Alanna sick on Big Brother

Fans have noticed that the Big Brother Australia housemates have been getting sick on the livestream, but nothing about the gastro-like illness that’s circulating the house has made it into the nightly episodes.

A viewer took to Reddit, claiming that both Lana and Ed had been sick and received medical help.

“Lana and Ed both saw a medic, gastrogate confirmed,” one person wrote, and another replied, “This is like the fourth confirmation, but yeah, at least those two got seriously stomach sick.”

While the sickness hasn’t been confirmed in the episodes, a user speculated that some of the housemates fell ill after the western dinner party last week.

“Yesterday, heard Lans and Ed directly talk about being sick, specifically in the stomach. They also looked visibly sick. And, this morning Conor and Ed discussed that everyone was so sick, including the mince that got left out during the Cowbody dinner night,” they wrote.

Adding even more mystery to the gastrogate situation, viewers have noticed the live stream being muted multiple times whenever housemates talk about feeling sick.

Viewers speculate about what caused Big Brother’s Gastrogate

While the housemates seem to be fortunately recovering from their sudden bouts of apparent gastro, some fans have speculated that it was caused by the way the food was handled by the cast.

“This morning, Conor, Ed and Bruce were talking in the kitchen about what could’ve caused it. Conor pointed out that when the Cowboy night got announced that Ed took the mince (that he was cooking) off the stove and put it to the side and it was a while before someone put it in the fridge, they then reheated and ate it a day or so after. Conor was saying, with the heat, and leaving it out with all the bugs, it could’ve made them sick,” one person wrote.

Another said that they’ve witnessed the housemates being extremely unhygienic in the kitchen.

“Food safety has been raised repeatedly. Holly wiping floor with a teatowel, both Conor and Ed not washing hands after touching various gross things, and either Conor or Ed didn’t wash after handling raw chicken… from memory,” they said.

A third said that while the exact cause behind the outbreak is unclear, it’s obvious that some of the housemates have been unwell.

“Honestly, it could be the food itself, the questionable food handling by certain ppl in there, seems like a major fly issue there too, or it could be just a round of gastro.”

Big Brother Australia 2025 airs Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, and Sundays at 7pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
