Stranded on Honeymoon Island is Channel 7’s bold new reality show where six newly matched couples are married off and dropped on remote islands to test their connections.
The cast met for the first time during a speed dating round, which aired in episode 1. At the event they gave producers a list of the partners they wanted to be paired up with for the experiment; however, the final choices were ultimately out of the participants’ hands.
Unsurprisingly, everything did not go smoothly when the couples were shipped off to their islands, and drama exploded between a fair few of the couples.
Midway through the season, the participants were offered an escape route: an orange box containing a flare. They were told that if they chose to launch it, both their journey and their partner’s would come to an end on the show.

Who has left Stranded on Honeymoon Island so far?
Mike
Mike and his partner Amy formed a strong friendship on Stranded on Honeymoon Island, but their bond never quite turned romantic.
Unlike the other couples, Mike’s flare option came with a twist — if he chose to pull it, he’d leave the experiment, but a new partner would be brought in for Amy.
In the end, the reality star made the selfless decision to pull the flare, and Haydn was shipped into the experiment. Mike told Chattr that he had Amy’s best interests at heart when he made his choice.
“I [thought I] might as well just give her what she wants, so that at least one of us can find something out of this. It was really only for her,” Mike said.
“I was a bit sad,” he continued. “The whole purpose was to look for love, and if one of us gets the opportunity to give the other one [that], I would have hoped, if it were vice versa, she would have done the same thing.
Tom and Emily
Much to Emily’s delight, she was matched with her first pick from the speed dating round, Tom, in Episode 1. However, the excitement wasn’t mutual, with Tom admitting that he felt no spark during their wedding kiss.
Shortly after, Tom told Emily he had a girl waiting for him on the outside. But when Emily shared his shady secret with the other contestants, he quickly backtracked, claiming he made it up as an excuse because he didn’t want to pursue a romantic connection with her.
While on the show, Emily wasn’t sure whether to believe Tom, but she decided to pull the flare during Episode 7 anyway.
“I just did not see going anywhere other than a friendship. I think at that point, it was that trigger of, I had to take in everything I’ve heard. And, I’ve heard that there is a girl on the outside,” she told Chattr of her decision.
“I didn’t want to be someone’s second option. So it was that final straw, [I thought] I’m doing this for me, and I’ll find my person who thinks I’m number one.”
Her choice meant that her and Tom’s time on the Fijian island was over.
“It was probably one of the proudest moments I’ve had for myself. It was extremely emotional, but I wasn’t going to keep fighting for someone who’s never going to fight,” she said.
