Australia’s getting its very own version of The Golden Bachelor in 2025 and we can’t wait!
Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden, 61, will be our first-ever Golden Bachie, and the show has recently released the names and bios of the 20 ladies vying for Bear’s heart, ranging in ages from 51 to 66.
The last time we saw any of The Bachelor franchise on our screens was late 2023, and now the show has jumped networks from Channel 10 to Channel Nine, with The Golden Bachelor to be hosted by Sam Armytage.
There’s no set air date yet, but the network has teased that the show is “coming soon”, so we’re predicting it may premiere when The Block wraps up this year.
While we eagerly await more details, let’s meet our Golden Bachie Bear and the ladies vying for his affections.
Firstly, meet Bear.
Described as a “strong, protective man with deep love for family and adventure”, Bear currently resides in Sydney, and his the father to three sons. Bear lost his wife Audrey in 2011 and prioritised fatherhood above everything else for the years following, but now that his sons are grown, he’s ready to open his heart again.
“It’s quite surreal getting to be Australia’s first Golden Bachelor,” Bear said. “It’s an incredible privilege that 20 remarkable women are willing to come on this journey with me, for all of us to have the courage to open our hearts and take the chance to fall in love again.”
Angela, 52, Psychotherapist, VIC
Angela is a mum of two and looking for someone “over six foot tall, with [his] own hair, nice teeth and most importantly, kind.”
She is described as an “intelligent woman with discerning tastes” and says she is a lady with old-school values and a modern mindset.
Bianca, 51, Radio Presenter, QLD
Bianca is touted as the “hilarious life of the party” and has over 30 years of experience as a celebrated radio announcer. Her father is 1970s rockstar Issie Dye and she followed his footsteps into the entertainment world.
Unable to have her own kids after suffering many miscarriages, Bianca said she’s ready to embrace any kids the Golden Bachelor has.
Catherine, 56, Interior Designer, NSW
Catherine is described as competitive, determined, and not afraid to go after what she wants. She’s been married twice before and after her second divorce, she turned to bodybuilding to rebuild her confidence.
Catherine is a mum of two and is ready to challenge society’s expectations and prove that age is no barrier to strength and ambition.
Elizete, 54, Property Manager, NSW
Brazillian Elizete is a self-proclaimed warrior princess and is described as “fiercely independent” but is longing for a partner who will cherish her.
From being born in the jungles of Brazil to travelling the globe and living in Italy, Elizete now calls Australia home and is searching for someone tall, athletic, and ultimately, a man who is not intimidated by her.
