Gogglebox’s Mia, Lainey and Bree on the moments they’ve cringed at watching back

Gogglebox Australia is returning for Season 22, and to celebrate their fourth season, Mia, Lainey and Bree have reflected on some of their wildest moments.

During an interview with Chattr, Bree and Lainey said that the trio’s blend of personalities keeps their commentary fresh and interesting.

However, because of their years of friendship and the fact that Mia and Bree are sisters, the women sometimes forget that they’re being filmed, which leads to some shocking moments when they watch the show back.

“There are always moments where, because we say things in the moment, and because we’re not overthinking it, we kind of forget by the time it goes to air. So then when we watch it back and we’re like, Oh my gosh. I can’t believe that actually came out of our mouths. But in the moment, it’s just what feels right and natural. So we’re not overthinking it.”

Bree agreed, saying that she often finds herself surprised by her commentary when she watches the episode back.

“There are definitely dumb things that I’ve personally said, being like, Oh my God, I don’t even remember saying that. And that actually came out of my mouth,” she laughed.

Lainey explained that moments like that normally happen when they’re watching reality TV and a really juicy scene happens.

“I feel like even the random little comments we make about a few TV personalities that we struggle to watch. I think sometimes we’ll say things and then we’re like, Oh no, that was actually really mean.”

What can viewers expect from the new season of Gogglebox Australia Season 22?

Gogglebox Australia‘s newest instalment will air on August 28 on Channel 10 and 10Play. Season 22 will see all of the previous season’s cast return, which Bree and Lainey said is the beauty of this season.

When the Gogglebox cast members were asked to describe the upcoming season in three words, they opted for unhinged, familiar and fun.

“I feel like [viewers] can expect the unexpected,” Lainey said. “There’ll be the classics that everyone knows and loves, and then I think there’ll be a few fun surprises this season.”

Survivor’s Kirby reveals her hidden pre-game connection with Luke

Australian Survivor’s Princess Kirby Bentley has been lifting the lid on the epic season of Survivor: Australia v The World, and it turns out there was a secret connection between herself and Luke Toki nobody knew about.

Kirby tells Chattr she worked with Luke over a decade ago and relished having a “secret” alliance with the Aussie player.

“Luke and I worked together. I was a shot firer when he was drilling the holes in the ground as a driller, and we would sit in the crib rooms, and we’re talking like 12 years ago, so there’s a long time far in between with us,” Kirby spills. “I had all these secret alliances”.

Aside from Luke, the player was in the game with no other connections. However, her social prowess is one of her strong suits, so she made relationships that took her to merge.

“Nobody [else] really knew me, and I would have been an easy boot. And the fact [is], they all wanted to work with me.”

While Kirby was blindsided by Parvati during the most recent episode, she was still proud of how she approached Survivor: Australia v The World.

“I didn’t go out to make big moves intentionally. Everything was just organic. And I’ve been lucky that the response has been what it is,” she says. “I just applied a fearless brand, a rebel type, brand of Survivor. And it worked, it worked for the most part.”

Kirby praises Luke’s game on Survivor: Australia v The World

While Luke made an enemy of Parvati Shallow during the classic Survivor auction, Kirby still thinks he’s making some strategic moves.

“I think Luke’s playing an incredible game. I think that he creates the chaos he’s fine-tuned. I was probably the chaos, and I played at that level the whole game, whereas I feel like he just sort of sat back. He saw it happening,” Kirby says.

“He was flexible, and he came to play, and he’s chaotic when he needs to be.”

She also thinks Luke has upped his game from his previous seasons by finding “balance and maturity”. Could this be a hint that Luke is going far? We’ll have to see what happens in the next few episodes.

Survivor: Australia v The World airs at 7pm on Sundays, and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

Survivor’s Kirby sets the record straight on her ‘flirty’ bond with Parvati

Kirby Bentley and Parvati Shallow were dubbed “the game’s most powerful couple” by host Jonathan LaPaglia during a Survivor: Australia v The World promo — and when their alliance was cemented in episode 6, it sparked a wave of fans shipping the duo.

“Kirby not being afraid of me is the strongest aphrodisiac,” Parvati teased in a production-led interview.

Viewers quickly picked up on the chemistry, with one Reddit user admitting they felt “very aggrieved by the short-lived queer romance,” while another confessed, “I would have lived for the Parvati/Kirby power couple and borderline showmance.”

But the partnership was short-lived. In the very same episode, Parvati blindsided Kirby, sending her home. When asked whether there was a spark between herself and Parvati — or if it was a strategic move — Kirby told Chattr that their vibe came naturally.

“I think we’re just both naturally flirty people. I think that’s her gameplay as well as it is a part of my gameplay. And whether or not that was real at the time, it’s hard to say what was real when you are playing a game like that. So it does look fun and flirty, which is, I think, what the people wanted,” she laughed.

She added that there was “definitely” a genuine friendship between herself and Parvati.

Where does Parvati and Kirby’s friendship stand post-Australian Survivor?

Although Parvati did the one thing Kirby asked her not to — blindsiding her — Kirby told Chattr that she has no resentment toward the five-time Survivor player, adding that they’re still friends now.

“It’s all a part of the game, and nothing is ever personal,” she said. “We check in all the time. She’s a boss, she’s a powerful woman, and is successful in all that she does.”

“I’m friends with everyone, it’s just the game. We know what we’re signing up for. We know we’re going out there to play this game, and there are lies and backstabbing and blindsides and everything, and I’ve experienced that.

“But, on the day, we step away, and we’re still human, and we still are our own selves. So yeah, I’d like to think Parv and I are mates, and I think whoever voted me off, we’re still friends, I hope we are,” she said.

Home and Away’s Georgie Parker on her exciting new role and Irene’s ‘super hard’ departure

Home and Away’s Georgie Parker hardly needs an introduction given her impressive career.

From her breakthrough in the ’80s on A Country Practice, before taking on the iconic role of Terri Sullivan in beloved Aussie drama All Saints, the six-time Logie Award winner has also presented on Play School and performed in numerous Aussie plays over the years. What can’t she do?!

In a nod to her A Country Practice days, Georgie is now starring in the new play How To Plot A Hit In Two Days, a story that follows a pivotal moment in Aussie TV. Set in 1985, the play is centred on the tear-jerking moment where A Country Practice’s beloved Molly Jones died, a moment that left millions of Aussies devastated.

Georgie stars as Judy, the head writer, as the writing team is tasked with crafting the emotional death scene.

With so many iconic and gut-wrenching deaths on Aussie TV over the years – from Molly, to Claire on McLeod’s Daughters, Mel on Packed To The Rafters, Patrick on Offspring, not to mention the numerous Home and Away deaths, Chattr spoke with Georgie about some iconic TV moments over the years.

Georgie Parker on Irene’s sad goodbye to Home and Away after 32 years

Georgie worked with Lynne McGranger, who played Irene Roberts on the soap for 15 years, after joining the cast in 2010. Lynne reprised the role of Irene back in 1993.

Fans were devastated to say goodbye to Irene. Image: Seven

She told Chattr it was “great” for Lynne to be given a solid storyline to play with in the last few months of her time on the show.

“I think it’s super hard, I’m married to a writer, so I kind of know, the light exploration into, how do we get rid of a character and give them something to play and give the audience something to really get attached to and invested in. Because there’s nothing less satisfying than someone just packing a bag
and going, it has to be engaging for all the characters around that person,” she said.

“So you have to do something, not just for them, but for everyone who loves them, is involved with
them, and then the audience. And it can’t be too sad, but it has to be sad enough. It has
to be respectful, have engagement with the audience and with the other actors as well. And honouring the character, because she’s been on screen for nearly a lifetime. 33 years, it’s a lifetime on screen.”

On A Country Practice and How To Plot A Hit In Two Days

Despite once starring in A Country Practice, Georgie didn’t have any issues stepping into the shoes of Judy.

“When I’m doing this play, because I’m playing a writer, and we’re externally talking and discussing the characters and story and plotting things. I forget that I was on the show. So that’s interesting, because I’m playing a writer. It’s different,” she said. “But also, we’re talking about a time when the senior cast were there, so it was a different generation. So, I’m talking about people that I didn’t work with. It was the moment before I came on as Lucy, about four and a half years later.”

A Country Practice was a beloved drama for lots of reasons, and it resonated with the audience. So, we’re kind of dipping back into the world of how they created that show and the ideas behind it. It was quite a particular world. It was enhanced comedy, enhanced drama. Everything was just slightly coloured up, but still believable and relatable,” she said.

Georgie Parker reveals the one TV death that sticks out to her the most

Georgie said if she ever had to pick out another iconic fictional death to dramatise on stage, it would be Dr. Mitch (Erik Thompson) on All Saints. She said it’s also the storyline that sticks out most to her during her career on Australia’s biggest dramas.

“It was such a tragedy,” she told Chattr. “You had this beautiful man who was in love with this woman, and they finally got to be together, finally. And then he starts acting out of sorts, and starts calling her the wrong name. And we find out he’s got a brain tumour. And he tries an operation because, he says, ‘I can’t, I don’t want to go this way, so I’m going to risk having an operation because I want to be with you’. And of course, it doesn’t work out. So, it was really hard to play because Eric and I worked really well together, but at the same time, it was such a weird and great challenge to do it. I really loved working with him.”

How To Hit A Plot In Two Days is showing from August 29 through to October 11, at Ensemble Theatre, Kirribilli, Sydney. Find out more here.

Home and Away’s Rebecca Breeds spills on a return to the show

Former Home and Away star Rebecca Breeds appeared in the golden era of the show, playing Ruby Buckton alongside her now-husband Luke Mitchell (Romeo Smith), Samara Weaving (Indi Walker), Stephen Peacocke (Darryl Braxton) and Esther Anderson (Charli Buckton). With Stephen recently confirming he’s coming back to Summer Bay, would Rebecca follow in his footsteps?

The Home and Away star tells Chattr it’s a big “hell yeah” from her, and admits she would love to work in Sydney again, where the show is filmed. She’s currently living in Chicago with Luke and their baby, but who knows what the future holds?

“I wanna vindicate Ruby! She got a really hard rap at the end there. She was smooshed into the ground. It was unfair. I say justice for Ruby,” Rebecca jokes.

“She lost her mum, right? And then she turned to alcohol, and I almost had a mental breakdown because every time I got a script I’m like, ‘What do you mean it’s worse?! What do you mean!’.”

The Kangaroo Island star says a return to Summer Bay would be “fun”, and she would be open to exploring where her character would be in 2025.

“My hope would be that Ruby turned it around and became a child psychologist and helps girls,” she muses. “The show was based around wayward kids that found their way to Summer Bay and were fostered and counselled and cared for by the community… and I think that’s kind of what Ruby would do.

“I loved that show… I never say never about things. It’s just a matter of timing and place, like we’re in Chicago right now. It’s a big, wide world with lots of exciting adventures and jobs, but we love home, and I can’t wait to be home, and I would love to work in Sydney again. So you know, watch this space, I suppose.”

Rebecca Breeds reveals she was invited back to Home and Away

The former Home and Away star was actually asked to come back to Summer Bay years ago, but due to scheduling commitments, the storyline didn’t pan out.

“There was an opportunity years ago. There was a storyline where the River Boys went to England, and they did want me to come back,” Rebecca spills. “I was working on a show called We Are Men at the time, and I couldn’t do it.”

Considering Stephen is coming back to Home and Away in 2026, 10 years after his last appearance, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to see Rebecca back on the show. We’re manifesting that Ruby finally gets her happy ending.

Home and Away airs 7pm Monday to Thursday on Seven and 7plus.

The Block’s Sonny and Alicia’s surprising admission about Han and Can following Hepburn Spa conflict

The Block has upped the ante when it comes to drama this week, after House 4, Sonny and Alicia, found themselves embroiled in a scandal with House 2’s Han and Can.

Partaking in the Hepburn Spa challenge – where the teams had to renovate and build their own bathrooms – Sonny and Alicia came up with a clever plan to get a seat and underfloor heating approved for their bathroom. Sonny told Chattr that he was the only person initially in constant contact with the builder at Hepburn Springs, asking questions as to how they could make their plan for the heated element work.

“They actually first put up a roadblock to what I wanted to do,” Sonny said. “And my comment to them was, ‘Well, if I find you a solution, can I do it?’ And so I found a way around it. We found a way to do it.

“I was the only person, sort of, in contact with this person because I’m asking questions all the time,” he continued. “I’d say, ‘has anyone else asked about this’ and they’d be like, ‘No one’s even spoken to me, mate’.”

What happened between The Block’s Sonny and Alicia and Han and Can?

After Sonny and Alicia fought hard to get the seat and underfloor heating approved, Alicia discovered Han and Can were doing the same thing. It didn’t take long for the couple to realise Han and Can may have copied their idea, and after fighting so hard to make it work, they weren’t happy.

“I just think it’s a shit move, it’s a shit thing to do to somebody else, it’s uncreative,” Alicia said in the episode, before the couple confronted Han in a dramatic scene.

“It was already a forethought,” Han told the couple unapologetically before they questioned how she came up with the plan. Han then told the couple the “chippies” told her how to do it.

Later on, Can apologised to Alicia, something the couple took as a sign of guilt that Han and Can had copied their plan. “I wouldn’t say sorry for something that I haven’t done,” Alicia told Chattr. “I’m not offering you a caravan and an apology if I haven’t done anything wrong.”

The Block’s Sonny and Alicia’s surprising words for Han and Can following Hepburn Spa challenge

Now, Sonny and Alicia have spoken to Chattr about the betrayal and what they have to say may shock fans.

“We worked really hard, us and them, to get over this,” Sonny said. “We speak to the girls couple times a week, we’ve been texting with them this afternoon. We have a very good friendship with the girls. I think it’s commendable on both ourselves and them. We’ve worked to get over that because, you know, we didn’t want bad blood. It upsets us to watch, because whatever’s going on right now, it’s a very hard watch for them. It’s not nice to see that happen to your mates.”

“We absolutely love them,” Alicia echoed. “They are the kindest girls you’ll ever meet. I have a rough time coming up, and Hannah’s the one texting me before I go to bed. Honestly, the girls’ have the biggest hearts, and they take time for everybody. So watching this play out, it’s really going to stink, we feel terrible for the way it went down and what happened, but unfortunately that’s the truth of it and it’s how it went down.”

Sonny said the couple didn’t have regrets about how they handled the situation, but that he hopes The Block fans keep in mind that

“We don’t feel terrible for speaking our mind, but we feel terrible that at the end of the day for them on a TV show in the national spotlight, we presume it’s probably not going to play out that well, especially after last few weeks that haven’t played out that well,” he said. “Everyone’s a human being. [Fans are] making these judgments on people, and they’re filming us for 17 hours a day, seven days a week and they’re condensing it down to five hours a week. So there’s good, there’s bad, there’s a lot more to it than those five hours.”

“It all unfolds really quickly, but you also move on really quickly,” Alicia added. “We’re one big family.”

The Block 2025 airs on Sundays at 7:30pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

The real reason Kirby was upset by her Survivor elimination — and where she stands with Parvati now

Kirby Bentley was eliminated from Survivor: Australia v The World after her ride-or-die Parvati Shallow turned against her. However, Kirby told Chattr that Parvati’s betrayal wasn’t the only reason she was so upset about the blindside.

The Titans v Rebels player revealed that her sister’s wedding fell on the very same day her elimination happened, and she had even confided in Parvati about how hard it was to miss such a milestone.

“I wasn’t angry. I was genuinely upset, and I was probably upset for a few different reasons,” Kirby explained. “It was my sister’s wedding that day, and I’d spoken to Parv about it in the shelter as well. I was Maid of Honour, and I felt like I’d let my sister down.”

Kirby said that it was frustrating that Parvati didn’t believe that she wouldn’t flip on her, but said that was the cherry on top of her already emotional day.

Parvati voting for Kirby on Survivor Australia v the World

“There were mixed emotions, as well, saying, ‘I’m telling you the truth, you’re my ride or die, and I have done all these things to prove to you that I want to work with you’. And obviously, she’s going to play her game; she’s going to make the call that she needed to make.

“So I was definitely not angry, I was mixed with emotions, for the first time, because of an outside influence, like my sister’s wedding.”

Kirby said the bright side of going home was that she got to talk to her sister on her wedding day, but didnt mention the elimination so it wouldn’t take away from her big moment.

“She definitely was [supportive]. But she got married that day, and when I got voted out, I was able to call her, and she was so happy, but she didn’t realise I got voted out. So I didn’t say anything. Being voted out a day before or a day after might have been better,” she laughed.

Are Parvati and Kirby still friends after Survivor: Australia v The World?

When Jonathan LaPaglia read out the final vote and her elimination was announced, it appeared as though Kirby dodged a hug from Parvati. However, Kirby told Chattr that she has no hard feelings towards Parvati, adding that they’re still friends now.

Kirby explained that was exactly why she avoided any pre-game alliances before Survivor: Australia v The World — and even chose not to watch past seasons.

Parvati, Cirie and Kirby on Survivor: Australia v The World. Image: Ten.

“Players need to play their game make decisions, and that’s why I think pre gaming is probably the worst thing you can ever do.

“If I played with my best friends, who are ex-athletes, I would understand why they chose to take me out, because of whatever reasons they have, and they’re there to play for themselves. It’s such an individual game that you do need to make decisions that are for yourself as much as it might hurt somebody else. So it’s definitely never personal. I’m still friends with Feras [Basal from Australian Survivor Titans v Rebels] and I lost half a million dollars, so that speaks for itself,” she laughed.

Kirby will be missed!

Survivor: Australia v The World airs at 7pm on Sundays, and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

Han and Can respond to rumours they quit The Block

Han and Can have been on an emotional rollercoaster on The Block 2025, with some viewers likening them to last year’s couple, Jesse and Paige, who famously quit the show. On Reddit, fans have even speculated that Han and Can might follow the same path and leave before the season wraps up.

“Don’t know how Han and Can are going to get through the next 10 weeks. It’s barely week 2 and they’ve had breakdown after breakdown,” one fan wrote.

“They instantly reminded me of Jesse & Paige from last year — except they seem to behave as Paige & Paige,” another user wrote.

One person was even willing to bet the couple would leave before auction day. “There’s no way Han and Can make it to the end, I think they’ll quit the show and be replaced like Jesse and Paige,” they speculated.

However, in an interview with Chattr, Han and Can said that they shared accommodation with the rest of the cast after filming finished, suggesting that they made it all the way to the end.

“We genuinely got along with everyone and see the cast as a little family. We even stayed together in an Airbnb after filming and got matching tattoos at the launch! Later in the season, we became especially close with Sonny and Leesh. We supported each other through the highs and lows and built a bond based on genuine care,” Can told Chattr.

Do Han and Can get along with the other Blockheads?

Despite what it looks like on TV, Han and Can said that they “built some great friendships on TV”.

Fans will remember when The Block 2025 cast piled into Sonny and Alicia‘s caravan for a debrief and team dinner following the Week 3 Room Reveal, but Han and Can didn’t join. The women explained that they were invited, but simply didn’t see the email in time, adding that they had a lot of work to do for The Block every night.

“In the early weeks, we sometimes missed dinners or gatherings simply because we were swamped with planning and organising for the build. That did mean we missed chances to connect,” Can explained.

“It wasn’t that we didn’t want to be included; we just had so much to manage in the evenings. Once we had a bit more breathing space later in the season as we built up our team and a builder, we made up for lost time and built some great friendships.”

The Block 2025 airs on Sundays at 7:30pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Kirby reveals how she knew about Parvati despite never watching Survivor

During the very first episode of Survivor: Australia V The World, Kirby Bentley admitted that she hadn’t watched Survivor before, which raised some eyebrows from viewers, considering she was competing on the all-star season.

“I’ve only played once, and I didn’t watch it before coming on. I’ve kept that the same, so I don’t know any of you. I don’t know — that could be a detriment, maybe, or it could work to my advantage,” Kirby said during the premiere.

But the Titans v Rebels alum quickly proved herself as a powerhouse this season, making it clear early on that she wanted to align with iconic Survivor US player Parvati Shallow.

With five seasons of Survivor and one win under her belt, Parvati is undoubtedly one of the biggest names of Australia v The World — alongside two-time winner Tony Vlachos. So how did Kirby know to team up with Parvati if she hadn’t watched the show?

“I spoke to some of my best friends who know me well, who know what triggers me, what makes me work, what makes me tick, and who they think would work well with me. And, they gave me a breakdown of some of the best players in the world, and a few of them happened to be out there,” Kirby told Chattr.

“I was aware of Janine [Allis] and David [Genat] and their playing styles, and then I was aware of Cirie [Fields], Parvati and Tony and their playing styles as well, just from those conversations. So I didn’t go in completely blind. I had enough information to use what I needed to.”

Why didn’t Kirby watch Survivor before competing on Australia v The World?

Kirby explained that once she found out she’d been cast, she made a conscious decision to continue not watching any Survivor episodes.

“I relate it back to sport,” she explained. “Whenever you overanalyse any opposition team — it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve played them — the game is never going to be played the same. You know, your big players might not be the same, or they might have adjusted or adapted in their space. So that was an intentional thought.”

Kirby added that in retrospect, she backs her choice of not learning about the other players by watching their seasons, because she thinks it’s easy to get starstruck — something Lisa Holmes (nee Stanger) experienced with Cirie, who has been cast on Survivor six times.

“I think it’s easy to get over awed — they’re big-time players, and their energy speaks for itself. They’ve got big auras, big personalities, and I felt it out there naturally. So if I had looked too far into their game, maybe I would have hesitated, or maybe I would have second-guessed, for whatever reason, just out of fear of what they had once done. But yeah, I think it might have worked in my favour.”

Maybe a few more players should have taken a page out of the Survivor Princess’s playbook.

Survivor: Australia v The World airs at 7pm on Sundays, and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

The Voice’s Olivia Coe Fox addresses rumours she could take the stage at the AFL Grand Final

The Voice Australia premiered a world-first last night when talented Wiradjuri singer Olivia Coe Fox took to the stage to sing ‘I am Australian’ by The Seekers in Yawuru language.

The First Nations language, spoken in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, is endangered, and Olivia bringing it to centre stage on a popular show like The Voice left many in the room, including the coaches, emotional.

Olivia was accompanied by her brother playing the didgeridoo and received four chair turns and a standing ovation, with Aussie singer and coach Kate Miller-Heidke saying the performance gave her “goosebumps”.

“I was incredibly moved by that performance,” fellow coach Ronan Keating added.

The Voice fans have one demand following Olivia’s iconic performance

Taking to social media, The Voice Australia fans have one loud demand. “Olivia must perform this at the AFL grand final!” someone commented on Facebook. “Delete Snoop Puppy Dog and lock Olivia in NOW.”

The comment now has over 3,500 likes, with another comment saying, “Let her and her brother do the Australian anthem at the AFL,” while someone else said, “This is what the AFL should be looking at for the GF!! Imagine 100,000 AFL fans belting this out with a tear in their eye!!”

Thousands of Aussies are in agreement in the comments, with another adding, “How amazing to hear it sung in language, that had me in tears. The haunting sound of the Didgeridoo was spectacular. Would rather hear this at the AFL Grand Final.”

“Wow. I felt every word. This was more than singing. Every word, every syllable dripped with the spirit, the energy of the ancestors. This moved my soul,” someone else commented.

Olivia Coe Fox responds to viral The Voice moment: ‘No dream is too big’

In a statement to Chattr, Olivia said: “Last night’s performance was one of the most powerful moments of my life! I am soaking in all the lovely comments from my nearest and dearest to complete strangers. Waking up to over 1 million views on my blind audition is something I never thought was possible! The love from across the nation has honestly left me speechless.

“To everyone who watched, cried, and shared their words with me I thank you. Singing I Am Australian in Yawuru language was more than just a performance. It was a tribute to the beauty of my Culture, my connection to identity, and an overall message to our young people to always be proud of who you are and where you come from.

“The comments about me possibly performing at the AFL grand final were such a shock, and I am so excited to see what the future holds for me. No dream is too big and I am beyond proud of myself for sharing music with Australia that speaks to heart, First Nations or not.”

Many fans are now also saying Olivia’s version of the song should be Australia’s new national anthem

With many fans left teary-eyed, people are also saying they’d love to see this version of the song become Australia’s national anthem.

“This performance destroyed my soul in the best kind of way. I was unashamedly sobbing,” one person said, with another saying, “That should be the Aussie anthem.”

“Couldn’t agree more about this being the national anthem. I’ve been saying this for years. It’s the one thing that could actually unite us as one nation,” someone else commented.

The Voice Australia continues 7:30pm, Monday and Tuesday on Channel Seven and 7plus.

Channel 10 confirm multi-year Survivor deal squashing Jonathan LaPaglia return rumours

A good chunk of the nation was left heartbroken after it was officially announced that Jonathan LaPaglia had been fired from his role as host of Australian Survivor.

In June, the network confirmed that Jonathan had been let go, and in August, it was revealed that former Australian Survivor winner David Genat was taking over the gig, starting with Australian Survivor 2026.

While fans who loved Jonathan as host have expressed outrage and even started a petition to get him back, a technical twist gave hope that he may return to the show.

Woman’s Day reported that Channel 10’s rights to Australian Survivor were set to expire next year, and said that Jonathan was already in talks with Channel 9, which hopes to acquire the popular reality show.

“Network Ten’s rights to Australian Survivor are set to expire next year and everyone is worried that the show could be snapped up by a rival network,” a TV producer told the publication.

However, Channel 10 has ruled out the rumour that Australian Survivor will be changing networks in the near future.

Insider claims Jonathan LaPaglia is in talks to return as host of Australian Survivor

If Channel 9 were to try and acquire Survivor next year, it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve taken a show from Channel 10.

“Everyone is expecting Channel Nine to make a play for the show — they’ve already stolen The Bachelor franchise from Network Ten and The Golden Bachelor so it would be just another sign of Nine giving another reality TV franchise a second life on their network,” the Woman’s Day source said.

The publication reported that Channel 9 have already “promised” to reinstate Jonathan’s job as host if they were to score Australian Survivor.

“There’s no doubt that Nine would bring back Jonathan LaPaglia and that would be the perfect way to make some noise and get the franchise back on track,” the insider said, adding, “I don’t see this as the end of Jonathan’s time in the Australian Survivor universe.”

Channel 10 shutdown rumours that Australian Survivor is moving networks

Shortly after the rumours of the network switch-up and Jonathan LaPaglia‘s possible return started circulating, Channel 10 confirmed that they have a multi-year deal with both Australian Survivor, and David as host.

“10 has a multi-year deal for both the show and the new host. The only place to watch Australian Survivor is on 10,” a spokesperson told Daily Mail.

Reactions to David Genat being announced as the new Australian Survivor host

Immediately after David Genat‘s elimination from Survivor: Australia v The World aired on Tuesday night, his new hosting role was revealed.

“I have so much respect for Australian Survivor. This game has changed my life. I love the players, I love the community of fans and I love the crew who make it happen. As the new host of Australian Survivor, I won’t let you down,” The joint post between David and the show’s official Instagram account read.

While many of the comments were supportive of David’s new gig, a lot of fans aired their devastation that Jonathan had been let go from the franchise.

“Wishing you all the very best! I’ll miss JLP but you are a brilliant replacement,” one person wrote.

“The end of an iconic era with JLP, but I’m so excited to see @davidgenat serving it at tribal and snuffing those torches! Congrats dear friend. A worthy rival, and now a most worthy host!” Two-time Australian Survivor contestant Sharn Coombes wrote.

Survivor: Australia v The World airs at 7pm on Sundays, and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

From the cut-throat ‘high achievers’ to the ‘feisty cousins’: Meet the cast of MKR 2025

My Kitchen Rules (MKR) has won over legions of fans with its relatable approach to cooking, usually featuring a cast of amateur cooks who aren’t scared of a bit of drama.

And, the MKR 2025 cast seems to be sticking to the tried-and-tested formula, with some interesting personalities among the bunch.

Six teams will compete this year to win $100,000, and as usual we can expect big personalities and even bigger flavours.

Hosts, judges, and BFFS, Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge, are returning for the 2025 season, with Manu citing it’ll be a “very interesting season around the dinner table”. Colin backed him up, saying, “There are many different personalities at the table, all firing at 110%. We have some controversial dishes, one in particular that will divide the table and the nation.”

Mel and Jacinta

Mel and Jacinta My Kitchen Rules
Mel and Jacinta are here to prove healthy doesn’t have to be boring. Image: Seven

The feisty cousins from NSW know how to stir the pot, and they’re here to do it! Jacinta loves to surprise people with her health-focused meals, focusing on gluten-free and vegan dishes, with Mel also liking to dabble in nutritious feasts. The two dream of creating a cookbook that proves food can be healthy, delicious and affordable.

Justin and Will

Best mates Justin and Will met through their wives 12 years ago and said it was “bromance at first sight”. Justin is a gym owner and foodie, who gained a popular online presence after making videos for his gym members, while Will is a former NRL player whose ultimate love language is food.

The two plan to lean on their cultural roots, with Justin looking to draw inspiration from his South African heritage while Will credits his late father to his love of food, with food playing an important role in Togan culture.

Anne and Maree

Anne and Maree are a dynamic mother-daughter duo who are proud of their heritage and ready to bring a taste of Greece to MKR.

The duo say that cooking is more than just a tradition: it’s “love, legacy and a tribute” to their family whenever they step into the kitchen. “I want you to feel part of a big Greek family,” Anne says in the promo.

Their secret weapon is a handwritten cookbook passed down from Anne’s late mother, with the team ready to pay tribute to Yia-yia’s legacy. And it looks like they do it beautifully, with Colin Fassnidge seen saying in the promo, “This is seasoned with love… I thought I was in Greece.”

Maria and Bailey

Maria and Bailey are self-proclaimed “high achievers from South Australia. Maria owns her own company and Bailey runs five companies.

“We’re here to win. We want to be on top,” Maria proclaims.

Bailey adds: “I don’t care if we have to be really cut-throat.”

Viewers can expect fine dining with an upper-class flair from the ambitious duo.

Lol and Lil

Lol and Lil are lifelong best friends from Queensland, who are full or energy and determined to prove they’re the perfect balance of sugar and spice for MKR

However, it doesn’t appear that they’ll be as well received as they’d hope, with one competing team calling them the ‘Logan Bogans’ at an Instant Restaurant.

Regardless, the blonde besties clearly have some skill in the kitchen, with judge Colin Fassnidge declaring in the trailer that their Instant Restaurant menu is  “sunshine on a plate”.

Michael and Rielli

Michael is a self-proclaimed meatmaster, and he’s joining MKR with his partner Rielli, who is a baking queen.

While they sound like the perfect MKR team, it looks as though they’ll be involved in some confrontation at the dinner table. Michael’s meat-heavy menu is set to rile up fellow competitor Jactinta, a nutritionist.

Plus, viewers can expect some spice as Michael and Rielli are set to send shockwaves through the competition with a dish that judge Colin warns will “divide the table and divide the nation.”

When will MKR 2025 premiere?

MKR 2025 will premiere on Monday, September 1, on Channel Seven and 7plus at 7:30pm.

My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2025 will air on Channel 7 and 7Plus.

Home and Away fans are ‘crying’ over return of fan favourite characters

Home and Away has announced that fan favourite characters Brax (Stephen Peacocke) and Ricky (Bonnie Sveen) will return to screens in 2026 in a guest appearance.

The last time we saw Brax and Ricky on our screens was in 2016, when the two departed the Bay for good after many dramas, including Brax’s imprisonment, faking his own death, and then returning to let Ricky know he was really alive just when she had moved on and married someone else.

Classic Home and Away.

How will Brax and Ricky return to Home and Away?

Now, Brax and Ricky are allegedly living life somewhere in Western Australia with their son Casey, with the show teaming up with Tourism Western Australia for the special episodes.

After news of the return was announced, actor Stephen Peacocke said, “When the producers asked if I’d revisit Brax, it felt like a fun opportunity – and one I think the audience will really enjoy. Filming in spectacular outback Western Australia is the icing on the cake, and we can’t wait to welcome one lucky UK fan and their guest onto set with us.”

Bonnie Sveen added, “Bringing Ricky back wasn’t something I’d ever expected, so I’m beyond thrilled to reunite with Steve and old friends at Home and Away. Exploring where Ricky and Brax are now, 10 years on, will make for a very special and compelling storyline – and I can’t wait for our WA filming adventure.”

Home and Away fans are thrilled for the return of Brax and Ricky, but some have concerns

Needless to say Home and Away fans are very excited, with some saying they haven’t even watched the show since Brax and Ricky left nearly 10 years ago.

Brax and Ricky have been through some shit. Image: Seven

“I haven’t watched Home and Away since they left, so I’m excited for them to come back and definitely gonna watch it when they do,” one person commented on Instagram, with another saying, “Omg I don’t think I’ve watched Home and Away since Brax and Ricky left! I’m still traumatised from when Casey [Brax’s brother] died.”

Many fans also felt emotional about the news. “I just gasped out loud when I read this and my husband thought someone had died,” one person said.

“I’m crying and vomiting I’m so excited!” one thrilled fan commented, with another saying, “Crying, screaming, throwing up. I can’t believe it! I knew this day would come! I just knew it!”

Despite the excitement, some fans had reservations after Home and Away brought back beloved characters Dean and Ziggy earlier this year.

home-and-away-ziggy-dean-return
Ziggy and Dean returned earlier this year for another guest appearance, filmed in North Queensland. Image: Seven

“OMG, but really hope it’s a better storyline than Dean & Ziggy’s return,” one person said. “It will be fantastic to see them again, H&A has never been so good as when these two were on it. But I wish they’d come back to the Bay. Not keen on these ‘events’ like they did with Dean and Ziggy. Bring them home and make they stay!” another fan stated.

Home and Away airs 7pm Monday to Thursday on Seven and 7plus.

Survivor’s Tony fires back at Parvati’s ‘kitty’s got claws’ dig

Two-time Survivor US winner Tony Vlachos was the latest casualty on Survivor: Australia v The World after his ally Parvati Shallow joined a unanimous vote against him.

Unbeknownst to Tony at the time, Parvati was one of the only World tribe members advocating for him to stay.

However, at the Tribal Council that aired on August 24, with the knowledge that his head was on the chopping block, Tony put Parvati in he firing line by accusing her of having a secret key to an advantage box the tribe was trying to open.

While Tony was correct in assuming that Parvati had found the key, she’d shared that with her alliance members Kass, Cirie and Lisa, who all knew the box held an Immunity Idol clue. But Tony’s revelation has the women questioning if Parvati had betrayed them and told Tony about their advantage.

Tony’s attack on Parvati cemented her decision to vote for him, telling the camera “Kitty’s got claws” while showing her parchment with his name written down.

How did Tony respond to Parvati voting for him on Survivor: Australia v The World?

Immediately after the episode aired, Tony took to Instagram with a screenshot of the moment from the Chattr Instagram account and sassily called Parvati out.

“Kitty ain’t got claws! Kittys got an #IMMUNITY necklace AND an idol at her arms reach at #tribal! THATS what kitty’s got which gives kitty that confidence to say: KITTYS GOT CLAWS!, ” he wrote.

Tony was referring to the advantage that was in the previously locked box, which informed the players that there was an Immunity Idol hidden at host Jonathan LaPaglia‘s stand during that specific Tribal Council.

While Parvati, Cirie, Lisa and Kass all knew about the Idol’s location, when the Tribal ended, Parvati hung back and secretly grabbed it on her way out.

Will Parvati’s devious move ruffle feathers between her current alliance? We can’t wait to find out!

Survivor: Australia v The World airs at 7pm on Sundays, and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

MAFS’ Katie spills on the possibility of being The Bachelorette

Katie Johnston had a rough ride on Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 this year. She was matched with groom Tim Gromie, who told her he preferred “petite” women with blonde or brunette hair.

The couple didn’t last long, and Katie recently made a bold call on Instagram, putting herself forward as the next Bachelorette on the popular dating show.

She tells Chattr her post was “for a laugh”, but wouldn’t say no if producers came knocking.

“As for The Bachelorette, I’d love options. It’d be a good catch up on my lousy dating history these last few years. And best case scenario I’d find love,” Katie spills.

“But realistically, I don’t think it’s going to happen for me. I’ll just have to resort to asking ChatGPT for help to date.”

Tim and Katie on MAFS 2025

She says her current dating life is “non existent at the moment”, but isn’t worried or concerned about finding her one true love anytime soon.

“Life is great. Research shows that single women live longer, so I’m leaning into that,” she explains. “I’m warmed that many people want to see me happy and find love, but I am happy, and self love is the best kind anyway.”

Would Katie go on MAFS for a second time?

Some of Katie’s MAFS co-stars have expressed a desire to get back on the show, including Carina Mirabile and Adrian Araouzou, but this bride doesn’t see herself going through the process for a second time.

“I like to have random life adventures, but I don’t think MAFS is on the bingo card,” Katie says.

Some of the MAFS star’s followers want to see her back on reality TV, with many flooding her comment section with opinions.

“I would watch!” one person said.

“I think go for it, there have been many successful relationships from reality TV, don’t listen to negative people who tell you to let it come to you. Sometimes you have to go get what you want… I would definitely watch you as the Bachelorette,” another wrote.

“Yes girl!! You go get your man! Only the best is good enough!”

However, there were plenty of fans who warned Katie against the perils of reality TV.

“Don’t do it. It’s tacky. You are gorgeous inside and out and someone out there will find you. It may take some time but you’re worth it,” one fan advised.

“The only man worthy of you is the one that works on getting you. Please don’t do any more reality shows. You don’t need a man,” another added.

“Please don’t do any shows for love. It will find you. So many men do these programs for the wrong reasons. I don’t want your growth and changes to be pulled apart on TV,” a third chimed in.

Fans also said Katie might be better suited to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! or another dating show that doesn’t revolve around finding love. Either way, it would certainly be interesting to see her back on our screens.

You can stream Married At First Sight on 9Now.

The truth about The Block’s Han and Can revealed by insider

The Block 2025 has been filled with drama, and controversial contestants Han and Can have been at the centre of most of it. The couple from WA were called out by their fellow contestants for missing a group dinner, and Han recently had a stoush with Foreman Dan.

The pair have told Chattr they see the cast as a “little family” and are close with Sonny and Alicia, so the drama we see on screen might all be for show.

According to New Idea, the nicknames Han and Can were chosen by producers, as the couple usually go by Hannah and Candy back home.

“They weren’t totally comfortable with it at first. But eventually they went along with it for the sake of the show,” a source claimed.

“If someone says ‘Hannah’ or ‘Candy’, they know them personally. But if it’s ‘Han’ and ‘Can’, that’s definitely a Block viewer.”

Could this be why Han and Can seem to be on the outside on TV but are supposedly close behind the scenes with the other contestants?

The pair told Chattr the entire cast received matching tattoos at The Block launch and stayed together in an Airbnb after filming.

“Later in the season, we became especially close with Sonny and Leish, we supported each other through the highs and lows and built a bond based on genuine care,” they said.

An insider spills on Han and Can’s reaction to backlash

Han and Can have been through a rough few weeks on The Block, and viewer reaction to the pair hasn’t been very positive. An insider told New Idea it was “a bit of a shock” for the duo, but claimed they understand how reality TV works.

“Honestly [it was] disappointing for the girls. When the show’s over, they’ll be looking forward to moving on from the ‘Han and Can’ brand if things keep up the way they have been on the show,” the insider spilled.

“It’s the nature of these shows, and the girls get that.”

One thing’s for sure: Han and Can are providing elite entertainment and keeping viewers hooked. Fingers crossed they don’t have any other massive setbacks in the next few weeks.

The Block 2025 airs on Sundays at 7:30pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

The Voice contestant hits back at rumours she’s an ‘industry plant’

It didn’t take fans long to recognise The Voice 2025 contestant Cassie Henderson, who’s already a successful artist in New Zealand — sparking accusations that she might be an industry plant.

In 2024, the 26-year-old released her single Seconds to Midnight, which stayed at number one on the RadioScope NZ Airplay Charts for 15 weeks. She went on to win Best Pop Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards earlier in 2025.

Cassie also came fifth on X Factor New Zealand in 2013 when she was just 14 years old, and recently opened for US star Alex Warren’s tour leg in New Zealand

Industry accomplishments as impressive as these are rare for a The Voice contestant, as the show usually propels unknown artists into the spotlight.

On TikTok, fans started to question why seemingly successful artists were auditioning for the show. “They do know she has been hugely successful already, hey?” one person said after the judges all turned their chairs for Cassie.

The Voice Australia’s Cassie Henderson responds to speculation that she’s an industry plant

As speculation grew, ZM New Zealand radio hosts Bree and Clint asked Cassie directly whether she was an industry plant.

“No, sadly, I’m not,” Cassie responded. “I have been working so hard for the past five years.

“I think people think I’m too established to do something like this, because there’s a misconception that I have, like, a big label deal and, like, this big team behind me. But the reality is I’m living with my parents in, like, a dungeon doing all of this mostly myself.

“So it’s really important for us to get out onto the international stage, and I really just wanted to try and challenge myself and see if I could rise up to that and try and make Kiwis proud.”

Are there any other established artists on The Voice Australia 2025?

While The Voice Australia 2025 Blind Auditions are still ongoing and all the teams haven’t been completed yet, there’s already another recognisable name among the mix.

Charlie O’Derry, who is part of Kate Miller-Heidke’s team, recently went on tour with Thelma Plum, and released his first single earlier this year.

In past seasons, The Voice Australia has also seen its fair share of familiar faces, including Jack Vidgen, who won Australia’s Got Talent in 2011; Lee Harding, who rose to fame on Australian Idol in 2005; Chris Sebastian, brother of Guy Sebastian.

The Voice Australia airs on Sundays at 7pm and Monday and Tuesday and 7:30pm on Channel Seven and 7plus.

Rebecca Breeds reveals Home and Away easter eggs in Kangaroo Island

Former Home and Away star Rebecca Breeds can’t escape her Summer Bay past — even when she’s playing a completely different character. In her new movie, Kangaroo Island, there are two easter eggs that hint towards her time spent playing Ruby Buckton on the Aussie soap.

Rebecca tells Chattr that the first reference to Home and Away was a complete coincidence.

“I couldn’t believe [it]. Sally [Gifford], the writer, had written this moment at the top of the film where they’re recognising me from a soap. It’s not an Australian soap, the character was on an American soap,” Rebecca explains. “They go, ‘Oh, [you were] Sasha, the tyre slasher’. And I was like, Sally, you know that my character slashed tyres in Home and Away, she went to jail, it was very contentious.”

It turns out Sally had no idea about Ruby’s scheming ways in Summer Bay, and she had put the little easter egg into the script without meaning to.

“I was like, ‘What are the odds you wrote that she’s a tyre slasher… how many characters slash tyres?’,” Rebecca recalls. “There were lots of synchronicities in the film that just made me go, oh, this is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing right now. And this is definitely the right thing, to take this role.”

Rebecca Breeds as Ruby Buckton in Home and Away

The second Home and Away reference is a little more blatant. After the tension ramps up between Rebecca’s character Lou, her father and sister, Auntie Rosie lets out a zinger. “There’s more drama than Home and Away,” she quips.

“Yes, she says ‘there’s more drama than Home and Away,’ which was obviously… the writer couldn’t help herself. And it’s true, there’s a lot of drama in Home and Away,” Rebecca says.

“It was actually pretty funny. But [while] there is a lot of drama in the family, I’d like to think it’s very grounded as well.”

What is Kangaroo Island about?

Kangaroo Island follows the character of Lou, a South Australian woman who left her small hometown to chase big dreams of an acting career in Hollywood. After some bad decisions and fate intervening, she ends up flying back to Australia to visit her family with her tail between her legs.

Kangaroo Island Rebecca Breeds
Rebecca as Lou in Kangaroo Island. Image: Maslow Entertainment

Kangaroo Island is what has been described as a love letter to Australia,” Rebecca says. “[Lou] has to face a lot of what she ran away from. But in doing that, she kind of baptises herself in the beauty that is Australia, and comes home, not just to her family, to where she’s from but herself.”

It’s witty, tugs on the heartstrings and will likely leave you in a puddle of tears. “She finds a lot of catharsis and a lot of healing [with her family in Australia]. But along the way, she has a lot of fun,” she adds. “[Lou is] a bit of a mess… but she comes back together and comes back to life, really. It’s quite a beautiful and inspirational film in the end.”

Kangaroo Island is in cinemas now.

Rebecca Breeds on how her role in Kangaroo Island reflects life as a new mum

Rebecca Breeds is one of Australia’s big entertainment success stories — she went from playing teenager Ruby Buckton on Home and Away to a leading role in the Hollywood show Clarice, and a recurring role on Pretty Little Liars. Now, she has returned to her roots, taking on the multi-faceted role of Lou in Kangaroo Island, set against the stunning backdrop of South Australia.

Rebecca tells Chattr it was “heaven” to leave Hollywood and come home to film, because it almost doesn’t feel like work. “You have such a rapport with everyone in Australia. You just kind of get each other. You come from the same culture, you have that same kind of vibe about you,” she gushes.

“Every time I come home and work, it’s like soul food. You just feel your tank filling back up and to be in my natural accent as well, you just get to be so grounded in yourself.”

Rebecca describes Kangaroo Island as a “love letter to Australia” and is visibly proud of what the filmmakers have achieved. The film follows Lou, a woman whose decision to move to the USA to chase an acting dream didn’t pan out, and she ends up coming home with her tail between her legs. She has a complicated relationship with her father, sister and her ex — who happens to be married to her sister — and it raises questions around grief, whether family can do more harm than good, and how you can move on with life when it gets really messy.

It’s not always easy for actors to find the perfect roles, but Rebecca was drawn to Kangaroo Island’s script. “Lou is a complex character. Often, you know, there are some two-dimensional characters you tend to go for, [but] she was very, very full-bodied. And not only that, she was kind of gritty,” the actor says. “When we find her at the beginning of the film, she’s a mess, and I loved that. It was so refreshing to me to not have to be like, preened and you know, pretty and well behaved… there’s just like no makeup. Or what makeup I had is rolling off my face.”

Rebecca recently welcomed her first child with husband — and fellow former Home and Away star — Luke Mitchell, so themes of sacrificing parts of yourself for family from the film are also present in her life.

“You have your dreams, but then you meet the baby of your dreams, and you’re like, well, of course you need to come first,” she says. “I do understand it’s a long game. And yes, this period of time is obviously going to be more intense, but there’s going to be a period of time in my life where he’s like, ‘Mum, get a life’… if he’s all that I exist for, then that’s not very healthy.”

Rebecca Breeds as Lou in Kangaroo Island. Image: Maslow Entertainment

The pair currently live in Chicago for Luke’s job playing Dr Mitch Ripley in Chicago Med, and naturally, Rebecca has been thinking about work-life balance and family.

“A lot of our conversations at the moment are about finding that balance of how much to work and what’s good for all of us long term,” she tells us. “I’m really committed to showing [our child] a full-bodied person, showing him how to take care of yourself, and how that makes me a better mum…. I love what I do. It nourishes me, and it inspires me, and I love the challenge of it. It gives me so much drive, and I think it’s healthy for him to see me doing that as well.”

Rebecca Breeds on Kangaroo Island’s strong message

There’s many complex emotions and storylines throughout Kangaroo Island, but the one core theme tying it all together is the idea of family. How important is family, can you turn your back on blood, and is there a way to forgive moments which had devastating consequences?

Rebecca tells us that the heart of the film is the idea that family is “so important,” and this can also include the family you choose.

“We all need connection. We all need each other. We are not an island… despite the title of the film Kangaroo Island, it’s kind of saying no man is an island,” she explains. “We can’t survive stranded by ourselves, and nor should we, no matter what we’ve been through. Family is a soft place to land, even if you don’t think it will be.”

Kangaroo Island tackles different topics, from terminal illness to death and grief, but Rebecca wanted to take on this role to “help people”.

“That’s why we do what we do, right?” she says. “It is cathartic. You do feel seen, and I think that’s really powerful stuff.”

Kangaroo Island is in cinemas now.
