The future of SAS Australia has been surrounded by rumours of late, with many speculating that cancellation was coming for the series. However, we’ve now had confirmation that SAS Australia will be returning (likely in 2025).
Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming series and what we know so far.
SAS Australia 2025: What to expect from the next season
Back in August this year, the show’s chief instructor, Ant Middleton, confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that the series would be returning. He highlighted that the delay was simply due to efforts to find “the right cast, we need the right location, and we need the right production company on board.”
“Of course we’re coming back, SAS Australia’s gone nowhere. You’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth,” he told the outlet.
Per reporting from New Idea, it’s expected SAS Australia will hit screens in 2025 but there are no confirmed dates as yet. It’s thought we will get a more concrete update during Channel Seven’s Upfronts event in mid-November.
Which cast members will be appearing in SAS Australia 2025?
Following the initial update, Ant shared with the Herald-Sun that former contestant Merrick Watts would be returning to the series on the directing staff.
“He is going to be by my side on the next SAS. I guess the cat is out of the bag now. We have to keep evolving it (the show), keep it fresh,” he said.
Merrick was quick to deny the claims, however. Speaking on FOX FM’s Fifi, Fev & Nick, he shared that he has never been spoken to about an opportunity to return to the show.
I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.
SAS Australia airs on 7 and 7Plus.
