Big Brother housemate Holly Young is easily one of the most talked-about contestants this season. With over 100,000 Instagram followers, a string of very recognisable ex-boyfriends, a modelling career that’s taken her around the world, and even a stint representing Australia in the under-18s soccer team, Holly’s always had that It-girl energy. So you’d think making friends in the house would be a walk in the park… right?
At first, it definitely looked like Holly and housemate, Coco Beeby were on track to become besties; they both even dubbed themselves ‘ying and yang’ on the first night in the Big Brother house, but in a post eviction interview with Chattr, Holly revealed that things shifted once she opened up and realised the friendship might not have been what it seemed.
“I think when you confide in someone you believe is a friend, especially in such a tough environment where there’s no break, it hits harder. We’re the same age, we have similar vibes, even similar haircuts… so I thought we’d naturally stick together. But inside the house, you learn pretty quickly who’s genuinely in your corner and who isn’t,” Holly told Chattr.
It seemed like a real friendship could form between Holly and Coco, Holly even admitted that Coco tried to befriend her, but in the end, things didn’t turn out that way.
“I thought that she was more of a girl’s girl than it played out. And the more you know clips that I see online about her talking behind my back, like there’s so many TikTok pages about it, like some of the things were quite vulgar. I would just not ever want to say that about somebody, because words really do hurt.”
Despite the shock, Holly insists she’s choosing to take the high road.
“I’d just rather rise above that whole situation. That was my part to say, and unfortunately, I clocked that second side of her later in the game. I wish I’d realised sooner, but I don’t have a time machine, so I can’t go back and change anything. I did think it was valid that she knew how I felt, and hopefully she can take something from that in a positive way and maybe rethink some of the things she said behind my back.”
Holly doesn’t hold back in her eviction speech to Coco
As we know, there’s a 24/7 Big Brother livestream, so some viewers have already seen Holly’s eviction speech, in which she makes it very clear how she felt about Coco.
“Thank you, Coco, for reminding me why I don’t trust females. I’m so disappointed with how you’ve treated our relationship. Looking back now, I realise it was pretty much all fake. You’re very good at game-playing and, you know, slithering around crying when you need to cry.”
“I’m sure you’ve gone into the diary room and said whatever you wanted about me, but it took far longer to get me to say anything negative towards you. Even when you came up to me wanting to use or borrow something of mine, I shared because I thought it was an act of kindness. But you were basically just using me, and I feel very used.”
After Holly’s eviction speech, Coco was seen on the live stream in the bedroom crying, but viewers didn’t have much sympathy for her.
“Coco deserved every word Holly said about her. The tears are hopefully some self-reflection on the snake she really is,” one TikTok user wrote.
Holly is already back on social media
Before entering the Big Brother house, Holly had a modest Instagram following of around 100,000, and it was set to private. But less than 24 hours after her eviction, her following has already jumped to 107,000, and she’s already back on the platform.
“Hi guys, I’m finally out of the Big Brother house and I’m looking forward to enjoying some sunshine. Mwah, looking forward to seeing you all,” she posted on her Instagram story.
It might seem like Holly went on the iconic TV show to grow her following, but speaking to Chattr, she explained her real reason: she wanted to challenge herself and do something outside her comfort zone.
“I think Big Brother is such an iconic TV show. It’s been around since day dot. At the time I was making the decision, the timing just worked out well. They say timing is everything. I really just wanted to experience something completely new.”
Big Brother Australia 2025 airs Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, and Sundays at 7pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
