The Block finale is days away, but as the five teams prepare to battle at auction, questions are being raised over whether every team played on a level field.
An insider from The Block is claiming that Courtney and Sev did not conduct themselves in a ‘fair’ way throughout the renovation competition.
“The lying and cheating with that wine cellar. You’re only allowed to accept 50 per cent discount when they knew that was so much more than that. They’re playing unfair,” the source said in an exclusive interview with Chattr.
The insider went on to claim to Chattr that the friends even kept a secret phone that production didn’t have access to for setting up hidden deals. “They got caught out for having a burner phone. You’re only allowed to use your Block phone, as your personal phone gets put into a safe,” they alleged.

“They bought a burner phone like a drug dealer so that way they could do secret deals and not get busted… goes against the rules of the game.”
They went on to claim Courtney and Sev’s burner phone was found but the team didn’t face any consequences. “They got caught out, and no one was punished,” the source claimed.
In another allegation, The Block insider alleged the women have poured their own funds into their house in the lead-up to the 2026 auction. “Post-show, they’ve been using their own money to do additions to the house, which is not allowed,” they claimed.
“They have been playing very unfairly behind the scenes and I feel sorry for the other cast members this year.”
Chattr has reached out to Nine regarding these allegations.
Why have Courtney and Sev been so controversial on The Block?
Courtney and Sev have been at the centre of some of The Block 2026’s biggest controversies, despite dominating the competition with six room-reveal wins.
One of their earliest scandals involved accusations of cheating after Rick and Tayla filmed a British Paints employee painting inside their house. However, the women confirmed to Chattr this was permitted by Scott Cam himself.
Their impressive scores also raised eyebrows, with rival teams questioning whether the judges were showing them preferential treatment, particularly after they received near-perfect marks for unfinished rooms.
Tensions exploded during Backyard and Garage Week when Courtney and Sev paid just $14,500 for a wine cellar reportedly valued at $100,000. The decision to classify it as artwork sparked accusations of exploiting a loophole, although Scott Cam defended the decision.
Of course, a lot of the criticism directed at the woman has been about questioning how much they’ve dominated the competition, so it is worth adding that Courtney and Sev could just be… very, very good. But who will win The Block? Stay tuned for Sunday’s finale to find out.
The Block airs on Channel 9 and streams on 9Now.
