Aussie soap Neighbours is coming back to our screens, and the iconic theme song has been replaced with an updated version.

While the new theme song is pretty similar to the original, it’s been given a fresh update by Chris Sebastian, the winner of Season 9 of The Voice Australia, which aired in 2020. 

“When I was told the Neighbours team were going to use my voice for the new season theme song, I was shocked and of course over the moon,” Sebastian said in a statement.

“I have grown up with that soundtrack and I still can’t quite believe that this is real. Neighbours, we are all so glad you are back, it hasn’t been the same without our friends. I hope you guys love my version of the theme song as much as I loved recording it for you.”

To celebrate the updated Neighbours theme song, some of the soap’s cast have been captured on video listening to it for the first time in a cute clip that was posted to YouTube.

When is Neighbours returning?

Neighbours is returning to 10 and 10Play on Monday, September 18. UK and U.S. audiences can view the series on Amazon Freevee plus Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand seven days following free to air viewing on Network 10.

Who’s in the Neighbours revival?

While not all of the cast members who were part of Neighbours when it periodically ended in July 2022 will be returning, many of the main characters will be.

Amongst them are Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis, Ryan Moloney, Annie Jones, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Georgie Stone, Tim Kano, Lucinda Cowden and Lucinda Armstrong Hall. There will also be new additions to Ramsay Street, including Mischa Barton, Shiv Palekar, Sara West, Naomi Rukavina and Xavier Molyneux.

Neighbours returns on Monday, September 18 on 10 and 10Play.
