggled to understand his decision. But Zac ultimately believed his relationships with Maya and Mieke had progressed further.

After the elimination, Grace said she felt ‘numb’ in a confessional with the dumping appearing to be a blindside. However, Grace later admitted to Chattr that she actually knew it was coming due to an unaired moment.

“It’s so funny looking back on that night — watching that episode. But we basically walked down the stairs, and then we got really briefly separated while they were setting up the cameras and stuff,” Grace recalled.

“I looked around at him once I had the all clear, and I just looked at his face, and he was in tears. And I just 100% knew in that moment… by that point I was like, okay, I’m a goner. It was definitely [clear] from the moment he started crying.”

This wasn’t quite the ‘blindside’ that it appeared on screen, as Grace admits the entire night she felt something was off between herself and Zac.

“It definitely wasn’t a normal night. I definitely felt worried going into it because I thought that there was definitely a chance it could be me. They did cut out a lot of our conversations, but there were a few sort of comments here and there [from Zac],” Grace said.

With some time, Grace has come to terms with his decision. “I genuinely think he had three really strong connections, and obviously, I know those other two girls really well — we were all really good options. It’s not like he had two duds or a few bad options [laughs],” she continued.

“I think he had to go with who he had spent the most time with more recently because he would have been more sure about them — so, it kind of made sense in the end.”

Grace and Zac spoke about their split after Farmer Wants A Wife was filmed

During the dumping, Grace asked Zac what had changed between them, a question he never quite answered as his emotions took over. “I didn’t get the answer,” Grace told Chattr. “Watching it back, it’s just as incoherent as I remember.”

To get some clarity, Grace and Zac spoke again about what had gone wrong between them. “We talked a little bit after I got off the show, and it definitely just came down to like the time thing. There were really limited opportunities to spend time [together], and those other girls [Mieke and Maya] just got time a bit later on, which worked well for them,” she said.

“I unfortunately didn’t get that, and I kind of understand why he did what he did and how it went that way. He had to go with the two that were strongest rather than taking a risk on like me, who he probably wasn’t as sure about because it had been such a long time [between dates].”

Grace admits their spark lost ‘momentum’ as Zac started to focus on different connections. “He got the chance to spend more time with the other girls and our connection as a result of that faded. I feel like if we’d had another day, it really might have changed things up.”

Grace weighs in on Zac’s winner between Mieke and Maya on Farmer Wants A Wife

Grace noted that on her final night on Farmer Wants A Wife, she saw that Zac had one connection stronger than the others. “I think he had one really strong connection in particular that night. So I think he was really safe in that one,” Grace said.

She didn’t name Maya, but did mention in the episode that she was doubting Zac’s connection with Mieke, although she has since admitted this was said as a way to protect herself.

“They definitely had a bit of a later connection. I didn’t see it at the start at all,” Grace said. “I think it was one of those things that I was probably telling myself a narrative to stay confident and stay sane while I was in there. And I probably just ignored what I saw of their connection and told myself that mine was stronger… otherwise, you can totally spiral.” Huge mood!

Grace couldn’t pick between Maya and Mieke, two women she still considers close pals. “I love both of those girls equally. We spent so much time just the three of us together on the show. I wasn’t rooting for anyone in particular. I had my feelings on who it would be, but I just wanted both of them to end up happy and comfortable with the decision that was inevitably going to be made in the end.”

While Grace found firm friends on the farm, she doesn’t necessarily count Zac as one of them. “We don’t talk regularly or anything,” she said. “I think if we ran into each other, we’d be totally fine. We’re not best friends, but we’re all good — no bad blood.”
